Drake shattered my heart right before I was about to tell him I was pregnant.
I’d be silly to fall in love with him again.
Especially after not having seen him for five years.
But fate has an awful way of shaking you up and testing your willpower.
Turns out, Drake has a three-year-old daughter and I’m her new nanny.
He has no clue that the boy I carry in my arms is his own flesh and blood.
And yet, I roam the streets with him like we are a family.
We may have spent five years apart but the sparks between us are very much alive.
His arms around me as we shop for the holidays in the snow melts my heart.
If only I were an ice queen and could resist his charm…
Drake will find out my secret sooner or later.
FROSTY BEGINNINGS is part of the Alpha Billionaire series. These books can be enjoyed as standalones, or binged all together! Perfect for you if you can’t get enough single dads with an age gap, secret baby, small town, and Christmas themes!
3.5 stars ⭐️ Story okay. Mixed feeling about H. Widower with young child. Go back to his home town, where he meets his X, who also has a young son. Children are cute characters .
I had mixed feelings about this book. I really didn’t like Drake as a character or how he was with Kira. This book didn’t seem like Ava Gray’s typical work, and it really doesn’t come across as very romantic and it’s a stretch to call it a second chance romance.
Drake’s past interactions with Kira were focused on pushing her to continue her education. He conspired with her boss to arrange for a scholarship to an online degree program. Even though he was attracted to her he didn’t consider pursuing anything beyond a one night hookup because he knew his parents wouldn’t approve of her, but he told himself maybe in a few years after she’d finished college she’d meet his mother’s scrutiny and he could pursue her then. Ugh, this just felt icky to me. If he’s not strong enough to stand up to his parents for the person he’s attracted to then he just comes across as entirely weak and unworthy of Kira.
Their coincidental run-in years later was cordial at best and turned into a job offer for Kira to be a nanny to Drake’s three year old daughter Lona. Kira definitely developed feelings for his sweet little girl, Lona, but their interactions didn’t inspire longing or passion.
While this book really wasn’t one I enjoyed, what I didn’t like someone else may love. Give it a fair chance.

The male was truly self centered and a horrible human concerned more with what others say than getting to know the female he was attracted to. He couldn't hold a simple conversation with her without telling her to go to college. Drake insulted the female multiple times by basically calling her a ho. I really felt like he was only interested in Kira as a nanny with 'benefits' occasionally on his terms. He walked out easily without even a goodbye. Once she was out of sight, she was out of his mind and he was on to the next one. I wouldn't let my daughter date this one no matter how rich he was.
Absolutely no chemistry between the characters & the whole thing felt forced. Both characters were pretty unlikeable in their own way, especially the H. He got together with the h & then the next scene he met the mother of his child & completely forgot about her.

A beautiful Christmas story with a happily ever after.
Drake and Kira had met five years ago and they had fallen in love with each other. Drake knew his parents were snobs and wouldn’t accept her if she wasn’t educated. Just before the family moved back to New York City to run the company, Drake and Kira had a one night stand and she was pregnant. Drake wanted to pay for education so he set up a grant in which she completed her studies in Early Childhood Education. He met his wife when he went to the bank to set up the grant. He felt she would be the woman his parents would approve. But fate had another way in Drake’s life. On the night that Violet his wife went into labor, his parents were taking her to the hospital and his uncle drove him. It was an accident and everyone was killed except for him and his daughter was born. Three years later, Drake moved back to Millers Glen and when he saw Kira he felt he had to get her back. She became his nanny and he discovered she had a son. Through all their trials and tribulations, their love never died and he realized that her son was his son and they would finally become a family. On Christmas Day he proposed and Landon best friend was actually his sister. He was 5 and she was 3. Beautiful love story.

3.5 of 5 stars This story was entertaining, held my interest, and of course had the ending I was looking for. But there were some parts along the way that were kind of a letdown for me and unfortunately never really redeemed in my opinion by the time the story was over. For example, I didn’t like how quickly and easily Drake’s interest seemed to shift from Kira to another woman after the seemingly instant and intense connection they felt. Then he went off and built this whole other life without checking in on her once because he found a way to take care of the financial thing he agreed to, that she never asked for, so it seemed like he moved on without giving her a second thought. Then when he finally does return to the town they met and she’s still living there, it’s like that connection was never diminished or interrupted but for me it was disingenuous when I saw how quickly his head could be turned. His reaction to the secret Kira kept was the final nail in the coffin of any real likability for me regarding him. I could have accepted anger, hurt, frustration, or any displays of emotion that didn’t result in violence from him as a response to the revelations because even though he left her with no direct means of contact there were ways she could have gotten ahold of him, and she acknowledged that. What I can’t ever be ok with is him walking away even for a moment once he knew or even suspected the truth. Even if he didn’t think Kira deserved better, Landon, the innocent little boy stuck in the middle, did. That was the point in which he lost book boyfriend or hero of the story status regardless of what came next in my opinion. Kira on the other hand, while she certainly wasn’t without fault/flaws like the fact that she should have spoken up sooner, she more often than not to me seemed to just be handling the cards she’d been dealt in the best way she knew how. Yes, she could have been more forthcoming with information, but she never walked away from her responsibilities, and I would like to believe that if Drake had actually come back for her in those years in between, or even checked in on her, she wouldn’t have kept the truth from him. But as it stood, she did the best she could in a hard situation. I would be interested in checking out another book from this author as this was a first for me, but if her leading men continue having such irredeemable moments not sure I’ll get beyond one more even if the storyline itself is good and the leading ladies are likable.
SPOILERS!! BUT YOU REALLY READ THIS REVIEW!! WTF!! I have never hated a character in a billionaire romance as much as I hated Drake Shriver!! This man is a real Jack A--!! His family is rich and they live in a small town where he meets Kira a young woman who he decides to finance her college education. They date and finally they have boring dispassionate sex. He doesn't tell Kira he and his entire family and business are moving to New York. He just disappears out of her life the very next day. Of course, Kira is pregnant. She has his son Landon.
Fast Forward 5 years later Drake has returned to the small town with his 3-year-old daughter Lona. He is now a widower. He needs a nanny Kira needs a job. She has struggled taking care of her son for 5 years. She takes the job but doesn't tell Drake that Landon is his son. Landon bonds with his half-sister Lona, he protects her and plays with her reads to her. He adores her and she adores him. They are best friends but never know they are brother and sister Lona loves Landon too.
After weeks of being around Landon a child who looks just like him, he has NO feelings or caring for the child of the women he wants to date again. He does love his baby girl Lona. Drake has absolutely no interest or connection with Landon. When Drake finds out that Landon is his son. This SOB picks up his baby daughter and leaves, days before Christmas. He said he doesn't want to deal with Kira's secrets!! WTF man this cute loving little boy is your son!! Drake just leaves no goodbye nothing. Drake is totally devoid of any feelings for his son Landon. All I could think was Thank God Landon doesn't know this idiot piece of dung is his biological father!!
Drake returns on Christmas eve because Lona wants and misses Landon!! and Drake wants Kira. Doesn't even mention he wants to see his son Landon!!
Of Course, the dumb ass Kira takes him back!! Oh, Landon never finds out that Drake is his biological father. They decide to tell him later when he is older!!
Don't waste your time on reading this!! Normal people with children will get angry at how Landon is treated by his father!!
The story was okay. I couldn't really connect with the characters. The male lead came off as entitled and very judgemental. While he doesn't tell her out loud that she should watch how she ate (first "date") he thought about it in a not so polite way. While he makes excuses why he couldn't be serious with her, he definitely led her on. Then ghosted her after they hooked up. He never had any intentiona of being with her because of her station in life. She was not rich. No college degreee etc. He didnt want to date her because his family wouldnt accept her-but that didnt stop him from endless flirting and sleeping with her. Then, at one point he gets upset that she didn't show his daughter the same affection she showed to her son when she just started watching his daughter. I thought that was very odd. Usually these misconception type romances has an element of that person being special and unforgettable. Not here. He moved on so quick. Then there is the female lead..she has no back bone. She should have been very upset at how he left things, yet she just jumped back into his arms while he acted as if he never did her dirty. Those actions are never even addressed. He never apologizes for how he treated her back then. Then he gets mad about her not telling him that her son is his. He splits town again. His thoughts were huge red flags. He basically was ready to forget all about them... and that was with him knowing that he shares a son with her. It all ends in a happy ending though. The story was okay, it could have been so much better if he would have had to work for her forgiveness before being welcomed back into her life as if he hadn't disappeared on her the way he had. This book also has the "Alpha Billionaire" label in the title. I don't feel like the male lead lives up to that standard. He was a single dad learning struggling with balancing life and work. Nothing about him really screamed "alpha" to me.
This is a wonderful addition to the Alpha Billionaire Series, all standalone hot romance stories. In this one we get to see how Drake a wealthy man has feelings for Kira a young woman working in her small town flower shop. He meets her while visiting his friends flower shop and they flirt and get to know one another. Without Kira having all the details Drake comes up with a way to secretly fund her college education. Kira gets deeply involved in her school work and misses seeing Drake only to find out he left for the city without a word breaking her heart after spending an incredible night together. Drake moves on and finds Violet, marries and has a beautiful little girl only to have extreme losses. Fate brings these two back together and gives them a second chance at love who learn to be friends and lovers with secrets and past lives. When Drake finds out Kira has a little boy he’s surprised but still moves forward with hope. These two kids are so adorable with their interactions and bring such happiness and joy to all those around them. I really could not like Drake. He let his parents influence him and pushed Kira into doing what he wanted, it was all about him. He used her boss to set up a "scholarship fund" and then slept with her the night before he left town, whispering that it was a mistake. Shortly after he meets with a banker to set up the payment program for Kira, but doesn't want to admit to her, the banker that it's for someone he slept with. The banker checks all of the boxes for his "perfect" woman that his family will accept. He marries her and has a daughter. He moves back to Millers Glen and runs into Kira. He hires her as his nanny and is still treating her like she's stupid and not on his level. Then when he finally realizes that her son is his, he runs away again. He doesn't want to accept any of the blame for Kira not telling him when he never gave her his number in first place and what woman would want to tell him after his comment about sleeping together being a mistake? I love the kids, but they both deserved a better father and Kira deserved a better man.

I do not know where to begin. I read a book by Ava Gray before and liked it. However, this book I cannot say I like. I adored Landon. He was such an a likable and adorable kid. He was respectful and very helpful. Drake did NOT take blame for anything. When he realized that he had a son he still left. He did not even try to form a relationship with his son and mama sure didn't care. She kept saying she shouldn't have to do it right now. It's like it stayed his daughter is his and her son is hers... But occasionally he was his son🤦🏻♀️. He made it seem like his son was just a simple thought that could be pushed away. He could put it past him and leave him a secret if she wanted to not tell him. What parent does that? What mother allows their child to go through that as long as she had the man in bed. I only gave it 2 stars because I know she has potential with books.
Characters were a bit flat and underdeveloped. Personally, reading a romance you need to like the h&h, warm to them, root for them. These two were just cold and the lack of development left a lot of questions. Small town that they both grew up in, but didn't know each other or of each other. The age gap was never explained; if he was older, he wasn't very mature. His family were all moving to the city, again never really explained. They all die and the small town that they came from don't know? Seems to be something that Kira would have heard about. He doesn't have any friends, has had Lona for 3 yrs but doesnt know anything about looking after her, who did then? A lot of gaps in the basic storyline and in the characters, they didn't even seem to like each other that much (can't say I particularly liked either of them), but a happy ending was needed so all tied up in one paragraph.
Kira thought she had a chance at a relationship with Drake until he left her pregnant and alone after one night of passion. Fast forward five years and fate sees her taking the job of nanny to his daughter with him completely unaware that her son is his. Can these two take this second chance?
Kira is an intelligent, capable, strong willed woman used to taking care of herself. Drake threw away a chance at happiness because of his mother's attitude and his dependance on the family business.
It was frustrating to read the part of the story where Drake buckled under pressure but really wonderful when they were reunited. The simmering attraction was great and the family interactions leant reality to the story.
Be prepared to read this in one go as it's a real page turner.

I really try to find something redeeming in most of the books that I read but there are just some that come along that I absolutely cannot and this is one of them. I hated the characters in this book. Drake was an a**hole from the start. He was a jerk to her. I don’t get why she ever went out with him to begin with. Then he sleeps with her and leaves her and immediately falls in love with someone else., all while she is home pregnant with and raising his kid. Then he comes back and suddenly he is totally in love with her again but when he finds out the kid is his just leaves. Like he has no love for the kid. JERK. And her….I just didn’t get it. Didn’t feel the chemistry at all and she was so hot and cold and then not telling him about his son once he had been staying with them was also messed up. Just not a good duo. Everything was frosty about this one for me.
Kira met Drake when she worked at a flower shop. He was attracted to her but wanted her to get more education. She was raised by her aunt and just didn't have the funds. He decided to fund her education in secret. He went to her house for dinner, they slept together and then he moved to NY with his parents and uncle for business. He meets Violet, marries her and has a darling little girl. When he comes back to town with his daughter, he finds out Kira has a little boy - his, but he doesn't figure that out for awhile. The kids love each other and are thrilled when they find out they are brother and sister. That was very sweet. Drake's story in NY was sad but it brought him back to Kira.

I thought this book was really slow compared to Ava Gray’s book in this series. Drake who seems to be older but we really don’t know his age is very concerned about how his mother will react to Kira. She has been raised by her aunt after her mother has abandoned her and has no college education. She is struggling to earn a living for her and her aunt. Drake is attracted to her and wants to help her with her higher education. He is off to NYC with his family to run the business. Almost six years later Kira has had his son and he is now a widower with a daughter and has moved back to his hometown. She is hired now as his nanny and he realizes he still is attracted to her but she doesn’t reveal to him that he has a son. This has an HEA but it’s long in getting there.
I enjoyed Drake and Kira. A chance meeting turned romantic, but things were holding Drake back from turning this one night into something more. When they see each other again it’s been years and Kira has a secret of her own that she’s been keeping, but so does Drake, he has a daughter, Lona. They’ve both lived their lives separately, always remembering their time together and her son Landon is a daily reminder. Will Drake come to grips with what he thinks he knows about Kira and Landon? Will he pack up his daughter and head back to the city? I guess you’ll have to read to find out. I found this book on BookSprout.
Drake and Kira meet when he visits a friend, and have a one night before he leaves for New York the next day. Six years later he returns with a daughter and hires Kira to be her nanny, finding out she also has a son about the same age. The characters are believable with the backstories, steamy moments, entertaining situations and deep feelings. The storyline flows well with drama, revelations, forgiveness, protectiveness and acceptance. Loved their chemistry and determination to be what they want to be, aside from his family and their money grubbing power. Great ending.

Drake was in his small home town when he met Kira. Knowing his mom would not approve of her, Drake secretly set out to pay for Kira’s college education. He went to see her before leaving and ended up getting her pregnant but left the area before he found out. With no idea where Drake went she elected to raise her son and keep his paternity a secret. One day he was back and offered her a job as his nanny yo his daughter.without other options she accepted and old flames ignites. Good story and an easy read.

Frosty Beginnings is the twenty-first book in the Alpha Billionaire series. Ava Gray is a fairly "new to me" author, having only read a couple previous books by her, so I am still getting to know the author's writing and story-telling styles. I did enjoy this second chance romance with a secret child mixed in. There were a few issues that I had while reading so I think the book needs another visit to a good editor/proofreader to iron out a few things. I also wanted a bit more depth, as at times I was lacking this to feel the emotion that I thought the story was going for. Otherwise it was a nice and easy read.
From the beginning, Drake's treatment towards Kira was questionable and when he was back in town, there were times he was a jerk. Unfortunately, there's not much interaction showing the better side of him and when conflict arise his reaction was not good. Kira was fine but she when she was upset with Drake, her reaction wasn't mature. There were chapters of them being pouty to one another or just doing mundane things to avoid talking to solve their issues.

Drake and Kira's relationship starts off with uncertainty. They first meet at a flower shop but when an intimate evening followed by Drake leaving town leaves Kira with a parting gift she is devastated. They reconnect years later when Drake moves back to town with a daughter and asks Kira to be the nanny. This story has some interesting twists and turns that will have you connecting with Kira and Drake cheering them on to happiness. This is a small town story with well-to-do Drake meeting Kira a hard working poor girl just before he leaves for NYC to help run the family business. After a night of passion, he leaves Kira without a word and she is devastated and pregnant . Six years later, Drake has returned with a three year old daughter and Kira becomes her nanny. There is angst, miscommunication, rash decisions, and the coming together of a family meant to be.

What a wonderful story about two people who meet, yet come from very different financial backgrounds. Drake knows his mother well, very judgemental about those whom she doesn’t feel meet their level of stature. Sadly, leaving Drake with no other option to make the decision to leave, even though his heart will be left. Enjoy this story of unlikely events, sad happenings, with tragic consequences. Yet bringing about a future of possibilities, family without judgment, and all the love your heart desires.❤️
I want to say I really didn’t like Drake. He was wishy washy. The way he left Kira the first time and for the reasons he did was immature and cowardly. He didn’t waste any time getting with another woman either. I think Drake only cared about himself. When he sound about about Landon he made no effort to get to know his son. He did not bond with his first child at all. I didn’t like a few of the characters I thought they were cold. Wish this book had all the feels but it fell flat for me.
I must say, I wonder if Kira should have stayed frosty when it came to Drake. I had a difficult time liking him. He was too weak when it came to standing up for himself and the woman he supposedly loved.
Yes, they do get a second chance in the end, but still... he still didn't exactly warm up to the son he had with Kira.
Well written book, which is why I gave it four stars. It's just my personal opinion that Drake was unworthy.

I absolutely liked this book was hooked from the beginning until the end and the storyline flows throughout the book. Kira and Drake meet when they're younger and one night of passion ends up with Drake gone the next morning but when he shows up several years later who is going to be in shock? Good story and very enjoyable.
