(Read as part of free anthology Mistletoe, Mulled Wine, and Maybe a Duke)

“I am yours forever, and I give myself freely. You came here to destroy yourself, but my lovely Charlise, you have destroyed me.”

I might have been in just the perfect mood (Holiday season is no joke) for this novella, because it floored me how wonderful it was!

Charlise and Sinclair’s romance was bittersweet, angsty, lovely, and beautifully sexy. The chemistry between them was electrifying, gorgeous, and the love they felt for each other tinged with some quiet sadness that only made it so much sweeter.

I cried for Charlise and with her, with Sinclaire.

I loved how honest she was about her pain; about being so deeply hurt by people closest to her, and how Sinclaire was there for her. How he, despite his own trauma, allowed Charlise to feel free, to be selfish – even if only for a night.

I hated heroine’s father, who (probably still affected by grief) never allowed his older daughter any grace. How, maybe unintentionally, he pitted the sisters again each other, clearly more dotting on the youngest.

It created some tension between them, and I loved the author didn’t shy away from making Elise feel some resentment towards her older sister, after Charlise

Oh, Sinclair, I so enjoyed him as a hero. He was charming, but also somewhat sad. An outsider, not only because of his birthplace or social status, but his interest in trade. His journey of founding his purpose, of proving himself was very moving, and interesting.

And, oh my, he had a way with words. His love confession to Charlise was so incredibly romantic.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed this novella; Alivia Fleur is a new author to me and reading this story was such a wonderful introduction to her works. I’ll be keeping a close eye on her upcoming works.

A Song and a Snowflake is a prequel novella to Alivia's ongoing Honeysuckle Street series. Like all her writing, it has a beautiful simplicity to it - but at the same time it's layered and complex... like a decadent dessert crafted from only a few high-quality, in-season ingredients that all have incredible depth of flavor in their own right... and complement each other perfectly.

Speaking of flavor, this book knocked me out in it's sensuality. The hero is a cordial maker, which may not sound very sexy, but when it brings our MCs into a steamy kitchen, tasting ingredients (and each other), I think you'll agree that cordial making is a very good occupation indeed. Aliva masterfully contrasts the steamy sweet cordial motif with the feather light kisses of falling snow to create an unforgettable sensual experience.

Oh, and one more thing. The steamy scenes. I love Alivia's steamy scenes (hello? The Portrait Sitting?), but this book has my absolute favorite scene. It's just... perfect. 🔥❤️🔥

This was a quick, steamy Christmas novella read with a different sort of plotline from many Christmas-themed titles. While I enjoyed the writing style, some of the sentence structure is a touch long-winded. I liken it to a bit like Victoria Alexander can be a touch wordy. There are some really beautiful phrasing and lovely descriptive writing through the title, and I found myself highlighting many passages.

I found myself interested in many of the side characters and felt like this title was doing a great job of setting readers up for the following titles in the series. I'm interested in reading other titles in this series in the future!

Unfortunately, some of the storyline just didn't work super well for me, personally. I thought I could look past the fact that Charlise is engaged because the Baron is a wicked character. However, Charlise's actions, without giving spoilers, were pretty unforgivable in my book. I do understand why she felt she had no other choice, though, and was blinded by love. Sinclair and Charlise do have a sweet, steamy romance readers will enjoy that I found unique. The title ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, which some readers may not enjoy. I didn't mind because it has me interested in the series now!

As for steam, the scenes vary in length and feel. Fleur does not use a ton of explicit language and uses mostly alluded to or non-explicit slang terms.

A Song and a Snowflake is a prequel novella for the Honeysuckle Street Series and available free to Alivia Fleur’s newsletter subscribers. It is a lovely, steamy, and emotional story about two lost souls who find each other at the wrong time. Charlise Hartright is about to marry a baron she doesn’t love to redeem her ruined reputation so that her younger sister has a chance for a good match. Unexpectedly, she meets Sinclair McIntyre, an Australian who’s just arrived in England and looking to make his own name in the world away from his family. What follows is the story of Charlise and Sinclair’s instant attraction, unique bond and the redemption they find in each other.

I love Fleur’s lyrical writing style and the sensory details she uses to build this story. The two main characters each have a talent that Fleur uses to express who they are and what they can create together. The steamy scenes are well done and work to show the relationship between Sinclair and Charlise. The one in the kitchen was a standout that helps to highlight how right these characters are together. Despite the novella format, Fleur packs in lots of details that help to build the world of Honeysuckle Street that surrounds the main couple. The emotion and angst are nicely balanced with the joys of new love. The ending is unique and clearly sets up the series to follow. A wonderful read, and I highly recommend!

Yeah, give me a man in the kitchen who knows what he’s doing with the ingredients and his just-off-the-ship bod and I’m hooked, and so is Charlise.

But I don’t want to reduce Sinclair to a kitchen thirst trap. Fleur has given us a decent hero, and by that I don’t mean mediocre. He’s a good man. Integrity aplenty, and that integrity guides him. Indeed, Fleur lets that integrity be the guiding light of the book.

Sinclair’s also got an optimism that translates into that kind of gentle charisma you sense from people who are comfortable with the world around them, who know how they’re going to forge their paths, who are open to the people they meet along that path. Fortunately for him and Charlise and the reader, he happens to find himself in the rather nice world of Honeysuckle Street. But you kind of know he’d do well anywhere.

Charlise is a contrast. I like to think she’s an idealist who’s stuck in a far-less-than-ideal situation, which has given her a case of the “what else can I dos?” She’s so stuck, yet you sense the idealist in the way she lets herself be drawn to Sinclair. She knows there’s better for her, but she might just skate around the *better* out of a sense of obligation. (You have to read the book for the skating.)

Sinclair and Charlise are the perfect recipe for a romance.

I highly recommend this novella.

Sometimes seven days on Honeysuckle Street is enough to change an entire lifetime…

Born from the right blood, just not those that inherited titles, Charlise Hartright had been ruined as a young girl, and now, for her sister’s sake, she had accepted to marry a cold and calculated baron. There she stood singing carols in a park with her friends. Seven days until her wedding, like a beautiful songbird about to have her wings clipped, when a solitary snowflake landed on his shoulder…

Tired from always being second to his father and his brothers, Sinclair McIntyre ran halfway across the world with hopes of making a name for himself. A week before Christmas, he found himself alone and with nowhere to stay in cold and murky London, watching carolers in a park. He was mesmerized. It was almost as if she were singing just for him.…

Until a sulky on the loose barreled down the park, and in the blink of an eye, everything changed.

📚 A tale so pure, so incandescently beautiful it had me feeling everything. I'm always in awe of how Alivia Fleur's deceptively simple stories touch me to the core.
They met by accident. Two people lonely amidst their kin, yearning to be loved for who they were. A fast and steamy friends to lovers, destined for each other, with heartbreaking humanity, honest desire and just that sprinkling of Christmas magic. Simply perfect! 🎄💖💫

The more I loved a book-the more difficult it is to come up with a coherent review- other than, "I wept, I cried, it was SO GOOD, Ahhhhh!"

This book was THAT GOOD. Charlise was going to marry a rich turd of a man in an arranged marriage. She is all that is beautiful, kindness and light. Sinclair just got off of a ship from Australia. He is trying to make it in trade and be his own man. He has a very large heart, is sensitive, possesses empathy and loves animals.

They become very close in a short amount of time and she realizes that she doesn't want to follow the rules. She wants to follow her heart.

There's a part in the story when she's about to walk down the isle to marry the turd and time slows down and she has to make the decision. It reminded me of the movie Bridges of Madison County when Meryl Streep is in a car and she's got her hand on the door knob she's about to make her decision.

Anyway, Charlise grabs her skirt in her fist and starts running. Good lord, I was crying. GOOD FOR HER!!

What a delightful novella from Alivia Fleur! I fell under the spell of her beautiful prose at once and found myself re-reading so many intoxicating, sensory lines. I was instantly intrigued by Charlise and Sinclair, both individually and as a couple. Charlise is a complex character forced into a situation she knows will bring nothing but pain, and her longing to break free practically oozed off the page. And Sinclair--an Australian and a cordial maker determined to make his way in the world?! Such a fun, unique combo, and a great contribution to HistRom! A couple other things I loved: the choir, Charlise's loving, protective relationship with her sister, and the many glimpses of curious characters on Honeysuckle Street! It was a true delight, and I can't wait to read more!

This book was part of Anthology - Mistletoe, Mulled Wine and maybe a Duke.
The story is about Charlise who has been betrothed to a Baron by her father to save their family name. The Baron is an unpleasant and demanding man who only wants Charlise for her dowry.
She meets Sinclair, an Australian cordial maker who is running from his family to make his own way in London. They meet and are instantly attracted to each other, even though Sinclair is unaware of Charlise being betrothed.
I found this book to be rather boring and nearly didn't finish. I preferred Sinclair out of the two main characters, I did not particularly like Charlise. The story ends in a cliffhanger as it is a prequel. This is a steamy read.

Intriguing happenings on Honeysuckle Street

A lovely cozy romance between hard working man with a plan for his future and the woman he meets who is trapped by societies rules and family obligations. This novella is fast paced and wonderfully written. The Main characters, Sinclair, the (H), and Charlise the (h), a ruined young woman, meet and it's instant attraction. This is a sweet, yet steamy novella that keeps you reading to the very end. I enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

This was such a sweet, lovely, slightly spicy little novella and it has made me so excited to explore Alivia Fleur’s work further.

I love historical romance so much and I loved the picture painted with this one.

Charlise is such a likeable character. She’s just doing her best and her situation made me so sad for her.

Sinclair was suuuuch a swoon-worthy character. He’s spontaneous and oozing charm, but he’s also soft and safe as well.

I loved how this one ended for them and I can’t wait to continue the series.

This one comes free when you sign up for Alivia’s newsletter, so jump on that!

❄️Book Review❄️

This is a series prequel and I think this story did a great job setting up for the Honeysuckle Street series. The first scandal that sets it all up! It was lovely to read an Australian character that was so authentic and real. I loved the way the MMC opened something up in the FMC. It was beautiful to read. Lovely sweet read (but no dentist appointment needed). Can't wait to read the next in the series.

😍😍😍😍 (Out of 5)

Big thanks to Alivia Fleur for this free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This short yet delightfully sweet story introducing us to Charlise and Sinclair. It began as a bleak outlook of a supposed beginning of a new life for Charlise. But after meeting Sinclair, her world blossomed open to a whole new beautiful option for life. I really enjoyed this inspirational romance, which includes a touch of steam that also shows how true love can make life a happy place to be a part of. I highly recommend reading!

This is a heartwarming story with a little bit of 🔥🔥. Alicia does a really good job of keeping us invested in the plot. I was disappointed with the ending it kinda feels like a cliffhanger 😞. It would have been nice to have more of their story and also we are left wondering what happens to her sister Elise. R. K. Carulli

A steamy short story, read in the Mistletoe, Mulled Wine & maybe a Duke anthology. A ruined lady who sings in an ensemble run by her aunt meets a cordial worker who has returned to England from Australia, but is betrothed to a baron. To be honest I didn’t know what to make of it. It just did not work for me.

This was … Sad. Depressing. Frustrating.

It was also lyrical, sensual, hopeful. Feelings, smells, tastes, memories, feelings all blurred in a wonderful way.

In the end, with Sinclair’s help, Charlise breaks free of the grief and fear that have plagued her family since her mother’s death, and I suspect in doing so, frees them all. Definitely worth all the angst for the happy ending.

Very unique story and characters. Didn’t feel rushed beyond being a whirlwind romance which is acknowledged by the characters themselves. Would have loved to have seen more of the end, to see them finally happy and courting for a bit before we went back to Honeysuckle Street.

Very intrigued to read more from Alivia Fleur to see if she keeps surprising me.

I hope we get Elise’s story soon!

What a great spicy little winter novella. I love historical fiction, and this was right up my genre alley. Although it's a sequel, I hadn't read the first, and it did well as a stand-alone book because I didn't feel like I missed anything. Alivia is a great writer! I can't wait to read more of her work.

Charlise is about to marry a man she feels nothing except maybe dislike for to restore her family name and protect her sister. One night while caroling with her aunt and sister she see's Sinclair standing under a lamp post watching her and can't seem to get him out of her head.
Sinclair has run away from his family's home in Australia to make his own way in the world making cordials, he arrives with no plan and just trips over good fortune meeting Charlise and finding a place to stay...
Not my fave of the authors novellas but this one seemed to have a bit more angst behind it than the others giving the characters a bit more depth which was nice.

I absolutely loved A Song and a Snowflake. It is such a sweet and cozy novella, a little somber at times with the FMC's loss of a parent and the MMC's separation from his family, but none of this is heavy enough to dampen the story, or the chemistry between the two leads. If anything, their mutual struggles seem to strengthen the pull between them, making their romance all the more poignant and special. A truly lovely (and deliciously steamy) holiday story!
