The Sun in Me is a book of a series poems that are about the planet by various authors. The illustrations are phenomenal and they really set the scene for the viewer. These illustrations aid the text, for those who are a lower ability read. Children could use the illustrations as a stimulus to form their own poems. The poems are quite short and pacy. I think this book will bring great discussion to children about different cultures and planets.

The Sun in Me is a book of poems that are all about the nature that exists on our planet. The poems are all about the qualities of nature that make our planet beautiful like birds, trees, flowers and fish. Each poem is a celebration of nature and encourages readers to respect and conserve the wilderness. A lot of the poems suggest that we should just leave nature as it is instead of picking at it or damaging it.

I would use this book in my classroom to encourage my students to appreciate the beauty of nature around us. I would ask them to think about all the things that make our world beautiful before I read the poems aloud to them. I would also explain to them that although nature is pretty, we should refrain from hurting it (by picking flowers or pulling out grass) and let it be so that everyone could enjoy its beauty

The Sun in Me: Poems about the Planets is a book that incorporates many different poems about different parts of the earth. This book had many different types of poems throughout which introduces the reader to the different types of poems that they can write. The illustrations that corresponded with each poem were beautifully done by Beth Krommes. She used the scratchboard technique to create the illustrations. Each illustration was loaded with color and detail which allowed readers to visualize the aspects that each poem was talking about. This book would be great to use in a classroom to teach a poetry unit. The students could be asked to create their own poems similar to those throughout the book. It could also be used in a science unit as a way to reinforce what the students have been learning in class. By using the science concepts in poems, it makes the topics a little more easy and fun for students.

Once again Beth Krommes uses her famous style of scratchboard illustrations to highlight different interesting facts about earth. This follows the use of nature once again. Every picture in the story is very detailed which makes it fun for the readers to look at. Another cool thing that this story has is poetry. This poetry revolves around aspects of the earth. Beth Krommes uses illustrations that match up with her poems. This would be a good book to use in the classroom because it can introduce poetry to the students. The teacher could go over the different types of poetry and as a together the class could identify which poem each of the pages falls under. This would be a good book to include in the classroom along with the rest of the books that Beth Krommes has illustrated. I enjoyed reading this book and would like to read it to my future students.

A beautiful book with some very nice poetry about nature, but with amazing illustrations. The colors are very vibrant, and I love the endpapers. One of the most beautiful books I have seen in a while.
