On her 15th anniversary, Ava discovers her husband, Noah, naked and dead!
While the authorities suspect it may be suicide by a possible drug overdose, Ava firmly believes Noah could never do such a thing.
Amidst her grief, the FBI intervenes, unveiling Noah's involvement in embezzlement within his company. Could his alleged suicide have been a desperate attempt to escape impending exposure?
Ava embarks on a mission to vindicate Noah's reputation, but what she unearths will leave her profoundly shaken in this gripping narrative of betrayal and concealed truths.
In a relentless race against time to unveil the startling reality, one thing remains evident: This will not end well.
This was a pretty short book, but very captivating. It had me interested throughout the whole book. I wanted to know what the story was and what happened. But it was a little predictable and she moved on quite fast in my opinion. I still don't know what the whole deal/story is and the ending really had me intrigued, so I will definitely continue the series.
Very short read. I would say 3.5. I feel as though so much was left out yet there was plenty there. I realize this is just the first book, but it’s definitely not what I expected. Detective Gabriel and the entire situation leaves me very confused and seems suspicious.

I felt like it was very choppy. Paragraphs weren't formed well, the tid bit about Adam's body being found was said twice. Abruptly ended with no details. Definitely could have been longer.
This was a really cute read, I definitely enjoyed it and didn’t see the ending coming, which I thought was very well done. There were a couple parts I found a wee bit confusing, but they cleared up after reading further in most cases.
I definitely think that this is something most people would enjoy if you’re looking for a mystery short read, and definitely recommend.
I do like that it was a short read. The plot was interesting enough that it made me want to keep reading til the end. But the story progressed so fast that it made me confused at some parts, and I think that worked against the novel as a whole. I would have liked to spend more time with the characters, getting to know more of what makes them tick. I would have also liked to see more of the connections between characters, especially with the protagonist and the detective. Also, the plot twist came so suddenly and the whole island thing really confused me. What did Noah’s company or Chloe have to do with all the island shenanigans? I didn’t get it… maybe it’s reader error on my part. Anyway, I would give this a 2.5 star-rating. It’s not THAT bad, but I don’t think I’ll be reaching for this again any time soon.

I received a brand new Kindle as a gift, and among the first books I downloaded was this one. What drew me in was its brevity; it was a concise read that didn't demand too much time commitment. As a woman, I particularly appreciated that the story was narrated from Ava's perspective. It lent an authentic touch to the narrative, making it relatable and believable.
One aspect I found refreshing was the story's realism. Unlike many domestic thrillers that tend to be over-the-top and melodramatic, this story stayed grounded, making it all the more engrossing.
However, the one aspect that left me both intrigued and slightly impatient was the cliffhanger ending. The anticipation of reading Sadirah's side of the story has been building, and I can't wait to delve deeper into her perspective.
In summary, this book was a delightful choice for my new Kindle, offering a realistic narrative and an engaging storyline. The only itch it left me with is the eagerness to explore Sadirah's point of view in the forthcoming installment.
I always think mystery/suspense/thriller books give people ideas how to kill! Lol The ending and the way Noah was killed came as a surprise to me and made me think.... it's possible! Like I've read Gone girl and the lengths the lady goes to trap her husband is insane but it makes me think would anyone do it? But here, I feel... lol it's pretty doable. Guys im not trying it so relax.
I liked the book and I'm waiting for the next part cuz the author did me wrong by ending it on a cliffhanger
This book had a lot of potential, but it reads more like a draft. So many areas it could be expanded on, or more depth given. In its current form it has continuity errors, unnecessary repetition (which can be somewhat conflicting)and some pretty loose grammar; though there is a great story line that would be so much more engrossing if character development was explored more thoroughly.
I will not be finishing this book. At about 6% in, the author seems to have left in their AI/ChatGPT prompt "Certainly! Here's a more coherent version of the paragraph:"
Not to mention in the short amount of time I read, the writing was clunky and the dialogue wasn't great either.
I really enjoyed the book. It was short, interesting and kept me hooked from start to finish. I started this on the subway and finished by the time I got home. I can't wait for the next book because beware guys this one ends on a massive cliffhanger.
this was short but so good!! the only thing i wish had been different is i wish it was longer. normally, stuff your kindle books tend to fall flat but this one kept me on my toes the entire time. Very fast read and i cant wait to see what this author comes up with next.
