In her newly confirmed status as Queen of Lightwave Clutch, Saree plans to train new human clock maintainers to carry on the work she started: tuning fold clocks and smoothing space. But the skills that came so naturally to her prove difficult to transfer, and progress is slow.

When a shady faction in Gov Human decides to take matters into their own hands, Saree and Lightwave must run for their lives—and the lives of their future children.

Dependable allies refuse to assist them. Neutral parties become adversaries. And every fold seems to drop them into a hotter system with new enemies and more conspiracies. Saree and the crew are running out of time and places to hide.

Sometimes the best defense is attack. Do they dare take the fight to their enemies? And if they do, can they possibly survive?

Being able to fold space and adjusting fold clocks, made Saree famous. As with Q.
Is it small wonder then Gov Human would like to control them in order to "free" humanity? Except Time Guild is enforcing agreements made with Gov Human as Saree is a member of Time Guild.
That then is fine, not so?.
No. Not when a maverick self centred mefic, Doc Holliday, succeeded in pursuading Gov Human to obtain Saree's eggs for some experimentation.
Yuck.
Yet, somehow, Hoolliday is determined to do so with apparent cooperation of Gov Human.
And pursuit of the Lightwave once again became a nightmare. In fact, for a number of reasons, some very lethal indeed.
Author A.M. Scott once again had me gasping for breath as this very unique and immersive universe is expanded even further and wider in some strange directions as well.
I am keenly looking forward now to Time Guild Guild 2.

I got an ARC to read before everyone else, but before I could write a review, a whole bunch of "life happens" stuff got dumped on my family, so I read it again to make sure I was reviewing the right book without a bunch of other stuff getting mixed in. It is a great book, even in the second reading, only a month after the first. Although I must say I did dread one spot because I knew the twist there and what would happen next. So I powered through the 5 or 10 pages and got right back in the reading groove.

While this book is "first" in a series, I think you should probably read some of the others, like the Folding Space series first, they are all excellent and will give you a lot of how things got to this point for these characters. It might be ok as a stand alone book, but since I have read all the others first, I don't feel like I can say that and actually mean it.

So finally off to to good stuff. Saree and crew are harassed by groups that claim otherwise or should know better, they run into a few new problems and surprises. At the end the threads mostly wrapped up well, but there is plenty of opportunity for follow-up in others. In fact I'm looking forward to the next one to see where some of these threads lead. I won't say too much more because I don't want to accidentally put spoilers here, if you read the other series, you know pretty much what to expect, and I told you where I think you might want to start if you just heard about this author or the universe the book is set in.

To fully appreciate TIME GUILD, I recommend reading the Lightwave series first. You’ll love it!
This book is intense. There’s non-stop action with literally constant life and death level threats. I prefer a bit of breathing space between crises and lots of feel good character interactions. There are also a number of pages of mechanical and technical descriptions of folder repairs for readers who are interested in such things.
The crew is absolutely wonderful; each person is uniquely interesting, brilliant, and charismatic.
