Scoring Boston’s billionaire bad-boy hockey star was never my intention…

One drink after work to sort out the loss of my dad left this small-town nurse practitioner with way more than she bargained for.

Sprinkle in some pent-up testosterone and an act of valor, and you’ve got a broken nose and trip to the clinic where I’m forced to treat him.

If it wasn’t for his bloated ego & big-city attitude, I might appreciate this hunky-tatted hottie.

Next thing I know, I’m signing on as the team’s medic for an insane amount of money.

I’m no puck bunny, but his constant attempts to score have me curious about how he handles his stick.

The trouble is, Easton falls hard and wants more than I’m willing to give.
I don’t trust easily, and I won’t do long-distance relationships.

Saying yes to him means losing my family’s practice.

The clinic is a staple in this town, and now I’m forced to choose between our love or losing everything my father and I worked for.

I normally don't write reviews but I had decent hopes for this book and it did not deliver. Poor writing is really what brought this down. There was a lot of continuity errors and did not really seem like this writer understood the game of hockey which is fine but not when you're writing a hockey romance. It could've been good and I am sad it wasn't. Hopefully this writer has gotten an editor to help with their spacing issues and continuity errors. Spice was also lacking.

This was a small town opposites attract sports romance.

I really enjoyed this story and liked the characters. There is nothing like a reformed bad boy character.

Aubree Tucker is a small town nurse practitioner who is following in her father's footsteps of caring for her town's residents.

Easton Hunter is a bad boy hockey player for the Boston Havocs team. What he wants he gets - he is entitled and arrogant.

They met in a bar when he was involved in a bar fight and she took him to her practice to be checked out. When they arrived at her office the doctor she hired was banging their receptionist on Aubree's desk. She immediately fired both of them. Easton is fascinated by her and offers her a job as the medic for the team. He aggressively pursued her and they finally hook up for one night. He tells her he is in it for the long haul but she doesn't believe him. When the team has its bye week she goes home to try to hire another doctor and take care of her practice. When she comes home from work Easton is trying to cook her dinner in her house. He finally convinced her to be his official girlfriend and she seems to be all in until his manager Bianca pretends to sleep with him where Aubree will hear it. They break up, she quits the team and goes home. She hired a new doctor and she works on getting her practice in order. They eventually reconcile and get their HEA.

The moment I saw this available and it was a hockey romance…never downloaded a book so fast. My heart literally fell out of my chest and shattered on the floor. OMG the angst and heartbreak that I experienced reading this book - phenomenal. It’s usually the FMC that we see the heartbreak for and they pick themselves back up, so it was fun seeing it from the POV of MMC. Not to say, Aubree didn’t feel heartbreak either but it was just a nice change. I saw a lot of myself on Aubree and being emotionally closed off, it’s hard to get out of that mindset and let someone in. Easton was incredibly patient with her and reassuring her whenever he saw doubt in her. Granted you can’t have angst without someone messing with our leading couple, but my god that hurt me in ways I wasn’t ready for. I loved every minute of this.

Hockey romances are not normally my thing. But this one was adorable and hot and I couldn’t put it down. Aubree and Easton were well written characters. Aubree is stubborn and independent, while Easton is cocky but protective in one. The tension between them was high and full of spice. With Easton falling at first sight, and Aubree not giving an inch. This story keeps you wanting to keep reading until you’ve reached the end.

Disappointing. The story, as well as the lack of editing errors, made this difficult to read.

Although Autumn and Easton had chemistry together they spent more time traveling to each other than communicating. In addition, the plot and the required conflict really fell short.

Formulaic; needs editing

I have no problem with the odd comma missing or a misuse of a word. In this book, however, Storm doesn’t even conform to the basics of dialogue conventions, which quickly makes identifying the speaker difficult. Point-of-view and verb tense bounce around everywhere; characterization is inconsistent and contradictory.

HEA for Easton and Aubree

I am a big fan of one and done and move on books. There have been a few situations where I have found myself beginning of series and not being able to stop but generally I check books out before I get involved to make sure that it is a standalone, or that I have the time to invest in a series. This is a standalone.

Easton is a popular NHL player for the Boston Havocs. Popular in the sense that he is very active on the ice and is not beyond getting involved in altercations, which given ice reputation, is what a lot of people go to the games for. He also is not opposed to getting involved in altercations outside the ice rink if the situation arises.

One night, he finds Aubree ed bar and following an altercation. She does not want to leave him because, being a nurse practitioner, she is aware that he has possibly suffered a head injury. He refuses to go to the hospital, but she takes him to her “Podunk“ town, and into, her medical practice where they unknowingly find the doctor working in the practice, “going at it” with her receptionist on her desk. Needless to say, both are fired and before she knows it, she has been pulled in as part of the medical team for the Havocs.

Aubree, having lost her father a year ago has still not grieved the loss and finds herself running from situations that she would ordinarily have run to. Easton makes no bones about the fact that he is interested in her and not simply for one night stand. He sees in her something that he never thought he would find or be interested in and for him she is the only one. Easton and Aubree finally have a one night that opens her eyes to the possibilities of a future but fear keeps her from latching on completely. Easton tries not to push for more but throughout the book, he is generally trying to get her to label their relationship. He wants to “lock her down.“

Although he tells Aubree that he has never slept with his manager, Bianca, a situation in his hotel room leads her to believe otherwise. She confronts Easton, who is oblivious to what she is talking about and at that moment, in his mind, he decides that he is done. He’s accused of something he didn’t do and talking seems to be getting them nowhere. since she has never signed a contract with the team, he suggest that she go ahead and leave, since going home has always been on her mind. Although it’s evident that neither one of them want this to end, she does leave, and they have no contact for quite some time.

As stated, in the title, there is a happily ever after, and overall, it was an enjoyable read. Truly, I think my only complaint is the lack of proof reading. There were many situations where verbal passages that should have had quotation marks did not have them and yet the (“) marks were placed in as the paragraph continued. This wasn’t a one time occurrence and happened quite frequently throughout the book. Therefore, I think a proofreader would have been very beneficial. If one were used, they need to be more careful.

Wooo!! Can a book be any hotter than this one?!!!🥵🥵 I could not stop reading it. My life took a backseat to my reading today. I mean hello sexy, hot, hockey player who is dominanting this story space!! Goo Boston Havocs.💥🏒💥 Easton Hunter, good grief the name itself oozes alpha man, is about to steal your heart away. Just you wait. He took mine as he tries to win the nurse practitioner, aka Doc Aubree Tucker, in this feisty romance.

Yes they met, sort of, during a bar fight, and she took this stubborn, aggressive, flirty, big man to her clinic to have him checked out. And what they found in her office was like bat 💩 crazy funny. I mean come on Bunny and Simon.😝 Really? Aubree is a no-nonsense, outspoken, independent woman who's still grieving the loss of her Dad who had been a doctor, and this was his clinic, in their small town. For me, I see Aubree as the grumpy one. Easton is just being jealous and possessive. Her protective walls are way way up high and she fights Easton and his outspoken intentions to no end.

Easton is completely, utterly, smitten with Aubree. He's your bad boy. He's got women lusting for him while men want to either shake his hand or punch his face. He has a past. He's in the news daily. And Easton doesn't back down from anyone. His team players are equally hilarious.😂😂 He also makes an offer for Aubree to join and be a part of the medical staff on his team. The man needs her near him. He even says as much. It's like that y'all.😁 She does and it is game on.🙌🏻 🙌🏻

This has angst, tension, funny moments, swooning and sizzling fire between the couple!! It doesn't quit.❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Or rather, Easton doesn't. The man knows. He tries so hard to win Aubree's trust and heart. But a misunderstanding ensues and well... here comes the hurt. I even got frustrated with Aubree. The man more than met her half-way. He gave and gave. But come on girl, how many more hoops, and push and pull mind games are you going to play here? Will they find their way back to each other? And forgive? I can't spoil it. There is a complete circle as the story goes right back on a desk again.🤣🤣 The circle of life. Hurry and read this juicy love spell that Ms Storm has created. Love that book cover!!🔥😍🔥 Recommend! Enjoy.♥️

🎉🏆Thank you for an early book via Booksprout. This is my honest critique of this fabulous story.🏆🎉.

Sparks of Love on Ice

In Port Astoria and nearby Plum Island, small rural communities located not far from Boston’s hustle and bustle, Aubree Tucker’s dad had served the small communities’ health care needs for decades. And, with age and training, Aubree had joined dad’s practice as a nurse practitioner. But now that her dad has died, Aubree, an intelligent, talented and capable red-haired beauty with mossy green eyes, has sought desperately to find a doctor willing to work with her in the established practice that she had inherited.

And while Aubree could handle most of the patients who needed health care, focusing primarily on women, children and geriatrics, the practice still needed a licensed doctor on staff to meet the state’s licensing requirements. And she had finally found a physician willing to work in the slower paced community.

But, unfortunately she has discovered that new doc lacked the patient focus that Aubree expected—especially after she found him and the clinic’s newly hired receptionist engaged in a close examination of each other on the office desk. And so, after terminating the Romeo doctor’s contract, she seeks comfort in a local bar to regroup and to strategize how the clinic can operate without a doctor.

But further complicating her professional and personal life is the arrival in her small community’s pub of one of ice hockey’s most skilled skaters, Easton Hunter, the superstar skating warrior of the Boston Havocs. But Easton is also having a bad day culminating in a beer bottle being smashed on his head. So, compelled to provide medical assistance for the famously notorious ice warrior following a bar brawl, Aubree is unintentionally pulled into the whirlwind world of ice hockey.

The dark haired, blue-eyed ice athlete convinces his coach that Aubree’s medical skills are just what are needed to fill the opening for the team’s open medic position. And while Aubree’s plate is full, she needs a break. So, cobbling together substitutes for the clinic, she agrees to help the hockey team out by providing their medical needs for the next few weeks, just the time Easton needs to win the red-haired beauty’s heart.

🏒🏒ONE MIND-BLOWING TREAT🏒🏒
Jostling jerseys Jess! Haley brings it with this enticingly tantalizing, decadently delicious, skillfully enthralling, sinfully delightful, rock-my-world landslide, blasting through on gale force winds, riding thermals and standing strong. Attentive to the electrifying ups and tormenting downs, breathtaking in it's simplicity and inspiring in it's strength. The attraction and chemistry combusts with such intoxicating intensity and sizzling passion, exploding with boundless emotions and infinite affections, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned, uniting them together perfectly. The characters interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow adding depth and diversity, transforming into charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Beautiful job Haley, thanks for sharing this little thrill with us.

Scoring Boston’s billionaire bad-boy hockey star was never my intention
One drink after work to sort out the loss of my dad left this small-town nurse practitioner with way more than she bargained for.
When Aubree has to treat Easton she takes on more than she bargained for, then he asks her to work as the nurse on his ice hockey team.
Very likeable characters and sizzling hot Easton make this a fantastic close proximity, enemies to lovers romance. Filled with great dialogue that flows naturally dragging you right into the story.
Aubree hates hockey but he is intent on changing her mind about that and his bad boy, womaniser ways. He wants more than a fling but can she commit?
If steamy romance is your thing you'll love this romance. It's punchy and Aubree is feisty and sassy the perfect combination for an MC
I devoured this book in one sitting to find out the ending and it didn't let me down.

Putting his love on Ice

This is an adorable romance from the start. Aubree meets Easton when he crashes into her in a bar and needs to have his head checked. She's a nurse so takes him to her clinic to check him where he offers her a medic position with his Ice Hockey team. She's unsure as she has to find cover having fired the other doctor in her practice, but is persuaded to join them.

Easton is smitten with Aubree from the moment he saw her. He's got a reputation of the "Bad Boy of Boston" and always gets what he wants, but is willing to change for her, feeling protective and making sure his team know. But can he persuade her his feelings are true?

This is a great story of love, with tension, drama, spice, romance, misunderstandings, heartbreak and friendship. I found the chemistry between Aubree and Easton was great and loved the other members of his hockey team.

Aubree and Easton first meet when she takes him to her practice to take care of him after he is involved in a bar fight. Aubree is a nurse practitioner and she taking care of patients in her small town just like her father did before her. When they walk in, they find the doctor Aubree hired to help her with the receptionist having relations on her desk. So Aubree fires both of them on the spot. Easton is really impressed with how she handles herself and since he's a professional hockey player, he offers her a job working for the team. But not only does he want her to work for him, he wants her. He pulls out all of the stops trying to convince her and they do have one hot night together. But Aubree is still not convinced. Can Easton convince Aubree that this is real and that he's not just using her?

This had the potential to be a great story, unfortunately the plot was extremely inconsistent and the main characters were so immature that it felt like I was reading the dialogue of 12 year old children thinking they are in love but not understanding what that means. There was the additive confusion of adult smut scenes sprinkled in to try and give the allusion of intimacy but ended up manifesting as childish and toxic due to the characters interactions and lack of communication.

The author bounced between timelines and POVs with zero warning and little to no rhyme or reason. This story felt rushed, unorganized, and much like an extremely rough draft of what could eventually become a final product.

Final thoughts: With a strong rewrite and lots of editing this could be a great story.

This was my first hockey romance and it definitely won’t be my last! I loved Aubrey, she was so resilient and loyal to her practice that her dad left her. She was content in being alone and was burying herself in her work to overshadow her grief in losing her dad. Easton is quite the smooth talker and is instantly attracted to Aubrey’s spunk. I loved how Easton was able to bring out some fire in her. He pushed her buttons and made her rethink her life choices. Easton was a man who loved playing hockey but also loved to do things his own way, he didn’t like being told what to do and would usually just do whatever just to make a ruckus. These two were so different and yet the balanced each other so well. It’s not all sunshine and roses though, throw in a crazy manager, some commitment fears, and two stubborn people and it’ll be a miracle if they make it out together.

I love hockey stories, but this is a unique story with dramatic twist that has you wondering will they or won't they.

Easton and Aubree's path cross at a bar, she was only trying to help in after he got hurt, but he wanted more. This meeting a what happened directly afterward let me know this is a story I would not want to put down.

Yes, Easton is a well-known hockey player, so he has his fan and other who want more, but after meeting Aubree, she is the one for him. Aubree is struggling after the death of her father, her heart and mind are not where they need to be to handle Easton. Their story has the perfect amount of push/ pull and heart tugging struggle that has you wrapping up the pages.

Aubree is struggling with the grief of her father's death and the weight of the responsibility of running the medical practice in her home town. Her normal relaxed, carefree personality has become somewhat crushed.

Easton is a big, muscled, plain speaking alpha type whose life is pro hockey and his team players. That is until he gets a look at this knockout of a woman. His game plan is now focused on getting her.

Easton is honest and up front with what he wants and that's Aubree. She just can't believe that he'd want a small town girl like her when he could have any woman he wanted.

A fantastic heartfelt romance between two very different individuals. Another winner from Haley.

Like the characters... But the writing could use some proofing.

I quite liked the characters in this book, and I would first like to say that I understand how much work goes into writing a book, and that I am not perfect with grammar and punctuation. However, The amount of typos or just incorrect phrases in this book were quite high. I think I reported about 15.

I would also like to point out that the billionaire status mentioned in the title of this book is really absolutely irrelevant because he doesn't really use any of his money... He just casually mentions it twice.

I also don't appreciate how the female main character suddenly completely changes who she is because magically she is over her obstacle. It just felt incredibly rushed.

Aubreey was a nurse, she used to work with her father in his clinic, her father died not long ago.
One night she wanted to have a drink alone,so she went in a bar by herself.
After minutes she had her drink she was shoved in a corner by a big guy,so she doesn’t got hurt.the other guy slammed a bottle over this guy ‘s head.
She took him on her clinic to check him out.

Easton was a hockey player famous as a playboy,
When he put his eyes on Aubreey had a crush.
He wanted her to work for his team so he took her by lets say it by force.
She needed to sign the contract but for her it wasn’t easy to manage the clinic and the team.

Its a good book, this book when youre in half of it,
The story get more intresting and the more you read you can’t stop reading.

Good story, poorly written

The characters are likeable for the most part, though sometimes they are both childish. The plot is cute but it's not well written. Misspelled words and character names, grammar mistakes, words that don't exist and I couldn’t tell what word she was trying to use, words used incorrectly... and hockey doesn't have quarters (later does switch to periods).

Why are they all staying in hotels while in Boston, where the team is based? Players would have houses, condos, apartments...

How is he a billionaire? Seems his money is just from hockey and while salary plus endorsements can earn them a lot it is nowhere near billions.

How did his manger go into his hotel room, pull that, and then have him not press charges against her or the hotel???

Aubree Tucker , nurse practitioner meets Easton Hunter , bad boy hockey player when a bar fight breaks out and she takes him to her practice to get fixed up. When she walks in , the new doctor hire is banging her receptionist on her desk! Easton likes her spunk and offers her a job as team medic . A lot of will they won’t they and misunderstandings get in the way of their chances at a relationship but can Easton’s perseverance pay off for him or is their relationship strictly in the friend zone ? Well written IceHockey romance with great characters with depth and backstory.

Aubree is a nurse practitioner who is struggling to keep her father's medical practice running after his passing. In need of a break, she decides to go to a bar in a nearby town. However, while at the bar, she is pushed into the edge of the bar which causes her margarita to spill all over the front of her shirt. She meets Easton, the professional hockey player, at that moment. This story has plenty of romantic difficulties and steam, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

Good story line

For someone who reads daily, this was a hard one for me to get through. Only because there where so many gramatical errors, wrong words, words that don't exist. Not sure if there was an editor on this one but if so they missed a lot. Sometime I cought myself wondering if they authors second laungage was english.. maybe?
Like I said really good story line I liked it. But I had to re-read sentences to make sure that I was understaning and reading them correctly because they didn't always make sense.

Not too sporty

Light hearted fun read. Alpha male, tick. I don't know much about hockey, maybe it's their thing. I thought lacrosse players were more violent. The billionaire and grumpy bits eluded me, maybe it's just me but if your man has money to burn why wouldn't he be with you??? Where was I... ahh this is a nice romantic read, the ending though felt rushed. It's like the heroine had a personality change. I would recommend this if you need a light read you don't have to rake your brain to remember who did what.

Taming Her Heart & His Wild Ways

Easton is a great character, especially as he finds someone who will tame his wild ways. Aubrey on the other hand needs to be convinced of his feelings before she will trust him with her heart. The story had some surprises and interferences by others that create some drama before they can get their HEA.

These two were hot! When Easton was involved in a bar fight and Aubree, being a nurse practitioner, took him to the clinic to tend to his wounds, Easton immediately knew he wanted her. Being impressed with how she handled herself, he also wanted to hire her to work for the team.

Easton has his work cut out for him convincing Aubree that he is in for the long haul. Will she let him last her walls.

Easton came over as a petulant child for most of this book and at the end of it I wondered if he was somewhere on the spectrum! Aubrey I liked initially but have to say her behaviour and mind games would have destroyed a lesser person and Easton actually became the more likeable person. My head felt constantly on a swivel between the two and not in a good way. Disappointing as good storyline.

Easton - Famous NFL hockey bad boy

Aubree - Small Town Nurse Practitioner

Who would've thought a bar fight would bring them together...

He falls first, she is hesitant but her walls are slowly broken down.

I generally don't pay for books, because I'm a cheap ass!! But this one I took a gamble on, and it was great!

This is another great hockey story to add to my completed library ❤️

Thanks Haley!!!
