I really like this book. I felt like the sex was so focus in this story when the story did not need it. It was a solid plot on its own.

Egne ord:

I have read Lucy before and really enjoyed her shorties, so when she asked me to review this novella, I jumped at the chance. In fact, she jumped straight to the top of my reading pile.

I went into this expecting to like it, but you know what, I loved it. Right from the first page I loved the heroine. She is just so likeable with her no nonsense approach to sex and relationships and the phone call from mum, berating her that she was never going to find a husband, lol.

Annalise is a travel writer. She flits around the world, writing about her destinations. A job she loves, but not one conducive to finding a husband, opportunities for hot, casual sex notwithstanding. I really liked that about Annalise. She owns her sexuality. Of course she wants to settle down and have kids one day, but in the meantime she is not afraid to enjoy herself, be that with hot men or her toys. There are quite a few masturbation scenes in this novella, beautifully written, I must add.

I think any woman who has been single for a while will really get those, lol.

Annalise is heading out to Portugal on business and even though she is an experienced traveller, the whole security check out palaver puts her on edge. To calm down she visits the book shop and there she encounters new employee Damien. Despite him not being her usual type, she is instantly drawn to the quiet, bookish, shy young man and they hit it off over coffee and muffins.

They talk so much that she almost misses the call for he gate. Once in Portugal she cannot get Damien out of he mind. So much so that despite opportunities to indulge in some light relief of the sexual kind, she can't go through with it. She tracks Damien down on Facebook and her inner turmoil at sending the friend request and then waiting for his answer is both heart warming and hysterical.

Damien is no alpha hero, but he is so damn sexy and adorable seen through her eyes, you cannot help but love him.

I laughed so much reading this book and nodded away in agreement. I even read hubby bits of it, much to his bemusement. The humour throughout this novella is simply fantastic, and something that is always present in Lucy's writing but she really outdid herself in this one.

If there is one criticism I have it's that at times the author gets lost in the small details. We all know how to make a coffee, for instance so all the minute details of 'she put the kettle on the way" etc. had me rolling my eyes in a good natured way, but it's no biggie really. And maybe I just wanted her to hurry up and get back to Damien and the good bits!

The sexual tension is portrayed beautifully and the actual sex scenes are hot, hot, hot. And humorous, perfect combo, really.

I shall leave you with one of my favourite lines from the book...

"It was incredibly cheesy, but she figured that if they were meant to be together, it wouldn't matter whether they went to bed on the first date or the hundredth. Except perhaps he'd end up with blue balls, and she with whatever the female equivalent was..."

See, what did I tell you, laugh out loud stuff! Read it, you won't be disappointed!

I have read a few of Lucy's books now and found she has such an easy reading style, she really knows people and how they think its just the little things that make her characters come to life and this book was no exception.
The book has a great start with a sexy hot scene of Annalise playing with her favourite rabbit; a girl after my own heart.
Annalise a travel writer accidentally meets the fun lovable Damian in a book shop and they chat over muffins and coffee. Her Mum, family and friends assume she would be single forever and had given up trying to fix her up with guys, where she suffered continual embarrassment and humiliation from blind dates etc. She had dreamed of someone who liked her for her, not just her body.

I was completely comfortable with Annalise she was so relateable and I adored Damian as he was my kinda guy fun, friendly not too flirty a real gent; embarrassed about little things. Most of all funny he made me laugh.
I thoroughly enjoyed this fast easy flowing read and at only 65 pages is perfect to grab some "me" time with. This is an adorable romance that ends in a super passionate sex scene built from the sexual tension that had been building beautifully throughout the story. I found Annalise so likeable it felt like I was watching a best friend having a romance with someone I knew; they felt so familiar. Lucy really brings these two characters to life making them completely real in your imagination; she adds the little things that we all do to make them familiar to us on print.. er...ok pixels.
The ending was expected for me but so very steamy, it was such a great sex scene as it was completely natural as these two were completely made for each other;I loved this novella. A wonderful romance story, quite vanilla but oh so very natural and sexy; another great read from Lucy felthouse.

I actually kind of loved this story, and I loved that a bookstore was Annalise’s stress relief (I can sympathize). Damien seems like such a sweet, sexy book nerd and Annalise seems half her age when faced with him. They best part is that they seem so normal. He’s not some ripped romance novel cover model, and she’s not some stick thing supermodel either.

The genuine attraction between them is innocent and builds periodically rather than being an instant shared lust. It’s a slow, sweet, realistic progression that had me swooning. I didn’t like Annalise’s attitude of just wanting to get laid while away regardless of her affection for someone else, but thankfully she gets over that quickly, and I grinned like a fool at the same time Annalise lets out a girly squeal as a simple message from Damien sowed the seeds of potential between them.

The bottom line here is that it’s a very relatable book. Two people meet, feel an instant chemistry as they find common interests, and decide to see where it can lead, despite their fears of screwing it up! Haven’t we all been there?

This was an adorable journey of two people exploring an attraction that could mean so much more for them. It’s like reliving your first love as a teenager, but with an adult edge. It’s a sweet, sizzlingly sexy, and thoroughly enjoyable read!

This story turned out to be a really fun read! It wasn’t overloaded on sexual content, but there was definitely enough to keep it interesting! I really enjoyed Annalise and had fun on her trip through this story. Damien is also quite the treat, and in more ways than one!

First of all, Annalise has the dream job of travel writer. I mean, who wouldn’t want to travel the whole world and do exciting things and write about them…. And get paid for it! Seriously, that alone gave her big bonus points. And then she meets Damien in the airport and he is shy and sweet, yet completely not shy about wanting to get to know her. Their initial meeting was very sweet, and definitely put her brain into Damien mode.

When you find that certain someone, you just know. They set you on fire, and the last thing you want is water to put it out. Even when you are confronted with sexy Portuguese men who would normally light another fire for you, you can only focus on the one your heart desires. And that really made this story, and Annalise, special.

Off the Shelf by Lucy Felthouse
Annalise is a busy woman with work. She travels around the world to write reviews therefore leaving no time for a social life. She is hounded by her family that she isn’t getting any younger and she needs to settle down. In one aspect she is living the fantasy life of going off to uncharted territory and having a fling with whom ever she desires.
Then she meets Damien. They are two kindred spirits. Now he is all she thinks about.
Can this work? Will this work out? The only way to find out is to read the book for your self. It’s a 73 page short story that is worth it. Lucy is a fabulous writer. She always manages to come up with some great characters and a wonderful story line.

Off The Shelf is just the right amount of sweet and naughty. Miss Felthouse has written a fun and sexy story that really proves that love works in funny ways, and can begin in the most normal of places.

I enjoyed this story very much and recommend it to anyone who likes a little saucy-ness with their romance.

Annalise is a free-lance reviewer that travels all over and writes up articles about her experience. Damien works at the bookstore at the airport and they are attracted to each other. If you are looking for a story about a woman that is constantly thinking about sex or where her next lay is, this is the book for you. Not my cup of tea but might work for others.

A sweet romance novella that focuses on the build up of the relationship before the actual deed. Very realistic, and the woman's role was refreshing in male-dominate fiction.

I'm not going to post a review on my blog since I rated this under a 3. I really really disappointed with the book. There wasn't much of a story and the smexy parts, weren't even that sexy. It was a really fast read, so I expected that they would get to the steamy parts a lot faster than they did. I really liked the male lead though. He's sexy and interesting. It wasn't a complete waste of time, but I can't say that I would recommend this one.

This is a fantastic, feel-good novella. Annalise is a well travelled, worldly woman who writes travel reviews. She meets Damien in a book shop (I'm smitten already) at the airport just before she jets off on her newest job. The attraction is instant but can it go anywhere? The characters are real and down to earth and the story gave me a warm, happy feeling inside. I didn't want it to end and thoroughly enjoyed this smashing tale.

I liked the interaction between Damien and Annalise.

The rest of the story is best described as erotic chick lit. It was almost a DNF for me, but I soldiered on because it was a short though I was alternately squicked and bored.
