Demon Days, Vampire Nights [Dramatized Adaptation] #7

Warrior Fae Trapped [Dramatized Adaptation]

Rate this book
The truce between the vampires and the shifters is long over. So when the two factions stumble upon a lost fae warrior who has no idea what she is, all hell breaks loose.

Charity hasn't had it easy. Growing up in a bad part of Chicago, left by her mother at sixteen, she's a survivor. So when she gets a scholarship to a good college out in California, she thinks all her dreams have come true.

Instead, she falls head-first into a nightmare.

At a posh party she doesn't belong, she gets the shock of her life: vampires and shifters are real! Magic is real. And she is anything but a mundane poor kid just trying to make it.

Warrior runs in her blood. If only she knew how to use it.

Suddenly she is trapped between two magical superpowers - a cunning elder vampire who wishes to use her for her blood ties and maybe tie her to the bed, and a sexy alpha shifter who will protect her at all costs. Her life of surviving could've never prepared her for this. And if she doesn't learn to harness the fae magic running through her blood, she'll be imprisoned forever.

I was afraid after the Natural Witch/Mage/Dual Mage trilogy that ai would be so disappointed in this one, but I absolutely loved this one. I did take off a half a star because the FMC was irrational with her anger at times and it did irritate after a while.

Oh, this one was fun. I enjoyed Charity's personality so much more than Penny's. With Penny, I kept hoping one of the mages would take her out, she grated on me until the tail end of her third book. Charity, on the other hand, was ballsy and fun. I even liked her a bit more than Reagan.
As for Devon, both him and Charity have chips on their shoulders, and the occasional anger management issues, but I love it when the MCs kick each other's butts.
This isn’t enemies to lovers, but more like: “I hate you.” “I hate you too.” Kiss me.
The story itself was fast-paced and the mystery of Charity's background is interesting. I look forward to listening to the next book to see what chaos she stirs up.

I was SOOO disappointed in the writing of this book; it was clumsy and ham-fisted compared to the others in this series. I will continue because I'm invested in the characters and the over-arching plot, but I sure hope Breene gets her groove back.

Basic plot: After being dragged to a party by her roommate, Charity discovers a previously unknown world of magic and that she has a place in it.

At first, the tie-in to the previous trilogies in this series wasn't obvious to me, but then I realized Devin had appeared before, and all the connections fell into place. I liked this one. Charity's fighting skills are explained on several levels. Devin is a dick, but he has moments. I hope he grows up a bit. There was a heavy emphasis in this book on how young the characters are, so they all have room for growth. Devin's pack made me smile, at least in part because they reminded me a lot of my own college group of friends.

Overall, a fun ride. I didn't want to put it down.

Not my favorite in this series. This story felt rushed and I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Charity and Devon.
