A genre hopping journey of 10 short tales featuring vampires, pirates, alien invasion, psychological terror, the undead, thrills and twisted endings that you won’t see coming.
Trigger warning - Some graphic scenes of violence - including violence against children though this is in a dream - the murders of a family, sexual scenes and one scene of body mutilation.
I am an Edinburgh-born Scottish author. I started writing stories almost as soon as I learned to read and write and continued to do so all through my school years.
But at 40 years old now I have spent my life working in various settings, none of which fully allowed me to exercise my creative muscles. So now I am focusing my efforts into writing and other creative endeavours.
I usually write adult short horror and thrillers but I am starting to explore other genres such as fantasy and science fiction. And I have started branching out into screenplays having made several short (very low budget films).
I also started writing short adventure stories for my own children a number of years back but they have now outgrown them so I am now sharing these stories with you.
Aside from writing I am also a photographer and AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego) and you can view my work on Instagram @thelegographer2 and @sdlang.creative please go check it out.
This was a pretty good collection of short stories. They are very quick and some of them pack a punch. There are a few that are very serious, one dealing with the aftermath of bullies and one dealing with public transportation. It does break it up pretty nicely though, the story about the bullies are broken up into 3 parts and you have some humor in some of the other stories. This was a good mix and there is even a story that is about pirates that I enjoyed. I can not wait to read more from this author.
I really enjoyed the short tale format of this book as it meant I could read while on break at work without the frustration of leaving an unfinished chapter when it was time to return to the grind. The stories were easy to follow which again made them perfect for those short moments of spare time. I look forward to more of these tales as well as things in a longer format for times when I can fully settle in with a good book.
These were short stories. They were interesting to read but some I couldn’t get into to. I enjoyed Death of a Pizza Delivery Boy. It was funny. Consequences was a good read. It was about bullying. I enjoyed Escape but was a little confused at the end. Steak Dinner was a good one too! I wish some of the stories had more descriptions but overall good.
A series of short stories. I enjoyed few of them. Each story has a distint taste to it, from going from vampires to psychological horror. Death of a pizza delivery boy, was my favorite. Really loved that one.
Have received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
