Highland Hunters #4

The Scot's Vow

Ceit MacAdam has dreamed of becoming the finest archer in all of Scotland. And as a guardswoman patrolling the land to rid the Highlands of English marauders, she has plenty of opportunities to hone her skills and show off her talents. But when her eyesight fails her in the thick of a battle, she finds herself wounded in both body and spirit.

Brin Cameron has spent nearly twenty years avoiding matters of the heart. As a young man he’d been crushed by a lass and has foresworn entanglements ever since. And yet, as heir to the chief of Clan Cameron, he must take a bride. He cannot risk another battle without securing an heir but he has spent too many years avoiding love to think he will find it now.

When Ceit and her troop of patrollers join with Brin to defend against invaders, the pull between them is undeniable. Ceit, so full of passion and courage, is the partner Brin never knew he wanted. As they battle their way through the Highlands, Brin shows Ceit that life has more in store for her, even a life off the battlefield, that is beyond even her wildest dreams.

Ceit MacAdam is a brave and skilled archer who patrols the land to fight against the English invaders. This has given her multitudes of opportunities to sharpen her skills and have her dream come true as being the best archer in all of Scotland. Brin Cameron, the heir of Clan Cameron has fought any relationships with females for twenty years, when he had his heart broken by a lass. However, he knows he cannot keep going into battles and not have a wife and heir secured for the future of the clan. Their paths cross when Ceit and her fellow guards join Brin’s clan to defend their territory from a common enemy. Despite their initial mistrust and resentment, they soon develop a mutual attraction and respect for each other.

The Scot’s Vow is a captivating and engaging story that combines action, adventure, romance, and historical details. The author does a great job of creating realistic and likable characters, as well as vivid descriptions of the Scottish Highlands and the medieval warfare. The plot is well-paced and full of twists and turns that keep the reader interested and invested in the outcome. The romance between Ceit and Brin is sweet and passionate, as they overcome their personal challenges and learn to trust and love each other. I enjoyed reading The Scot’s Vow and I would recommend it to anyone who loves historical romance novels with strong and independent heroines, honorable and protective heroes, and a rich and authentic historical setting. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Scot's Vow
Keira Montclair
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ceit MacAdam has always dreamed of becoming the best archer in all of Scotland. She also would love for her grandfather to think the same of her. But when on patrol, her eyesight fails her, and she finds herself not only physically injured, but also her spirit takes that blow to heart.

Brin Cameron has been staying away from any and all afairs of the heart for almost twenty years. When he was young, he had his heart squashed by a lass and has sworn off entanglements ever since. And yet, as heir to the cheif of Clan Cameron, he must take a bride soon.

Keira Montclair is absolutely fabulous. These main characters are perfect for each other. Brin is honorable and has been deeply hurt in the past, so he's hesitant to love again. Ceit, is a feirce archer who has been trained by the best, and she doesn’t back down from any skirmish, but her eye sight is giving her problems so she's no longer sure what her purpose in life is.
Ms. Montclair combines historical facts with romance and adds in action and adventure. What comes out is the perfect book set in Scotland with the perfect plot. I never knew what was around the corner, but when I turned the pages and found what came next I was always left with a satisfied feeling. I can't say anything bad about this book because in my opinion it was the perfect book.
Well, what are you waiting for grab this book because you won't be sorry.

The Scot's Vow - has everything I love in a historical romance book -highly recommend!!

Brin Cameron and Ceit Ramsay MacAdams' story grabs the reader from the first page and doesn't let go until The End. There is so much in this book - Ceit's personal anxiety and desire to be the best archer in the Ramsay clan and all of Scotland like her grandmother, Brin's seeming ambivalence in following his father as Chief of the Cameron clan and determination to marry on his terms, the chemistry and heat between Ceit and Brin, how their love story progresses, and the action in the battle scenes is fabulous! And when the Grants, Ramsay's and Cameron's all come together in battle . . .epic!

So many wonderful characters in this book, many familiar, known and so beloved and some brand new. As in all of this author's books, strong female characters!! And the surprises - wonderful reveals that made me laugh and touched my heart. And the Epilogue - my heart! This is a book that I will read over and over again. Thank you, Keira, for a super enjoyable read!

I was blessed to be gifted an ARC of this book and this review is my true and honest opinion of this book.

As the story builds so does the suspense. I had a hard time not reading ahead to see what outcome would be for all.

One thing about Keira Montclair she knows how to write characters that come to life. You'll feel you know them personally and hurt when they hurt.

Story filled with old favorite characters from previous stories, that will bring a smile to your face. Even though part of a wonderful series, it is a standalone.

Many nasty villains with some groping, intrigue, violence, surprises, great main and secondary characters. Sweet epilogue 1 month in the future.

Lovemaking within marriage - heat level 5 out of 5 and described once. Foreplay prior to marriage, heat level 3 out of 5. The MC worked and you felt a connection to them so lovemaking filled with passion and not lust.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, nice set up for next story, romance builds slowly and some steam. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you some extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase.

I received ARC and all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)

One Kiss changed Everything:
This is a thrilling slow building romance between Ceit an excellent archer and Brin the mighty warrior of Clan Cameron whom neither one ever wanted to either marry or fall in love. Well, we know that can't happen in their love story so we will follow them through many thrilling, scary, heartfelt moments and many dangerous challenges before they discover just exactly what their purpose is in life if supposed to be.
This story has very element in a very well written romance story I could possibly ask for. Many times, I was on the edge holding my breath, cringing with fear, or sighing with joy in my heart for the wonderful couple that deserved a very happy and rewarding ending.
This story has two great families coming together, a few healers and a seer a long with a tender caring romance. I could not ask for more.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest thoughts and opinion.

Brin e Ceit 🫶🏼

The Scot’s Vow by Keira Montclair
Highland Hunters Series Book Four
Brin Cameron is being pressured to marry. His father is getting older, and Brin will be chieftain of Clan Cameron one day…and he’d need heirs. He’d been in love once, but she threw him over for another. Brin wouldn’t allow another heartbreak in his life like that. Yet, he did enjoy his time with Ceit when the patrol was on Cameron land.
Ceit MacAdam never wants to leave Ramsay land. She has always aimed to be the best archer, as Grandmama Gwynie was. It seems like Ceit is losing her sight, so what would she do? Who was she if not an archer?
Another exciting story I couldn’t put down until the end. I enjoy all these stories that are connected to previous series. Seeing “old friends” from the other books.

This is Ceit's and Brin's story.

Ceit has aspirations of protecting her family's lands, and being the best archer. However, her sight is going dim. She questions if there is anything else is could do besides archery, but being she isn't blind yet she's not going to decide at this moment. She joins the patrol, only to get caught in a snow storm. Good thing Brin was there to help keep her warm...

After that night, questions of her honor come up which makes them both angry, but they ultimately get together. Not too much conflict and angst, both families were pressuring them to get married as it was. Brin, forty one, is taking over his role as Chieftain, and Ceit in her mid twenties, well her clock is ticking. So this wasn't a sweeping love story, but the family dynamics in these books have been very amusing. On to the next which is Maitland's story.

Brin and Ceit

This is a historic love story following a long time series. You can read this book without having read the others ,but I am sure you will then want to read more. This is a great adventure about two people thinking love is not in their cards. It tells of their points of view that leads them to their conclusion as they deal with great journeys and interact other characters from their circles, giving wonderful and humorous backstories. When reading this or any of this author’s books, you get invested with so many interesting characters and wish you were part of these families. This book discusses purpose of the two main characters and their families. It is a wonderful read that is heartwarming, it will really pull you into their lives! Enjoy!!

I'm so glad I stuck it out after the last two books in the series because this one felt closer to the Keira Montclair books I fell in love with! I love Brin and Ceit. Maybe it was the glimpse of them you got in the last book, the Scot's Protector, that I was already anticipating their story but this book didn't disappoint. The way they fell for each other was sweet, both MCs were so likeable, and dealing with their own issues but also coming together in a really sweet and supportive way. I wasn't expecting the age gap, and I don't think that's something that's come up often in these stories at least not this significant of a gap. I loved this, and honestly it might be one of the books that I go back and re read because it was light and enjoyable.

The Scots Vow Book 4 of the Highland Hunters

This was such a great book. I so like reading about the old family clans and their children who are now leading the clans. Ceit and Brin were a perfect match even though it took them time to realize it. So many of the clansmen, Logan, Gwyneth, Maitland, Conner and Sela and so many more was just awesome. What really hit me was when the families were sitting together after Ceit and Brin's wedding talking of their "Most important purpose" that was most certainly a memory never to forget. Then, Brin's very special present for Ceit and her Grandma brought this book to closure in a most memorable way. Yes there are battles and injuries and the HEA but story.......Woa, well worth the time it takes to read it!!!

Never too late.

Another good one. Ceit is a female archer in her clan Ramsay. But she aspires to be the best like her grandmother Gywneth. The problem is her eyesight is failing her and that causes her to be wounded during battle. Brin is the heir to clan Cameron but he needs some excitement so he joins the patrol. That puts him and Ceit together and there was already a blooming attraction between them. When they get caught alone behind an avalanche and have to spend the night alone in a cave, things escalate. So their journey begins. They must each determine what their purpose is, what is most important and if their growing love is worth fighting for. Great story with familiar characters and lots of action.

Great story!

Brin was forty-one and not married. He fell in love as a young man but was rejected by her. Since then he said to never love or marry. Ceit also said the same, to never marry. Brin had seen and talked to Ceit before. She was so beautiful and she was the most intelligent woman. She was also one of the best archers around. Her Grandmama was also know as one of the best. But the age difference was almost twenty years. Finally the day came and they were to go on a raid together. Due to an avalanche and the two being caught on one side by themselves, things changed. This is a very well written story, a must read.

Wonderful Romance

Ceit and Brin both had good reasons to never marry; this changed one snow bound night in a cave. Ceit was an archer and Brin was a warrior. They were fighting in patrols against English maraders.
I thoroughly love stories with the families in Keira's novels. Grant's, Ramsey's, Cameron's, Matheson's and more. The close family units is special and they married from clan to clan over time, all marrying for love.

Another strong female character, she wants to make her family proud and be the best archer there is, and she can't get married and leave her home to do that. Brian doesn't want to get married just because he's the future Chief. But he gets the chance of a life time, plus he gets to see Ceit again. Excellent read with danger, and some hard choices to make. HEA.

Wonderful

I could not put this book down. It was a joy to read. I love these take off stories of the original series that began it all. Still love to hear that so many of original characters are in the new generations. They feel like my family. I have read many of them many times. I hope the series just keep going, there are still so many to write about.

Another wonderful novel by Keira Montclair!

Ceit and Brin have vowed never to marry, but an avalanche forces them to seek shelter during a force snowstorm and they discover their passion for one another. Together they face English foes as they fight to protect their clans. Both learn that their destiny is entwined as they find their love for one another.

Another wonderful book in the series. I love Keira Montclair books more than anything! I love how she brings all the characters together, and in the very last part of the book when Logan speaks his true purpose… That part just blew me away and brought me to tears. This is such a wonderful book that is a must read.

Love the Scottish clans

Being of Scottish descent on my mother’s side, I loved learning about the clans from this book, not to mention that Inverness was mentioned which is where my mother’s family originated.
The story of women warriors was also interesting, since I never knew women fought or were allowed to fight.

A Scot’s Vow

Poorly written. Story line lacked substance and credibility. Far too many “sires” and Da’s to follow who belonged to who. Doubt I’ll bother to ever pick up another Keira Montclair book

This is an excillerating book with a lot of action, family love and the story of love. It's wonderful to see the might of the female force who are exceedingly expert at archery.
