Spooky Cat

Rate this book
Demi has always said 'bless you' when someone sneezes. It's the polite thing to do. But does their cat count? When Missy sneezes and Demi fails to utter the appropriate response, a demon takes over their cat. The unlikely pairing undertakes adventure and hilarity, battling bigots and bigger demons, to get all the things necessary for an exorcism. Because as much as Demi doesn't want a demon in their cat, the demon wants to be there even less.

Okaaaay this was the cutest but thrilling book ever! CH Lyn fit in sooo much in such a small story but did it with depth and detail!!
I totally am hoping my cat becomes a spooky demon and I get to experience the same exciting adventure that Demi does!
Demi is a non binary soul whose cat becomes a spooky sneeze demon and needs to gather the means to go through an exorcism! Great banter and even better for adventuring! Loved this story so much!

A Vella read. A quirky, fun, and quick read. For such a short story, it packed a lot of detail and provided detailed characters. Surprisingly, it made me like the little demon.

“Spooky Cat” by C.H. Lyn, the first book in the Spooky Cat Stories series, caught my eye immediately with its intriguing title. How could I resist a book combining my obsession with cats and a penchant for spooky tales? This story was a delightful blend of darkness and fun, striking a balance that kept me engaged from start to finish. The author’s writing style drew me in, creating an eerie and entertaining atmosphere. The plot was well-crafted, with enough twists and turns to keep me on my toes.

One of the standout elements of the book was its ending. It was well-executed and satisfied me, though I wished the book was longer. The characters were memorable, especially the titular spooky cat, who added a unique charm to the story. Overall, “Spooky Cat” was a great read. If you're looking for a short, dark, and fun tale, this book is perfect. I look forward to exploring the Spooky Cat Stories series more and seeing what other adventures await.

Spooky cat was a cute and fun little read. ❤️ Making unusual friends by accident.. ❤️ Demi and the sneeze demon not only fight off three men but they are faced to fight of the sneeze demon gate keeper while they prepare for a exorcism to get the sneeze demon out of Demi’s cat… 🐈‍⬛
I really hope there is a sequel on how this friend group goes on.

But remember don’t forget to say bless you after someone sneezes 😉

Though a short read, the writing was still very well done. I really loved this idea and can't wait to see what happens next!

very short story but entertaining. Demi forgets to say "bless you" when her cat sneezes and next thing she knows is a demon is looking back at her. After a slightly botched attempt to free her cat from possession she ends up saving the demon. definitely wished it was longer

When saying bless you goes a little, wrong?

What a cute and cozy little read! I finished Spooky Cat in about 30 minutes, but for such a short story a lot happened and it was paced perfectly and had plenty of detail. Full of great banter and a sassy new demon companion 🫶🏼

Skia in the basket on Demi’s bike made me cackle, and “are you not contacting enough of your species?” 🚲

Definitely read Spooky Cat if you’re in need of a quick pick me up, or a refresher in between books. Thank you Chloe for letting me borrow this 🫶🏼

Great read to start the spooky season

Such a nice read to start the spooky season off right. Loved the story and the characters. Enjoyed the humor of the story as well. Had me laughing at moments so hard and then sitting in anticipation of what would happen. An all around really amazing and enjoyable read.

I won this book as part of a giveaway on IG. It is it a lovely, cozy paranormal book with found family! I adored it!

Each main character is lovable in their own way. I adore how atmospheric the writing is and the little details that make all the difference.

While it is a cozy read, I would have liked some more content warnings. The catcalling and physical assault were more than what I expected. They could be triggering for readers, especially without any warning ahead of time.

I bought the sequel and am excited to finish it! I am also happy that there is a third installment being released this Friday, on July 26th.

Overall, Spooky Cat is a lovely, quick read that I highly recommend!

What happens when you forget to say bless you to your cat? It gets possessed by a sneeze demon of course.
This was a fun quick little story, but I loved the originality and heart of it.

This was sooooooo cute to read!
Spooky Cat is like a palette cleanser that you just have to keep consuming.
I love the world. I love the demon. I love Demi. I just want more!

This was a super quick read novella, and it was perfect! The writing was easy and I absolutely adored that the demon helped Demi, and then Demi helped the demon. Such cute companion / found family vibes!

If you need a quick, cute little read pick this one up!!

This is a great introduction to the Spooky Cat universe. The characters are well written, and the plot is just plain fun. The concept is very creative, and although the ending is satisfying, it leaves you wanting more Spooky Cat.

This was a Kindle Vella pick that I had chosen when being given a chance to download a Vella book and was hoping for one the wasn't really a romance. Anyway the cover was intriguing to me and the name as well as blurb so I clicked on it.

Spooky Cat from what I can see appears as a trilogy focused on the eventual exorcism of a shadow demon who crossed the threshold and came to possess a beloved cat when she sneezed (this is an indirect assumption as the book isn't quite clear about this) and wasn't blessed by her owner. Anyway in this first book of the series Demi (not a creative name when all things are considered) meets the demon and then starts off to collect the ingredients that are necessary for the ritual to be completed. Along the way the reader gets to know more about the two of the three main characters from the start of the story.

Unlike other stories the author does a great job in applying a bit of a twist towards the end and although it should have been something I could see coming, the end is definitely unique while being formulaic at the same time. I just wish there was a bit more development but I guess that is what will be coming in books 2 and 3 hopefully.

All in all it was decent but to me not really spooky at all as promised. As a result I am up in the air whether I really want to follow on with the rest of the series as a result since there are so many other Halloweenish books to read this month.

3/5 it’s was cute 🐈‍⬛

Demi’s is a bon-binary recluse who didn’t say bless you when it’s cats sneezed. Who doesn’t want a demon cat? Well the demon for one doesn’t want to possess a cat and Demi for two wants their cat back.

This is a very quick read on their journey to the apothecary to get supplies for an exorcism. ☠️

There are no deep themes or thoughts. This is a very short novella that comes in 3 short stories. Happy haunting! 🎃

Kicking off the spooky season with this book was a fantastic choice! The story captivated me with its engaging characters and the humor woven throughout was a delightful surprise. It had me bursting into laughter one moment and on the edge of my seat the next, eager to see where the tale would lead. This was an exceptionally entertaining read that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

How can such a short book be so damn good.
.
Spooky Cat is a well written novella about finding friendship when you least expect it.
.
It contains some light horror elements, but it is highly worth a read. I am happy to see there are more in this series, which I will devour.
.
Does make me look at my cat in a different light hahahhaha will be watching his eyes.

This is a cute little quick read perfect for spooky season. This story follows Demi and her cat who just so happens to be possessed by a shadow because of a sneeze. If that made you curious, go read the book. I am glad I happened across a Tiktok live with the author or I probably would have never found this book.

Cute little story. It’s only 50 pages. Definitely a story if you grew up thinking that if you didn’t say bless you when someone sneezed. Also definitely a twist you didn’t think would happen.

I know C.H has a special edition omnibus for the spooky cat series but I wish she would have made a regular book omnibus.

Short and sweet little story. This a quick spooky vibe story, perfect if you want a little demon-possessed cat for Halloween. I would say this is safe for most teenagers (maybe some older tweens, but always check it out for yourself).

I look forward to the road trip in the next one.
