Yoshino's at the end of her rope with her fiancé Kirishima, whose secretive actions during their trip back to her hometown of Osaka has come to bad ends. A group of yakuza with the backing of a trust fund baby with his own goals have come to Osaka to take their revenge, and Yoshino's not about to let them. She only has her wits to protect her, but no one can beat her on her own home turf. Meanwhile, the two most dangerous teenagers in the city, Shouma and Kirishima, are destroying everything in their path to clear her way. When all the dust has settled, to the victor goes the spoils. If Kirishima wins, Yoshino has agreed to finally formally start dating him!
At first I wasn't sure if I liked that this volume was more action-focused, but then Yoshino and Kirishima were the freaky power couple of all time and all was forgotten.
An unstoppable force (hot tattooed men) meets a movable object (my lack of willpower and inability to keep myself from being seduced by hot tattooed men) and disaster occurs.
“Oh, please you’re absolutely clueless. He’s a freak. He’d enjoy every second of it.”
“I dare you to try and wreck our lives. We’ll wreck you for real.”
“I know I adore you. But occasionally I get the urge to completely ruin you.”
I’ve been so starved for a female lead like Yoshino. A goddess. A menace. A girlboss who crashes her bicycle into a fight and finishes it with a taser?? That’s not just iconic—that’s legend behavior.
This entire volume was just straight peak fiction. First of all—Suou Azami biting Kirishima’s arm in the middle of a full-on brawl?? I genuinely laughed out loud. Like yes, chaos. Give me unhinged teeth-on-forearm energy every time.
Kirishima and Yoshino pulling up on Ozu?? THE power couple. The tension, the entrance, the hand placement. I was screaming. That moment was everything. The way they move in sync while still being completely off-kilter is so them and so addicting to watch.
And THEN—Kirshima solo-ing a mob of hooligans like it’s light work, Shouma and Yoshino also throwing hands, proving they’re not just standing around waiting to be saved?? Cinema. But the part that fully sent me was when they decide the final challenge with rock paper scissors—and when Yoshino loses she really went, “Best out of three??” AND THEN THEY’RE JUST OFFICIALLY DATING AFTER THAT??? Unhinged. Unserious. Perfect.
Also, I have to say… I love both Kirishima and Shouma, but Granddad kinda won this round. The moment he clocked the disguise? Badass. I knew he had that quiet sharpness. No makeup could hide the fact that his precious Yoshino got hit in the face. Grandpa really said: "I may be old, but I’m not blind."
And the twist at the end?? Kirishima getting beat too? Of course. Of course the yakuza boss pulled a reverse card. That’s the game. And I love that the manga doesn't shy away from that—no one's untouchable, not even your favourite psychotic love interest.
All in all, this volume had everything: action, tension, chaotic romance, comedy, betrayal, and character development all wrapped in one. Peak. Yakuza. Drama.
2022-01-22: Just read Chapter 25 (25.2) Complicated relationships as usual. Nowhere near to know what Kirishima's real intent is now that he has become Yoshino's boyfriend...But I enjoy their bickerings! Update 17/11-13: Apparently Chapter 25 belongs to volume 6 so I will close this book and continue the review there.
2020-12-22: Just read Chapter 20 (20.1)
So Kirishima know that mysterious guy named Azami (?). What kind of history do they have and why is he interested in Yoshino? Btw, badass Yoshino strikes again on the last chapter. These are too short! I want more!
-------------- 2020-10-24: Just read Chapter 19 (19.1)
Who is that mysterious guy with the mask and the tattoos?
This author is what a true originality is. She makes such twisted worlds that are not overly graphic but your don't need it to be graphic to see what is happening. She makes you interested in such strange characters, strange plot, and everything. When you look at these characters you can't think about them being perfect and stuff, because they are all sick to the bone. But that's their world, twisted and strange and it all works. Why does it work? Because this author is not using her work to be political. She is writing a strange and interesting story that pulls you in.
I honestly don't know what to make of the characters anymore. If the story was updated faster I think we would be able to see the considerable character growth that Kirishima is starting to show now but unfortunately with the slow updates, I have to keep going back to reread and by the time I come back, I keep forgetting the rest. The story seems to be going in circle now and despite the art being pretty, I am growing slightly sick of it. I really don't know if I want Yoshino to end up with Kirishima or not. I just hope we'll at least get updates faster or come to a proper conclusion.
Fighting sequences? Fire👏 The beat up visuals of Kirishima and Shouma? Hot🤭 Yoshino being the baddest to ever do it? Of course🙂↕️ They’re both psycho and I love them together for it🤞🥹 I do need to know wtf Renji and Kirishima are hiding though😗
Bumping this by (half) a star because I think I can finally see the appeal of both couples. Something very sweet about Yoshino and Shouma but the "I know I adore you. But occasionally, I get the urge to completely ruin you." is some top-notch understanding of the genre that scratches the part of my brain that is still 17 years old, you know?
¡Me encantó!
My favorite cover so far. Kudos to the author/artist for this powerful visual. Of course, the beautiful art style I've been seeing as well for the past five volumes. I love Asuka's eye for style when she dresses up her characters.
This volume shows Kirishima and Yoshina's undeniable chemistry—a powerful force to reckon with. You can see how they complement each other, as in Yin and Yang. They bicker and fight, but those add spice to their relationship. It is an action-packed addition to the series that will leave you wanting more.
My last read for the year. Just when I am done with this series….it gets better. So I guess Imma continue on with it. I just need the next volumes on hand.
