Monsters' Manor

Rate this book
Welcome to Edgar’s Acres, where the frights are delightful and the shadows are always watching.

Losing my job was bad, but ending up on my witch of an aunt’s doorstep as a last resort is even worse.

Her offer? Embrace the magick I’ve always denied and come work for her at our family’s haunted manor. The one staffed by monsters who aren’t just people in costumes, including two in particular who draw me in immediately.

Renwick, the irritating, sexy demon who teases and taunts me to the very edge of my sanity. And Silas, the gentle, shadow-cloaked shade who only seems to want to protect me. They’ve got a history between them I’m not sure how I fit into, but as the autumn nights grow longer and darker, it gets harder and harder to stay away from either of them.

My aunt’s given me a deadline—accept my place amongst monsters and witches by Samhain night, or pack it up and head back to the mundane world.

Now, I’ll have to decide whether I’m brave enough to reach out and claim my two monstrous lovers and the powers I’ve always feared, whether I’m ready to step into this world of magick and dark desire.

Me ha gustado mucho. No me lo esperaba.
(Adjunte risa nerviosa).
+3

“Entire communities hidden by wards and glamours, monster doing their best to remain unnoticed while walking amongst humans. ”

Lo juro, no me esperaba yo esto para nada. Sigo a esta autora desde Nora’s Kraken y cuando vi que iba a publicar esta novela, nada más verla dije: Uff no. Ni de coña. No voy a leer esto.

“After dark, the manor monsters let their beastly side come out to play, and everynight they prove again why Edgar’s Acres has won its hard-earned reputation for being the most terrifying attraction in the upper Midwest”.

Qué equivocada estaba. Como siempre. No sé por qué me sigo sorprendiendo porque al final peco de hipócrita.

“You feel like midnight to me”

Oh vaya.

3.5 ⭐️

- MMF (witch x demon x shade)
- primal play
- shadow bondage
- found family

Monster’s Manor is fast paced but cozy, and chock full of spicy goodness to boot!

The books follows Rosemary, who ends up at Edgar’s Acres, her family’s haunted manor, after a bit of accidental magical arson causes her to lose her job in the mundane world.

While there she may work and live amongst the other monsters and witches, but her aunt has thrown down an ultimatum: come to terms with and master the magic inside her by Samhain, or head back to her life in the human world.

Easier said than done when Rose has spent the last decade and a half afraid of who and what she is, but eventually gives in and starts training with the sexy but infuriating demon, Renwick.

When she’s not wanting to throttle Renwick, Rose spends time with Silas, the sweet and kind shade who befriended her, but soon learns the two males have a complicated past. That doesn’t stop her from going after what she wants, and things heat up between the three of them (separately, at first).

As Samhain arrives, Rose finally makes her decision on whether she’s staying at Edgar’s Acres or heading back to her old life, and after a tiny hiccup with her menfolk, she lives happily ever after.

I honestly would have loved for Monster’s Manor to have been a bit longer and more fleshed out. Things felt a bit rushed given the shortness of the book, and would have enjoyed seeing things drawn out a bit more between Ren and Rose, and more backstory to Silas and Ren. Overall though this was cute and I enjoyed it!

⬇️ ARC REVIEW ⬇️

Thanks to the author for the advanced ebook copy 🙏💖

This book was an amazing cozy read with just the right amount of spice. It's perfect if you're in the mood for an autumnal monster read. 🥰

" Such a wicked little witch. Such a wicked, caught little witch. My pretty, pretty prey."

Spice level: 3.5 🌶️
Smut frequency: 3.5 ⏳

Tropes:

😈 Big & commanding Demon
👻 Sweet Shades with tendrils
🪄 Witch with a smart mouth
🏡 Found Family

----------------------—

~ STORY & PLOT 📝 ~
First of all, I had no business having so many highlights in a book that only has 211 pages! 😂

It was such an easy and cozy read!

-
Monster's Manor is a short story about a witch who, after living all her life in the "human world", got to go back into the family business because she didn't have anywhere else to go.

There, she'll need to face her fears and learn to grow in order to be able to stay.

That's where she meets her 2 monsters, a caring Shade, and an irritating Demon . Both of them will help her overcome her past but also accept who she truly is.
🥰
-

Honestly, I would have loved for the story to be longer. Like, to have more in "the middle". The plot is greatly introduced at the beginning of the book and the end is well-detailed so it feels amazing when you finish the book. But the middle part felt cut short for me.

It's just Rose telling us what's been going on for weeks or months in a few pages when it would have been so interesting to really read about it. 🥲💔

~ ROMANCE & MAIN CHARACTERS 💖 ~
For a short story, I found all of the MCs still greatly depicted and the growth in their relationships is well shown.

I love how Rose is often very relatable in her reactions and feelings. I love how sweet and gentle Silas is. I love the filthy mouth and caring side of Ren! 🔥

Long story short, they're all great 🙌

~ SPICE 🌶️ ~
You'll find (among other things) :
💬 Dirty talk /Praise / Light degradation
༆ Tentacles / Tendrils play
🌳 Outdoors s£x
🏃🏽‍♀️ Very light primal play
2️⃣ Double p£n£tration

All of that on MF, MM, and MMF relationships 🥰🔥

I really enjoyed this book!! It was a really nice fast-paced book. This book had the best fall vibes. The banter between the characters and the connections that they were able to form made this book a 5-star book for me. If you want a good fall monster romance book this is for you!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great and quick novella for the spooky season! It has monsters, witches, magic, and a good amount of spice. I honestly wish that this was a full length book. It did seem a little bit rushed. The world was so interesting and I really liked the characters. The setting seemed to take place at a haunted house/corn maze/pumpkin patch farm. So it would have been so cool to deep dive into the lore of this world and the characters themselves.

I really hope that the author writes more novellas in this universe.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novella a would recommend it!

love a fast-paced, fun and hot love triangle that is actually a triangle and ends up in polyamory.

I loved Rose's great banter with Ren, the feisty and more flirty mmc; her immediate emotional connection with Silas, the sweet and more soft mmc; and the past intimacy Ren and Silas had with each other. When the three of them were together you could feel that they were meant to be, and I loved them so much.

Just a good time and a great way to end my october spooky/monster-y reads.

Very much enjoyed this one. A great short story with well-written characters, a good plot, and great spice. I enjoyed the characters in this book and was interested in what would happen. Just the perfect thing I needed to get out of my little slump. I think this could have worked better as a full-length novel, but it was still great.

I LOVED IT! I’m a sucker for good monster smut and this was a perfect little Fall weekend read.

I’ve read all of Leigh Miller’s other books and I just enjoy her writing so much, this book did not disappoint! I loved seeing her branch out into the MM/MMF category, the spice scenes were perfect 🙌 The banter and chemistry between the characters was excellent, I would read so many epilogues with these three 😄😍

Because it was a short read, the story itself was pretty fast paced and I would have loved to get more into Ren and Silas’s histories both together and before they individually came to Edgar’s Acres. Also, unless I missed it, there wasn’t an actual description of Rose (aside from one time mentioning her curls). I mean, you can see what she looks like on the cover, but it still kind of threw me off.

Ultimately, this was still a 5⭐️ read for me and I definitely recommend this cozy spooky season book 🔮😈👻

Ms. Miller, you did it again!

Overall, I really enjoyed Monsters' Manor - the fast pace; the cast of characters, their struggles, and how they interacted with one another; the magical autumnal witchy vibes, and the nice amount of spice - all wrapped up into a short feel-good and indulgent read.

One of my favorite things about this book was that our FMC Rose had very human and relatable struggles in accordance with the elevated stakes. Portraying her anxiety of feeling like she has big shoes to fill should she accept her magickal life was really well done.

And the smut. Muah. There's definitely something for praise people, brat people, and of course, people who enjoy both. I consider myself a regular spice consumer, but some of these lines and scenes still had me blushing.

I think I would have liked to see a little bit more angst on Ren's side, and tension between Ren and Silas fleshed out given heir history. Despite this, I think the delivery was really good given the length of the story. Thank you for the banger, Ms. Miller.

Read Again: I would read again!

Well, this is a book that will be going on my reread pile for Samhain this year! This book had a sassy witch that hard past, a shade that needs a form and a demon that gives sweet banter. ❤️ The FMC is strong and is learning to move past her own pass to move forward in her future. Even if it takes a "tail" and "shadow" to help guide her in a demonic way.

I finished this book in 2.5 hours because it was just delicious, and I couldn’t put it down.

The spicy is amazing! We get FM, MM, MFM and MMF. I loved getting a taste of the different pairings and how that affected the overall magic in the story.

Details to know?
Silas and Renwick knew each other, and were romantically involved before Rose is introduced. This happened a couple of years ago. Silas is a being who can shift throughout shadows, and can only partially shift himself to solid until he finds his anchor. Which he could then become completely solid. Renwick and Silas believed that Renwick was his anchor but it didn’t work. So there was a falling out between the two of them.
There is a scene towards the end where Rose walks in on Silas giving Renwick head. At this point she had been intimate with the both of them, and there was not a conversation about exclusivity. So she knows it’s not cheating, but besides sexual tension between the two (Silas and Renwick) the last thing she was told was they were the past. She left it at that, which then lead to being surprised by them having oral sex (that she walks in on).

My thoughts?
As I have so far, I’ve loved every Leigh Miller book I’ve read. Whether they’ve been read on kindle unlimited or I’ve been gifted with an ARC.

That being said, it’s no surprise that I also love this book. The natural build of Rose’s relationship with Silas and Renwick separately was well done. It also made perfect sense why Rose was ignoring her powers instead of trying to work with them.
I did find the oral scene to be jarring as a reader. Like it’s made obvious that’s there’s sexual and emotional tension between the two of them, which makes sense with their pasts.
I was just as shocked as Rose was at her walking in on them, and as much as I acknowledge it wasn’t cheating, it felt like something….
You see, Renwick and Silas already have that emotional foundation for a relationship. They have the romance, and the past heartbreak mixed in with some pining. They gave off the vibe of being in love, without saying the words. While I usually eat up this dynamic, I also couldn’t help but wonder- what about Rose? Where does she fit in with this? Besides being the other half of Silas’ required anchor. As a reader I had gotten used to the “V” like dynamic where there was tension between Silas and Renwick, but neither had come forward and talked out their feelings with Rose.
Then within a chapter of the oral walk-in, they’re all fine and dandy. *deep suspicion*
I had to push away all of these thoughts to enjoy the rest of the book, because I can’t tell if I’m being picky (which is likely) or if this would be a shared concern/question?
Also, I checked back and by a word search of “love” the three of them do not exchange “I love yous” by the end.
Rose’s mom was also left open ended, but she seemed to be quite the (negative)character so I wasn’t jumping at the opportunity to have to read about her. Especially with Rose’s trauma with her magic stemming from her very human Mother.

Overall, I wouldn’t mind a short story type of the three of them. Of how exactly they settle into the relationship, and how Rose ends up settling into their dynamic in the long run.

Why be jealous when you can share?

Rose has hit rock bottom. After a burst of uncontrolled bagic nearly burned down her last office, she's come home to Edgar's Acres. Hidden in plain sight, this community of witches and monsters run the country's premier Hautned House. Rose finds their passion comicial, but her Aunt admonishes that the Acres are far more than a tourist attraction. Behind the scenes, there are hundreds of enchantments allowing monsters to live in plain sight and be active members of the town.

This fluffy monster romance has small town charm and the perfect October ambience. The ensemble characters are delightful gargoyles, fortune tellers, vampires and a less delightful harpy. Amidst fighting her growing powers and instilled prejudice, Rose lands herself in a full blown love triangle. Well... to her it's a love triangle. Everyone else in the Acres cultivates a more open mindset about dating. But the attraction that she feels for the overly-eager Renwick and the overly-perceptive Silas is more than she can compartmentalize.

The highlight for me was Silas' abilities as a Shade. Being non-corporeal, he perceives energy and during spicy fun-times, her pleasure becomes his literally. It reminds me of the mental connection in Sense8 (tv). The hot factor is 100000x but with a tender longing to hold and comfort each other that the author writes so well. BDSM fans will enjoy the many similarities between sub drop and "magick drain", the primal chasing, her bratting and Renwick's dominance.

I'm just sad that this is a novella because I could bine 10 more books about this town.

For a quick little fix this was what I was looking for.

A witch, a shade, and a demon? Sign me up.

The story follows Rosemary, a witch down on her luck who finds solace in her aunts haunted house - which actually caters as a safe space for monsters to exist without glamours and hiding.

Enter in Silas, the sweetest shade in existence constantly checking in with her, making sure she’s alright, but bound to shadows without a corporeal form to touch or taste with. This doesn’t stop Rose from pursuing him and he makes it clear she is welcome to explore other options.

Then comes Renwick, a cocky demon with a penchant for control and sarcasm, hell bent on pushing Rose far away from her comfort zone in order to help her gain control over the fire magick that’s terrified her and controlled her life. Sparks fly between the two and the banter is *chefs kiss*

So what’s a girl to do when she’s stuck between a sweet cinny roll shade and an overbearing alpha male demon? Enjoy the both of them of course 😈

I loved the story, the build, the growth, the banter, all of it thrown together in a bite size book I thoroughly enjoyed and will be checking out more of the authors work through this 🖤

A sweet Shade, an assertive demon and a witch running from her magick, what could go…. Right? EVERYTHING. Leigh cooked and I ATE. This was sweet and spicy and beyond delicious. A perfect Samhain read. Generational Magick and a manor that houses monsters of all kind, performing for locals to celebrate the season and living among them in secret. Our sassy and strong FMC Rose was beautifully written. With a painful past with magick she runs from hers until she has no where to go but the manor. She meets Renwick our charming demon who is tasked to help her hone her skills and control that magick. We meet Silas our sweet Shade along the way and watch him learn his worth and get worshipped like he deserves. This was amazing and everything a monster romance should be. Did I mentions there’s chapters of delicious spice (with sweet tones) consecutively? Yup! Why choose, monsters, magick… what more could you want?

ARC Review: Leigh Miller found her calling in writing spicy books, this is my fourth book of hers I’ve read and I have to say they never disappoint when it comes to that. This one I wish had more story build up because it moved a little quick for me. It wasn’t a bad thing just not my personal reading preference for story pace. Overall, a great multi person spicy read if that is what you are after!

Oh my Gosh! I DEVOURED this story!!! It was soo good! I absolutely love Silas, he’s such a cutie sweetie pie but also delicious shadow daddy, and Ren is also a delicious dom! I loved the found family aspect of this as well, the fact that there was utter acceptance of her into their community. This is such a wonderful story, with a very happily ever after. I 100% recommend this, and it’s the absolute perfect story for spooky season!

The title says it all Monster Manor. Rosie 😂 (if you read the book you’ll know why I am laughing) is a witch, who was raised for the most part in the human world. Now she at her family’s manor. I swear this should be a joke in the book, 2 demons and a witch walk into a manor…. Anyway Rosie has had some issues so she’s at her family’s manor working. She meets some demons aaand??? This is a pretty short but spicy cozy fall vibe read so I ate it up.

I really enjoyed this short and spicy read! I’ve been wanting to read some Halloween/fall vibe books and this hit the spot. I loved watching Rosemary face her fears and grow into her powers. I also loved her relationships with Renwick and Silas. Very spicy!

“‘I don’t believe in jealousy, Rosie.’ I scoff at that, ready to call him on his bullsh!t. Who doesn’t believe in jealousy? Like it’s a thing he can just pretend doesn’t exist? Only, before I can get the words out, he leans in even closer to murmur into my ear. ‘Not when sharing is so much more fun.’”

listen, y’all, when it’s done right, i’m an RH girly to my mf CORE. i love it. i love a good MM and MF, too. (let’s never forget about FF!!) this was none of that and also all of that? going into this, i knew it was poly. and i was excited because i haven’t read many— if any— of those prior to this book. leigh miller holds a lot of firsts for me (she made me fall for an octopus? yeah..:… i need to unpack that later). i love her. but i’m not sure if poly romances are for me? or maybe it’s the way this one was displayed? i’m not sure. but it was also barely poly…. we got two scenes of them together sexually, but we didn’t get to SEE them actually together together, yk? we were just told about them as if it was remembered last minute they were meant to actually be in a relationship together, rather than just have wild threesomes (which, if that’s how you wanna market the book, there’s no problem with that because who doesn’t love those)

that being said, i am NOT judging this book based on my personal opinions on poly relationships in books and how they compare to other relationship dynamics i prefer to read about (rh goddddd)

as a book, this one just felt off. it felt rushed as hell and the plot was smut. like there was maybe one conflict throughout the whole thing but in two sentences, it was resolved. there wasn’t much…. anything in this book. and i love Rosie… but her dilemma was dumb. stay in this world where you have powers and feel like you could belong, or go back to the mundane world where you literally have nothing except an emotionally absent mom? like we should’ve gotten more insight into her “old” life if we were meant to care about it. the whole time she spoke about her conflicting thoughts i was literally thinking, like, “okay girl. shush. anyway 🙄” so, i guess if you want a simple break from reality or want to get in the festive spirit of halloween, maybe check this out!

based on Nora’s Kraken, (and even The Demon’s Bride) i think i was expecting something… that wasn’t given. maybe that’s my fault?

i will say, i LOVED how easy it was to tell Silas and Ren apart… you could tell they were different… beings immediately and i’ve seen many authors fall short where differentiating male characters is concerned.

TL;DR — it was fun, but after two books, i’ll forget about it.

i briefly saw this cover on someone's insta post and just HAD to pick it up because i love MMF romances, especially when their monster/paranormal, especially when it's a second chance vibe between the men. this was a fun and hot read, but i will say i wanted more throuple action (outside of the sex, like just being together all three on page) than we got. it was literally like the last few chapters. it wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad either.

⚠️: sexual content, death of parent, grief, emotional abuse, fire/fire injury
