What a read! Jacquiline Cox created a bombshell of a book with this autobiography. It was amazing to see her be so transparent with us about her struggle as a young woman in urban society attempting to form lasting relationships with many who devalued her, and some even tried to destroy her. It is her well written story that relates to those of so many women trying to find their way in society. From the violent interactions with men to the unfavorable treatment from family members. Jacquiline’s book is an explosively beautiful reminder that beauty can arise from even the most horrific events happening in our lives. This book is a must have!!!
This book remarkably resembles a movie script in its storytelling. Comparable TV narratives can't capture the depth of pain shared by other youngsters and adolescents undergoing trauma of sexual assault, neglect and childhood abuse. The author's courage in sharing her own story is truly remarkable.
Jacqueline Cox took a significant risk in unveiling the truth about her childhood and teenage years. Her remarkable transparency and honesty as she skillfully unravels her narrative are truly commendable.
We should applaud Jacquiline memoir as an inspiring journey towards resilience. I hope that many others will also find value in reading it.
I received an advance copy of this book for review
I had the honor of being an ARC reader, it reads well, it takes you in a journey of a young girl struggle to live, love and overcome what seemed impossible odds. She pushed her way through life’s twist and turns. I truly enjoyed her determination.
This memoir was written to inspire others. Your life may have been a living hell, but you decide whether to accept it or make it better. Jacquiline wanted to be loved more than anything else. Her parents loved her,but but had their own demons to deal with. Being addicted to drugs. Her grandparents took the children in. She was lighter than her siblings and was often shunned. as a teenager in and out of foster care, she would get involved with older men. These men would abuse her. It became a vicious cycle until enough was enough. Jacquiline was able to escape some of the turmoil in her life by attending college. When you let people go in your life, don't be so quick to let them back in. You'll have to read the book to see how Jacquiline's life has changed.
Jacquiline’s Mountains Can't Rise without Earthquakes is a heartfelt and inspiring memoir that showcases the resilience of the human spirit. Through vivid storytelling, she takes readers on an intimate journey through her tumultuous childhood marked by parental abandonment, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. The raw honesty with which Jacquiline recounts her experiences is both heart-wrenching and deeply moving.
The narrative hits its most poignant moments as Jacquiline describes being homeless at just 14 years old, with no support system to rely on. Yet, what sets this memoir apart is her unwavering determination and perseverance to overcome adversity. Her transformation from a young girl with seemingly insurmountable struggles to a woman who built a life filled with love and success is nothing short of remarkable.
Jacquiline’s writing is compelling and evocative, drawing readers into her world. Her journey serves as a beacon of hope for anyone facing their own struggles, making this book a source of inspiration and empowerment. The title is a perfect metaphor for her story: the earthquakes of life may shake us to our core, but they also create the mountains that define our strength and character.
Mountains Can't Rise without Earthquakes is a powerful read that will resonate with anyone who has faced adversity. Jacquiline’s courage in sharing her story so openly is commendable, and her resilience reminds us that even in our darkest moments, there is hope for a brighter future.
Recommended For: Readers seeking inspiration, survivors of abuse or abandonment, and those looking for a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
This book reads like a script for a movie. Similar stories on TV don't compare to the pain of knowing other children and teens are experiencing the same trauma. What a brave undertaking by this author to tell her story.
Mrs. Cox risked telling the truth to reveal the bad, ugly, shocking child neglect and sexual abuse she endured as a child and teen. Her ability to be so transparent & honest as she carefully weaves her story is brilliant. I cringed at the intense scenes, cried at the sad ones, and celebrated when the author had her wins.
We should celebrate this memoir as an example of a journey to resilience. I pray others benefit from reading it as well.
I truly enjoyed reading Jacquiline’s story. I literary read it straight through in one sitting. Excellent read.
I resonated with her story on several levels. I could feel her need to continually want the love of her parents which always seem to be just beyond her reach. As young as she was, she begged her mother not to leave her, but she knew her mother had no choice. The lack of love sent her on a journey that took though darkness that would have suffocated most people, but she persevered. She fell down … but she got up.
I commend her for her courage to speak boldly of trials and triumphs that molded her to be who she is today.
This book is a must read, especially for those struggling to find their way.
