Dirty Blood #5

The Broken Prince

I never should have saved her.

Harlow is smart and fierce, and I should have known that she would cross me. Now I'm a prisoner under the castle--and once her father returns I'm as good as dead. I've heard tales of the king's ferocity, and I know he'll burn me alive with just his stare.

But before he can kill me, I make a proposal. If he lets me live, I'll pledge the vampires to fight in this war. The Teeth are dangerous, whatever plans they have are even more dangerous. King Rolfe needs me alive--whether he likes it or not.

He spares my life--but I'm still a prisoner. The only person who can get me out of here is Harlow, so I ask her to pardon me. Whether she likes it or not, she owes me. I saved her from the teeth, so she needs to save me from this cell. If she doesn't...I'll die.

And then I feel it...the affection she tries so hard to hide. There's still something here, a fire between us that just won't die. She should hate me from what I've done to her...but she doesn't. Because she still wants me.

And I deeply, painfully still want her.

Ok one of my issues with this authors books is that the male characters enjoy the exact same type of sex? No foreplay, missionary, “fuck her like she’s a whore” sex??? And the “baby” nickname 🤮. Otherwise the adventure and action and dragons and stuff is fun. But my god, 8 different male characters throughout these books and they all have sex the exact same way?? The sex ed in this world needs some TLC fr fr

That was the most devastating cliffhanger ever. 😭 this is my second favorite of all the books so far. I love Aurelias and Harlow so much 😭 but also Huntley and Ivory too. The spice picked up in this one and was so good. The chemistry between Aurelias and Harlow is SO 👏🏼 FREAKING 👏🏼 GOOD. I dieeeee. Banter. Heat. Hurt/comfort. Just delicious. The new twist was intense and so good. I’m so sad thinking about the next one being the last. How on earth is this all resolving with one last book?! I know it will because Penelope is THAT good but still 🥹😭 I’m not ready for this to be over. This is my fourth wing. This is my fantasy. Nothing will ever hold a candle to the dirty blood series. Counting down the days to the conclusion of this phenomenal series.

Also thank you for the Fang appearances because I really freaking miss him ok? 😭🐍

I received and ARC copy, all opinions are my own.

"Her eyes were lit with the flames of her soul, And when she walked up to me, I couldn't focus on anything else."

Penelope's writing gets be every time 🥺 It's so beautiful and pure. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. Ugh those last few chapters were tough to get through😭.

I love Aurelias and Harlow together. It physically hurts to imagine falling in love with someone that you know will die years before you. That's the one downside of immortality. Having to watch the people you love age and die while you live. It's a common problem in fantasy/vampire books but it gets me every time. My heart hurts for them.

This book was very fast paced just like the others in the series. Things moved along quickly so I was never bored. I did need to reread the last few chapters of the previous book just to reorient myself with the characters and what was going on. This book picks up right where the last one ends.

We learn about new enemies, see relationships break and thrive, and get to interact with the dragons! I love them just as much as I love Fang. He even makes a brief appearance in this one which I was SO here for.

My favorite part of this book was watching Aurelias and Harlow's relationship transform and grow. It was so back and forth on his end. I wanted to smack him a few times and yell "JUST ADMIT YOU LOVE HER AND YOU'RE SCARED." It was difficult to watch him be cold to her knowing the way she feels about him although I was here for the drama😈

The smut was done well, just like in the other books. A mix of fade to black and detailed scenes. The smut added to the plot. The character growth was definitely there and the plot was entertaining. On to the final book in the series!!

I hate Ian. Scumbag.

And what kind of mother admits to having a favorite child? I can’t believe that woman told her son that she preferred his brother. That’s messed up.

Aurelias and Harlow

This is Book 5 in this fascinating series of vampires and their human lovers.
Book 4 was good and this book continues Aurelias who is Prince of the Originals vampires and his beautiful love interest Harlow. This book has so many layers to it. It has the King of this land trying to fight a war against hard to kill demons. And it also shows the difficulties Aurelias and Harlow will face if they try to stay together.
It’s a heartbreaking and action packed. I am now going to read the next book!

I like this storyline a little better than the first three, but Ian does not deserve his wife’s forgiveness. Penelope, your victim blaming is insaaaaaaane. No man would ever understand a miscarriage of a wanted child from a women’s perspective nor would he understand the physical and mental grief it caused regardless of age. A pregnancy is always the choice of the mothers, so him expecting her to terminate the pregnancy and growing resentful towards her when she did not want that then her having a miscarriage leading him to expect her to snap back after he lost her trust was a bad choice. It seems that this is not the first time you’ve used victim blaming in your writing unfortunately. You wrote him in a way that showed his love for his wife has limits and all of their relationship was on his terms and he gets a free pass because he blames he for “not trying” I found this part really gross and infuriating. He chose to willing cheat on his wife, period. No one forced him to do that. Going back to a healthy sex life after a miscarriage is hard enough as it is, but expecting one after you told your wife you didn’t want the child she desperately wanted after years of trying is awful. Of course she pushed him away, he broke her heart. Him constantly blaming his wife for him cheating and then expecting her to forgive him because he’s “really sorry” to the point of forcing her back into living with him since he hasn’t slept with anyone since he cheated and feels he’s been loyal ever since is called coercion. Him also getting his mother and brother involved in blaming her and telling her she needs to give Ian a second chance was also gross. Her leaving or staying in her marriage is up to no one but her, she is the victim in this. You can be remorseful and repentant of your actions without forcing the victim of your behavior to forgive you/give you an undeserved second chance

Another thing I haven’t liked about these books is the male love interests unwillingness to give up mortality for the women they claim to love more than life itself. I know the point is for them to be together forever, but ALL of the men have expected their love interest to give up their mortal life’s for them when they are not willing to do so in return,so it’s not all loving in my opinion. If you want this woman so bad one life time of love can be enough even if you want more. The “love” for the relationships seems conditional to the terms of the male characters.

I have enjoyed the series so far and I’m hopeful I will still enjoy the last book, but Ian’s storyline really irked me.

UGH.......I had high hopes for this series.

The males in this book are a bunch of whiny babies.

The pet-names are the same for everyone as well. I also find it creepy that the MMC will call FMC pet names that her father calls her. I just think it could be more creative.

The dialogue is repetitive. Its either I have to protect my family, I wasn't there to protect my family, or with the two MC why won't you feed on me/why wouldn't you turn me. Also the constant conversation that this is temporary.

With that being said the FMC continues to go back to the MMC. I get that they are at war, but they have the same conversation over and over.

The spice is the same scene over and over and over again. I know that I have read all the books back to back, but its the same scene multiple times in the same book between all the couples.

I will finish this series just because I want to see what happens. I'm not sure I will read the prequel series to this thought.

I’m at a loss for what to even say lmfao. The book in general is alright but I keep finding myself skimming or just straight up skipping the intimacy of the other characters not Harlow and aurelias. It’s like reading about my parents private moments and that gives me the ick so bad lol. Also I saw a person’s comment about how the sex is all the same and now I can’t un-realize it which makes the story disappointing like you and your partner don’t always use the position every single time! That’s unrealistic and insanely boring.

DNF. I really enjoyed the series but this one fell flat for me. I made it 75% and everything just felt tedious. With so many perspectives, I found that I didn’t really care about anyone. It was all just a blur of slowly progressing plot.

I’ll give this author another try when she releases another series as I enjoyed the beginning of this one!

I received my ARC and finished it in one sitting. I am writing this review with my true feelings of the content and author as I have in all her books!!!
This book will be out in a couple of days and the only reason I am getting this out late is because I had other duties to attend to.

I truly enjoy this crossover book ,it has been amazing to read about Huntley and Ivory again along with their children.
The Broken Prince is about the continuous story of Aurelias
and Harlow in her homeland!! Will the Prince and the Princess be able to follow the rules the King gave to Aurelias??
Ivory was able to convince Huntley to release the Vampire Prince before he left for Heartholme to check on the Teeth and what they were planing. When he arrived his brother took the journey with him.....what they found unnerved him,but he didn't get answers only more questions. When they returned
to Heartholme he had more disturbing news and headed back home.
Back in Delacroix Harlow pursued Aurelias, since her father was not around, but he was a Vampire who showed honor to his word. During the time the King was away something drastic happened which brought the two together but he still kept his word to the king.
You want to talk about monsters wait till you see what happens!!! We also experience a surprise!
This has so much going on that I was emotionally involved throughout the story.
Penelope is an amazing storyteller! You never know what is coming next, you can actually feel the emotions in every page she writes. I feel all the characters emotions (essentials) of the plot!! Brava once again PS/B

The demons in the book THREW ME FOR A LOOP! I’m so excited to see what happens with this. As always, Penelope has a way with words and the spice be SPICYYYYY!

My emotions are reeling. I'm trying to run so many different scenarios in my head on how will they win this war and if they do, at what cost. What's going to happen with Harlow and Aurelias? What's going to happen to any of the main characters with the next book??? I'm on the edge of my seat and needing to know what the answers will be. I'm so impatient. This is what Penelope's writing does to me. It has me on the edge of my seat, trying to figure everything out what will happen what will be next, and has me always wanting more and more and more.so happy we get to see how our other favorite characters are doing, as well. Ivory and Huntley - they still have the love and connection they had from the beginning. It's still strong as ever. Reading about them being parents and how they love their children and will protect them. A strong man like Huntley showing a softer side of him when it's about is children. Especially, his daughter. The father and daughter connection they have. He may have Harlow as his favorite but it still doesn't love his son any less. He shows his son love and affection and how proud he is of him.

Ian and Avice - I'm still in disbelief Ian cheated on his wife. I truly hope they can get past this and become the wonderful couple the were and should be. I feel for Ian but he did screw up in a big way. I couldn't say how I would move on, if I could or couldn't be forgiving and take the person back. I'm not sure I'm in agreement with Avice either, the way she was hurt by Ian's discretions, but it didn't take her much to replace him. If you're to be still in love with your husband, how can you move on with another just like that. It wasn't just a one time thing with Avice. It was her turning to another for a relationship. And, not just another man but one who works with your estranged husband closely. That to me is just wrong. Then again, many deal with hurt, tragedy, etc. in many ways. It's great to read about Ian's daughter and their relationship. It's not the same relationship or closeness that Huntley and Harlow have, but they're still close and love each other.

Ian to have somewhat a closer with his mother, it's hard to hear it out loud by her saying Huntley is her favorite. But it is great for her to show Ian that she does love, care and is proud of him. I know the way she shows out in the open on who's her favorite that anyone would notice it is hurtful and sad for Ian and Elora. All Ian truly wanted was for his mother to show him love and approval. It's a shame that it took her this long to express and show it. Especially, if things don't work out in their favor with the current war on their hands. Penelope always blows us out of the water with every book she writes! She never disappoints! 5 stars all the way

Wow, just wow!! ABSOLUTELY a must read!! Once you meet Aurelias, this broken prince will blow your mind! Loved every moment of this story… you will be completely addicted and captivated. The romance between Harlow and Aurelias will make you melt! Penelope Barsetti does an incredible job. This book was spectacular, and it will grab you from the very beginning. Get ready for this action packed, spice, betrayal, violence with suspense, mystery, tons of twists, turns and jolts when you read THE BROKEN PRINCE. Reading this kick-butt story had me speechless, and no amount of guessing could have prepared me for what went down. Penelope Barsetti in her usual manner blew my expeditions all to hell.

This is Aurelias and Harlow’s (Baby) bittersweet story. Aurelias is back in Delacroix under very different circumstances. As we found out, Aurelias is very sexy, really infuriating with his aloofness, coldness, stubbornness, very complex, possessive, indifferent toward relationships, but a honest and great warrior. “He could be the most affectionate and loving man I’d ever been with, but he could also be the coldest.” Harlow is a force to be reckoned with who is stubborn, feisty, sassy, and a beautiful woman who knows how to fight. Aurelias is attracted and drawn to Harlow like the proverbial moth to a flame. The relationship between Aurelias and Harlow is very complicated because they come from different worlds—human vs. vampire. Harlow’s father, King Huntley Rolfe, taught her how to defend herself as a warrior, to never trust and watch those around you, never yield, prepare for the enemy, and always be on guard with your heart.

All’s fair in love and war, but what happens when you are not prepared for a monster you don’t know how to fight? Aurelias will do whatever he needs to do to keep Harlow safe. Being defeated was not an option in his commitment to protect Harlow. “The only way to be prepared for the unknown is to be prepared for everything.” After an incident or skirmish happened, Aurelias is set on an unwavering quest to keep Harlow safe from the enemies. What happens next? Well, read this amazing story and find out. You are left with a cliffhanger—cursing that you have to wait until the next book to find out what happens next! Penelope Barsetti delivered a powerful, emotional, intense, and all-consuming story that left me obsessed and yearning for more. I can’t believe it ended so quickly! I NEED more!! I HIGHLY recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Can it be January already?

The Broken Prince ended and left us with so much tension and anxious to know more 😫

One thing I love about the books of Penelope it’s that she always going to share with us the pov from the principal characters and I appreciate that sm because I always wants to know what others are doing or thinking and this is key in the story 👀

But focusing on Harlow and Aurelias at the moment O.M.G, they really are everythinggg. Since we knew a little bit of Aurelias for the first time I wanted to know him more and god, he did not disappoint. When he’s in good humor and don’t think about much his feelings he’s the best IN ALL ASPECTS iykyk 👀 but if I were Harlow I must say I would snap because if a man it’s always saying we don’t have a future (which in their cause is true lol or well at least at the momen I want to believe…) I would cry and get all depressive but Harlow is such a brave woman🤩🤩🤩

Speaking of Harlow I just love know this is the daughter of Ivory and Huntley, she’s the best 💖 brave, good heart and so funny, she has been trough a lot and I feel the next book is going to play with my emotions more that this did it because we get to know a new enemy, one that honestly has me thinking day and night how they’re going to win 🥲 I don’t want to give anyone spoiler but I’ll just say they’re fire demons sooooo no dragons to our rescue this time 🫠. Yep our emotions are going to suffer but I’m ready to know how it’s going to be the relationship between Harlow and Aurelias🥹 I’ll just wait patiently until Clash of Kingdoms is release 💔

If for any reason you have a doubt about read this book since book 1 didn’t get to you enough I assure you this one it’s not going to disappoint you♥️

Penelope Barsetti has done it again with "The Broken Prince," the latest addition to her captivating world of dark fantasy romance. This book held me spellbound from start to finish, and I found myself unable to put it down until I reached the last page.
Like the 4th book, "The Forsaken Vampire," this book is a treasure trove of mystery, unexpected twists, and an intense connection between the main characters. The flames of passion burn bright as Aurelias and Harlow navigate a tumultuous relationship, creating moments that are both heartfelt and steamy.
One of Barsetti's exceptional talents is seamlessly intertwining different book series, allowing us to revisit characters from the past. It's like meeting old friends and learning how their lives have evolved. I absolutly loved reading about Kingsnake, Larisa, Cobra and Clara! I hope they will return in the next book as well. It was wonderful witnessing the brothers engage and observing their dynamic. And to read some chapters from Ian POV and getting to know his life with Avice a bit more was amazing!
The book is a true page-turner, with scenes that brim with tension and desire. The fiery connection between Harlow and Aurelias keeps you absolutley captivated. Aurelias is such a complex character, and as the story unfolds, we get to see more sides of him. His layers are peeled back throughout the book and we get a deeper understanding of his struggles.
Penelope Barsetti once again proves her prowess in creating a world that beckons readers, making it impossible to stay away. Her storytelling skills are unparalleled, drawing you in and holding you captive until the very end.
If you're yearning for an enchanting dark fantasy romance that transports you to another realm, "The Broken Prince" is a must-read. Prepare yourself for a treat, as Barsetti delivers a story that won't disappoint and will leave you eagerly awaiting the next book in her mesmerizing world.

“It doesn’t have to last forever for it to be worthwhile. It doesn’t have to be forever for me to care. It can just be a moment—because a moment is reason enough.”

This freakin man! Have you ever loved a series so much that you don’t even want to recommend it to friends because you’re afraid of your reaction if they don’t love it just as much? This is one of those for me. These books are such a fun, engaging, and spicy reads.. if you love faced paced story, modern dialogue with some ancient vampires, warrior princesses, mind whispering dragons and men who put their women first before anything else, these are for you!!!

There’s something about the heroes in this series, well let’s be honest all heroes in Penelope’s books, that sets them apart. They’re so brutally honest, unapologetic, and possessive and you can’t help but love them. I feel this pull with Aurelias and I just want more of him. Especially in this book, as much as I loved all the other POVs because Huntley is my original love… I wanted more of Aurelias. Besides the heroes, heroines like Harlow I live for. I love confident FMCs but sometimes too much confidence can be a bit much. It’s a fine line, yet these heroines never cross it. They’re strong, intelligent and can hold their own but they’re also vulnerable at times and I love that. Makes it easier to relate to them. This book was packed with action as usual, never a boring moment. I loved seeing Aurelias’ character grow and his feelings change with Harlow. His internal struggle is real. There’s a lot of buildup in this book to what I’m assuming will be something huge in the next one. Can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I felt like I waited a hundred years for this installment in the series to come out. I was in such suspense from the last one that I was dying to find out what would happen next! I must say that I was not disappointed! Aurelio was captive and prisoner, yet really if he wanted, could escape at any time. Seeing Aurelio developed more and more as a character over this series has been amazing. Penelope makes you truly dislike him when we are first introduced to him earlier in the series. I wondered how could we grow to love this callous, cruel and hateful character, but wow! The developing relationship, sexual chemistry and emotional attachment that grows between Aurelius and Harlow is intense! They fight it and fight it, but know there is more to it than they both choose to admit! I was frustrated for them both, and even cried for Harlow at one point in the story! They are both two very hardheaded and strong minded individuals that's for sure!

Every character in this story has depth and layers to why they are the way they are and it's always more than meets the eye. I love how there are also smaller relationships, quarrels and stories going on with other characters within the story. This book had so much going on and I didn't want it to end! The introduction of the new demonic villains, the battles, the new characters dwelling underground, and Huntley and Aurelius' new understanding and relationship all have me chewing my nails! The end was such a cliffhanger! I just kept reading and reading and then Penelope let us on edge having to wait for more! I can't wait to find out what happens in the next novel. I hate for it to end.

Aurelias has got to be the most complex of all the characters in this series. He is highly loyal and protective, yet his secrets are his own and he is very up front about his feelings. He is hard on himself when it comes to sharing it all and the readers still do not know the whole reason why.???

Harlow is a very determined and strong character. She loves with her whole being and doesn't care that in the end her heart will shatter into a million pieces. She wants Aurelias for however long she can have him for, even at the expense of her soul shattering.

Along with our main characters Aurelias and Harlow, we get a glimpse into the troubles and struggles of Harlow's parents and Uncle Ian and Aunt Avice. They truly have a lot of bumps in the road to overcome and I have faith that they will come out on top in the end.

This book has some new surprises thrown in with a new enemy. I am a bit worried how our characters will fair when the war is said and done. Will help arrive in time to save them? Will they find a way to destroy what is indestructible? This series truly can end in either way.

This book was an emotional roller coaster as all of our characters struggle throughout the story emotionally. A new enemy creates havoc and Harlow struggles with obtaining all of Aurelias. How will the emotional read end. I just can't say, but with out a doubt it will not be a pleasant journey and someone is going to be shattered.

Patiently waiting the continuation....

A war is coming!

As the saga continues, Aurelias and Harlow are growing deeper in their feelings. As much as they want to fight it and say it’s temporary the pull is strong.

Aurelias has found himself in a war he did not intend to fight. Harlow’s kingdom in being attacked by some unknown creatures. They are nothing like Aurelias has ever seen. Harlow’s kingdom is attacked while her father, King Rolfe, is away trying to figure out what these creatures are. Aurelias steps up and protects Queen Ivory, Harlow and their kingdom. His brothers show up and help as well.

When the opportunity arises that Aurelias can leave and go home he chooses to stay and fight for Harlow’s kingdom. He told King Rolfe the he will give his life to protect Harlow. He has asked his brothers to go back to their father and ask for the vampire army to come aid them in this war. He knows the humans won’t survive.

Aurelias has earned the respect of the king. But will he be able to help them win this war that is coming? Will his brothers bring the vampire army in time? Will the love Harlow and Aurelias have for one another survive? Read these books!!! You will bee hooked.

Penelope Barsetti has done an outstanding job bringing us into her world of dark fantasy romance. Her stories are captivating. Cannot wait for the final book in this series.

Part of the series seems to become more modern as it goes. The word choice in this story in comparison to King snake and Larissa definitely seems as if I am reading a completely different story. The sxx scenes leave much to be desired as others have mentioned (everyone screws the same). I think that focusing on Harlows parents and aunt and uncles relationship really killed the vibe of this story for me. We don’t need the sxx scenes or excessive confrontation scenes. I felt it only took away from the story. We could’ve had more focus on Harlows brother and built him a relationship instead of Ian and his wife.

About Ian and his wife, their whole story was not well done. The victim blaming and lack of empathy around child loss was very callous and left much to be desired. The abrupt way in which all of a sudden he was forgiven just didn’t sit right after he manipulated his wife. It was all very narcissistic. Not a fan and could’ve been left out.

Overall I’d say a 2.7, I loved King Snake and Larissa’s story, and cobra’s too. This just was poorly done IMO. It felt very rushed and left much to be desired in how sensitive topics should be addressed. The speech choice of the characters to now use more modern language also took away from the book for me. Going to hope the next one is better.

Love it!! And It never takes me this long to read a Penelope book EVER!!!! but due to being an adult and having to work!!! Anyway I’m glad I snail paced through it because I really got to enjoy and think about where Ms. Barsetti’s head is at with the story.

We begin with the deception and how Harlow was taken as a fool when she thought her rescuer was trustworthy.

So Aurelias’s cover is blown and more he must decide if this was for the best and if his feelings are real. Saving the princess and her kingdom were not in his plans.

Huntley has blinders on when it comes to those he loves and the protection of his community of Delacroix. All may be ripped apart if alliances aren’t made and new journeys to the unknown to uncover new enemies that could take it all away.

While kingdoms merge to prepare for the fight of death, all rely on the help of new encounters as Harlow and Aurelias truly begin to understand each other or do they???

Ugh that ending,, seriously have so many questions, Ms. Penelope knows how to lure her devoted fans to keep coming back for more , it’s never enough

This series gets better with each book.

The Broken Prince has so much happening throughout that it had me nervous for what was going to happen next.

Aurelias has been locked up for taking Harlow, which was her decision not her father's. When she realises it was a mistake, her father won't let her release him.
Ivory is the one who gets through to Huntley, who then gives Aurelias his freedom on the condition that he helps in their upcoming battle and while he is away in Heartholme he keeps his distance from Harlow - will Aurelias keep his word?

Huntley and Ian are on a quest to see what is to the east. What they find is shocking and slightly frightening. What they find out when they get back to Heartholme is even more traumatic for them both.

A gripping, action packed, emotional rollercoaster of a read. With jaw dropping shocks, unexpected twists and intense connections. This is a dark fantasy romance world like no other.

With only one book left in the series, I'm left wondering how Ms Barsetti is going to finish it.

I'm really loving this world, I'm hoping there is more to come.

Unique Vampire Lore and Fantastic World-Building

Amazing conclusion to a fantastic series. I don't know how I haven't heard more about this series. If you see this review, please read it and then we can hype it up. 😁

Semi-spoilers ahead:

If you're like me and afraid to read this series because you only like HEA and couldn't tell if this would be, read this. You'll cry before the end and may not get the romantacy "traditional" ending, but it's the perfect storyline for this couple. Also, I thought I was going to be disappointed to have to read three books on Aurelias after Kingsnake and Cobra, but *chef's kiss* what a delight Aurelias and Harlow's story ended up being.

Also, I didn't originally realize that Ivory and Huntley had their own story written first, so if you haven't read any of the Dirty Blood books, you may want to check those out first but you won't have to.

Also @PenelopeBarsetti, not only do I need my Viper spinoff, I'm going to need a cozy FangxBeast short story. Her hatchlings are grown and she travels to the other continent for a favor from the vampires or something, Idk. 😅

True love lives forever… and yet time is finite

Aaawwww… that’s all I can think of to say at this point because I’m gutted that there appears to be no compromise to Aurelias and Harlow’s situation. They have a love so deep and profound that it deserves to last forever, but unfortunately forever only belongs to one of them.

Aurelias is so unwilling to make Harlow an immortal like him, not just because of her father’s decree, but because he cannot find it in his heart to deny her everything that he can no longer have. He feels it a cruelty to expect her to give up the possibility of children and a soul. A touching sentiment, but sadly that means that both will end up with a broken heart.

As for the other relationships within this series - Huntley and Ivory and Ian and Avice, both are being thoroughly tested. One through the pain of being unable to protect their Queen, the other from breaking his wife’s heart. It’s a complicated but compassionate tale of love despite hardship.

Really enjoying this series. Will they be victorious against a seemingly indestructible foe? It’s looking a little bit dodgy.

I swear I think I consume these books. I’m surprised I retain anything when I read Penelope’s books. The only reason I couldn’t read it in a day was because I had something to do but once I sat down I didn’t get up.
I try to keep my reviews vague because I don’t ever want to spoil anything for others. Just know that this book is just as good as the others! *chefs kiss*
I love the flow of this series and I love that you still see characters from other parts of her books. Or that the characters and different series all somehow intertwine and they can all interact. That’s something I personally enjoy.
Reading this has made me fall back on my coursework and I don’t mind one bit! All I’m saying is READ. THIS. BOOK. I’m just glad that we have at least one more to go! Love the relationship from the father/daughter, you can tell they love each other while seeing a romantic relationship evolve with the other character that she shouldn’t fall for because her dad will want to kill him but we know it happens anyway.
Love, love, love! Now it’s just time to read the third!
