Claire Sinclair returns to her hometown, widowed and pregnant. When another car hydroplaned in a terrible storm, it hit her vehicle and that was the last she remembered. Dr. Sebastian Hastings saw the woman wheeled into the ER and got the update from the paramedics that the patient has multiple rib fractures and internal bleeding and looks about 35 weeks along in her pregnancy. They took her to the trauma room and he checked on the baby, finding that she was in active labor. With her serious injuries needing immediate surgery, they may lose one of them. But the “Jane Doe” woke and grabbed his wrist, pleading with her eyes to save them—and he recognized her, the woman whose heart he broke when he walked out on her.
The baby survived; Claire was in recovery but it was still touch-and-go whether she would make it or not. Now Seb needed to comfort his best friend, her brother Daniel, who was devastated as he looked at her in that condition. After two weeks, she had still not awakened. The baby was now breathing on his own and had gained a pound. So Seb asked Daniel if they could put the baby on her chest. Sometimes contact can make a difference, and there was nothing further they could try. Even opening her eyes was a struggle as an unfamiliar voice told her the baby was on her chest. When she saw Seb looking down at her, she demanded he call her brother and she refused to look anywhere else now except at her baby.
A year later, Daniel arrived with a little girl named Ella and told his sister he needed her to watch the child. She was Seb’s daughter! Seb’s sitter had cancelled and he was working a late shift. Daniel was going to watch her but a client needed him at a meeting. Seeing the look on Claire’s face, he explained Seb was married and his wife died 3 years ago during a heart surgery. When Seb came to pick Ella up, he saw Claire braiding her hair, having already polished her nails and he was angry. But instead of Claire reflecting that anger as she always had, she looked accepting and friendly! She hadn’t spoken to him in a year and he was suspicious. And he wasn’t ready to forgive the way she had treated him, angry that she acted like she knew his pain at losing his wife! Would they ever be able to talk about their past? Explanations were needed. And until they could call a truce, neither would heal. Or would they instead walk away and do what they could to just forget…
My Brother's Grump Best Friend is a steamy, instalove, second-chance, grumpy-sunshine, girl gets her brother's best friend romance. Claire is a single pregnant woman who has moved home after the death of her husband to live with her older brother. Sebastián is a grumpy, hunky doctor, single dad and her older brother's best friend. He is also a widower. Claire has always loved Sebastián and gave him her virginity at 18, only for him to break her heart and enlist in the navy. When Claire is in an accident, Sebastián saves her and her baby, but she wants nothing to do with him. After about a year, another tragedy strikes, and Sebastian ends up moving into their house with his daughter. Will old feelings resurface? What will her brother say? The chemistry between these two was off the charts. Their stories broke my heart, and I was on the edge, my seat waiting for Sebastián to stop being stupid. Finally, after some tense moments, we get a lovely HEA. I really enjoyed this couple and their journey to heal and find true happiness with each other. I have to read the other books in this series now.

Life is complicated and young love doesn’t always work out, Claire told Seb she loved him after pining for him all her life, after they shared a night together he left her telling her she wasn’t anything to him so she found someone to love her and left. Years later her husband dead and heavily pregnant she moves home to reconnect with her brother. After seeing Seb again they start where they left off but again he runs this time he realises his error and fights for her. To me she forgave too quickly, I took a star off as the ending she and her mother are all friendly yet her mother treat her badly as a child and then as an adult and it suddenly transformed into a good relationship it didn’t make sense to me at all. I did enjoy all other aspects of the book tho.
I couldn't imagine how she handled her childhood with how her mother treated her. I can see why she felt the way she did after how he treated her when she was a teenager. They both went thru such traumatic things in their lives however that is something only the two would understand. I would love to see what happens next for them all.

Claire and Seb hooked up one night, in the morning he was gone. Years later they both ended up back in Braden Bay their hometown. Both single after losing their partners. Claire still loved Seb but he was fighting his feelings for her. He finally realized she was always the only one he wanted.
This story has promise! The character's personalities grow as the story develops. I think you know early on what will happen in the end. But there are good twists and turns.
