You find the perfect flat to rent only to discover the owner will only rent to a couple....
When ex-classmates Hannah and Siris both attend a show house viewing only to discover they’re unable to live there unless they’re a couple, after briefly weighing up the pros and cons, they decide to do the unexpected and pretend to be blissfully in love!
With a ten-year high school reunion and a very jealous ex-girlfriend thrown into the mix, not to mention real feelings beginning to creep in, this fake dating status is proving to be more challenging than it first seemed!
And when her past starts to repeat itself, Hannah will either have to change things and come to terms with it – or call everything quits.
Will a loveable ginger cat, plenty of food, their mutual love of Friends and a common goal be enough to keep them together?
Luna Hayes is a South African Indie author who writes closed door ( 3/4 closed) romance novels. She loves custom bookish themed scented candles and eating way too much chocolate while she writes- usually with a cat on her lap. When she's not writing she's having conversations (in her head) with her characters while milking her goats or watering her garden.
Sweet and romantic Siris and Hannah went to school together but weren't in the same group and now all of these years later they are reunited when they go to look around for a potential home. The landlord wants a couple to move in but they are not a couple, yet...
I loved this book by the new indie author Luna Hayes. It's very sweet and relatable. Siris and Hannah both have normal jobs and lead normal lives and watching their romance blossom is lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to what this author has in store next. ⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Not because she's a friend but I loved this book! Proper review to follow. Well done, Luna 🎉🙌🫶🏼😭💖
I was sitting and contemplating what I wanted to say in my review. Sadly, I couldn't come up with anything I didn't already share with the author nor with Lopke, while reading this book.
Luna, thank you for hearing my thoughts. I see you and thank you for writing a character that made me feel seen. Minus some of the things she went through. Siris is just puuuuuurfect!
Did I rate the book the way I did because I know the real Luna and she's a friend and I'm in the acknowledgments? Yes but mostly no. I loved it because the way the book made me feel.
This book won't ever be for everyone. I want to say this to the haters or the wishing more readers. Luna produced a damned fine book for a debut. She wrote everything herself while managing a household and dealing with her day to day things.
She did it on her own, without a publisher or anyone else assisting her, other than feedback from early readers. She did everything, every minutiae detail and she can be damned proud that she produced a book while many others just talk about it.
The writing wasn't perfect but it did remind me a lot of the writing style I got from EL James' book series The Mister and The Missus, both of which I absolutely loved.
The Easter Eggs I saw in the book from the person behind the Luna mask made me feel closer to my friend and I learned some new facts about her. Luna, thank you for sharing behind the scenes with me. I see you 🫶🏼
If no one else will say it, let me keep saying it. Luna, you had this vision for 30 years and you did it. I can't wait for your next project. May it be even bigger and better than you think.
Rounded up to 3.5 stars. This is a cute rom com about Hannah and Siris who pretend to be a couple so that they can rent a place together. Siris is a foodie and has a food truck. My mouth watered when I read about the food he was cooking for Hannah. I love that he treated her so well especially after a toxic relationship that she was in. Being a Friends fan I loved that they were fans too. I do think there was a lot of detail and sometimes the dialogue was a bit formal but otherwise a sweet read.
Cute & cozy closed door romance. 🥰 Very peaceful and wholesome. They vibe is definitely warm winter sunshine with a wind you can’t feel but can hear the rustling of the leaves. 🍃 🌤️ There isn’t too much tension or drama in this story. It’s a lighthearted read meant to slow you down a bring a smile to your face. Definitely would suggest another round of editing but a lovely debut.
I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into when I started this book, but the cover looked cute and I wanted the story to surprise me, rather than rereading the synopsis.
This was a cute, feel-good story set in South Africa and told by the main two characters in first person. I love this as it means we can really get inside their heads and get to know them better.
Both main chracters are very likeable. Hannah and Siris haven't seen each other since they were at school together 10 years ago, but then both go to the same houseviewing and end up renting it together as the owner wants a couple to live there. It was pretty clear one way or another, that these two were going to turn fake dating into real dating, but the journey to get there was so lovely. I smiled quite a bit while reading this cute story and it really just gave me a nice fuzzy feeling.
I Did, Did I is a cute closed-door romance. The story follows Hannah and Siris, ex-classmates who find each other again 10 years after leaving school. They are both wanting to rent the same flat, although the owner will only rent it to a couple.
The solution? Pretend to be a couple!
They quickly settle into a comfortable living arrangement and Hannah makes it clear they cannot fall in love.
But a school reunion and a very jealous psycho ex-girlfriend causes the rules to bend somewhat, and Hannah and Siris attend as " a couple".
The lines begin to blur as pretend feelings start to mix with real feelings, and patterns from the past also start to creep up.
While I felt that this book would benefit from another round of editing, it hit me just how difficult it is to write dialogue. Massive respect to all authors! The exchanges between Hannah and Siris felt a bit clinical at times, and the excessive use of their names while talking to each other sometimes felt unnatural. That being said, this is a solid debut novel from Luna (it would make a great movie btw!). It's perfect for anyone looking for a cosy sweet romance. 🩷
The relationship between the characters is so thoughtful, yet not without its challenges and some depth that comes with that. I as the reader loved seeing them fall in love and how it was shown. Hannah makes such a lovely and unique heroine and it was a joy to see neurodiversity represented well. She really tugged at my heartstrings.
There were such vivid descriptions of flowers, food, and more that brought parts of the book to life.
I smiled a lot reading this and couldn't wait to get back to it. The characters stayed with me even when I wasn't reading, which I always take as a good sign. Readers should be aware there are numerous typos and grammar errors throughout the book, but I'd recommend for people like me unbothered by that who love heartwarming stories, thoughtful characters with engaging interests, and slow burn romances.
I’m a dark romance girly at heart, but this book was SO good for my soul😭! A relationship that isn’t toxic? An MMC that communicates and shows up for his girl? YES PLEASE 🥹. A relatable FMC? Of course! This book was just so real but in the best way possible🥺 Luna Hayes made me feel so comfortable just from reading about one of the cities in my country ❤️. Absolutely LOVED it🫶🏼

I rated it 3.5 stars It had me laughing, cringing, and nodding along—it’s chaotic, messy, and surprisingly relatable. Some parts dragged, and a few twists were predictable, but the humor and character moments carried it. Who doesn’t love a fake dating moment.
Perfect for a light, funny read when you just want to escape for a few hours. Not flawless, but fun enough to recommend!
I Did, Did I? is a story that I'd classify as "palate cleanser cute." It's a sweet story that reads really quick, and doesn't involve too much brain power.
I have a few nitpicks such as cringey/cliché dialogues, robotic character responses, and some grammatical and spelling errors. But this is a debut novel, so it is to be expected, and it didn't deter me from the direction of the story.
Siris was definitely a major bonus because I will always appreciate a mmc that cooks... and does it with pleasure! The epilogue was also super adorable.
I'd highly recommend this one if you're looking for a sweet story without having to dive too deep into the details :)
