Rate this book
Everly is the Alpha’s eldest daughter and next in line to become Alpha. That all changes when she learns she is pregnant with the notorious Blood Alpha’s son. But Alpha Valen denies ever being with her, and her father refuses to have a “rogue whore” for a daughter. Everly is shunned by the pack for not aborting her child, stripped of her title, and forced to be a rogue with her newborn son.

Eventually making something of herself and thinking her life was going back to some kind of normal, she felt she could finally be free of everyone suppressing her. Only then did the Blood Alpha discover he was her fated mate.

After years of being on her own, he has come to claim her and his son. Everly has no interest in being with the man who denied her son and shamed her; the man who helped cause her suffering. But can she resist the bond and protect herself and her son, or will she give in and become his Luna?

Helen has spoilers … (here’s her review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

But I’ll add why this isn’t for me 😐…

While he’s sleeping around, the h (his true mate) is slowly dying 🤬 and she has a child by this manhooooar 🤬 to take care of… like… whyyyyyy?!?!?

And the one time she kisses another man, he finally starts to feel the pain she’s BEEN feeling 😒, but it’s mild compared to what she’s experienced

Well, Valen could have all the regrets of the world, he would still be a A grade jerk. An unlikeable character.

Requires a fair number of rewites

This story could do with a good edit. There are continuity issues all through the story line.

The FMC was weak and gave into the MMC, whose idea of courting is force, intimidation, manipulation and threats.

It's difficult to try to sell. MMC as strong, loving and a good person when they treat all the women who sleep with them like trash, using verbal and physical abuse.

Disappointing, not worth reading the next in the series.

Alpha's Regret
Regret Series #1
By Jessica Hall
Narrated by Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St Claire

Sometimes I need a book I can sink my teeth into, and Jessica Hall provided me with that this past weekend. Going in blind, I had no idea what I was in for, but it's a story that is not only entertaining but will stick with me. Everly is the next in line to be Alpha of her pack. That is until she comes home pregnant at 17, and thrown out of her house. The father of her child, Alpha Valen reject the thought of even sleeping with her, so now she is completely on her own and has to fend for herself. That is until Valerie finds her. And our story begins. This book isn't just about finding your mate. It's not just about family that is your blood or being a certain class. It's about being your best self, standing up for what you believe in and who you are and never settling for less. Everly proves that family is more than who you are born to. And even when Valen comes to realize and remember, she doesn't give in easily. She knows what she wants and won't accept less. This book is exciting and suspenseful. It's filled with passion and love of family. And I loved every minute. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out!

Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St Claire narrate this fabulous pnr and boy do they bring it to life! So many characters, so much emotion, and little kids are fantastic! Qualen has a couple of Alpha's, but his voice for Valen is strong and possessive, yet pulls out the vulnerable side too. St Claire has all the women, but her focus is Everly, filled with ambition, protectiveness and strength. This performance is stellar and one that should not be missed.

Page turner set in the Shifter-verse

Alpha's Regret is set in the Shifter-verse in a land divided between frequently hostile packs. At 17, Everly becomes pregnant following a drunken one night stand at an Alpha's convention. Even though she is the designated heir to her father's pack, she is disowned by her family, shunned by pack society, and disbelieved and rejected by the father of her child. Alone and without resources, she is forced to become a Rogue.

While the book's title references the father, Valen, Everly is the focal point of the story. She creates a found family with a loving and supportive older woman and two other single mothers. She builds a successful business that's staffed by Rogue women, contributes to her community, and becomes an advocate for the rights of the Rogues. She is a strong, determined, and loving woman.

The hero, Valen, is extremely unlikable for the first half of the book. Before he realizes that Everly is his mate, he is frequently in a drunken fog, dismissive and disrespectful of women, and lacking in self-awareness.

Hall has created a misogynistic pack society in which women are blamed and punished for having a child outside of marriage, and men are absolved. The Rogue women are excluded from good schools for their children, forced to work for less than the minimum wage, labeled with slurs, and unprotected by law enforcement. Everly becomes a heroine and leader by fighting for this dispossessed community.

The book ends with a cliffhanger and a number of open questions. You will have to read the follow-up to find out what happens. As this was a very engaging page- turner, I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

Every character here is dumb as fuck.
No one can put anything together , even when it's right in front of their faces. Everyone makes horrible choices, the men are all disgusting pigs( I think except the beta ...Marcus? he was probably the only decent guy....dumb as bag of rocks....but decent )

The writing was painful at times , I'm assuming at some point this was one of those pay per chapter things.....because the angst and drama definitely pushed me to keep reading....I guess that's how the swindle you out of your $$$ . so I gotta give it points for that.
But yeah, it was somewhat entertaining to read...I just don't feel the need to finish the duet off.

I love reading omegaverse books, this series is my absolute favorite and the best way to introduce myself to this author and her books.

My heart broke for Everly, those chapters were not for the faint heart. I felt every emotion she went through and found myself shedding a tear or two with how deep this author’s writing was for the character.

Everly is an Alpha, she got pregnant by the pack rivals Alpha. Her parents shunned her for being pregnant and not wanting to terminate the pregnancy and accept that she’s next in line as Alpha.

Everly had no choice but to leave her pack and choose her son Valarian. And because of this choice, she is what they call a Rogue Whore. Just having Valarian, mistreated in the hospital for having a baby without a mate, she met two other Rogues, Zoe and Macey, both facing the same challenges.

Living in her car, struggling to eat and feed her son, a Beta whom she knows from her past, saw her and carried her to his pack house. The pack house was the Alpha she was with, Valarian’s father.

Before when Everly found out she was pregnant, she tried contacting Valen to tell him he was going to be a father but the Alpha Valen wanted nothing to do with her and claims she’s lying, he doesn’t have a kid. Well genetics proves that the baby is his.

Alpha Valen came home drunk and found Everly, she felt that instant connection that he’s her mate, but Valen to drunk felt nothing and commanded that she leave his territory.

Running out of his house in the pouring rain, she went home hoping her father had a change of heart.. he did not. After going back to her car, she saw a motel, where she met a woman name Valarie.

Valerie became the lifeline to help Everly start creating her village when no one wanted to support her. But what Everly didn’t know was that Valarie was more than a stranger with a helping hand.

So much has happened between Everly that book one is just the beginning of her story and you must experience it, I will not give any more away.

It’s definitely a must read.

What I can gather is this was originally on one of those read per chapter app things? I am not sure. I'd never read it in that format and I am glad things were packaged into two ebooks instead. This book is pretty long - 500 pages.😮It was actually pretty well written and I was surprised because I always thought those wattpad-esque app/sites had lower quality (no offense to writers on there, just it lacks professional editing and such🤷🏻‍♀️).

I am about 1/2 done with this. There is the secret baby, rejected mates trope. It makes more sense in this book's context than some others. There is OW drama and the hero does cheat technically. He has no idea he found his mate long ago (heroine does know - about the mate thing and cheating). I decided to only judge the hero on this after he realized and knew she was his mate. He was clueless before (due to being drunk and his own stupidly) and from his POV he didn't have a mate. For some, this might not matter and would be a hard pass. Once he knew she was his mate, he seems to be faithful and determined to get her by his side.

As I said I am half done, so I'll see how things go...

I liked the angst and hurt. The backstory was really good but learning that there are more books makes my eye roll.

One with all the story would have sufficed. Now, even though I am intrigued, I won’t be reading the next ones.

Unnecessarily long

Once again another bad werewolf book that I managed to read. This one truly had its issues. The novel is truly so misogynistic and sexist (that it kind of became repetitive). The writing and editing was also horrifically bad. Halfway through the book the author decided to rename a character called Ana to Amber, but she forgot to change that name throughout the entire book. Valen is also an asshole. I do think that the world building is somewhat interesting and I truly liked the sisterhood and found family trope. I might read book two because this one ended rather abruptly and I lowkey want to know if it can get any worse (which I think is 100% possible). I liked how the author tried to incorporate diversity but it wasn't the most accurate or best representation. The romance is also drier than the Sahara desert. I also do not vibe with their age gap and how he got her pregnant when she was 17
Big yikes for that.

Listened to audiobook: ⭐️⭐️

I get this was originally a pay per chapter book but geeze! It was way too drawn out. The book could’ve been half the size. I wish MMC did more “wooing” of the FMC to win her affection rather than just demanding it since they are mates. Or they just talk!

Also, I don’t mind spice, but the intament scenes were so cringe. I guess I was looking for more romance.

On the fence of reading second book at the moment…

I got suckered into this book by an ad, and I don’t really regret it. It was trashy and the MMC IS trash (they try to redeem him later and it doesn’t work for me) but that’s part of the appeal. If you look through my highlights and notes you might see what I mean.

Favorite character: Valarie.

There is definitely a cliffhanger at the end, and I will probably be reading the next book.

I started this out of boredom and it caught my eye on an insta ad. Turns out it has a good plot and felt like being on crack while reading (good thing tho).
For a werewolf story (which i usually don’t read this theme) it was pretty decent.

It was okay. Needs some editing, grammar issues. Hard to follow at times.

I really really wanted something between Marcus and Everly, not Valen. He doesn’t deserve to be forgiven.

There’s a time jump every few chapters a lot of em could be removed, the main story doesn’t start till hoity-toity alphahole meets Everly (again!) and can’t seem to understand why the poor rogue girl isn’t dying to get in his pants. After all, he is the big bad alpha.

She feels pain every time he fucks someone for FOUR YEARS and through that time she never once has a relationship with someone? Girl what??? You just take that pain??? Let him get away with it whilst you slowly die?

I am surprised everything goes smoothly when Valarian goes dad (alphahole) hunting. Kalen’s reaction is unexpected too. Seems everyone is happy except her own family.

Istg there better not be a redemption arc for John and co. they need to be cut out of Everly’s life.

2.5 stars.

The angst and heartbreak were well done. I also liked how resilient the FMC was.

Unfortunately, the story was on the boring side for me. The spice was also not in any way satisfying.

The grovel was non-existent. The MMC basically said sorry and got mad at the FMC when she mentioned for a second time, the pain she went through because of the mate bond and all the women he slept with over the 5 years, and they never talked about it after that.

I will NEVER be a fan of the FMC that gets her heart broken not even trying to date anyone else. She's celibate for 5 years suffering pains every time he sleeps with someone and even though he feels something is missing too, is able to shove that feeling aside and date and have copious amounts of sex. 😒 I really wanted her to get with someone else, enjoy herself and give him a taste of his own medicine.

*This review is for the entire duet*

This has been in my TBR forever and I have no idea why I let it sit for so long. I absolutely loved this story. There was angst, humor, a roll with the punches heroine with a backbone that would make you weep. I love the found family and the message of redemption and value of community. I love that in addition to fixing the relationship, the couple was willing to use their bond and influence to fix the wrongs around them that originally kept them apart. Character development actually mattered and was enjoyable to read even with the growing pains. I cannot recommend this duet enough.

I loved the first half of this book, but the rest of the other half was a snoozer and weird to me 🤷🤷 so I wasn't going to do a post for it (I only do book reviews on here for my five star ones) But Kimi asked and its so convoluted that I need to type it all out 😂 I won't put the time and care I usually do so it will be long and rambling okur?.....Soooooo.......like usual 😂😂😂

She is 17, almost 18 and pretty unrecognizable with glitter or some shiet at a alpha gathering. She ends up in a room with the alpha of another pack that their pack is always fighting with and she ends up pregnant from the ons. Her father and family find out that shes pregnant a month later and kick her out of the house making her a rogue wh0re which is SUPER BAD!!!! They're supposed to be pure and untouched til they find their mate which DUn DUN DUN, hes her mate (I told you spoilers were cummming). She ends up living out of her car after having her baby in the hospital. Shes at a train station when the alphas beta dude finds her and offers her a place at their pack house for the night. He knows she has a little whittle baby. He takes her to the pack house but had to leave for a bit when the alpha comes to the house with some random woman. He's so drunk that he can't recognize her from the glitter girl he effed at the alpha meeting and yells at her to leave while the other random girl is all over him. Shes heartbroken and runs to her parents house but they kick her azz out too. She ends up at a run down hotel for the night owned by another rogue whoRre but she ends up being the alphas mom!!!!!!!!! 😳 she knows seeing her grandsons eyes that are a unique amber color that he's valens son and takes them in. Valen (the H=hero/male) doesn't know about his mother but his dad visits her every once in awhile since she's his rejected mate. Hs dad rejecting her causes her to die slowly and destroy the bond but she was a very rich woman and left everything to everly the h (h= heroine/woman) when she dies. Meanwhile H is effing every freaking hole in the area and causes everly to slowly die but at a more rapid rate. she has nosebleeds, black and blue bruises on her back for every time he effed someone else and headaches and pain 😳😳😭 And also.....he was drunk for most of the first part of the book, but as soon as he finds her and her kid, hes stone cold sober? 🤔🤔

Then the kiddo escapes rogue school and finds his dad by the grace of god. He runs into Hs bodyguard on the street 🤔🤔🤔🤔😬 and that's how he finds out about his son.

The rest of the book is about how they go to watch the trolls movie and how he doesnt like the movie or the songs. RUDE. Who doesn't like the cover of true colors with Anna and Justin? And some pack business with her dad. and all of a sudden, his dad is chummy with her dad when they used to be enemies was mucho weird and Marcus the beta is mated to her rogue wh0re friend Zoey.

No om drama - EXCEPT when he doesn't understand what pain she went through when he was effing other girls so she kisses his beta for a second and he felt like he got kicked in the stomach. And she was like "imagine how it would habe felt if I effed him?" I was like "yeahhhhh! Girl! Take his beta into a room and make him feel PAIN!!!!!!!" But she didnt. 😐 whomp whomp 🤷🤷
Not in KU

I don't think ill read the next book cuz I just don't care to know what happens next. Once all the secrets come out, it gets boring 😂 and I low key had my feelings hurt when they didn't like trolls because POPPY is amazing duh!!!! 😭😭😭😭

Enemies to Lovers/Wolf shifters/Rejected Mate/Muti PoV (not just MCs)

SYNOPSIS (of Duet): This story is set in a world where humans and shifters (although the author calls them werewolves) live alongside one another but the shifters are marginalised. The FC, Everley, is thrown out of her pack and disowned after sleeping with an Alpha (Valen) and getting pregnant. This makes her a rogue. She tries to contact the father but he ignores her calls and later, when their paths cross again, she realises that they are mates but he doesn‘t and unintentionally rejects her. Everley is taken in by another rogue who becomes like a second mother to her and she and some other rogues build a family together and a business. Fast forward 5 years and the MC discovers Everley is his mate but she doesn‘t want him. She is slowly dying, having been rejected by him, and had to suffer the pain of him sleeping with other women. The story arc covers how they get together with a backdrop of an evil Alpha who is against giving rogue wolves any rights and who wants to take over all the packs in the area.

Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆 The sex scenes themselves are well written and pretty hot but relatively vanilla in content. They don‘t take over the duet and there are only a handful of full scenes.

The writing is decent with a story that starts off strong but then seems to lose its way and start meandering. It also starts in dual PoV but then moves into multi PoV with secondary characters having their own PoV chapters. The FC is a good, strong heroine who does not just roll over when presented with her mate but makes him fight for it (although not for very long!). The MC was likeable and pretty alpha (but not overly so) although I did find the constant womanising (before he finds his mate) and drinking a bit much. There is a decent backstory which provides some depth to the overall story and the characters and there is a good cast of supporting characters but whilst you get a fair amount of detail around the individual characters and their live‘s you don‘t get much in terms of pack life or pack interaction (i.e. the bigger picture) which was strange and meant that whilst there were all these packs there were only really a handful of people carrying the story. The results was a lack of substance to the story.

Book 1 started off with a good rejection storyline but then seemed to lose its way with gaps in the story and elements that were not completed. Such as, what happened about the facility and all that went on with Emily? Who set the fire in the hotel? I also found that when the story moved to book 2 it became a story not really about the 2 main characters but about multiple characters each finding their mate and then having their own chapters. For me this detracted from the story. I wanted a story focussed on the two main characters and not an ensemble cast. The result was that Everley and Valen seemed to become secondary characters and Everley was pregnant for a large part of the story which meant that she didn‘t really do anything. So, whilst there was the feel of some drama the story never actually delivered, the author seemed to keep starting to create some depth but not following through. Frustrating! It could have been so much better.

All in all this did not do it for me. It was too „all over the place“ and the story did not deliver. I‘m annoyed I got sucked into buying these books 😔

It's the first book of a duet and tells the story of the heir daughter (h) of the Alpha of one pack and her mate (H) who is a rival Alpha from another pack. h and H have an ONS when she is 17 and becomes pregnant. Her family rejects her and when she seeks help from H, he also rejects her. She has a super rough few months when she meets a woman who becomes her protector and gives her a purpose to keep fighting in life and for her baby. The h creates a new way of life together with this woman and other people who have been rejected by different packs and they create a community that establishes itself as their family. At one point the H realizes that h is his mate and seeks to redeem himself before her. The h's family are still super cruel and there is a major conflict between the h and her family. H becomes trusted by her and an ally. There are problems between the two packs but the Alpha of a third pack becomes the half hidden enemy.

I liked the book, it unfolds at a good pace and I like that the h, despite feeling an impulse towards the H because of the biology of the bond that unites them, manages to be strong and is emphatic about why she doesn't want him. The H is slowly gaining her confidence. Something I didn't like a lot is h&H's son has dialogues that give me the impression of a child older than 5 years old and I don't like that so much.

I really like the relationship she creates with her friends, that bond of solidarity and loyal friendship seems to me to be very well portrayed.

The MMC is AWFUL. Violent, misogynistic, narcissistic, abusive deadbeat trash who instead of trying to win over this woman he supposedly wants decided to use his power to abuse and harass her. He sent cops to brutalize his mate and her friends in front of their children?? He towed her car and tried to ruin her business because he couldn’t handle rejection? The hatred he spewed at her when he found out she had a child followed by the way he threatened her when he found out the child was his?? And he acted like she was leading him on when she was practically begging him to leave her alone?? All their interactions can be boiled down to him saying “you are mine and I own you and you can’t refuse me and if you don’t do what I want I’ll ruin your life.” At times it sounded like he was threatening to r*pe her. Plus, the way he talks about the women HE CHOOSES to sleep with like they’re the scum of the earth is insane. He has a revolving door of women and he hates their guts even though he’s the one who keeps inviting them into his bed? Like they’re less than human just cause he’s not feening for pussy anymore.

And also, the teacher whose ‘hair is like a poodle and smokes weed whose hair he wants to straighten’ was weird. Really don’t understand the obsession white people have with using textured hair as a punchline to make characters sound ridiculous. Books, cartoons, movies. I’m over hearing about how goofy y’all think “poofy hair” looks. The teacher’s race isn’t specified, but the constant comments about her looking like a poodle are not looking good next to the detail about her smoking weed on the job. It really just felt like racism? And like the author was sneaking in her personal issue with black people’s hair? Cause literally outside of an Afro, cannot think of a single hairstyle that would fit this description and it’s made so much worse by the fact that she made the lady high while taking care of children.

The writing and plot itself could be considered decent and interesting if it wasn’t obliterated by how much the male lead sucks.

This "Alpha" is called the Blood Alpha and is supposed to be the scariest Motherfucker in the city. But he's actually just his daddy's little bitch. His dad supposedly retired from running the pack, but obviously couldn't really retired because the "Blood Alpha" Valen is so inept and incompetent. Daddy is working behind the scenes to stop a pack war, while Valen is living it up, partying and getting black out drunk every night. (Although there's some mystery about what is really going on with Daddy and what his motives really are.)

That's how Valen is able to meet and reject his mate, he doesn't remember meeting her because he was drunk. How does this loser have such a scary reputation? Why would anyone fear him?

He acts like a 14 year old with an impulse control problem when it comes to his mate. Threatening to take the kid, then saying he won't, then threatening again, back and forth multiple times in the SAME conversation. THINKS about how he feels guilty for his past behavior but keeps doing things that just ruin any trust being built with the h, because he just can't help himself. He's not someone h can really fall in love with. They're drawn together by the bond and nothing else. It's really depressing reading her "fall" for this guy, which really just means she succumbs to the bond.

He also doesn't know about anything going on in his city. He doesn't know the Rogue wolves go to a shitty school with no desks? Doesn't he know about the budget and how little money is spent on the school? Wouldn't he know if the school were hiring uneducated, unqualified teachers? Shouldn't he already know all this? He's too busy living the party lifestyle, I guess.

And the ridiculousness of a group of 16-18 year old girls renovating a hotel is not even worth talking about.

Finally, way too long and too many characters and subplots. Side characters are one thing, but every side character having their own plot in the same book is too much.

Sara recommended this to me for a unserious, spicy, guilty pleasure. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a specific fan of the subgenre, and the book needed a lot of editing. Many mistakes, using they’re when it should have been their, referring to the wrong character, a few times the name was misspelled, missing punctuation, etc, and the prose were rather choppy, but the story itself was good.

For the most part there was a lot of character development, but it often felt that the revelations didn’t just make us feel different about the character, but changed their behaviors entirely (Valen, Kalen, John, Claire, Ava), so this could have been improved. However, I feel it did a good job at looking at character’s motivations rather than just people as driving forces of evil. If everyone is willing to let the world burn for their loved ones, that’s a lot of fire, in other words, all these murderers getting revenge for murder makes for a lot of death.

Valen is definitely toxic and intentionally or not had a lot in common with Carter, but it’s definitely a product of the genre and I eat that shit up so that’s on me.

Throughly enjoyed the book!

I highly recommend you listen to the audiobook. The narrators did a wonderful job with all the characters!! One thing I loved about the audiobook is the fact that they added bloopers in the end. It was awesome getting to know more about the process of creating an audiobook!

There is some spice, but very vanilla. The book is more focused on the plot rather than spicy bits.

Character development was well written, and I'm super anxious to see what comes next!

If you like books where the characters have children but always get annoyed because the children are usually left out of the story, this book is for you! The kids are part of the story in a way that makes you interested in knowing about them.

One thing I wish was explored a little further is the dynamics between the human world and the shifter world. The book really focuses on the shifter world, and you end up feeling like it's not a secret kept from humans. As if everyone knows about shifters and just vibes with that reality lol

Was it good? Nope. Was it entertaining? FUCK YES.

I am well aware that this began as a shitty web novel. Even if you didn't, it would be extremely obvious from reading it. There are about a million continuity errors. Random plot points that make no sense. Characters suddenly receiving personality transplants with no explanation. Wild plot twists around every corner.

It's written badly. Very, very badly.

And yet... it's absolutely impossible to put it fucking down.

These shitty web novels are my guilty pleasure. What they lack in sense they make up for in angst and edge of your seat moments. They're Daytime Soap Operas for the modern girl and I love them. I am so glad this one was put on Amazon so I could actually finish it.

Read it for the sheer entertainment value. You'll have to roll your eyes a lot and ignore giant plotholes. But I promise, you won't be bored. (And hey, at least there aren't any typos!)

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me hooked from beginning to end. I appreciated the werewolf element, though I almost wish it had played an even larger role. I admired how Everly endured everything she went through and overcame so many hardships. I even shed a few tears for her along the way. I also really liked her mate, the Blood Alpha Valen Solace, and their son, Valarian Solace—both had strong, well-defined personalities. Overall, I liked how the story was written and how events unfolded; the pacing was just right, not too slow but not overly fast either. I really liked the last sentences, it has such a big meaning. "Watch me. They might not see your vision, but they'll witness the success. Remember, you got the power to turn CAN'T into Can and IMPOSSIBLE into DONE. So, as you turn dreams into reality, let the world be your audience and make them watch.". I think it's so well written and I really liked it.

Way too graphic sexually for me. I enjoyed the twists and turns about who was whose son. I enjoyed the connection between these strong women characters. Thankfully the plot was very full and detailed. It was of substance. But did not realize it was so descriptive and brutal.

Unfortunately I bought book one and two. I love TJ Kune and assumed this was similar to his book but it was way more descriptive than I needed.

I have a horrific problem that even if I really dislike a book - under normal circumstances I force myself to read it. Sometimes taking two or three months while reading something else. So I may scan book two and skip any and all graphic scenes to read the books lot and skip to the ending if it is too much the book was Kindle so I cannot return it
For those that love this genre - it has a great story line.
