In the black mould, something hideous is lurking. A malicious spirit that stalks the children of Shyden.
After barely escaping his old house, Liam comes face to face with this new threat. But with his mother's health rapidly declining, his focus is torn between his family and shielding the young boys from this hideous ghoul.
Who is this devil creature?
And what does it want with the children?
Once again, Liam must step into the darkness, face the mould, and protect Shyden from this unspeakable evil.
Born in the small Welsh town of Llanelli, Steven began writing stories at the age of eight. His inspiration came from his love for ‘80s horror movies, and novels by Stephen King and the late Richard Matheson.
During Steven’s teenage years, as well as being a black-belt kickboxer, he became a great lover of writing dark and twisted poems – six of which gained him publications with Poetry Now, Brownstone Books, and Strong Words.
Over the next few years, and after becoming a father and a husband, Steven's passion drove him towards writing short stories, gaining him further publication with Dark Moon Digest: an American horror magazine. His terrifying tales of the afterlife and zombies gained him positive reviews, particularly his story, Burning Ambition, which also came runner up in a Five-stop-story contest.
Finally, in 2013, after years of hard work (and countless rejection letters), Steven got his debut novel, Fourteen Days, published by Barking Rain Press.
Devil is the second book in the Liam Tate Thriller series written by Steven Jenkins. Devil is Liam Tate’s story. You see Liam sees the dead and when he sees the dead that is when the mould appears.
This time around the Devil is after the children. What does he want with the Children? And what is he going to do to them once he has them?
Devil is a very scary story that pulled me into its depths the moment I started reading. Devil is just as good if not better than the first book Mould. We were first introduced to Liam in Mould. In Mould, we learned about Liam and his seeing the dead.
Devil has many twists and turns that kept me racing to the end. It also holds many secrets. Secrets that surprised me. Secrets that I did not see coming. The suspense was so heavy that it kept the pages turning as well.
When Liam or Steven described the mould it was so easy for me to see it as if I was there. I could see it coming out of the walls and climbing up as it covered everything in its way.
I enjoyed reading Devil so much that I would very much like to read more about Liam and see what lies ahead for him. You know to see what other creepy crawly things come crawling out of the woodwork.
I would highly recommend Devil to anyone who loves a good scare. Grab your copy of Devil today for a scary good time! But I warn you, you may want to leave the lights on.
Excellent sequel to Mould featuring Liam Tate who is a reluctant crime fighter and detective. Devil shows that childhood idols aren't always what they seem. Devil could be a standalone read but strengthens the characters and story items from Mould. Steven Jenkins has crafted a solid horror novel that is highly recommended.
This is another great short story and follows on from Mould, the first in this series, and once again is full of general creepiness despite it's relatively short length.
The universe has a habit of drawing Liam into things that he would rather avoid but he sees things others can't, and wouldn't even want to, imagine so when he realises that children are in danger, he can't look away but it quickly becomes a race against time before they disappear.
With great characters, a really good story line and written at a good pace, this is another great short story and a good addition to this series.
Many thanks to the author for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of Devil.
Supernatural horror, paranormal mystery, and true crime fiction. Ok I made that last one up but it fits. As horror and mystery, Devil hits the mark. But it's the reality slant than is truly terrifying. I have loved every Steven Jenkins book I've ever read - and that's most of them - but this one is over the top. Creepy, chilling and thought provoking horror at its finest. Readers with trigger issues might be tested. Imo triggers and horror just go together beautifully it's kind of what makes it's scary. Would be a spoiler to be more specific so all I can say heads up. Just a little side mention here, Cure for Everything by the same author.. read it too.
Devil is the sequel novel to Mould, the first in the Liam Tate series. Liam sees the dead and when he does he sees the mould. The mould is a precursor to the dead but this time its not the dead Liam sees it's the devil and he's hunting children. Liam is torn between his family or saving the children. This novel is filled with twists and turns that keep you turning the page as we delve deeper into who Liam Tate is and the powers he holds. Steve Jenkins really knows how to write a page turner and you won't be disappointed! I was given a free copy and am writing an honest, unsolicited review.
Liam has grown up he still can see ghost's even though he does not want to. Something starts happening to the children at the school he works at. There are secrets hidden. Liam sees visions ok the children. Can he save them from the evil? Spellbinding creepy read with great characters.
A great follow-up to Mould. Loved the story and character progressions. The fast-paced plot kept me thoroughly engaged throughout. Enjoyed every page of it!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
This second instalment in the series was just so good. Evil in life becomes evil in death. I kind of anticipated the ending after how the story began, but it certainly packed a gut wrenching punch. Can’t wait for book 3
This was excellent! I always love this writers work! Really well written, a great idea, really well done! Chilling! This is everything you could want from a British horror! I think made more frightening by the style & intensity of the writing! Brilliant! I do recommend!
An excellent, paranormal horror. Well written and filled with pages of devastation, fear, evil, pain and deceit. Highly recommended. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Omg! This was so good, I loved it. The sequel to Mould that I had been waiting for and I got KU for a few months so why not. So, Liam has a gift or I guess a curse he sees what others can not. I really wanted to read this in one day however life. Anyway I really enjoyed this.
This is a great new series, I hope there's more to come. It's pretty easy to see where he got inspiration for the protagonist in this story, one the most beloved and evil celebrities ever produced in the UK. I read this book in a couple of hours and it was a brilliant read.
Devil is very well written. You can feel the dread and fear for the characters . The monster of this tale is horrifying. I can’t wait to read the next book .
Another intense thriller. Liam is grateful to have escaped the first threat and keep his Mom safe. Unfortunately now there’s a new one that he has to deal with. Don’t miss this exciting story.
Devil is the 2nd book. Liam Tate must protect the boys that the Devil wants and his mother also. Its a scary, paranormal mystery. You will love this book.
