Grendel never believed love could conquer all. She’d better be wrong.

Beowulf’s brother, the Dragon King, has found an unstoppable weapon, and that weapon is Beowulf. With Beowulf’s Magick, the Dragon King is creating an army capable of destroying all in its path.

Can Grendel convince herself love is a force strong enough to break down the most powerful walls … the ones inside?

Can she convince Beowulf she is not the enemy, or will Beowulf follow the path of his namesake, and let pride and a thirst for vengeance destroy Grendel’s homeland and himself?

Grendel's faith and Beowulf's choice will decide the fate of monsters and empires, humans and non-humans, the living, and the dead.

C. Gockel got her start writing fanfiction, and she is not ashamed! Much. She received emails, messages and reviews from her fans telling her she should 'do this professionally'. She didn't; because she is a coward and life as a digital designer, copywriter and coder is more dependable. But in the end, her husband's nagging wore her down: "You could be the next '50 Shades of Gray' and I could retire!" Unfortunately, the author isn't much for writing smut. She is sad about this; she'd love for her husband to be able to retire and just work for her so she could nag him.

At the moment, Ms. Gockel is working on the next installment of her Archangel Project series.

I was given an ARC for an honest review and my review follows. But I have also purchased this book to support this author because she tells some of the best stories.

I love how Ms. Gockel takes those stories we are all familiar with and turn them on their head. She makes the reader think very differently about who is supposed to be the villains. She takes those perfect heroes and make you feel that they are not so perfect and might not be successful without a villain to help.

This story takes love and family to a new level. You can see the hard time that Bayo has trying to reconcile his upbringing and what his knows about family to the person that Grendel sees when she looks at him. They are just not the same and he struggles to figure it out.

One thing that comes across again in this story is the Bayo and Grendel can work so well as a team. Bayo is life and Grendel is death. They are told by Zonta when she first meets them: “Life without Death isn’t pleasant” and you have to wonder how she knows that. Together they are a team, apart they are lost.

Totally enjoyed this story and seeing how their relationship develops and how Bayo comes to terms with so many new things that are the opposite of what he was taught.

I have loved this entire series. C. Gockel is an amazing story teller, weaving together magical worlds with hints of current political issues. The characters and storylines are well developed and leave me thoroughly engaged and invested in the outcome. This is the end of the story for Grendel and Bayo, but is it? Maybe it’s just wishful thinking on my part. I feel like there’s more to come with Theo, Grendel, Bayo and the Fae. Time will tell. In any case, this is another great series by this talented author.

And she did it again...
C. Gockel creates an atmosphere full of emotion, tension, despair but also trust, closeness and understanding.
Will Gremdel and Beowulf find a common path?
In any case, it is littered with obstacles. Beowulf, who raises the dead for the Dragon King without actually wanting to, and Grendel, who together with the Storm King searches for ways to save Beowulf.
As always, it remains exciting until the very end

Great series.

I enjoyed the story, characters, and realms. I would recommend it.
It just needs to be said that there is a lot of room and reference to move the story forward. It made the ending almost, almost incomplete.
I am trying to stress the almost part.

a fabulous conclusion!

Another great series by C. Gockel! Great characters, an unexpected protagonist! Interesting and believable alternate future. I came to care for the characters and am sad the series is over. Although the seeds for a sequel are firmly planted!

A good end to a good series. What's even better is the ending is left open, meaning it would be easy to expand in the future. I hope many more books are written in this series in the future, I have enjoyed the plot a lot but many things are left unexplained or half finish because the ending is kind of abrupt. It's like the last divergent film...

Dragged a bit

Enjoyed the other books found this one dragged on a bit and I really struggled to read to the end as I got quite bored, which is very rare for myself. Was disappointed with the story's end. It was lacking the passion of the other books.

Yet another MUST-READ

This book is the final installment of the series, abs I couldn't have been more impressed! Great story arc, awesome character development and character arcs, and well-paced storytelling!
