It's been over a decade since the person I considered one of my best friends up and disappeared on me. I tried keeping tabs on her, but years spent on the road as a professional hockey player made that virtually impossible. Now I'm close to my family for the first time in forever, the Sharks have a real shot at that elusive Cup, and even my baby sister found love with my best friend. Everything is looking up. So why does it feel like there's still something missing?
Olivia D'Amore
My entire world changed in a single night. Betrayed by the one person I thought I could trust, I ran home to escape my problems, burying them as deep as they'd go. Only, problems like Bryan Thayer don't like being buried. When a promotion sends me packing to Middle America and right back to the one person I swore I would never see again, we agree to try our hands at rebuilding our friendship. Late night texts start to feel like those nights in the dorms and it's easy to forget why this didn't work.
But time has a way of creating secrets. When those secrets come to light will we survive a second chance....
When Rosie P. Burke got her Bachelor AND Masters degrees in Recreation and Sport Management, she never thought she'd be using them to write sweet and spicy sports romance stories. And yet... PIVOT! She recently published the final book in her first series: the Dropped Puck Series, a six-book series of interconnected stand-alones that focus on the Chicago Sharks hockey team and the women who put those all-stars in their place. Her books are love stories with witty banter, fun spicy-times, and semi-realistic situations (she's never actually dated a professional athlete, so don't AT her if you have. Or do. She loves a good story!) The ultimate compliment would be a "one handed read with relatable characters"! She's hard at work on her newest series which is sure to be sports-themed since sports + smut is a lot of what she knows.
This SAHM lives in Illinois with her husband, their two kids, and a dog who does just enough to keep his spot in the bed. A big fan of historical fiction, Young Adult, and romance of all tropes. She also likes cross-stitch, watching movies, and working out in her home gym. While she's not big on peopling for long periods of time, this southern-raised author does love making new friends.
*** Truth? The older I get, the more I realize: Read the books. Watch the movies. Do you and be you because lord knows we need more gems in a world of fakes. Late in Life doesn't mean it's too late.
Love this book! Bryan and Olivia are great! They have chemistry and rebuilding a friendship from years earlier. Can they make their second chance work or Will secrets come to light and ruin it?.

The characters are great, and they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining steamy page turning romance read with a happily ever after ending. This book is about Olivia and Thayer. Thayer is a professional ice hockey player and Olivia is a journalist. It is a then and now book going backwards and forwards between their first year of college and present day. This is a one that got away romance. It is an addictive read that I couldn’t put down. It has some hot and steamy scenes. This is book 6 in the series and whilst you can read it as a stand alone book, it is best to read them in order. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

I was really lucky to be able to listen to Final Shot by Roise.P.Burke which is wonderfully narrated by Harlow Wilde. Harlow does a fabulous job at portraying ALL of the characters in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her tell this story. Final Shot is the last book in the Dropped Puck series and so it was kind of a bittersweet listen for me,as I have really enjoyed listening to every book. This is Bryan Thayer's story who is Bitsy's brother her story was book one,and the events of that book play a part in this book. What happened to Bitsy in her book we get to see it from her brother Bryan's point of view, which was really interesting and I loved learning how Thayer felt and what he thought. Read the Trigger warnings as the abuse Bitsy endured might make people uncomfortable.. The love interest for Thayer is Olivia who he went to college with..They were best friends that became more, until Olivia left without a word leaving Bryan heartbroken. There was alot of miscommunication between them... It is 10 years later and Olivia is a journalist and she is back in Thayers life as she is sent to Chicago to follow 2 hockey players and write about it...Yes you guessed it one of them is Bryan Thayer. To be fair They both handle it well seeing one another again..but the past is over shadowing them as explanations need to be addressed. Thayer and Olivia fall easily into friendship again but the issues of their past needs to be resolved before they can move on. Bryan is quite honest and lets Olivia know he wants her back in his life as more than a friend..But this re-connection could possibly have consequences to Olivia and her professional career. This book goes back and forth between the Past and the present so we understand the dynamics of Thayer and Olivia's friendship, and of course the passion they have for one another. I really enjoyed listening to this book Rosie's writing was excellent and very detailed and it was such a pleasure listening to Final Shot. The ending was so good and perfect for Olivia and Thayer. A great finale to a fantasic series. 5 Stars.
Final Shot is the last story in the Dropped Puck series and it once again showcases Ms. Burke's understanding and insight into the game of hockey. Three years ago, Bryan Thayer was traded to the NHL Chicago Sharks and the team is in the hunt for the Stanley Cup. Olivia D'Amore is a journalist whose promotion sends her to Chicago to follow two of the stars on the Sharks. One is Bryan Thayer, a man she ran from ten years ago because of a misunderstanding. Now that she's going to be covering him in his day-to-day life, perhaps they can finally have an honest conversation to find their way back to each other. Bryan and Olivia met in college when he helped her move into her dorm room. There was an immediate attraction and they became best friends, although both were secretly wishing it were more. Bryan made a big mistake when his teammates asked him if Olivia was his girlfriend, his answer hurt her deeply and she left for home. Separated for ten years, her promotion comes through and the second chance presents itself. This is a heartwarming book that includes a look back at the other Sharks and their partners. It's a successful way of dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's. Take notice of the author's comment at the beginning where she clarifies that there will be some material that could be triggering. Harlow Wilde does an excellent job with the narration. Her dynamic, expressive voice gives each of the characters a unique personality and attitude.
Final Shot Dropped #6 By Rosie P Burke Narrated by Harlow Wilde
Second chances. Do they work out? Olivia and Bryan met in college, and over time became best friends. Slowly their relationship changed into more, but a misunderstanding pulls them apart. Now years later, Bryan has become the professional hockey star and she the sports journalist and as their paths cross, feelings resurface. But will it be enough to forgive and go on to find their happiness? Rose P Burke's love story is not an easy one. Tragedy strikes making commitment uneasy for Bryan and Olivia has trust issues. Plus life is just getting in their way. This is a fantastic listen for the end of the series.
Harlow Wilde narrates this story and does a fabulous job. She goes between characters with ease making the story flow. I enjoyed her performance and the book.
As with the other books in the series the narrator did a good job. This is a second chance, friends to lovers. The two met in college when Thayer helped Olivia move in and a friendship was formed that turned into something more, than a misunderstanding has Olivia running home. Years later a job opportunity has them back together. Not only do you get their story past and present but you also get what Brian was feeling with what happened to his sister, the relationship between his sister and roommate/teammate. I enjoyed it. I got to not only listen to a series I enjoyed, I was also introduced to a new author.
We meet Thayer who is a professional ice hockey player and Olivia is a journalist. Both knew each other college. Years later they meet again, both of them agree to attempt to rebuild their friendship and maybe a chance of a second chance of romance. It has some hot and steamy scenes, they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining .
This series comes to an end and we find that miss communication can change lives. It's a good story. I, however, wish that the protagonist was handled with more karma/ finality. I certainly would make sure this is listened to as it's meant to be the last of the series. If this is not followed you will get spoilers for the other stories.
Bryan and Olivia were best friends who went their separate ways. Fate brings them back together again 10 years later. They agree to attempt to rebuild their friendship but will it be enough to give them their second chance?
Excellent. This book was a longer time-span than others in the series but worth it. The different time frames were clearly marked and tied into current events well. Well thought out, led to a well crafted story. Highly recommend.
Okay, I want to know if Bryan will be my book boyfriend for the week. He's so yummy, yummy you could just eat him up. I'm not sure what Olivia's problem is... hold on, yes I do.
Best friends from the time they met, Olivia and Bryan were bound to push boundaries. But would this boundary be something they could come back from? Olivia made up her mind ten years ago, will circumstance bring her decision to an end?
Wow, Rosie, you really brought the tension to light in this book. I loved feeling the tug and pull that these two wonderful characters brought to the page/ear... whatever; they brought it.
Another hockey romance listen that really had me going. Narrator Harlow Wilde did an astounding job nailing character voices.
I'd like to thank the author for the opportunity to listen to and review this book.
4.5 Stars! Can’t believe it’s over… but loved this book so much! 💕
Final Shot is the 6th and final book in the Dropped Puck series. It’s a second chance, hockey romance between professional hockey player, Bryan Thayer, and journalist, Olivia D’Amore. Bryan and Olivia originally met at university and struck up a friendship. They both had an attraction to each other at the time but did not pursue it. However, something happened at the end of the year that caused their friendship to sour and they haven’t been in contact for years. Years later, Olivia gets a promotion that has her working for the hockey team that Bryan plays for.
This was such a satisfying conclusion to the series, but I’m so sad to finish.😭 Anyways, I really enjoyed this book. It was lovely seeing Bryan and Olivia rebuild their relationship and then the romance. 🥰 The story was entertaining and romantic. They had great chemistry and some great moments. Also, as always, it was also really nice seeing some of our other characters from the other books in the series in this.
Overall, this was great and I cannot wait to jump into another series by Rosie P. Burke. I really love the way she writes her characters and the story and world she creates! 💕
Harlow Wilde was great with the narration. She brought the characters and the overall story and plot to life!
Thanks to the author, Rosie P. Burke, for letting me be on her audio arc team and providing me with a review copy of this book. All opinions provided in this review are entirely my own.
Rosie P. Burke has quickly become one of my favorite steamy romance authors, and Final Shot is hands-down my favorite book in the series! I was completely hooked from the first page, the chemistry, the emotion, the tension, all of it was perfectly balanced and beautifully written.
Bryan is the kind of character you instantly root for. After years on the road as a pro hockey player, he's finally back home, surrounded by family and success, but still haunted by the one person who got away. And Olivia? I felt every bit of her heartbreak, her hesitation, and her strength. Their reunion is messy, tender, passionate, everything you want in a second-chance romance.
The story is full of heart, heat, and just the right amount of angst. The late-night texts, the emotional build-up, and the slow re-ignition of what they once had made this story impossible to put down. And when the secrets start to unravel? I was holding my breath.
I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator did a great job. If you love sports romance with depth, chemistry, and a whole lot of feels, Final Shot is a must-read. Rosie P. Burke knocked it out of the park, or should I say, hit a hat trick with this one!
