Cinderella meets THE CRUEL PRINCE in this stand-alone fantasy romance about a human girl and her marriage to the prince of the fae.
She knew her hand in marriage would be sold. She had no idea a fae prince was the buyer.
Katria swore she'd never fall in love. She's seen what "love" means through the cruelty of her family. So when she's married off to the mysterious Lord Fenwood for a handsome price, all Katria wants is a better life than the one she's leaving. Feelings are off the table.
But her new husband makes not falling in love difficult.
As their attraction begins to grow, so too do the oddities within her new life: strange rules, screams in the night, and attacks by fae that Katria never thought were real. When she witnesses a ritual not meant for human eyes, Katria finds herself spirited away to the land of Midscape.
Surviving the fae wilds as a human is hard enough. Katria must survive as a human who accidently pilfered the magic of ancient kings - magic a bloodthirsty king is ready to kill her for in order to keep his stolen throne - and her new husband is the rightful heir in hiding.
The power to save the fae is in her hands. But who will save her from a love she vowed never to feel?
A Dance with the Fae Prince is a complete, *stand-alone dramatized audiobook*, inspired by the tales of Psyche and Eros, as well as Cinderella, with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for romantic fantasy readers who enjoyed of A Court of Silver Flames and An Enchantment of Ravens. A Dance with the Fae Prince features a slow-burn romance, swoon-worthy couple, and steaminess that ranges from simmering to sizzling.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as A Deal With The Elf King but it was still a fun read. I loved the Eros/Psyche dynamic and wish it has lasted a little longer since that felt so exciting to me. But honestly, I just couldn’t get behind the romance of these too. Katria wasn’t interesting to me (I’m so sorry) and Davien was an entitled ass. I didn’t see the chemistry and they just didn’t vibe with me. Did I still gobble this book up to finish it? Absolutely. ALSO that chapter where he was DIRTY TALKING BAE had me squealing. Good job. This series is simple and isn’t ground breaking but it puts me in a happy place and that’s great.
I love so much the audiobooks produced by GraphicAudio , they're perfection. The story is about a human girl that doesn't trust in people because she'd been mistreated by her stepmother and stepsister, until she was forced to marry a stranger. And the adventure in the quest for power, love and self discovery begins.
Dance with the Fae Prince in the Married to Magic series.
Katria’s parents are dead/missing. She lives with her mean stepmother, mean stepsister and innocent half-sister until Joyce decides to marry her off. A mysterious Lord Fenwood offers to pay 4000 pieces for Katria and accept a book for dowry.
Lord Fenwood is not what Katria imagined. He doesn’t let her see him, he has rules and weird sounds are heard in the night… but he is kind to her and offers what she needs. He even rescued her when a fae attacked. One day he leaves a note bequeath his earthly possessions to her with no explanation. She enters the forbidden forest to find answers and witnesses faes performing a ritual and burning the precious book, her true mother’s book and her husband- Lord Fenwood’s book. She lunges into the fire for the book, when she awakes she is surrounded by angry faes and apparently she has powers. Among the angry fae is her husband, and he wants the powers she stole, the powers that will allow him to become the Fae King….
The GraphicAudio production of this title stars Laura C Harris as Katria, Gabriel Michael as Prince Davien, David Cui Cui as Giles, Robb Moreira as Raph, Nickolette Kong as Shaye, David Engel as Oren and others. I found Katria’s internal dialogue very robotic but her spoken dialogue normal. When I say robotic, it’s like Siri or Alexa with tonations off. There is only Katria’s POV, so most of the audiobook sounds robotic. The performance of the other characters are perfect. I did not find a normal unabridged audiobook, so this is the version I listened to. The quality of Katria’s internal dialogue does not improve with speed. The soundscape is great but the intimate scenes are cringy like ACOTAR.
The writing is not very elegant, kinda lazy like how I write my reviews/summaries. Maybe that is why Katria’s internal dialogue sounds abrupt. The story is loosely similar to Psyche and Eros (not allowed to see him) and Anastasia (lost princess, forgotten memories) and Cinderella (mean stepmother and stepsister, dead parents). It’s entertaining if you haven’t nothing better to listen to or read. A true fantasy standalone palette cleanser. No need to read book 1 in the series, no guests.

“King Aviness the Sixth’s death sparked a seemingly endless cycle of people vying for power. There are three things that give a king control over the fae: the glass crown, the hill on which the first king was crowned—which is also where the glass crown resides—and the magic of the ancient kings. If a man controls all three, he controls the fae.”
“My every thought returns to you. You are like a whirlwind, down and down I spin, every time, until I’m caught in your center. Now, I know there is only one way to escape.” … “To give in, to stop fighting, and see where you take me.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 / 3.5 stars A Dance with the Fae Prince tells the story of Katria, who is married off to a mysterious lord, and finds herself spirited away to the Midscape, the lands of the Fae.
“Love is the closest thing we have to meaning in this world.”
I’ve read all other books in the Married to Magic series and I listened to the dramatized audiobook adaption. It was my first time listening to a dramatized version and I’m not sure I’ll listen to another one…
I have to be honest; I didn’t really enjoy this book and I’m not sure if it is due to the narrators or the story itself. I do know I’ll probably not listen to another dramatized version ever again, since I just found it very cringe in a bad way. One of the main things I found a bit strange is how the narrator was another voice actor than the main voice of Katria, which I had expected to be the same.
The story starts of slow and not a lot happens. Katria moved to the lord’s manor, they meet, and it is a bit stagnant until they get to Midscape. I did like the progression of the story although it was very predictable to me.
I wasn’t a fan of the characters; they didn’t seem to act their age. Katria was very annoying, especially in the beginning and Davien kept acting like a child throwing a tantrum after his toy being taken away. It did become better, but I just didn’t connect with both.
I did like the romance and the connection between the two which bloomed nicely, when they acted like the adults they were.
I don’t know it the lack of interest I felt while listening way due to the way it’s narrated, but the overall pacing just felt off to me and I feel like I would’ve enjoyed the story itself more if I didn’t listen to this version.
Overall, I did like the story itself, but it was predictable, and I didn’t vibe with the characters. I definitely enjoyed all other books in the series more than this one.
I have never encountered a more stupid and frustrating fmc. Talk about giving me the most massive ick. This woman is just incapable of following simple instructions, to the point that she constantly endangers herself and others. She's overly obsessed with a man she does not know and hasn't yet shown any romantic interest in her. She is often weak and pathetic and can't keep her composure (particularly in interactions with her siblings). She is lacking even the mere semblance of a brain cell (e.g. four "dangerous fae" are conducting a ritual and when they're about to burn her mom's book she rushes out screaming. ??? where tf is your basic self preservation? why are you genuinely mentally challenged?) Being inside Katria's empty and undeveloped head was physically painful and something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I really don't know how Elise Kova managed to come up with such an unlikeable, imbecilic, spineless fmc.. what a bummer to have to deal with this mess, especially when I rather liked the first book.
Outside of the horrendous fmc, the plot was eye-roll worthy as well, and the dumb "rules" Katria's husband established just made no damn sense. He was poorly fleshed out as well. This book was just badly executed.
Also, the narration left much to be desired. The voice actor playing the fmc sounds like some underdeveloped AI.
If I rated books I DNF'd, this would be a solid one star.
Sadly, I did not enjoy this one as much as the first book in the series, A Deal with the Elf King. That was a four star for me, this was only 3 star. The Elf King had a stronger ending for me and I felt more of an emotional connection to it somehow. This one wasn’t a bad story, but it was just okay. Not sure if I’ll continue with this series, definitely not at the moment. The next one seems to be about Vampires - which aren’t usually something I want to read about. 🤷🏻♀️
I absolutely loved this book! The writing style, the character development, the twists, the romance, the pacing...it was all done so well! I would highly recommend this one. This was my first Elise Kova book and I will absolutely be reading more of her books!
"I really saw you in the first moment you walked in my door. I have seen your soul, and I have fallen in love with it. So, there's nothing about the mortal casing that it's housed within that could make me love you less."
I'm absolutely loving this series. Each book is a "little" bite-sized tale [so far] of a different species of the beautifully connected universe the author has built, this one Fae and the first with Elves. I would highly recommend this series in the beautifully done dramatized version, especially for this book. Story wise, I absolutely love the characters and I feel that I can connect with them. I also love how intriguing the world-building has been, capturing you in the mists and fog of mystery and bringing you in to a different part of an unknown land each time; it makes me want to continue deeper and deeper into every inch of lore the author gives us as each book continues, and I'm all for it!
The narrator. Wow. I probably should have taken it as a sign when I went to start the book and I thought the narration was AI 😂. The FMC narrator was sooo ROBOTIC. Her voice for the character was fine but it was when she changed to the overarching voice to tell the story that she lost ALL emotion. It became so hard to enjoy the story.
Next was the story. It was so hard to enjoy this book when the MMC would only go on about how he's the rightful king & how the power is his. For how short this book is the author took too much time negatively showing the character's attributes. The FMC did the same thing but with love, she went on & on about how love was a terrible thing & didn't really build a good relationship with the MMC, at least in my opinion.
I'd love to continue the series because I love fantasy stories. I remember enjoying the first book to an extent but this book is really deterring me.
Round up to 3.5/ 5 stars- the graphic audio performances gave some oomph!
This novel is definitely in the "young adult" category, don't see that mentioned though (if you like clean romances, this book is for you).
The general plot involves a young woman in an abusive household, manipulated as the servant by a wicked stepmother (hence the Cinderella theme). She is sold into marriage with a complete stranger who doesn't even have the decency to do the "transaction" himself....our young heroine is whisked away from the home she knew to a distant estate with no mention of where her "husband" is (let alone why he married her).
The "husband" sets some rather strange rules for Katria's wellbeing, my first thought of "dude, have you not heard the saying Happy Wife, Happy Life?". Forgive the momentary 21st Century women's rights campaign I had started in my mind as the rules turned out to be somewhat accurate (if a little overreach). I had to remind myself this is a fantasy novel and they can stray into grey areas on such topics. If he had gone down the "women belong in the kitchen" route, I would have probably refused to read any further regardless of the main plot points still to be revealed.
Add in a changeling monster (disguised as an abandoned little girl covered in blood and dirt who just happens to have the sweetest eyes), magic fire rituals (crack out the marshmallows!) and fairy body paint and voila! You have stolen the ancient magic of the kings from a past era and your "husband" calls you a thief because you stopped him from burning your mother's final possession after her untimely death. Someone needs to pull this "husband' 's head out a certain orifice for a minute and give Katria a break before she has a nervous breakdown.
Nothing like finding out your "husband" is actually a Fae either but we will hold off our judgement for now as we need to meet some of his inner circle (who have far more manners than he does).
Off to find a place where we can safely transfer the ancient power from Katria to her "husband", Davian. I had to grin when I heard the voice actor who totally kicked butt as Feyre Archeron from ACOTAR as the resident baddie (who knew she could play the villain?!). Also for the fellow ACOTAR fans- the voice actor who played our beloved Lucian is the voice of Davian- he certainly turns up the charisma in this role (you're welcome).
Time to save your "husband", or is he your actual husband now? Come on, Katria- admit you are developing strong feelings for Davian and stop hiding in the shadows of your past.
As stated previously, the romance is definitely on the cleaner side and it felt more like a first crush than love.
I'm still a bit sour that Davian kept his true self from Katria in the early stages instead of being upfront, there is no way this could be classified as a "miscommunication" trope either. You lost half a star off this review for that lie, Davian!
This is book 2 in the Married to Magic series, which are complete standalones that take place in the same universe. This story follows a woman, Katria, who is married off by her abusive step mother to a mysterious man on the outskirts of town whom she is not allowed to look upon. Of course, a few months into the arrangement as their relationship grows, Katria begins to notice odd events taking place around their home. One night she witnesses a ritual she was never meant to see and is whisked away into the land of Midscape to help return magic to the rightful heir of the fae and dethrone the malicious king in power.
When I tell you I devoured this book, it took me mere hours to finish. I was literally vibrating with theories about what was going to happen ( all of which I correctly guessed). I love reading books about the fae, and I especially loved the fact that these fae mostly had wings (my Thumblina obsessed heart was overjoyed by this). My only gripe was that the story wasn’t longer to fully flesh out the finer details and give the story more time to develop, but for how short this story was, I’m absolutely obsessed!
I’m completely in love with the graphic audio of this book! The performance was everything I needed to make this story exactly how I would imagine in my head. The only distracting thing was that the voice actor of Feyre from the ACOTAR graphic audio was among the cast for A Dance with the Fae Prince, which had me laughing a little bit, but even she absolutely killed it! I’m genuinely loving listening to this series in this format!
A Dance with the Fae Prince gives Cinderella and Psyche & Eros retelling vibes and has a sweet and swoony HEA ending.
In terms of spice, this book is generally considered YA or NA and therefore has non-graphic on screen spice as well as some fade to black scenes.
god i could never get over katria and davien, they own my heart entirely and for eternity 🥹 this book is even better on a second read and the graphic audio voice actors did a great job (well except maybe for the parts where katria's inner monologue sounded AI generated lmao i can let that slide tho, after all it's my second favorite book in the series)
My rating for the graphic audio would have been 5 stars if the main narrator hadn't been so monotonous, specially the major first half of the story. A friend of mine heard a bit of it and thought it was either a computer or ai. My other issue lies with the story itself. First off, I had previously loved the first act of the story. It had raised my expectations for what was to come. GraphicAudio allowed me to perceive it in a different light and the pacing felt absolutely better. And upon rereading (listening?) it, I found Katria more relatable in terms of wanting to push down her traumas and neglect the signs. However, there's no denying that some of these supposed-to-be Easter eggs were handled callously. Very predictable.
But generally, the audio experience was a good one👌🏼
Basic Plot: A human woman is sold in marriage and is drawn into a whole new world of life.
This was a pretty unique retelling of Cinderella. At moments, it had a few old-school Beauty and the Beast (not Disney, Grimm) vibes, but it circled right back to Cinderella at the end. I liked the interpretation. Overall, I liked the romance and how it played out. I liked the Cinderella vibes, and the worldbuilding. The side characters were interesting, and generally we had a solid story here. It did move a bit slowly at times, and there were points where I really just wanted the characters to recognize the clue-by-fours that I felt were really obvious. The final plot reveal took WAY too long. But the ending paid off.
3 stars - The Fae Prince was an arrogant manchild for the majority of this book, fluctuating between 'my power', 'my kingdom', 'me me me me', and intimate scenes with the FMC where he felt like a totally different character. He even acted like a petulant child at one point because he was unhappy that she had 'stolen' his power. I understand he's fae and had been waiting years for the powers to go to him, but he was a grown man! Very unattractive behaviour. And by the end of the story he's totally chill with her having the power back? Ugh.
I saw the twist from the very start, but maybe its because I've read too many of this style of book?

Compared to the first book, I like this one much more. I found the character to be kind of a bore at the beginning, but the world-building in this made the overall story and her more interesting as the book progressed. Similar to the last book, I'm a bit uninterested in the romance plot between the two leads. There doesn't feel to be much chemistry between them, and I found the whole "I CAN NEVER LOVE" subplot to be a bit too much. But hey, I'm glad they get their happily ever after regardless.
I really enjoyed book two more than the first one. Katria is abused by her family and doesn’t understand what love really is. She’s married off to someone her family thinks will treat her the same. When in reality he’s very kind. She goes on a whirlwind of an adventure with the fae and grows in love, strength, and bravery. She ends up right where she belongs. I highly, highly recommend the dramatized audiobook.
GraphicAudio audiobooks are my favorite. I love anything with a full cast.
But I have beef with them.
The MC plays the lute. A fiddle is often mentioned in accompaniment. Did any of the music they used have a lute and/or a fiddle???? (No.)
(This review is not for the story. I love all of the Married to Magic stories despite the first two being fairly predictable. They're cozy romantasy to me.)
3.5 stars. Was on a role with the dramatised audiobooks of these and ended up listening to this one at the same time as Elf King essentially (but this one solo). Not as good as book one, still an adventure but I didn't like the characters so much. Davian was a bit of a dick in the first half, and Katria did some pretty dumb things at times.
Book 2 in series... But a stand alone Fae story, not necessary to read book 1 as there is only a little blip about it. Another good tale, but this is Cinderella-ish, with a sort of Beauty and the Beast husband with a big heart ... Trying to do best for his world. A bit more singing & just enough spice (awesome job on both Graphic Audio cast 😍). Off to listen to book 3.... yeah Vampires!
I’m really enjoying the dramatic audiobooks for this series. While I did enjoy it, a few things kept it from being as good as the first one in the series for me. The MMC was very bratty in the beginning and the FMC was infuriating at times. I have to say though the book wrapped up nicely and it was fast paced. The cast did a great job, however, I felt the FMC was AI read at times.
Enjoyed this more than the first. The dialogue didn't fight with the background music as much. It was hard to hear what was said when dialogue happened behind a door. I had to rewind and turn up the volume at those times. The pace was good, but I did figure out the climax. The foreshadowing was heavy on it that it wasn't surprising. I don't recall any sex or language.
This book actually seemed better than the first. Maybe it was because Katria was more believable and well-rounded than the Human Queen. It could've been that the world set down in the first one was only expanded on and I adore fae, but either way this was a good solid read. If not a bit predictable in the end.
I am thoroughly enjoying the dramatised adaptations of the Married to Magic series.
I loved the romance in book 1 a little more than this but the plot and entire world was so exciting. I love an adaptation/reimagining, and this was a wonderful take on Cinderella (I haven't read The Cruel Prince) and the way that Katria grew was amazing.
Idk if I’m just in a mood but I was soooo bored with this one and didn’t feel anything between the mc’s lol. I have other books I’m more excited to read.
Listened on Hoopla. I do love dramatized audios but this one made me jumpy a few times with the background noises lol
