A bit slower-paced than the first two books, but the funniest moments are from the dragon-crazed guild leader. And now, there is suspicion of a foot with the younger three Heroes who are in danger.
An alright book. I enjoyed the where Macoda and familiars just interact and really like parts where the plot progresses since this premise interests me alot. The cooking parts are mid for me and are not the pain draw for me. I am still waiting on the big hook of this series but am not sure if it exists. I really liked how powerful everyone is getting from the Gods' blessings. The dungeon was nice with nice environments. I see alot of potential for me enjoying the rest of the series and the amount of books left excites me because I really do enjoy this premise
I missed the anime so I decided to pick up the novel. The manga has so many deleted scenes so the novel is definitely better. It was an enjoyable read.
When the character says doesn't want to go but the familiars insist...Like marriage you end up going. Good story, like the gods but want to see what comes next. Get volume4 out!!!
Hmmm, there are clear differences between the Manga and LN, though I am not mad at it. I guess some stuff works better in a visual form and other stuff in written form, or it's just probably tweaks made after the fact to enhance the story. Still enjoyable though.
It's amusing the situations this MC gets into, but he continues to be a coward with only minimal development. The humor is what keeps me reading though.
Why did you read this book? I like this cozy fantasy isekai about food, so I decided to buy the whole light novel series.
What format did you read this book in? Read it as an eBook on Kindle.
Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment? I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.
What genres do you think this book belongs to? Art, Fantasy, Fiction, Humor and Comedy, Travel
What was your favorite part of the book? Honestly, I just like how OP the group was. Especially the fact they destroyed the final boss of the dungeon so easily.
Who would you suggest this book to? I think this book would be great for anyone who isn’t burnt out on the isekai genre, likes cooking (mainly Japanese food), and likes a light-hearted cozy fantasy story.
What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? I enjoyed reading this book in the background while I was doing other things (using the TTS function). This is the group's first dungeon dive. This world has an interesting magic system. Mukoda’s familiars are hunting and food fanatics. They are all too cute (especially Sui). Lol, now there are even more gods our poor MC has to please. It’s terrible what happened to the teen “heroes” Mukoda’s originally got summoned with. I thought it was going to be romantic, not scary slavery stuff. Like the volumes before this one, I liked it a lot, but this series isn’t for everyone.
Any trigger warnings? Racial and Religious: Racism, Racial Slurs, Slavery, Prejudice Mental Health: Panic Attacks Violence and Death: Death, Animal Death, Extreme Violence, Gore, Described Blood, Graphic Violence Other: Classism
Mukohda and his familiars have finally reached the dungeon city of Dolan---and Fel couldn't be happier. But diving into such a deep dungeon is going to involve its own share of difficulties. Mostly food-related, for this party. Fel, Dora-chan, and Sui are fully capable of crushing anything in their way, but Mukohda still has to feed them . . .
If you've followed the story up to this point, then most of the developments won't be a surprise. It's a cycle of eat-crush enemies-more food. With a few wrinkles like a dragon-crazy guild master and some other shopping Mukohda needs to get out of the way.
It does strike me that this would be possibly better as a manga, or animated, in the sense that so much of the dungeon dive is not all that interesting. It's not like they can keep the corpses for later meals, so everything boils down to the useless loot and the few adventurers they meet along the way. And the humor from watching Mukohda freak out over every new danger.
Overall this is still not likely to convince anyone who didn't already like the first two books. I rate this book Neutral.
I’m still enjoying the overall adventure, but skipping the excessive cooking descriptions. Unfortunately the writing is still pretty clumsy, with a lot of awkward and repetitive phrasing, telling instead of showing, etc. For example, the blacksmith and war gods have names, but kept calling each other “hey, god of blacksmithing!” etc. that’s weird.
The value of things is also not thought out. I want to know how you buy three bottles of whiskey for 3 silvers, which if I understand correctly, is about 3000 yen, currently about $22 USD. Is this very cheap whiskey, or super tiny bottles? Is alcohol in Japan amazingly cheap?? Besides the online store, occasionally he’ll go shopping for local products, and they seem on the expensive side. Mukouda does have an absurd amount of money so he can afford whatever he wants, but that’s not normal for this world. How do normal people survive?
mukohda's got his hands full cooking for three familiars now, and I very much enjoy reading about the food and cookery. there's just something about that that's fun to read for me. but then they meet elrand...apparently I can wrap my head around differences in culture, but I have issues with crazy-ass boundary stompers no matter what world they're in.
the gods and goddesses are also a bit...extra, in this installment, for they don't take no for an answer since they forced their blessings onto mukohda and believe that they should get anything they want. still, mukohda is able to rein it in, and I think he says in a later installment that if it really bothered him that much, he'd just renounce the blessings and be done with them. I think the gods and goddesses get less annoying to me as time goes on because of that.
The third book in this absolute fun series, We continue our adventure with the spirited away adventurer and his three familiars, the Magickal wolf, the Pixie Dragon and the slime. As usual, recipes are... interesting (Apparently giant spider legs taste like crab) and we are introduced to a dungeon city with an elven Adventurers Guild guildmaster with an unhealthy obsession with dragons (Just like that one weird cousin we all have that is wayyy too much into Ferraris).
As always I highly recommend this series if you love Fantasy in a Japanese flavour.
I understand that this isn’t written well, but it’s my comfort read dag nabit! Sometimes I need a palette cleanser of cute animals eating food.
This volume includes more gods, a dungeon town/dungeon crawl, an unnecessarily annoying and creepy character, and of course Fel, Dora-chan, and Sui being Uber adorable while hungry.
Also, when Mukoda refers to them as his kids I 😭 every time.
Of the three books I read so far this one is my favorite, the MC finally developed a little bit of a back bone, after entering the dungeon which made the the book so much more enjoyable.
Still an enjoyable story, though the battle scenes and the dungeon diving got a bit repetitive. I’m enjoying the little side stories where we get to see what’s happening with certain side characters and I’m looking forward to seeing how that develops
I enjoy this series allot. It's a fun, easy, and enjoyable read. The story is light hearted for the most part, with a bit of seriousness for flavor. Add in it's unique characters and viola you have a good book!
I really enjoyed the fact that all 3 familiars get along and that the gods have taken an interest in him. No matter what they say…I think the god of creation intentionally summoned mokohda to that world.
I love how the main character is around my age, how he is realistically cautious and cooks food,he inspired me to cook, though sometimes I wish there were more descriptions in the book
Entretenida lectura, aunque no entiendo por qué en la portada hay un personaje que no aparece en este volumen. Si te gusta cocinar y te gusta la magia y las aventuras, está es tu lectura. Vamos ahora con el volumen 4.
Mukoda is told about a dungeon on the city of Dolan where he is taking the Earth Dragon to be butchered. @ new gods are introduced. There is also a follow-up about the "heroes" but I don't care much about those characters, so I hope they are removed from the anime series. Mukoda gets his first magic stove! They also meet the first party Iron Will again. It ends when they conquer the dungeon. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
There is so little in the way of actual plot that I found myself skimming and skipping pages and pages. Is Mukohda still cooking or shopping, yes/no? Yes, skip. No, read to see what's he on about. Oh no, italics, time to skim.
