Best Year Ever

I can't fall in love with my doctor. What is the matter with me?

That's a question with way too much answer. It's not like I'm sickly. Just worried about illness. And accident. And random disease. And yeah, if I'm harboring a crush on my doctor, that makes it weird.

Almost as weird as coming back to the campus where I attended high school so I can work in a field I didn't study. Not that I got very far in college. My whole university experience was over after the first year. I went to get a degree in music, and then I quit. College and the violin, both. Who knew it was so easy to walk away from something I once loved? I just wasn't feeling it.

But I'm feeling something now. A whole lot of something for a man who is not only my healthcare provider but also way too old for me.

And then there's the invitation to accompany Broadway's most impressive singer in years. But I don't do that anymore. Even if I wanted to. (Do I want to?)

I've got to figure out what I want. Who I'm going to be. And do it all before this silly crush turns into something I can't ignore--or before I lose all my chances to choose.

This book was pretty good. It didn't rank at the top of the series for me, but it was still enjoyable. I felt the anxiety-ridden musician was relatable as I myself am an anxiety-ridden musician. 😄 I like a good sweet romcom, but I felt like the romance in this was a little on the cheesy side.

We got a little peek at Sage Whitney in Much Ado About Love because she works with Desi in the library at Chamberlain Academy. I loved finding out more about her and how she ended up back at Chamberlain Academy after graduating and going off to an elite college to study music. Dr. Grayson Mercer is the very handsome and compassionate doctor at Chamberlain Academy that finds himself in an unusual position--he's attracted to one of his patients.

I love this series but I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this book. A doctor and someone who might be a hypochondriac fall for each other? Plus there's an age gap. I shouldn't have worried, Becca Wilhite pulled it off and I didn't even think about the age gap while reading this book. I loved how Grayson allayed Sage's unfounded health concerns while still being compassionate. I also loved how Sage and Grayson really wanted to spend time together and fit it in whenever their schedules would allow--even if it was just a movie at his apartment above the clinic.

This isn't a slow-burn romance but I thought that first kiss was never going to happen with all the interruptions due to Grayson being on call 24/7. But when it finally happened--so swoony. An added bonus was seeing Wanda Chamberlain again--she really is like a bonus grandma.

I received a complimentary copy but bought an e-book for my personal library. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own.

It’s 1:30 in the morning. I’m still awake because I couldn’t put down this charming love story. I’m still smiling here thinking about the swoony kissing scenes and the fast paced love story.

This was my first Chamberlain Academy book and I’m so excited to go back and read the others. With a handsome doctor, a talented musician and lovely side characters this book was hard to put down.

This is not a slow burn romance, it’s quick to the point and delightful. I love when both characters know what they want in their relationship and don’t beat around the bush.

I received an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

So cute!!

I always love a visit to Chamberlain Academy and this book happily took me right back!!

Sage and Grayson were so cute! She’s a hypochondriac, he’s the doctor always calling her fears. She’s a fairly recent high school graduate, he’s a practicing doctor. But together they make the cutest couple!

I don't normally seek out an age gap romance, but this one was so well done I can't resist singing its praises. Its doctor meets anxious musician and former student. It was awesome to read about non-crippling anxiety from the point of view of a female main character, and to see how confidence from a relationship allowed her to love music again.

The romance was so sweet and I loved how Grayson looked for every excuse he could to spend time with Sage.

"Can I confess something?' I ask.
'Of course,' she says, swinging our hands between us. 'I'm in favor of confessions.'
'I really like holding your hand,' I say."

Overall, it was a 5 star read for me! Thank you to the author for the advance copy of this book. A positive review was not required.

Lovely romantic comedy

This was a delightful rom com with two characters that obviously (to the reader) were meant for each other from the start. Supporting characters were great as well (except for the silly high school boyfriend).

The story was told from the POV of the two main protagonists, Sage and Greyson. Sage had been a prodigy violinist who had a crisis of confidence during her first year of college and returned "home" to the safety of Chamberlain Academy, a prep boarding high school in Vermont, and a job as assistant librarian at the school. Greyson, or Dr. Mercer, is the campus doctor. Along with her crisis regarding her violin that she hasn't touched for 3 years, she has developed a multitude of hypochondriacal ailments that take her the clinic at a minimum of once a month where the good doctor takes her seriously but reassures her that nothing is wrong. The two are 10 years apart in age, and given their doctor-patient relationship, normally would not entertain thoughts of a romantic involvement. But surprise!

I became quite invested in Sage and Greyson's romance, and I would say it made sense given the isolation of the Academy and the dearth of available dating partners. I am not your usual rom com reader, but taking a break from my usual mystery fare with a sweet romance is good for my soul!

I believe this book is part of a series dealing with the Academy, and I aim to seek out the other books for future respite.

I really do love these Chamberlain Academy books! They’re super cute, easy to read, and leave you satisfied. And I really appreciate the lack of unnecessary relationship drama, which was totally the case for this book!

Grayson and Sage have a long standing relationship… of the medical variety 😂. Grayson being the campus doctor and Sage being a regular to the clinic. I loved how this story started right off the bat with Grayson figuring out how he feels about Sage and acting on it. I also really enjoyed the age gap factor in the story and how it wasn’t made to be a huge deal or deal breaker at any point. These two worked really well together and made such a cute couple!

Best Year Ever is another great addition to the series!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was an absolutely charming rom-com in the universe of the Chamberlain Academy. It's not at all necessary to read the author's other books that take place here, but it sure is fun to catch the references (and besides, you really do want to read all her other books). This rom-com captures the relatable feelings we all have with our own moments of paranoia and takes them to a humorous extreme in the main character, Sage. Then it combines familiar feelings of uncertainty about the future with a kind, handsome, almost-too-good-to-be-true love interest, and you end up with an engaging plot that leaves you grinning the entire time.

A Correct Diagnosis

So, Sage is a regular patient with Dr Mercer. She's constantly concerned about what medical condition she might have fallen ill with, as well as the crush she's had on the academy's doctor since she was a student here. Grayson Mercer has always been kind and understanding in his treatment of Sage Whitney, but something has changed in the way he views her. This excellent story deals with huge life decisions and changes, anxiety, and romance between different ages. Once again, this author handles everything graciously, honestly, and with humor. Another excellent Chamberlain Academy romantic comedy.

I felt really relatable to Sage because I have anxiety as well and it can be tiresome sometimes. My only issue with this book is that they constantly brought up the age difference. We don't need it over and over again after the first time, but other then that it was great!

best year ever

A refreshingly sweet novel. Sage is a dramatic but lovely young lady who is paired with an older but dashing school doctor. He falls in love with her but medical emergencies kinda get in the way followed by an erie lightening n thunderstorm. Loved this book.

Sweet and Fun

I enjoyed this sweet romance and another chance to visit Chamberlain Academy. I really enjoyed seeing Grayson's sweet caring about Sage's hypochondriac symptoms and not treating her as less. I enjoyed seeing her find joy in places she had lost.

Very cute

Very cute love story. I really like Dr. Mercer. Sage is likable even with her tendency to worry a lot! I would read more stories in this setting.
Clean, contemporary romance.

"Best Year Ever" is a sweet, fun, and original story written by Becca Wilhite! The small community/campus setting was interesting to read about. I loved meeting and getting to know Sage and Grayson! Such fun, original, and three-dimensional characters. The author has done great work creating characters with personalities, thoughts, emotions, and personal difficulties of their own. The character development was great! I loved seeing Sage overcome her fears and following her own path. The author's descriptions and expression of Sage's connection to the violin are beautiful. The speed of plot is just right, the author's writing style is smooth and sparkling with wit and humor, and the romance is sweet and swoony. I really enjoyed reading "Best Year Ever" and I very highly recommend it! Thank you very much to the author for the wonderful opportunity of being on her ARC Team and for sending me a digital copy to read and review honestly.

I love the Chamberlain Academy series by Becca Wilhite. Each and every one of the books are so well written. They're full of comedy, and great characters. I love the way Wanda Chamberlain makes an appearance in them all. She's one of my favorite things about Chamberlain Academy!

This one features Grayson and Sage. I loved Grayson. He's the doctor at the Chamberlain Academy Clinic. I loved how seriously he takes caring for the students of Chamberlain Academy. He's always on call and drops everything when he's needed by one of them. Especially Sage.

Sage is a complicated character. She's a former student. And she's had a hard time. Sage has lost her way a little bit. She had gone to college for a year in music. But playing her violin lost it's shine. And Sage gave it up. I loved watching her grow in this book. I also loved watching her fall in love with Grayson.

This book has such a great love story! I can't wait for more Chamberlain Academy books!
