Landry Hill writes Hot & Dirty, Short & Sweet romance. She spends most of her days fantasizing and bringing book boyfriends to life in ink. She’s a true believer in Love and Romance. Cherishes her friendships. And knows that happy endings don’t just exist between the pages of a book. They also exist in real life.
Sam (18, virgin) had been BFFs with her neighbor, Drake (18, whore) since they were children. They were each other's first love. When they were 14, there was a major misunderstanding, and being a dumb teen, Drake assumed the worst and turned into Sam's biggest bully. He's been cruel to her for the past 4 years, making her life hell. Now Sam has reached her breaking point. She refuses to react to his taunts and mean words and he doesn't like it. He's never stopped loving her and she never stopped loving him, but he forced himself to hate her instead. When events surrounding the misunderstanding don't add up, he starts to question everything he thought he knew. The truth comes out and he's devastated. Now he's got to prove to her that he never stopped loving her and pray that it's not too late. They get their HEA.
For me, I liked this one the best. It also had the best sex out of all of them. I actually shed a tear in this one, but keep in mind that I'm sick and had been up since 2am coughing, so I wasn't in the best frame of mind.
This book has the spooky Halloween scenes and the steamy, angsty smut I love. I hated and loved Drake with his hateful attitude but underneath was hurt he was to scared to show. Samantha used her words and actions to cut Drake as hard and deep as he cut her but couldn't stop loving him deep down. I loved watching these two fight the chemistry they had until they came together (figuratively and literally 😉).
1.5⭐ Que libro más malo xD Más de la mitad del tiempo me dio cringe. Seguí sólo para saber cómo iba a terminar 😆 Also, este es el segundo de esta saga y no fue necesario leer el primero.
I thought these books were going to be equally spooky and smutty but they are just smutty where is the fun in that?!!
The mmc, Drake, also proceeded to call the fmc, Samantha, a slut and a bitch in the first 5% of the book, a whore by the 25% marknand he is presumably in love with her, what a turn off. He was giving Sawyer from Lost.
Plus, it is set at the same time as the first book I think which made it a little boring so ...
Fright Night was a good, quick spicy novella! What you get..... ♡Enemies to Lovers ♡Ex-Best Friends ♡Bullying ♡Revenge ♡Halloween Haunted House ♡High School Friends Group ♡She's a Virgin ♡He's a Playboy ♡Some Spice ♡Miscommunication
Drake and Sam grew up together and live next to each other. They used to be best friends but now are enemies. I really enjoy reading about these characters and how they get to their HEA!
I was excited to continue this series and this book did not disappoint! A twists and turns tale of friends to maybe more to enemies to a whole lot more? If that is your thing, you'll love this story. Add in some scares and spookiness and you have a great quick read just in time for Halloween. This book had me feeling all of the emotions from page to page, I was frustrated, angry, happy, and frisky right along with the characters! I am so invested in this friend group and I can not wait for the next story! I received an arc for this book for an honest review. This review is my own opinion.
Landry Hill is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! This quick and spicy friends to enemy to lovers is exactly what I needed. We get spicy from the beginning and it don’t let up. You get plot mixed in perfectly with the spice. The FMC and MMC are some of favorites! Drake just does something for me. 🤌🏼🔥

Samantha
Once upon a time, I thought I was going to marry that boy. Now, he is the bane of my existence. My enemy. My bully.
He gets off on his sick pranks. Goes out of his way to torture me on the daily. But this time, he's taken things too far.
Revenge fuels my blood. And this Halloween Fright Night, he's going to get what he deserves.
I read this book for Halloween and it was a perfect bully romance for the spooky season. Sam and Drake have been at odds for a few years due to a misunderstanding and it has ripped their previous friendship they once had to pieces which makes Drake being such a bully that much more devastating for Sam. Halloween is coming and its a night for the guys and girls who want their scares to have the perfect effect to be fulfilled. I am so happy with the way Fright Night ended. I can't wait to dive into the rest of the books in the Fright series! I can't wait to get to know the rest of our Fright players.

First, I should mention that oops, I read this one first instead of the one before it so I think I technically know what's coming for the couple before this one. I should have read closer!
As for the book itself, not bad, not bad. It has a decent plot but there are holes in it. Tons of them, really, when it comes down to the history between these two and the buildup to a sudden total and complete meltdown. Like, I was expecting something completely different because of how things were twisting, not to mention that I'm a little weirded out by the idea that someone can just tell that they're hitting a virgin's hymen with his fingers? Does that mean this guy has had the experience multiple times, enough to know what he's doing? It's just an odd fact.
Not to mention that I'm sincerely ticked off at the waaaaay too easily forgiven mode here. He's spent four years tormenting her, bullying her, and even if each time he pulled something there was a "reason" for it, HE HAS STILL SPENT FOUR YEARS MAKING HER LIFE HELL. There's no way that it would be so easily forgiven.
It's the unrealistic side of that aspect that makes the story lose a star, because the rest of it is pretty well thought out, especially for a shorter story that tries to cram all the details in while in only so many words/chapters.
The next couple is up and it's Samantha and Drake. Who positively loathe one another for reasons that had not yet been revealed. Well, we find out why here and it's essentially a big, ol' misunderstanding that spiraled into this massive, world eating entity. You know, without the total destruction of humankind.
Anywho. Drake likes to push. Samantha likes to needle him. They both say things that hurt one another. They both won't back down, determined to get the better of the other. When Drake takes things one step too far in their bid for one-upmanship, he realizes that there is a line he's unwilling to cross and it comes when Sam is genuinely terrified. Yeah, driving someone you care about (but think you hate) to the brink can be jarring.
This leads to some actual communication between the two of them and they realize that a lot of what kept them apart was kind of dumb. So they grovel and forgive and come to terms with the fact that they're just meant to be. Good times!
DNF - I never read these expecting feminism or anything but the level of misogyny was astonishing. Both leads constantly call girls various misogynist slurs, the male lead is obsessed with the female lead's virginity though it shouldn't matter and is none of his business, he only reevaluates her worth when he thinks she might be a virgin, he thinks of his virgin male friend as a "poor guy" for being a virgin but then calls her a slut repeatedly because she isn't? Like what? The male lead is entirely irredeemable. The characters are children, them being 18 is irrelevant, they are children and their personalities reflect that, plus they are still in high school - that one's on me, I knew they were young, I just didn't realize how young or how obviously young. But yeah the constant woman-hating was grossing me the fuck out. Idk man I read a lot of smur, some of it problematic, but this really bothered me.
A nice, quick and spicy read. This was enemies to lovers paired with a bullying theme. Drake was definitely a bully, some of the things he said to Sam I was like wow okay idk how he’s going to come back from that. I can’t believe all that time wasted over a misunderstanding. I mean I get it they were only 14 at the time but still it sucks!! Drake did redeem himself though I wish Sam would have made him work for it a little harder. I feel like she gave in too fast. Also this would have been 5 stars had Drake not turned into a manwhore the whole time they were apart. That definitely knocked a star off for me. Also why the hell is he talking about her ex while they’re having sex for the first time. Kind of weird. The other scenes were definitely spicy though. This author is a really good writer and the sex scenes are hot.
NO CHEATING NO OW/OM DRAMA VIRGIN FMC MANWHORE MMC BULLYING
So this one is Halloween themed and seems to be a part of a series of short stories (that I will probably read) which follows a friendship group as they all pair off over a number of parties. This is the second in the series and is marketed as enemies to lovers. However, I'm really just getting bully romance vibes, which is not my thing at all.
Sam and Drake were childhood best friends and each other's first kiss, but when we skip forward four years, they are enemies, and Drake is a total dick to Samantha. There are some pretty hot scenes if you forget that everyone is barely legal and still in high school. This story has a few heartwarming moments, and it's dual POV so you can see into everyone's head. Overall, I thought the story was pretty good for what it was, but the "enemies to lovers" and some of the story structure bothered me.
I wasn't sure how to rate this tbh because I typically steer clear of bully romances. This was very triggering for me but that is not completely a bad thing. It does mean the author did her job well. This story broke my heart. Full on had me crying like a baby for almost its entirety. God, I hated high school and this book threw me back into it vividly. The characters actually felt like high school students for once. That definitely helped with the story's authenticity. I find they are either written as if they are 35 year old chain smokers or they are written as bratty and infantile. I don't honestly think I can handle reading the other characters story but I am tempted too. I have questions lol
What to expect: 👿 Bullying (on both sides) 😂 Ex best friends 👿 Virin FMC 😇 Halloween shenanigans 👿 Miscommunication
Didn't realize this was a high school book going in, but pushed through anyway. It took until almost the end of the book for me to like Drake honestly. The bullying was on both sides though, so idk why there is so much hate for him. Someone said this wasn't a standalone and I didn't see that until I finished and I disagree. I was never lost or confused. So can definitely be read as a standalone. Definitely don't go in expecting plot. As most novellas it's a fun good smutty time.
Spoilers H was gross. Like…..eek super disgusting. He totally jumped to a wrong conclusion 4 years previously and assumed his girlfriend/BFF/love of his life- was cheating on him with his scummy brother. Then he spent the next 4 years making her life hell. He even spread rumors on why her vagina smells bad. 🤬
About 70% in, he finds out he was WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING and now he can’t live without her. No grovel. She’s a virgin. He’s not because he’s shagged everything during the 4 years. They have lots of cringe smex without condoms.
Thank god this was a novella because wow, it was rough. The characters were supposed to be 18 and seniors in high school, but they were written like grown adults throwing tantrums the whole time. The spicy scenes read like 2 people that watched way too much porn and we’re trying to imitate what they’ve heard. The whole storyline just felt unrealistic. I can’t believe two neighbors and childhood best friends didn’t talk things out for four years. Definitely not my favorite read, the only reason I finished it was because it was short.
I liked this one WAY more than the first. Sam and Drake were way more likable than Piper and Cord were. If you’re not in to bully romances, this wouldn’t be your cup of tea. Drake says some insane things to Samantha that any girl would punch him for saying. That’s my biggest warning to potential readers.
If the book was longer, I would have loved to see more groveling from Drake. My one critic is how quickly she forgave him. I’d have loved to see him really having to make things up to her.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I wasn’t feeling Drake too much in the beginning with the slut shaming and constant use of the word “bitch” but I guesssssss I understand the hostility on his end, overall this one was fine and was a perfect quick read to read in between other books. I am looking forward to reading Banner and Mercy’s book bc talk about red flags!
(Does anyone else find it funny that these people are supposed to be high schoolers but the models on the cover look like they’re at least 30???? Lmao)
2.25 I didnt like this book that much Like i said previously i know that this kind of books aren't that deep Maybe if it wasn't focused in the smut part and rather in the development of their relationship and themselves i would have like better But that isn't the case i know that this book purpose is not it .You would like if you like smut if you aren't a fan like me it will be meh (the development could have been better)
Meh, wasn't my favorite but better than the first book. I hate that this one is considered enemies to lovers. It is not a true enemies to lovers book. Both characters have a romantic history and their rivalry comes from a place of jealousy and pain.
I was a bit annoyed that the entire "rivalry" could have been resolved if they had just spoken with each other.
This is better than the first book with more connection between both characters.
This was a great book I loved it so much hated for it to end I love that the misunderstanding was finally explained and they both got what they wanted Thanks so much to the author Landry Hill what a fantastic writing job she did with not dragging it out but made it such a page turner that you couldn’t want to see what happened next if anyone hasn’t read it I highly recommend you to you won’t be disappointed
So this series is fantastic so far. I loved the war between Drake and Samantha, both strong, likable characters. There’s an excellent balance between plot and spice, which isn’t always easy for a short story. Actually had me tearing up at parts.
The glimpses into the other stories has me really looking forward to the rest of the books in the series.
This book is better than the first, but some of the word choices gave me the ick. I hate when authors use the word channel or digits and she constantly repeated the word bully when referring to Drake. The book is mid, but it’s a short read and you can get done with it in 3 hours.
This one had me surprisingly feeling all the feels! Drake and Sam really went through their ups and downs to get their HEA and their story had my chest aching at times. This book still gave all the spooky feels and had the spice but had an emotional side to it as well!
