I came across this author/illustrator when I read the women illustrator book last month. I fell in love with her and when I found this book on Thriftbooks, I snatched it up and I am so glad I did.
What is it about classic children fairy books?
They just hit differently. They dig out that little bit of you buried under bills and work and responsibilities, the bit that believed in fairies, that talked to imaginary friends. The bit that still had wonder. They dig it all out and you get to believe again, for just a little while.
I do wish that she had illustrated more of the book. I would have loved to see Blossom's cottage, and the witches. But over-all, this was a delightful and precious read.
I will be on the lookout for more of her fairy books!
