A Light to Escape her Mourning

Rate this book
At twenty-four, Mattie Carter has already known love and loss, grieving for a husband taken too soon in the line of duty. Facing the bitterness of her mother-in-law and the haunting emptiness of her home, she seeks a fresh start in a new town. But when her new beginning is marked by a robbery, it's the town sheriff, Levi Callahan, who comes to her rescue.

Could she dare to love again, knowing the peril of loss?

Levi Callahan grew up believing in the righteousness of the law, a belief solidified by the loss of his father during a risky operation. Jaded and cautious, he's reluctant to let anyone close—until he meets Mattie, a beautiful stranger whose courage strikes a chord in him. However, as they explore the spark between them, Levi can't shake off his past, or the lingering suspicion that the danger to the town—and to Mattie—is far from over.

Will he be able to protect what he's starting to hold dear?

Thrust together by fate and encroaching danger, Mattie and Levi find themselves ensnared in a rising tide of criminal activity orchestrated by a vengeful villain. The ties of friendship and romance weave together as they delve into the mysteries that threaten to consume them. With each revelation, their fledgling love is tested—will it be a cornerstone on which they can build a future, or the crux that unravels them both?

"A Light to Escape her Mourning" is a historical western romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

🐎🐎ONE THRILLING ADVENTURE🐎🐎
Sizzling saddles Sam! Aurora weaves this beautifully compelling, tantalizingly ground breaking, rock-my-world rollercoaster, tugging those heartstrings and bringing every emotion into play front and center, blasting this baby to new heights. Heinous atrocities and brutal tactics are sidestepped, employing brilliant strategy, perceptive calculations and expert deductions as riveting drama, gripping intrigue, underlying threats, spiraling danger, electrifying suspense and intense situations ensue. Observing the perilous struggles and formidable triumphs. Soft touches and slow steps in motion while attentive to the deadly twists and wicked turns unfolding. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story, feeling everything the characters feel. Exceptional job Aurora, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

Mattie Carter is sad, after her deputy husband has been killed by a criminal. His mother lives with Mattie now, and this awful woman could easily play the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz! Mattie can stand it no longer, so she flees West, to start over, securing a job as a seamstress. Levi Callahan is a deputy sheriff in the town of Welcome Springs, Texas. Levi has lost his father, who was the sheriff. That's right, the same town Mattie has taken the seamstress job. They meet and there is an immediate attraction. As they get to know each other and become closer, they are even more drawn together. This book is excellent, and kept me reading, not wanting to put it down. These two have both lost loved ones to bandits. And the hits keep on coming. Are they after Levi, or Mattie? A phrase keeps coming up, "the sins of the father...", as they try to unravel what is happening. Lots of action, drama, pain from the past, but also lots of love and caring, in a town that treat each other as family.

Great Story

I really enjoyed reading this story. When Maddie moved to a new town to get away from her late husband's mother she never expected to make any friends or that she would meet someone really special. Levi never expected to find that special woman who would become his wife but when he meets Maddie for the first time that changes. This really is a wonderful story and I enjoyed reading it very much. Everything that they went through was worth it in the end as this was a really good book.

Great Read

A well written story with great characters that stayed within the plot. Maddie and Levi met in an unusual fashion the first time. She had just arrived in town for a new job and was a widow. She was knocked didn’t by a thief who held a knife at her throat while Levi the Deputy Sheriff came to her rescue again and again. Needless to say they brought the drama, the action and the love to the story. A great Read if you like action and romance.

Lots going on

A very adventuresome young woman moved to a new town. There she met a young deputy and fell in love. But the romance was not without mayhem: not once but two or three times she was in danger. Love conquers all.

Maddie is a young widow who moves to a new town to escape a domineering hateful mother in law.
