Alexis Winter is taking a shot at dark romance with No Redemption and I am here for it.
I've got to be honest- dark romance isn't quite my thing. Sure, I enjoy it but I have to be in the right mood for it. This book is addicting, intense, and had me on edge in all the ways. Emery and Mads have this intense chemistry just permeating throughout the story- even when Emery was still very much still in her bubble of happiness with her husband- and Mads best friend, Dane, and it only gets better as the story moves on.
The pull between these two sucked me in- along with the twists that sometimes caught me completely off guard. The elements of danger for Emery paired with the deep seated love but almost disdain from Mads created this vortex of interest for me. The heat though? DAYUM... Alexis had me sweatin like a sinner in church with the sexiness and spice happening between Emery and Mads.
I really enjoyed the formation of this relationship and the way that they connected in ways they didn't expect, though I did feel like I was missing a bit of something in their relationship. They went from essential enemies to more after Dane died- which was fine- I think that I was more taken back by the way that Emery kind of just accepted the truths she learned after Dane almost so easily. She was so smart and inquisitive that she didn't just accept the nature of Dane's death but when Mads lays out all the cards on the table shortly after she starts to poke around it was like she just went with it mostly. I did enjoy kind of experiencing this emotional cycle of Mads- the way he denied and avoided the temptation of Emery to embracing his desire for her and letting the little secret moments of romance brought this extra layer to the story.
Overall I'd have to say fantastic jump into a new genre of romance for Alexis and I can't wait to see what else she can do with it in the future.

What a fantastic story! It was full of secrets, suspense and of course LOTS of spice!! I love Alexis Winter's work. I have read a lot of her books but this one was a new twist for her. And I think I am gonna like it! Cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!! Fantastic job, Ms. Winter!!

Wow Emery and Mads take you on quite the rollercoaster ride, hang on tight. Their story is full of twists and turns. How everything keeps changing is a real page turner till the very end to see if they can figure it all out and get their HEA. Fantastic read!.

Murder/suicide...?
As I came to the final words of Mads and Emory's story, I found myself wondering at my easy acceptance of the harsher details of their story. I don't feel that Mads needs to deal with any more or any other retribution, in spite of his horrific acts. Those men deserved what they got. And that's all I have to say about that.

This was a very quick read.
Edgy, but not nearly as dark as the synopsis portended.
Emery’s husband was a con and a set up. She’s so young and she falls head over heels. He plans to murder her.
Mads sort of set the plan in motion, in that he introduced them. He had no idea about the murder plot to take place after their fifth anniversary.
But, Mads has always loved her. He takes care of the situation.
He takes care of several situations.
Their hate story becomes a love story. Becomes a sickeningly sweet love story. With way too many sex scenes thrown in to prove they love each other.

Dark and twisted with how the relationship started. But very loving relationship. BDSM elements but nothing too dark or unsettling. Sure there’s a plot but it’s mostly smut. There is no violence or infidelity between the main chars.

She couldn't stay away from him because she wanted answers. Upon digging into Dane's financials she came across several two hundred and fifty thousand dollars charges to MXB which leads her right back to Mads front door. MXB is exclusive kink gentleman's club owned by Mads. After three months away in Italy to grief and find herself Emery went back to Chicago a different woman, things come to a head after she found evidence of Dane's cheating and life insurance plans that she had no idea about. She went to Mads and threatened him that she would not leave until he gave her the answers that she needs. Mads eventually confessed everything to her and his role in everything. After dust cleared the two decided to take a chance on each of. Mads shows Emery a love that she never knew existed and the passion was intense, electrifying and scorching hot. Mads introduced Emery to life that she has never been exposed to before, one where she would explore her sexuality and her darkest desires. To say Alexis Winter completely caught me off guard with her newest release No Redemption is an understatement.
It was unexpected and surprising to say the least, especially when you take into consideration how dark it was compared to the type of books Alexis usually writes.
No Redemption follows the story of Emery Ashford and Madden ‘Mads’ Xavier Bishop in this Enemies to Lovers, Age Gap, Forbidden, Dark Romance. All of which is through the telling of their dual perspectives.
Emery, who is married to Dane Ashford and is celebrating their wedding anniversary, thinks she is living the perfect life with a perfect marriage. And yet unbeknownst to her that couldn’t be furthest from the truth.
So when tragedy hits, she turns to her husbands best friend Mads for answers, despite their hatred for one another in search of answers.
However will she be able to handle Mads and the revelations that come to light involving him and her husband?
Honestly this story blew me away, not only with the character development of Emery and Mads. But as well as the enthralling and captivating storyline that Alexis delivered in this whirlwind rollercoaster ride.
From the get go she had me intrigued, which grew even more from the constant ups, downs, drops and loops, indicating not only to the many twists and turns that came about and shocked you given what was divulged. Surprising you from left to right, considering all the hidden secrets behind the mysteries that came to light along the way.
It just seemed to be one bombshell after another, keeping you gripped from being so entrance, you couldn’t help but fall down the rabbit hole that was Emery, Mads and their story.
With the suspenseful build, it paved the way for a plot that had much to give.
You will be hooked with being on the edge of your seat in anticipation, hanging onto each and every page in this intense page turner.
From all the drama, betrayal, lies and deception, which brought on deep and tension filled emotions and feelings, amongst the angsty. It will have you feeling everything for and alongside Emery and Mads in their crazy journey.
When it came to the characters, Alexis had Emery and Mads shining so bright in their development.
Their personal POVs, not only gave us an in-depth look into their characters. Allowing for their layers to be peeled back, exposing them on a fuller and deeper level.
But with their internal monologue, it went even further, from being able to hear, learn and understand the inner depths of their thoughts, views, opinions and emotions they were navigating through. Allowing for progress within their growth, given how far each of them had come.
Then again it was understandable so, given the situations and events they veered through and faced. Especially on Emery’s part.
With every new release Alexis always seems to up the ante. And No Redemption is the latest proof.
The sexual tension between Emery and Mads was like a beacon that never stopped shining. Considering their sizzling chemistry burned bright with every interaction between.
It was no surprise when they did come together and got down and dirty, it resulted in one of many explosive fireworks display of Sexy, Uninhibited, Lustful, Raunchy steam!
The Spice level was Red-Hot packed with all the Juicy heat!
After reading No Redemption by Alexis Winter, which was a truly great and terrific read.
Fingers crossed this isn’t the last we have seen of Dark Romance from Alexis, because she knocked it out of the park! And has me hoping for more to come from her in the future hopefully.

I have to take a breath right now because this was absolutely scorching hot! 🥵 Darker and dirtier than anything I've read so far from Alexis and I loved every second of it!
Emery was lost in her marriage, essentially a trophy wife to a narcissistic husband. She longed for the freedom to express herself fully and without judgment. Mads gets to Emery before she goes home and he takes her to his penthouse. Mads then goes to Dane and Emery’s house to wait for Dane. Dane arrives and tells Mads that he is going to make him kill Emery. Mads kills Dane and says that he killed himself. Mads recorded the conversation he had with Dane before he killed him. Mads then goes back home and tells Emery that Dane shot himself. Emery is devastated but when she gets the statements from the bank she finds out that Dane was spending a million dollars a month on a place that she finds out is owned by Mads. Mads eventually tells her that Dane was not the man she thought he was. Dane paid for prostitutes and did drugs. Emery has thought about being with Mads for awhile. Mads and Emery end up having sex and Emery discovers that she likes it on the rough side. Mads tells Emery that he bought all the anniversary gifts that Dane gave her. Emery discovers that she didn’t really know Dane. Emery moves in with Mads. They declare their love for each other. Will Emery find that she wants to run the family business? This is Alexis Winter's first trip into the dark romance genre and she did a fantastic job! Mads is best friends with Dane and Dane is married to Emery. Emery thinks that Mads hates her but that could be the furthest thing from the truth. As the story goes along we learn exactly what Mads has done to ensure Emery's happiness. Because of that, his protective nature and the way he treats her you can't help but fall for him. Emery was a different story though because she was so delusional about how perfect that her husband Dane was. But as the reality sets in for her and she finally started accepting that her life wasn't as perfect as it seemed I started to like her more and more. The spice in this book is plentiful but there's also a great storyline and the romance through the back half of the book just warms you up and makes you smile. I can't wait to see where Alexis's dark romance trip takes us!

WOW!!! What a ride. A brilliant story with all the feels. So much angst between Emery and Mads at the beginning of this story, has you unsure which way this story will go.
Mads stood by and watched his best friend, Dane use Emery for her money and status. Dane wanted it all. Emery loved her husband, Dane, and did not realise he was leading a double life. When Mads is told that Dane intends to kill his wife and live with her fortune as his, Mads knows he has to step up and save Emery. He has stood by for 5 years, loving her from afar, but now he knows Dane's plans he will not let anything happen to her. The fiery passion between Emery and Mads ignite the pages having you wanting more.
Lots of secrets and inuendo lead to Emery trying to find out what happened to Dane, as she could not believe he committed suicide.
She refuses to admit that Mads means anything to her, and continues to distrust him, but finds he is the only one that is there for her after Dane's death.

This book is so unlike Alexis Winter's previous books and quite far out of my comfort zone but very readable.
She hated him with every fibre of her being, she hated even more the fact that she was strangely attracted to him.
Emery Ashford was living the perfect life, the only child of extremely wealthy parents, married to Dane, a man who wasn't born to wealth but who had worked hard to earn it, a man who was thoughtful, a man who adored her............a man that she didn't know at all.

This story is dark and violent, it covers murder, corruption, it delves into the private room of members only, erotic clubs, but it also uncovers the love hate relationship between Emery and Mads, a chemistry that neither of them can deny or resist, a passion that is explosive, a love that goes beyond passion. No Redemption is a new genre from Alexis Winter and it's fantastic. It is a dark, forbidden enemies to lovers story. It features Emery and Mads but they do not get along, Emery doesn't understand why but Mads secretly loves her. Emery is happily married to Mads best friend Dane or so she thinks. She thinks she has the perfect marriage but despite this she still feels like something is missing. For Dane the marriage is a means to an end, he wants her money and will do anything to get it including kill her. Mads finds out what Dane is planning and decides that there is only one way to end this. After tragedy happens Emery turns to Mads for answers and realises she didn't know Dane at all, in fact she didn't really love him either.
A really great story from Alexis, I hope this isn't the last dark story we see from her. I loved the characters, despite what happened to Emery she grabbed everything she wanted with both hands. Mads is your typical dark bad boy unapologetic for the way he behaved. These two had fantastic chemistry and it was great to read their story. I loved it can't wait to see what comes next.

Review - no redemption by Alexis Winter

This is Alexis’s first dark romance but it still had everything that I like about Alexis’s writing. While it is a bit darker compared to Alexis’s other books it's not as dark compared to some I have read so if this is your first dark romance I don't think it would be too much. Emery and Mads clearly have chemistry that is never acted on as Emery is married to Dane (Mads friend). This chemistry slowly bubbles throughout the book until it boils over and my god does it boil over.
As the secrets start to be uncovered I do think Emery accepts everything rather calmly and quickly. Her marriage wasn't what she thought it was and that takes a little bit of getting used to but she's fast to forever Mads of any wrong doings and they soon build a solid and loving relationship. Yeah there's a few red flags when it comes to Mads but as always this is a book and not real life and it worked for them. Mads’s protectiveness of Emery is rather hot though major look at her and die vibes.
It wouldn't be an Alexis book without me wanting to slap the male mc and bash their heads together and there are definitely a few of those moments in this book.

Great story.
This was a book that once I started I couldn't put down. It had drama, suspense, lies, pain & mega hot & steamy.
Mads had loved Emery from afar for years after she married his best friend Dane an agreement which would allow Dane to become the successful businessman. Emery was unaware of this arrangement & believed Dane loved her which was so far from the truth & it was when Dane threatened Emery's life that he put a stop to it. Emery had always thought Mads hated her so when Mads told her about Dane's death taking his own life Mads knew she was hurting having lost her husband but he was hurting but not because he lost his best friend but that he couldn't be with the woman he loved so tried to stay away. We see a different side to Emery after she finds out the truth about the real Dane from Mads & even after finding out everything Mads had done she realised that deep down she had feelings for Mads that she never truly felt with Dane. Together they make an amazing team & Mads vows to protect her at all costs but their happy ever after is almost ended before it had a proper start.

This book was an enemy to lovers romance. She was married to his best friend and he had to watch her be in love with someone else for so many years. I liked how in love with her he was. He felt so guilty about his role in things that were going on in her life that he remained in her life as an "enemy" just to be in her life and keep an eye on her. When he finally got his chance to really make a move and be with her he acted like an idiot but redeemed himself later. For her I wish she would've taken more time for herself and even if there was more of a time-gap for her to go away and come back and have them reconnect later. She processed her trauma really quickly and I would've actually liked to have seen more of the investigation part if the mystery.
Overall. this was a fairly quick read so the characters weren't as developed as I would've liked for a story with this much emotional angst but it was still an interesting story with a HEA.

Oh, Alexis!––we have been on a first-name basis for several years, though she has no idea. I 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 “No Redemption.” Not too many books land in my pile of “re-reads.” You know, the pile you reach for of books you like to read repeatedly. “No Redemption” has not only qualified, it said to move out of the way.
When Emery’s husband d¡es under unique circumstances, she is consoled by her husband’s best friend, Mads. From there, so much mystery unravels about her husband and how Mads feels about her. Alexis writes a fascinating plot that I found engaging to the end.
But what had me honestly floored were all those schm¡nky scenes. From the hand necklaces, sp¡† in the m•ü†h, safe words, and grabbing the headboard moments — I was nodding, saying “five-star read, five-star read.” The mouth on Mads was five stars in itself.
“No Redemption” is darker than the other books Alexis writes. Mads is described as morally grey and does such actions. I enjoyed every moment of it and will again and again.

A Great Story!
Emery was young & naïve when she & Dane got married. For 5 yrs. she felt they had the perfect marriage but learns her marriage is a sham; based on lies & secrets. Dane has an ulterior motive & Mads, his longtime best friend, stops him in order to protect Emery. Mads has always been around them so it’s not unusual for Emery to seek him out for advice & the truth about Dane in order to get closure. Mads confesses he has loved her for years but will she believe him or will she be able to release the hatred she has for him? Emery emerges as the strong woman by taking the reins of her business & with Mads in her life, she discovers what true love feels like plus he shows her ‘The Scarlet Letter’ business.
Oh boy! What a sinfully hot romantic story! I couldn’t put it down! This novel is great! A thrilling page-turning story in true Alexis Winter’s style.

From the very beginning, this book had me completely captivated! The secrets, lies, and dirty machinations along with great characters made this book hard to put down.
I liked Emery. She was young and naive, but a good person with a kind and giving heart. Dane… ugh! Let’s just say he got what he so richly deserved. And then there’s Madden. He was hard to read in the very beginning, until Dane revealed all his plans. Then it became clear what he wanted and who he wanted to protect. Just about all of the quotes I highlighted were from Mads. He truly has a way with words.
I couldn’t get enough of Mads and Emery together. It was clear that they had a spark, even when it seemed that there was animosity between them. I loved that he wanted to keep her safe, even if it meant pusher away. I liked how it all played out. It wasn’t easy, but they got their well deserved happily ever after.

Mads is Emery's husbands friend, he knows what he is like as he was behind the plan in the first place. But over time he fell in love with Emery and made sure to be around so he could protect her. When he realises that her husband's plan to kill her is due to happen, he takes things into his own hands in order to protect Emery.
This brings them together in a way Mads always hoped, even though he tries to resist her, he can't and Emery cant' seem to help desire him. But what happens when she finds out the truth about her husband and Mads involvement.

I’m wowed by No Redemption. It’s complicated and dark and spectacularly spicy. When we first meet Emery, she’s married to Dane, and they’re celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary. Things aren’t what they seem though, and soon enough she finds herself a widow. Dane’s best friend, Mads, is there to console her, but it’s all so much more than that.
This book has so much intrigue, and every page divulges just a little bit more. It’s truly a rollercoaster, and I could not put it down. And the connection between Emery and Mads? It leaps from the pages and is far beyond what I expected at the start. I love a good enemies to lovers romance, but the turns this storyline takes brings so much more.
This enemies to lovers, age gap romance has everything I want in a dark romance. The characters and plotline do not disappoint, and I really hope to see more like this from Winter.

Emery is kind of like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. She has what she thinks is a good marriage to Dane but eventually finds out all the things he was hiding while presenting the facade of a perfect husband. He was more like a rotten (amoral) apple. Mads has always been in the background (secretly keeping an eye on her), but like a schoolboy, instead of showing he likes her, he’s snarky and needling at every meeting. I loved how their relationship grew, how she went from a soft, very naive person to a steel-backboned adult. Mads was always there for her, just wanting her to be safe and happy - with him, whether that was exploring all her sexual needs or spreading her business wings. Good story!.

I loved this book but that being said, I was always waiting for something "big to happen". Other reviewers have said this was Alexis Winter's first dark romance and if that is true, she definitely has found a new niche and I hope she writes more like these. So many secrets, dark surprises, and one page turner after another. I really loved Mad's character from the start but when I read what he did to protect the woman he has loved (from afar) since he first met her, and she ended up marrying his best friend. This one is definitely a story that will have you addicted from the very beginning (as I was) and I personally hope she comes out with more stories like this!.

A truly great book.
Emery is married to Dane but his friend Mads knows her whole relationship is based on a lie.
Suspense, deceit, danger and Betrayal really play a huge part in this story. But I felt sorry for poor Mads who truly loved her from afar but couldn't tell her the truth.
It was a complex relationship both between Emery and Mads as well as Dane.
I did have emotional feelings on what her husband was doing. It was a challenging book in theme and I'm glad I got to read it.

Having read many books by this author, I wasn't sure I was going to like her version of a dark romance. But how wrong I was, I loved it. Emery is married to Dane when his best friend, Madden discovers Emery was in danger from her husband. There were many plot twists as Madden tries to protect Emery. As the story develops, Emery, who originally disliked Madden, realises that he is in her corner and that there is a mutual chemistry between them. Once they get together, a hot and steamy relationship begins as they try and navigate their future with each other.
