DNF at 65%? I literally roamed through the pages afterwards.
Not a big fan of the prose; too dready and wordy. This book is short enough but took me too long to finish it. I'm on a minor reading slump which why I literally picked up anything at the moment, but this book didn't help me in this case.
4 Star review Mister Romance by Amelia Simone Amelia Simone is a new author to me and when time permits I will look at her other books. I found this an entertaining read and one that intrigued me when I read the blurb for Tamra Shaw and Chase Hoffman’s story.
Both Tamra and Chase have some issues and it was entertaining to watch them work through them to reach the happily ever after they both wanted. Tamara is determined to step outside her comfort zone and invites Chase to attend her brother’s wedding with her.
This was a well written story with characters that were easy to relate to and likeable. Mister Romance was at times an emotional roller coaster of a read. I also loved that the romance author of the story was male, it was a twist that you don’t often see.
At first I thought it was slow. Then it was like wow Chase and Tamra are both kinda awkward. And then Tamra is mean and a little delusional? She picks apart every little thing Chase says and does for flaws, catastrophizes it, and then discusses it in detail with other people- as a reason a relationship SHE IS NOT IN, won't last.
First she's mad he "lied" by having a pen name, and freaks about how now that she knows- she's lying too. And how that could be proof she can't trust him with her heart and body (They aren't dating)
Then he's 5 min late, and it's proof he doesn't care AND HOW COULD SHE TRUST HIM WITH HER HEART AND BODY (still not dating at this point, and when he apologized she brushed it off like no big deal)
He tries and fails to rip her underwear off and it's a sign he might not listen in bed and if that's true HOW CAN SHE TRUST HIM WITH HER BODY AND HEART.
The if he does x, HOW CAN I TRUST HIM WITH MY BODY AND HEART, got old fast. ESPECIALLY since they weren't dating.
I can only imagine Chase liked her, because he didn't hear all the shit about him she talked to her friends(and herself). Tamra is prosecutor and judge, but brings in friends, sisters and neighbors as jury to condone sentencing.
And. Ok. Chase gets... less realistic? He's not as developed- he's written to be a love interest and at fault for everything. Do I believe every time guys get together they have meaningful talks about their feelings? Uhmmmm ok sure maybe? But everyone kinda had the same voice, except Tamra.
Tamra seems genuinely mean and like she views herself as prize to be won. When she blocked him, I really wanted it to be a twist ending where he learns he needs to manage his time better, meets a nice woman and they all bump into each other happy now with other people.
Not that I want to read about the poor guy that's going to be judged every second of the day by Tamra.
Congratulations to anyone else that manages to read it all the way through
Such a relief to send it back to KindleUnlimited. Adios. Hasta nunca
This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last because I found Tamra Shaw and Chase Hoffman’s story an entertaining read that took me on an emotional roller coaster, it was well written, enjoyable and I will certainly be checking out her other works. Tamara and Chase are interesting characters they both have issues so it was a total surprise to have Tamara stepping out of her comfort zone and inviting Chase to her brother’s wedding. What follows is two people working through their issues together to find the happy ever after they both desired. This was an entertaining read mixed with some emotion, the characters were easy to love and their story was intriguing. It’s a story full of love with a hint of humour and I loved the setup of a male romance author finding true love for himself.
Tamra has been living her whole life not reaching out of her comfort zone. So when she turns thirty she is advised to finally reach out to her favourite author, try pole dancing and flirt a little. So when she reaches out to her favourite romance author she was not ready for the shock, he is a man using a feminine pen name.
Chase decides to explore Tamra as a person in hopes of writing her a main character in his new romance story. So when she becomes a bit more interested in him, he is afraid and tries to hide back in his cocoon. When he misses their date because he was in his writing zone, she decides she has had it with not being first to people in her life.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I hope it gets more attention.
I'm so excited for you to read Chase's story. It is book 1 of the Self-Made series, and Jimmy's swoon-worthy tale will follow later this spring. Grab your copy before it enters Kindle Unlimited in April.
Sneak Peek... “Sure, Gina. I’ll take a romantic risk. I’ll reach out to my favorite author, and I’ll take a dance class.” I ticked off a finger for every item on my list, like a pledge. Saddest. Pledge. Ever. She smiled in delight. “I can’t wait. I can feel it, Tamra. This is going to be your year to bloom. Trust your life coach.” I held back my groan. There was no backing out now. Life coach. At the time I was naïve enough to not dispute her claim. I knew Gina was teasing … mostly. Was it too late to trade her life coaching advice for a bottle of wine? It was a toss-up which would help me make better decisions.
Book Description He’s living a double life, and she’s vowed to get a life …
Tamra Shaw Every aspect of my life is drab. I need more than my nursing career. Nothing will change if I don’t. I’m determined to do it – three things that scare me: Reach out to my favorite romance author. Try pole dancing. Flirt a little. Nothing’s stopping me but me.
My brother’s wedding is the perfect opportunity to show everyone the new me. Now, to find a date…
Chase Hoffman The sultry siren masquerading as a practical nurse can’t fool me. Tamra is romantic lead material. Being her date to her brother’s wedding is a dream come true. Or my worst nightmare.
There’s a reason I live my life behind a keyboard. No one wants me running my mouth without preparation. Boobs. Aliens. You never know what might pop out. Me and my blundering mouth can keep it together for one tiny favor – right?
High heat and light-hearted fun abound in this friends to lovers romance. Mister Romance is book 1 of the Self-Made Series and can be read as a stand-alone or before Mister Marriage.
I really liked this book however, I ended up quite frustrated with the FMC in the end. I love a good “both parties have issues to work through, to build the relationship between themselves, then they identify and resolve their issues themselves then come together to give their relationship a good start”.
With this book I felt that the MMC was the only one we saw truly identify his problems and work to change them and the FMC didn’t really make any changes to get them back together so for that reason I ended up feeling the relationship was unbalanced (just my opinion but it did really affect my view of FMC).
Would definitely recommend this book to others as a I found it well written and good flow with characters, scenes and humour. This is my first time reading this author and I will read other novels in the future.
This is a new author to me, but I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. This is Tamra and Chase’s story, and what an amusing and intriguing tale this is. Tamra takes Chase to her brother’s wedding, and although they both have issues, they are engaging and relatable characters. This is a well written story which is sweet, light-hearted, fun, humorous, entertaining, and a steamy little gem of a story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
I hated this. I thought it was so stupid and found both characters unrelateable. I didn't understand the logic behind the decisions being made, such as claiming posting on Instagram as stepping out of your introverted shell. Like, really?
So, I tried to skip to the end to actually "finish" the book. I just couldn't. I cracked open the second to last chapter and the only thing I wanted to do was roll my eyes in frustration. I just can't with these two. It flatlined and a do not recitate order has been placed.
I enjoyed the story as it was a fun read. Tamra and Chase both tried stepping out of their comfort zones and found each other. I loved how they helped each other as friends and then more. The chemistry between them was quick and believable. They were able to support each other, and I recommend this story, well worth the read.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This story was so cute, funny and had me on an emotional rollercoaster. I was addicted to this story and totally invested from cover to cover. The only reason this story didn't get 5 Stars from me was because there were a few parts that I had to stop reading to question parts of the story. Other than that, this story was totally cute and fun to read.
A great story about a young woman finding her independence along with taking risks to step out of her comfort zone and grow. Very odd male character though, author that is totally awkward speaking words, must be great at writing them though! Imagine writing your own story and not be able to finish??
DNFd at 58%. I couldn’t do it, they both were so awkward it was making me uncomfortable. God knows how Chase is supposed to be a romance novelist because he cannot talk to a woman to save his life. It’s either he’s saying weird things or the wrong thing 90% of the time. And Tamra…..not as awkward as Chase but like all the over worrying and judgement was too much. I’m good on this series.
This is an average romance (I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could). Read in one evening and I'm not sure how fast I would have picked it back up if I didn't finish in one go. Loved the premise, but don't think I'll reread.
It was cute, but it really grated on me how much Tamra harped on Chase using a pen name, as if most romance authors DON'T use pen names. It's smart, not lying. It felt very unrealistic. No one worth anything is going to care, much less feel betrayed and lied to. Come on.
me estresó demasiado la dinámica de los dos, se entiende que tendrán un final feliz pero, en mi opinión, no debieron quedarse juntos al final, él necesitaba a alguien que si lo valorara lo suficiente y no se fuera por la mínima cosa
