Fire and Ice #8

His Dragon Princess

Rate this book
Veronica
My whole world crumbles when the sorcerer Anthony reveals to me that Iain is my Fated Mate. Having been raised as cousins, we are familiar and not in a good way! All my life he has belittled me, annoyed me, and ignored me. He’s exerted his authority over me at my expense and has never shown an ounce of regret for it.
I don’t know whether Anthony speaks the truth—my heart wants to believe his words are lies—but I refuse to remain and find out. And so, I flee to the mortal realm, where Iain is no longer my problem! Or at least, I thought so.

Iain
Enjoying the freedoms of my station, I take to the wing, enjoying a flight with my liege, King Damon. Together, we discover an old wreck we’re keen to investigate. But the joke’s on us when our joy ride quickly succumbs to disaster.
The ancient house collapses around us, trapping us both within the ruins and debris of ages past. It’s going to take a miracle for help to find us, and the king is gravely injured. Time is running out. I can only hope that the woman I’ve tormented and scorned all my life will put her pain aside to become our savior…

If you love your romance filled with passion, fury, and longing, you’ll fall head over heels for Iain and Veronica as they set the whole world on fire in their quest to discover the truth.

Veronica and Iain’s book

Spoilers? Spoilers.

I was happy and a little impressed with the book by the time we got just past the halfway mark and the couple seemed good. Maybe a few more chats to get a few things across but they seemed to be good.

So I’m thinking, and that was my first mistake, that to fill the rest of the book we would have them, as a couple, trying to overcome something.

Then I was broadsided by Iain saying that Veronica hated him. Huh? I didn’t think that it has been 12 hours since they crawled into bed together saying that they both wanted to be there.

Then the author seems to have combined two things together to make him disregard what just happened and put his life in danger. Again. I got it later, but when it was starting out, I thought that the author had pushed reset on what was just established between those two. I was prepared to be very angry at her for not being able to just have a couple set up and fight against something outside of themselves. Even when she did have outside conflict, the couples weren’t as solid outside of maybe the first and second book.

Now, I’m just feeling that it could have been written a little better so it’s clearer that something was wrong with him instead of thinking that the author was not able to let go of their conflict.

Now I have an issue with this cave. Its existence I’m fine with. It’s the fact that Veronica said that this was her dad’s place and that he brought her mom, Cass, here. One, the place in the third book that was her dad’s place, that he took Cass to was not this cave with magic water. It was a sheltered field/valley of flowers with a small brook.

Was that just redconed??? I was surprised enough that they had to travel by coach to this place when the words “hot spring” was mentioned. There is supposed to be one on castle grounds. At the heart of the maze. Which Iain didn’t even seem to know about since he laughed at the idea of there being a hot spring in their lands at all. You would think the boys or the girls would hang out there when visiting all through their years growing up.

So after we have moved past those bits and the shocking event that kicked them off, I’m back to enjoying the story again. It felt good to read a fresh story again.

Anyway, we pulled off a wedding in a day. I liked that it wasn’t drawn out. I also got the feeling that this was meant to be the last book of the set, and the author said so herself at the end of the book. But she also admitted to starting another one.

I don’t know if she should have or could have changed anything with knowing that the set was going to continue.

Hopefully I haven’t spoiled too much for you. I didn’t read the description of the book so I don’t know how much was or wasn’t given away there.

My feelings aside for that quirk need the center of the story, I enjoyed the story. This is a solid recommendation.

Very Good Story!!

I enjoyed this one too. It was an emotional one. Veronica and Iain gave life to each other really. Her saving him and him changing her attitude about so many things. And learning forgiveness. On to the last one. Book #9 Carlak’s story. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊
