Stolen By The Beast

Rate this book
My only memory before him is a nightmare.
Hands pin me down as I’m encircled by a group of men. Their faces are a blur, but I know their intent. Squeezing my eyes shut, I know what’s to come, but it never does because of him.

My savior.

My protector.

My monster.

***

Humans are nothing but food until her.
It’s a delicacy that doesn’t often come my way, but tonight, the blaze of countless campfires dots the dark forest. Only a fool would pass up such a feast, but then I hear her cries of fear. She looks at me with such trust shining in her gaze.

Like I’m something special.

Like she cares for me.

Like I’m not a monster.

Juniper is tired of human men trying to take what they want. Karvik dislikes humans until he meets Juniper and saves her from terrible men one night. Juniper falls for her hero monster. Karvik is all fluff and sweet with that monster instinct still. This was such a fun sweet and spicy monster read. AND OMG THE LAUGHS. She pokes a bear in the butthole to get away. I'm dead this was such a fun read. Did I forget to mention that Karvik can customize his schlong? Because he can. Loving the Kinky Kryptids series so far and cannot wait for the next! Thank you for giving me an ARC copy and letting me devour this (pun intended) early!

I recieved this book as an ARC reader.
A very cute HEA and quick read.
Juniper, a human, and Karvick, an ancient forest being, come from wildly different backgrounds. They have quirky little conversations and there is humor sprinkled throughout. A nice complete plot and very brief, but, to the point character development.
This is a monster romance novel so of course there are spicy scenes. The authors put in just the right amount of spicy scenes and plot to make this a nice, little, well-put-together story.
Spicy scenes were hot without being overly described and were *chef's kiss* just right.

If a story grabs my attention I will devour an entire book cover to cover. I read this in one sitting and it took me very little time. Very enjoyable read!

*I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review*

I was excited for this book but it left me really disappointed and struggling to finish it.

I read up to 80% and I still didn't feel engaged by the characters or the storylines so I skimmed the rest of the book.

So many things were lacking (possible light spoilers):

- We don't really get to know the main characters. I have no idea who they are, what their motivations are and why I should care about them. Only in one of the final chapters they tell a bit more about their backgrounds which I would have loved to know MUCH earlier.

- I have no clue why these characters like or love each other. It seems they just run into each other and they're like 'ok I guess we're an item now'. I would be cool with instalove or something but I want FEEL it.

- The pacing is off, especially in the beginning. The story is very rushed in the first half of the book at least. The first scene that feels kinds reasonably paced is the one with the bear, but it contrasts so much with the earlier chapters that it makes them feel even more rushed.

- Lots of telling and not enough showing.

- Inconsistencies in the mmc's description. He's supposed to have no emotions or at least not like humans. Especially in the beginning, one chapter says he has no emotions, a following chapter clearly describes his emotions, and the next again says he has no emotions. Maybe not literally like this but you get the gist.

- I'm all for interesting equipment but the saroque present was really cringe to me. I understand it was meant to be cute but it made me very uncomfortable.

- There's some spice and the authors take their time describing it, but they don't really get across what's enjoyable about it. The first penetrative scene is from the mmc's perspective and the fmc keeps telling him to continue so I guess she likes it, but there are no descriptions that make me need to hydrate while reading (as the authors suggest at the end of the book).

- Much of the book it's unclear why we should read on, there's no overarching storyline that kept me interested. At 75% there's an ominous 'if only they know what would happen next' or something similar, which is not great creative writing.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this book unfortunately, and I'm not tempted to buy any other books from this series.

This was adorable, sweet, hot, and hilarious, all rolled into one. It was a fun and quick read. I loved Juniper's sass and Karvik's innocent but protective-ness.

There were several scenes that had me giggling. And many more where I was sighing at how cute the two of them were. It's definitely different that he could make his own peen for her! That part was unique. I'd love to see more books where the guy can customize their dicks.

I got this as an ARC and I honestly don’t remember signing up for it. I should have DNF when she referred to her boobs as “sweater puppies”. The dialogue just didn’t sound right to me, juniper spoke like a child and it grossed me out. It made no sense how she wasn’t scared of Karvik. There’s never any written description of what he really looks like we kind of have to go by the cover art.

ARC reader here! I loved this book. Considering the darker situations that happen early on (check your trigger warnings folks, gotta take care of yourselves) I was pleasantly surprised by the cuteness and of these characters relationship and how healthy their relationship actually is.
It’s not the kind of story that has the monster dragging the other character off into the woods and ravaging them against their will, if that’s what you’re looking for, this ain’t it. To me, it feels like a “We’re from completely different worlds, it can never work, but I want to try anyways” type of romance.
Wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting (about 3 scenes) but it had a good flow with the story, and wasn’t just smut for smut’s sake if you catch my drift (not that that would be a bad thing, sometimes you just want a book that’s 100% horny).
Overall I think M.J. & Sedona knocked out a monster romance that makes me feel cozy. 10 outta 10, would read again!

I received this book as an ARC read.

It was so good, I was actually sad for it to end.

Pros: I am a fan of fated mates, monster romance, breeding kink, and touch her and you die mentality, so this book ticked a lot of my boxes. Secondly, the MMC was so sweet, and caring, and willing to learn. I became attached to him so quickly, I didn't want anything to happen to him. Lastly, this book keeps you hooked! It is a shorter book and a pretty quick read, but it can take me forever to read a book, and I finished this in one sitting.

Cons: the FMC was a bit annoying. Overall she was ok, but there were a few times she would do or say something and I'd just have to roll my eyes. I like feisty FMC's, which she was, but she was also very immature. If you're going to curse, then just curse. But the biggest con for me is how quickly things happened with barely any explanation.

Some examples: even if you lost your memory, seeing a monster is still scary, fated mates or not. That was weird to me that she just immediately was like yeah ok I'll stay with you and love you with no hesitation lol.

Second, she was just attacked by a bear, even getting bit on the shoulder, he was attacked too. But instead of tending to their wounds and making sure everything is OK, it's smexy time lol.

Thirdly, he doesn't know what a smile, or cuddle, or jealousy is, but he knows what eating a girl out is........ what kind of stuff has he been watching in the woods lol.

And lastly, when the "cops" come for her, it gears up for this huge scary thing, just for one of the cops to shoot the others in the head like it was nothing........ ok.

Overall I really did love this book, it was so sweet and funny, and the sex scenes were very nice lol, but if I could give it a 4 & 1/2 I would, just for some small nitpicky things.

I have a serious problem with authors continuing to utilize that word when Native American and Indigenous cultures have said it’s very inappropriate and can bring forth the spirit. Fine if you absolutely have to use the myth do that but call it something else

Stolen By The Beast is a standalone in the Kinky Kryptids series. Love that name for the series, very much is my type of books. There are some darker things at the start of the book, so check the triggers but after that it’s like pure sunshine. This was a very fun read, it was sweet, spicy, fast read. Juniper is tried of men and after a traumatic run in she finds her self saved by an ancient beat Karvik who hates humans. This was a short book so there is not much to the characters, you get some growth this Karvik being like “ oh I have feelings”, but with a short book the characters don’t have time to grow and you are aware of that when you pick it up. That being said, I still enjoyed the characters. The plot was entertaining, it was lower drama which I did enjoy. Juniper is full of sass and Karvik is innocent but very protective of her. I thought it was very cool that he could customize his Saroque just for her, I would definitely read more books like that. When he was carving it for her, all I could picture was a nails on chalk board type thing and it made my body go “ oooo noooo”, I definitely understand the point of carving one with her in mind but would of been okay not to read about it. This was a spicy book, I really like the way they were wrote,
descriptive and very well done without being over done. There was a lot of things that I was also “ meh” about, I was confused as to what type of monster he was, he has a skull head, black fur & hooves? I do wish they were more descriptive on that end so we could get a better picture of him. This book was funny but some of it was cringy like when she used those made up words. This was very much an insta love trope, she lost her memory and then immediately fell in love with him, I’m still not sure how I feel about that but I didn’t hate it. Over all a cute monster romance book and I do want to read more of the series, I like monster romances with low drama.I did get this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

“What do you want, Juniper?”
“You, Karvik. I want you.”

Stolen by the Beast
is a light and entertaining read with low drama and a decent helping of smut. There’s little depth or character development, but this fits the bill if you are looking for an easy monster romance read.

The relationship between the MCs is very insta-lust/love, with the FMC suffering from amnesia and just knowing she is safe with the MMC, despite him being an unknown monster. That theme carries throughout.

Highlights include a fancy peen and a considerable size differential between the MCs.

Stolen by the Beast is a standalone novella in the Kinky Kryptids series and ends in a HEA.

⚠️ While a lighter read, some darker elements occur earlier in the book that may warrant viewing the TW ⚠️

Genre: Paranormal Monster Romance
Tropes/Features: inta-lust, monster MMC, human FMC, size difference, fancy peen, amnesia, hurt/comfort, mating, virginal MMC
Narrator: Dual 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: MF, fast burn, spicy (size difference and fancy peen)
Book Type/Ending: Standalone novella, HEA
TW/CW: Available in book (includes attempted SA, not by MC)

Stolen by the Beast is a cute, light read. It does have some humor and banter in it, which kept me entertained. I never knew what was going to come out of Juniper's mouth and laughed out loud at some of her comments.

This one was a quick read. I read most of it in one sitting. I do wish it was longer since I loved the characters so much, but I'm looking forward to more standalones in this series!

“You are a light in a world that has been dark for as long as I can remember. Listening to your voice helps keep the darkness at bay.”

What a sweet story between Juniper, a woman who knows some of the worst humanity has to offer, and Karvic, an ancient forest guardian who has seen humanity develop and destroy his kind and his home.

There were a few moments in this story where I was unable to suspend my disbelief, but I still loved this book. I appreciate the communication between these two, and how they develop together.

I was provided an ARC for my honest review.

I love a good monster book, and this looked similar to a different writer of another great series I loved…so had some reservations but decided to try anyway.

Almost everything was a mess. The FMC was so annoying I wanted to DNF just because of her. She would say things like ‘taco-blocko,’ ‘silly goose,’ or other weird out of place childish sayings…not one curse word. I’m reading about a grown woman, where there is SA, monster $müt, and you’re telling me SHE DOESN’T CURSE?! Nope. Not it.

Secondly, she got attacked by a f-ing bear! Literally read how it ripped her leg to shreds and shoulder torn by its mouth. Absolutely NO recognition in ANY part of the book of her needing to heal that…or I don’t know…DIE from those types of wounds??? What a gross oversight that it plagued my mind the whole entire book waiting for it to be mentioned. Nope. Though it did mention how raw her feet were by walking without shoes so that was tended for. 🙄😑

1.5/5 purely for me being a sucker of monster $müt, but even that wasn’t super great. Just…skip and read the famous monster series by the other author that this is a poor imitation of.

"A monster is something you choose to be"

This story is one that breaks down preconceived ideas of monster-human relationships. Our girl Juniper runs the world, and Karvik is just living in it. She shows him he is more than the monster he let himself believe he was all this time, teaches him about love and how to care for others. In turn, he protects her from the worst of humanity and treats her like a princess of the forest.

There are several triggers within this story, so please make sure you check the content warning before reading.

Now, where the story falls flat for me is in her memory loss, and how after she's reminded of her situation, she still appears very on board with shacking it up with a monster in the woods. It seems most points of conflict in the story were brushed through rather lightly, and Juniper stills seems to wear rose colored glasses through it all. For me personally, it becomes hard to connect with a story like this. It made it harder for me to trudge through the remainder of the story.

ARC Review
I am obsessed with this book! This is the kind of book I've been wishing for, a girl lost in the woods is saved by a huge monster and they stay in his forest world. It's very fast paced with no dull moments and I was hooked immediately! This story is just fantastic and the originality is amazing!

I really appreciate the fact that our monster Karvik is so introspective and his emotions and inner thoughts are really beautifully deep as he struggles to understand the new unfamiliar feelings the heroine, Juniper, brings out in him. But what I really applaud is the fact that even though he falls in love and is very tender with Juniper he never stops feeling like a monster, so many authors have monsters that get sort of watered down and too humanized when they fall in love, but Karvik always feels like he's an ancient, powerful, unpredictable and intimidating being, so I loved that! He also has one of the coolest and most romantic 'man bits' I've ever read about, I really want to gush over this incredible idea but I can't spoil something so epic! *squee!*

The book isn't as spicy as I expected but I didn't mind at all, the blooming relationship between the two is just so beautiful and sweet. He's very innocent and doesn't understand human facial expressions or terms or blushing, kissing, anything really so there's tons of adorable question and answer sessions as Juniper helps him understand her better. The spicy scenes are good though, made so much better for all the bonding prior.

The story has gorey elements but it's not written in a descriptive way thankfully, it's handled very tastefully.

This is definitely another of the best books I've read this year and I'm so excited about the next books in the series!

I want to preface this by saying I received this as an ARC for an honest review. I went into this story completely blind, I didn't know the plot or anything, I just knew it had a monster penis and holes to fill with that said.

I felt nothing for this book, it didn't fill me with joy, nor did it fill me with hatred. It was just a read to pass the time and it felt very juvenile. While I have nothing on fast-paced books (I prefer them even) the pacing in this story was just not great. I think the authors could have spread out the story a bit more.

The FMC was entirely too childish and trusting for someone who suffered trauma and then lost their memory. She fell flat at times

Memory Lost is my most hated trop so maybe I'm a bit biased in my opinion because a lot of authors can't pull it off too well and this was the case in this book.

It tried to be funny and quirky and it just came off as cringy. thinks like "taco-blocko " and "Arrogant wankpuffin" made me ask if this FMC was a 12-year-old girl. And the constant use of little one(not in a little /daddy setting) is very weird to me. MMC you know her name, please use it.

The one thing I enjoyed about this story was the MMC I found him endearing in an awkward way.

I think with a little more time this book could've been stellar. I did like the writing as it wasn't overly descriptive but not lack in description to the point where your mind has to work overtime to fill in the blanks

if you're looking for feisty yet shy FMC,size difference and a forward monster with a cool peen than this for you . Please read the trigger warnings before reading.Juniper is feisty but kind when she needs to be .The way she treats karvik is so sweet and the fact that she is not scared of him is the just cherry on top of the cake .karvik is so forward yet so innocent too .I loved that they immediately connected but at the same time wished it dragged out bit to see more of their relationship. My favorite parts are chapter 2 and 6 and 7.My favorite line has to be "Your kind repulses me but you don't . You're so fragile and yet so strong .You glow brighter than the sun and I want to bask in your light ." when he said that I might have squealed a bit not going to lie . The spice is too good along with his cool peen is too good not to read. This was such a sweet and cozy yet also funny read . Definitely recommended and hope there's more books .Thank you M.J Marstens for this arc

Don't let me get started on Karvik 😍 he was everything. Their banter was something else.
His ignorance toward everything related to humans and her trying to explain it to him, I was trying so hard not to laugh.
I loved how the authors didn't just mention her amnesia from the night when Karvik saved her and moved on. They followed up on it till she got her memories back. I've read some books where the h has amnesia, it was mentioned, but then the story moved on like it never happened, with no more mentions of 'I don't remember' 'I don't know how' ... this story wasn't like this. The story also portrayed how he doesn't really know anything about humans, their feelings, and their expressions. It really showed how he didn't have any interactions with humans before Juniper.

Really loved this story with Karvik's protectiveness, Juniper's stubbornness, the costumized peen, and the instant trust she had in him with no hesitation at all.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Monster romance is among one of my favorites, so when the opportunity came to read Stolen by the Beast, I had to request it. I will say, this is my first of this type of monster, a quite literal Bone Daddy, if you will.

The book is relatively short. It is a fated mates paranormal romance. Minimal spice until towards the end when Karvik allowed himself to believe Juniper was his mate. No third act break up, but definitely third act trial on the relationship. Book ends in a HEA.

Juniper and Karvik have a definite barrier in their relationship since she is human and he is not. His kind has been around for thousands of years, and he is apparently the last of his kind. His confusion at human mannerisms are entertaining and Juniper is very patient with teaching him but also a little juvenile. I can't really remember what age she is. Her amnesia made her very childlike, but this book is not anywhere close to DDlg.

I rated the book 4 stars because I had a difficult time connecting. Again, it was all good, but something felt missing for me. It may be because I had a hard time envisioning the story with being new to the Bone Daddy variety or maybe I just couldn't connect to Juniper. I think others will enjoy it very much though.

Stolen By The Beast had an interesting premise. A woman who has been brutalized by men is rescued by literally a monster, and there she finds safety. At least marginally so. As the beast points out, the forest is no place for a human. And Juniper gets attacked several times further into the book, too. So this book is pretty dark and definitely earns its trigger warning for attempted sexual assault.

I enjoyed Karvik as a character and he had believable strangeness and lack of familiarity with humans, at first. I didn’t understand why he spoke English, if it was just from watching humans from afar. But he soon spoke and seemed to think pretty modernly, which broke the ancient, isolated creature feel for me. And Juniper felt like the frail tiny woman Karvik saw her as. But the memory loss was so inconsistent it also threw me off and she spoke pretty childishly at times.

I should have known when the fmc saw the mmc's dick for the first time and said "holy guacamole!" That this book was not for me.

Characters are bad, and there's nothing likeable about either of them. She loses some of her memories (unclear on how many?) And suddenly she's not scared of the monster and they both immediately decide they wanna be together.

The whole bone dick thing is really cringey and the sex scenes felt rushed. It always makes me laugh when the fmc's barely get touched and they're gushing like a fountain.

The scene with the police felt rushed and thrown in last minute and it made me laugh every time one of them was like "hey lady!" Like they wouldn't know her name but knew she was the one missing.

Should have DNFd it but it was less than 200 pages so I cringed my way through it.

I received this book as an ARC.

This story was good. I didn't really feel a connection to the FMC, but I think that's partly because of the memory loss trope employed. There were some slight inconsistencies from the start that kind of took me out of the story, chiefly: How the FMC lost her memories in the first place & her care/recovery after a major event in the story. It all felt a bit disjointed at times.

I did like the MMC, I felt like I got to know him a bit better but there was just a vast amount I did not understand about who/what he is and others of his kind.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this world expanded. I'm interested to know if they'll continue the series with being of the same species or if it'll jump around to other kryptids.

My oh my!!

When the love is so strong that not even your basic instincts get in the way.

This has got to be the worst night for Juniper! She decides that the feeling she has for Karvik is something that needs to be explored. Karvik is just as confused by his feelings toward juniper but he knows there is a reason he doesn't want to eat her... well not in that way at least!!

SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh this story was beautiful! I loved it so so much it was delightful to read and watch the love between them blossom. I was so glad she didn't turn her back on him or create drama when she regained her memories.

Overall it was a beautifully written story that was so charming and I absolutely loved reading it.

The was a quick and easy read and the main characters had a few issues but over all I enjoyed this book Juniper is a human thats being attacked and held down by a group of men with ill intent on there minds and so closing her eyes she waits for it but it never comes because she is saved by a monster looking man. Karvik is a Kryptid male and the last of his species and while out hunting he comes across some humans who to him are food but when a females screams he races in to save her and when there eyes lock she is pleading for his help and he does. He thinks he is a monster but she see’s a protector and a man who just needs love and understanding. There is so much more to this book that has you scratching your head with a few inconsistencies but was still an enjoyable book.

Was lucky to receive an ARC of this book. It was a cute quick read. Story of the human woman Juniper and the monster Karvik who meet in the woods one night. Minor spoiler for trigger warning, there is a scene near the beginning that has attempted sexual assault against the FMC (not by MMC). If this is a trigger for you proceed with caution. Overall this story is filled with witty banter and funny situations. Juniper seemed very immature and the amnesia storyline was kind of weird…she couldn’t remember her name or anything in her life but then from in her POV she would reference something with no context of how she knew it which was annoying at times. Karvik trying to understand humans always made me chuckle. He would get so confused by Juniper’s human ways and sayings.

Stolen, more like claimed!

This is a quick and easy read that you will devour if you like monster smut. With Sedona and M.J you get a great story filled with laughable moments, tender moments, and steamy 🔥 🌶 moments.
The fmc deals with some heavy concepts at thr beginning of the book, so if you have triggers, please be mindful and either skip over that part or look to see if you can handle the book.
There isn't a language barrier, but one that must be worked on because of the emotions and terminology. Not to worry, you do get to experience his monstrous sides in more than one way.

Who needs a human man when you can have a Karvik?

I loved this from the beginning to the end

One of the few books the FMC doesn’t annoy me. I liked how quirky and stubborn she is and all her fun little sayings. Her stabbing the bear in the butthole was one of my favorite parts

Karvik is perfect. He literally cut off his penis and customized it for her. He’s protective and sweet and murdery. What more could you ask for in a monster mate? I thought him making the house out of junipers away absolutely adorable.

Monster smut just hits differently, especially when they got a skull for a face

Have you ever wanted to run away and just hide in the woods for the rest of forever to forget about the real world? Marstens runs with this idea and throws in the perfect fantasy man. Well, man adjacent creature... Stolen by the Beast is a surprisingly deep analysis of what makes a man and what makes a monster wrapped up in a steamy, spicy monster romance.

This was a well-paced romance that as much as it was a fantasy, was very realistic in progression. The "monster" himself was a sweet cinnamon roll willing to try anything the FMC cooks but with animalistic urges, including intense touch-her-and-die vibes. But don't worry! There's a very happily ever after ending.
