Really enjoyed this sequel. I did feel a bit confused a couple times when there were just pictures showing what was going on. I wasn't quite sure until the characters would talk about it and clear it up for me. The story is fun though and I love Bea's growth and bravery in the midst of her anxiety. I'm very much looking forward to the third one.

Lo que más amo de estos libros, aparte d del guión y las ilustraciones, es la manera de ser de la protagonista. Sufre ataques de ansiedad y estan muy bien explicados. Porque no todos somos valientes, pero nos sobreponemos🥰🥹

Akcja trochę pędzi, ale dowiadujemy się jednocześnie też więcej o bohaterach i świecie, nadal jest uroczo , emocjonująco i ciepło. Zdecydowanie ta seria to jak takie dobre familijne kino dla wszystkich , ale też kryje w sobie trochę więcej głębi.

Absolutny majstersztyk komiksowy - od postaci przez swiatotworstwo po przepiękną kreskę - nic mnie w tych komiksach nie rozczarowuje. Wręcz zaskoczona jestem jak wiele wzbudzają we mnie emocji 🥹

Ale ja się supi przy tych komiksach bawiłam! Przypomniały mi, jaką fajną odskocznią są powieści graficzne od zwykłych książek, po które sięgam jednak najczęściej. A tu - historia, która da wszystko, czego można od niej oczekiwać.
I nawet nie wiecie jak bardzo się cieszyłam, że mam drugi tom, bo od razu po skończeniu pierwszego po niego sięgnęłam. Ale później od razu potrzebowałam trzeciego, więc oby wydali go jak najszybciej hahaha!
Mogliście już zobaczyć wczoraj na story, bo wrzucałam tych komiksów sporo, ale… TE GRAFIKI. Przecież ta kreska jest przepiękna. Tak idealnie dopracowana. I te kolory, takie żywe - od razu pomyślałam o zdjęciu w liściach 🍂
Uwielbiam ich świat, przygody - czułam się bardzo zaangażowana w akcję, tę grozę nadchodzącej ciemności na Irpę, bohaterów, ich odwagę! bo nie da się ich nie lubić! Nawet charakter kotki, która absolutnie nic nie mówi hahaha jest tu wykreowany lepiej niż w niejednej książce głównego bohatera, serio😂 I tu bardzo chcę pochwalić Beę - jej osoba to jest coś tak niesamowicie wartościowego w tej książce. Nie jest nieustraszona i niczego się nie boi. Musi zmierzyć się z ogromnymi wyzwaniami, które niejednokrotnie ją przerażają i powodują u niej lęki. I to jest w tym tak ludzkie. Prawdziwe. Aż miałam ochotę ją przytulić. I martwienie się o swojego dziadka, wartości rodziny, przyjaźni. I humor!

Maybe I like it a bit less than the first of this series, but I did enjoy it nonetheless. I love the imagination of this series and the beautiful art. The story seems somehow less solidly built in this one, going left and right at the same time, but we achieve a fun and entertaining journey. If you like the first one, this is worth continuing!

Shadow of the Bird is the 2nd and, so far, last book in the Lightfall series by Tim Probert. It follows the continuing adventures of young girl, Bea and her new friend, Cadwaller (Cad) the Galdurian. They are on a double mission; firstly, they are searching for Bea's adopted grandfather, the Pig Wizard, and, secondly, they hunt Kest Ke Belenus, the Bird, who is trying to destroy all of the Lights of Irpa.
As Kest destroys the towns of planet Irpa to steal and absorb the lights, Bea and Cad, along with kitty Nimm, are trying to find the Lorgon, a water spirit, to find out how to destroy Kest. At the same time, Grandpa is trying to help the Warden of Rinn save her citizens from Kest.
It's a fascinating adventure with nice little twists and turns as Bea and Cad find out more about the history of Irpa and also about why Kest is acting as it is. There are wonderful characters, Bea and Cad, first of all, but everyone else who takes part, down to the smallest of characters, like the Arsai and the little Rat. It's bright and dark at the same time, wonderful artwork and just an entertaining story.
Almost too much takes place, but that's no bad thing. Of course I do have a question of Mr. Probert. WHEN IS THE 3RD BOOK COMING OUT!!!! Egads! Enjoyable for both adults and young children (4.0 stars)

I was so pleased to see this when it arrived. A great book for the kids who've been so invested in graphics like Amulet. Nicely illustrated with a gripping story that moves briskly forward. Adventure, friendship and plenty of challenges for the characters. This one is the second in the series.
In this book there are lots and lots of different creatures working together and heading out on a quest to save their country. But they'll have to make decisions that have drastic consequences and if they make the wrong choice then disaster is certain.
Exciting stuff for kids of all ages.

Oh my goodness! This one was so good! The artwork was stunning. I loved seeing the growth of the characters. This graphic novel was super suspenseful and had some fantastic little twists. This book does such a great job covering some beautiful themes with such few words. I loved it. If you’re on the fence about graphic novels, I encourage you to try this series. It’s so heartwarming and full of adventure. I cannot wait for book 3!

Really needed a little review of what happened in book one to get back into this one. But book two picks up right where one left off and gets you back into the action. We see our "villain" and learn some shocking twists. It was an okay follow up and I think I would have liked it more if I had book three to finish out the series with... unless it's more than three books.
Overall, the series is good, but best to wait until they're all out to fully enjoy the whole story.

What a great sequel! I just love this world, and Bea, Cad and the gang. This is adventurous and fantastical, but still heartwarming and relatable, with great representations of anxiety, bravery, friendship and loyalty. When do we get book 3?!!

The illustrations were ✨LUSH✨. I literally couldn't stop staring at the full-page illustrations, and the colour schemes were honestly breath-taking 😮💨
The story was also pretty compelling, but I would've preferred a proper closure instead of another cliffhanger. Still good though, would highly recommend. Bea and Cad are amazing characters 🤌🏽😩

*2025 Reread - I enjoy seeing Bea’s character growth and empathy throughout the novel. I could use a little more of that from Cad. Nonetheless, I still enjoy this series!

Encore un gros coup de coeur pour ce roman graphique ❤️
Les dessins sont absolument dingues, je suis restée bouche bée face à certaines double pages qu'on se prend en pleine figure. Les planches sont renversantes et nous montre bien que l'auteur est issu de l'animation. Ça respire la fantasy épique.
C'est drôle, plein d'émotion, métaphorique à certain moment. Le bien contre le mal, la lumière contre l'obscurité. Mais est ce que tout doit être blanc ou noir ? Le mal est-il vraiment le mal ? Le bien vraiment le bien ?
Et comment ne pas mentionner l'amitié entre les 2 perso principaux ! J'ai adoré le développement de Béa et je suis toujours aussi fan de la représentation de son anxiété.
La suite promet d'être grandiose

Unfortunately I wasn't as swept away by this one as I was by the first, but the illustrations are still beautiful and I still really like the characters. I really like how the author portrayed Bea's anxiety in the illustrations. If you liked the first book I would read it, but the way I felt after the first book: "Oh no! Cliff-hanger! I must know what happens!" This book ends in another cliffhanger, but I don't feel that same urgency to wait for the next book, unfortunately.
