One Omega, four Alphas, their pact...

I may be an Omega, but that won’t stop me making my own way in life. I've fought for my place at this elite college despite my background, my designation, and a family who thinks I can't make it on my own. I'm determined I won’t end up as a play thing for some Alpha.

But when I catch the eye of The Crew — rich, entitled, and insanely hot – I’m slowly seduced by a new world of pleasure and passion. A world I never knew existed.

Soon, I’m the toy for a whole pack of Alphas.

All but one.

And in this pack it’s all for one, and one for all. That’s the pact. If he doesn’t want me, I can never be theirs.

And I’m beginning to realise that being theirs is exactly what I want.

***

This book gets an entire extra star JUST BECAUSE the heroes are rowers.

Do you know how long, and deeply, I've searched for rower heroes in romance? Only to come up with basically zilch? It's really odd how wealthy heroes are a dime a dozen, yet rowing - the quintessential posh-boy sport - features so little in comparison to the millions of footballers, rugby players, hockey players etc out there. The only rower heroes I've found in a mainstream MF romance are Billy from Fiona Wood's Cloudwish (which is YA, and he ends with giving up rowing anyway) or Sawyer from Jana Aston's Right, who mentions he rowed at uni years ago.

I suppose partially that's because rowing is quite a technical sport. If you don't know your bowside from strokeside, or which hand you should be feathering with, you shouldn't be writing about it. But writers successfully write about things they don't know all the time, using a bit of research. The only other reason I can think of is that rowing maybe seems boring in comparison to the skin-on-skin violence of contact sports. But it's absolutely beautiful - there's such an elegance to the rhythm of eight bodies moving in tandem, feathering their blades all at the same time. And one of my favourite sounds, as a cox, is that of eight handles all twisting simultaneously in their gates for that crisp *clunk*.

But anyway, I didn't quite mean this review to become a paean to rowing. It's pretty clear Hannah Haze must be a rowing fan too, because all the heroes are rowers and you actually see them off constantly training. I note one of her other books is set at Oxford, so perhaps she herself got involved in the rowing scene there.

Unfortunately, rowing enthusiasm alone isn't enough to sustain an entire book, especially because it could have been described with so much more depth. Like, are the boys in the first VIII for the uni, or trialling specifically for a race? There was reference to a 'varsity' boat race clearly modelled after the annual Oxbridge one, but since varsity in the UK basically means an Oxford vs Cambridge sports match, I'm unclear as to what it meant in the book's context (where the characters are at a made-up uni). Incidentally, since this was set in the UK, why was their university called a college? Yes, I'm being pedantic. No, I don't care.

The number of typos were sheerly incredible - we saw 'Crewmore College' substituted for 'Crestmore College', things like that. And almost every time the phrase 'The Crew' (the boys' pack name) was mentioned, it was italicised, which was super weird. Italics in dialogue should be kept to an absolute minimum.

The characters are very flat. I'm particularly disappointed by the heroine, who's like 'I'm a strong independent woman just here to get a STEM degree' and then spends all her time in bed with the heroes, neglecting her education. So much for that. Her connection to the heroes isn't grounded in anything deeper than lust, making protestations of love appear particularly awkward, and her transition from 'I'm a one-man woman' to 'Give me allll the dicks' was badly handled. The heroes' personalities weren't much better.

It's a real shame, but my search for a good rowing romance goes on.

For a book that's titled "In Deep", it wasn't all that deep.

A light, slightly bubblegum, NA, college campus, contemporary, omegaverse featuring a smart fmc, and four horny alphas. FM/MM/FMMMM, sword crossing, but very minimal descriptions of the two alphas together.

These alphas are all huge, gorgeous, and amazing at sex. They are wealthy and sought after by the local omega sorority. (That the h doesn't join because she's different than all those other girls). The alphas are on an award winning rowing team that's headed to the olympics. One quotes Shakespeare, the other is an Earl, and one is a descendent of a founding father. You get the idea.

I actually enjoyed the first half, it was refreshing to have a strong, intelligent fmc. The bummer was the h went from holding her own, to a simpering, gushing omega who's biology takes over and she just wants to be rutted. It was super steamy but lacked any kind of genuine emotional bond.

What bothered me was the guys Typical for a NA/college, but not exactly what I like reading about. Give me an alpha male who is possessive and gritty.

Had fun buddy reading this one with Isabella!

Hannah Haze hit it out of the park....

For HH's first RH Omegaverse she did an amazing job!! She integrated the more and more common formation of Alpha packs into her existing contemporary A/B/O world, due to the declining numbers of Omegas.

Rosie is independent and determined to show everyone that she is not pigeonholed to her omega designation. She fought her way into a prestigious college for Physics, with a goal to work on the space station project. Rosie's not going to let anything drag her down or stand in her way, especially an alpha....or four.

Enter The Crew: Zane, Duncan, Ollie, and Seb. They all come from rich well known families except Seb and they are the college's premier crew team and Olympic hopefuls. Even with all that they are grounded good guys, a tight pack, sexy as fuck, and looking for their pack omega. Someone who's serious and determined about their future not some spoiled pack princess gold digger.

Rosie catches the eye of Zane first. He wears down all her rejections with his sweet charm. I love how they take things slow, truly building a good foundation. It's all just a little fun though. Rosie has no intention of getting locked down by one alpha and can't even imagine a pack but the chemistry that sizzles between them is like nothing she's ever experienced. The more she's around the other alphas and she smells how their scents mingle, she realizes she might like being watched and being heard.

As the pack and Rosie's relationship moves forward the naughty level ratchets up. To the guys, Rosie smells like a ripe slice of heaven that they don't ever want to let go of. But someone's got secrets and not everyone wants to see Rosie as The Crew's omega. With all the problems they're facing, it just might cost Rosie her dreams and the guys their championship.

I really loved this one. The guys truly worked as a great team and pack. No possessiveness between them and each member brought something different to the pack. I loved how every guy had a distinct personality and their own relationship with Rosie. I must also say the fire level was off the charts with Zane and Duncan's MMF antics with Rosie, her insane heat sexfest, and Seb's dominance. There was also a great storyline, with lots of action, and plenty of angsty bits thrown in. A wonderfully balanced yet super steamy romance. I can't wait for the next one.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading Hannah Haze and I didn’t know what to expect. But as someone who reads all and every sweet Omegaverse Reverse Harem I can find, I knew I had to read this book.

So far I’ve read every new release this year in the OV RH sub-genre and In Deep is probably one of the best ones so far. I enjoyed the writing style and appreciated how well edited this was. The characters were interesting enough and the plot was well thought out.

Just a heads up, tho. In this OV, Omegas have glands at the back of their necks, and they are the source of their scents. This gland reacts when they get aroused. It took me by surprise, and like I said, I’m an avid OV reader lol

I liked that the alphas were in a rowing team trying to go to the Olympics and all the plot around that. It was different and I mean, have you seen those posh hotties rowing irl? It certainly gave me a nice mental picture.

I could’ve done without the ex-omega drama but it was such a small part of the story that I didn’t really care that much. And the mm relationship within the pack was very tame and almost happened entirely off-page, which was a bummer.

I loved that Rosie was an Omega studying Physics and wanting to work at the International Space Agency. As always, OV with social commentary based on our society gender issues is my favorite. And reading about Rosie wanting to choose her own life was great.

The heat in this story is definitely high, the smut was fantastic and I appreciated the realism involving the DP scenes 😌

This was a light fluffy read. It never got too serious or deep leaving me wanting a bit more. Some of the relationships were somewhat more developed but others were just there. I really liked the beginning with Rosie resisting and wanting to be independent but she folded pretty quickly. Then it was just all fluffy smut. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I just would have liked if we got a big more in depth with the characters.

A quick, smutty reverse harem omegaverse read.

Despite the name, it's not actually deep, pretty shallow and fast moving.

I don't know if I was in a mood but the beginning interactions felt...icky. I'm all for non-con/dub-con/cnc, but the alphas felt a little creepy and unnecessarily coercive to me.

Then there's the fact that these alphas used to have an omega like 6 months prior? Blah.

Overall, not TERRIBLE, but also not great.

While it was certainly a sweet and steamy omegaverse, I felt that all the characters were rather shallowly developed and many details introduced were quite superfluous and unnecessary. To list a few:

1. The M/M relationship between Duncan and Zane could have been left out. I didn't really see the necessity of including it other than allowing them to be something that the FMC Rosie eavesdropped on. We barely see this in action, and only when convenient for horniness mostly.

2. The OmegaSoc girls that tried to introduce themselves to Rosie. They showed up for one or two scenes to try and convince Rosie to join and just fizzled out of the story with no other impact. We really didn't need to learn about the OmegaSoc at all since 80% of the book basically revolved around how much time Rosie spent around the Crew and how many boys she eventually developed intimate relations with.

3. The physical presence of the OW Pippa - similar to the OmegaSoc girls, she literally did nothing but show up to play some mental games with Rosie and the Crew during the competition. This was very juvenile behavior IMO, and other than inspiring a little discomfort and jealousy, she didn't do anything super evil like I had expected.

4. The grumpy professor introduced at the beginning of the novel. I totally thought he was going to have more of an impact in the plot, especially since Rosie had emphasized how much her academic success was important to her, but the rest of the novel quickly became focused on how much sex Rosie was getting and from who. They were all supposed to be smart intelligent students trying to join the International Space Agency and become doctors and engineers, but they sure spent very little time on homework and projects and all of their time going out on dates and going at it all night.

5. Learning about Rosie's 4(?) other omega sisters. They showed up for one video conferencing scene but had no other impact on Rosie's relationship development. Having Rosie as a single child in the story would have worked just as well to be honest.

The above were by no means the only details I had issues with but were just a few examples.

If you just want to read about an alpha-omega reverse harem relationship developing in an academy with tons of sex, then this is your book, but if you are looking for a more meaty plot with a deeper conflict, I would suggest looking elsewhere. There were a lot of intimate scenes for those that enjoy that part of romance novels, but I also prefer more character development to go along with it.

In Deep had its fair share of pros and cons throughout. In the beginning, I really liked getting to know our main character, Rosie. She didn't want to follow the dumb rules Omega's have been following since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Or something like that. She wants to study and become something that no Omega has ever done. Whether it's being an Astronaut or something completely else. She has dreams and is doing everything she can in college to prove her parents wrong.

Ugh, her mother. I wasn't a fan of her, and I honestly don't know what would make this woman happy. Besides that, I didn't really like how quickly she changed her opinion on wanting to be with an Alpha. She was so hell bent on getting an education but then rolled over for some attention. Then again, the guys were pretty consistent with trying to hang out with her, so I guess a girl has got to cave once in a while, right? Eh.

Things went back to okay once the romance started. Yes, some of it was likable but a lot of it happened rather suddenly. I also didn't get some of the drama that happened otherwise, but I guess they needed to heal before moving on.

In the end, this was an okay omegaverse book. Had potential to be a bitter in my eyes but it was easy to read.

I’m mixed on this book. The writing is smooth and the Oxford-like college setting is great – it’s nice to get outside of America, since books like this are often so America-centric in their settings.

I haven’t read many books in the OV trope, but out of the ones I’ve read, “packs” have never been explained. There are just alphas who exist in packs, and as readers, we’re expected to go along with it and understand what that means. So, it was a pleasant surprise that in this, the dynamic of how the pack formed - and why they find it beneficial to live this way - is actually explained. And it feels like a unique bit of worldbuilding that packs are NOT the norm in this world, and Rosie is worried about being looked down upon for joining one.

This also feels somewhat unique for an RH, in the sense that Rosie has a relationship with just one guy, Zane, for a while, before gradually adding on the other guys. This is both good and bad: it felt like her relationship with the group built naturally, but also, it was weird to be reading an RH and to have it feel like an MF book as far as 30% into it. I kept checking the percentage on my kindle, and then re-checking that it WAS, in fact, an RH. By unfolding the story in this way, the pacing felt odd, since Zane got so much more screen time than the other guys.

I didn't give it more than 3 stars mostly because Rosie was a weak heroine — not in the sense of lacking a backbone, but in the sense of not feeling like much of a real person with depth. She started the book maintaining that she wanted to NOT belong to any alphas, and then her attitude shifted on a dime. Yes, people change, so I’m not opposed to a character getting a new opinion after finding out more information! But it felt like she changed her deep-seated convictions lightning fast, which made her feel wishy-washy and too insubstantial as a character, without enough of a sense of self. Like, she loved the stars, and aside from that fact, everything else about her personality was hard to pinpoint because it was subject to change.

Still, I would try this author again.

Fans of Hannah Haze's omegaverse books won't be disappointed! It's her usual sweet version of OV in a contemporary setting, but reverse harem this time, high steam, little touch of omega angst, and her handy dandy omegaverse glossary-style section for those new to the genre or want to know more about her interpretation of OV.

It was cute and filled with sex. Slow buildup with the first Alpha relationship, and then the remaining snap into place one at a time.

Oddly, the M/M scenes were mostly off page, which was a bit disappointing... Usually that's to cater to those who don't want to read it, but defeats the purpose of having bi characters if only straight sex is explicit.

I felt like this story was ONLY about the relationship. Which is totally fine, but I would have liked to have had another plot to follow (and the crew team competing ain’t it). Almost no drama or tension in this one. The FMC tries to be a strong willed character for a few chapters, but she folds super quickly when she is around any of the MMCs so it was a bit of an exercise in futility. This will definitely be a good read for fans of sweet omegaverse though.

This is a college age, contemporary omegaverse reverse harem that is full of cozy heart feelings. The female main character (Rosie), is an omega, who is defying some family expectations being at college and studying a hard science, with career aspirations. The alphas (4 of them) are a rowing team, who have formed a pack, which is also a rarity in this society. I personally liked that all of the main characters were pushing back and doing what was best for them, regardless of expectations. This is primarily a romance, although there are some conflicts that pop up - nothing too much and it does bring our characters closer together. *spoiler alert* The biggest conflict in the story is between one of the alphas and the omega and why he is resisting being in a relationship with her. My least favorite trope comes into play here (miscommunication) BUT this was the best I’ve seen it used, and I completely didn’t mind it within the context the author gave us.

There is certainly a good amount of sex in this book, but there isn’t any dubious consent or ‘must mate!’ mentality. In fact, there’s a lot of discussion around consent, for various acts and pairings and a surprising amount of realistic (and sexy) preparation for different acts as well. All of the alphas developed their own individual relationships with Rosie, sexually and emotionally, which I always love to see. I was also really happy to read an actual conversation with all 5 characters about how the dynamics of this larger relationship would work - usually I feel like authors jump right past this part, while I’m left wondering how everyone could possibly get along with no communication. There is a M/M pairing in this book as well, but the sexual aspects of this are largely kept off page, except for one very brief scene.

I know this is a standalone, but I would LOVE to read more of these characters. (There is a bonus epilogue on the author’s website!) Such a lovely sweetverse - I imagine I’ll be reading this one over and over again, as well as getting into Hannah Haze’s backlist.

As an omegaverse rh fan, it was an instant add to the tbr.

I liked it and I liked the fact that it was set in college, it made it different then the OV RH I’ve read before. I also like the fact that the guys were in a rowing team, I’ve never read about that before so I really enjoy the novelty.
I liked the guys though I didn’t feel connected to Ollie. I don’t know why, but I liked the 3 others so that’s okay

I really loved this book because it wasn't the hormone, alpha-hole must breed omega driven story that fills a lot of the Omegaverse. It was a conscience "Hey, look at me. I'm a person, too. A person that what's to be acknowledged for more than my biology, dammit!!" yell to the world.

When both alphas and omegas get tired of the labels, what do they do? When society continues to keep placing them in neat boxes that don't always fix, must they give in and give up to the inevitable?

This story grapples with a lot of these issues in the ballrooms too the main story, weaves them seamlessly and effortlessly as core problems faced these dynamics. I loved the slow wooing and the hesitancy all the characters had with one another as they felt out what kind of future they had. It's my favorite so far with its real world issues of finding some one (or some ONES) to love you for who you are and the aspirations you have. Some one willing to support you through your dreams and visa versa.

Sweet Mamma Jamma! 🤯 Did I stay up all night to read this book? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

From the very first chapter I was hooked! I really liked how Hannah Haze wrote all of the characters. Specifically that each guy in the harem had distinct personalities, idiosyncrasies, and personalized relationship with Rosie the heroine. 😍

I could not put down In Deep. This Sweetverse was insanely satisfying. Rosie and her boys (Seb, Zane, Duncan, and Ollie) gave me butterflies more than once (if you know what I mean 😉 ) . There are multiple scenes that I just canNOT get out of my head (like all of Zane's excitement and persistence! He was my favorite character. Totally golden retriever energy! 😍 ).

Come for the adorable plot, swoon worthy alpha babes, but stay for the spice, nesting, and cute banter.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Stars

Super sugary sweet “omegaverse”, using that term lightly as the dynamics are sooooo off in this one, read that had decent promise but missed the mark. 85% of this book is sex, which is to be expected with omegaverse, but I needed more of everything else. The relationships are quick, the OWD random and unsatisfying, the characters are pretty one sided, the alphas are basically betas with knots, and the dynamics between the H’s and h are sooooo freaking off for an alpha/omega book that aside from the heat stuff this doesn’t even feel like an omegaverse. Well, I guess the claiming scene was okay too but just Seb’s bite. The others were just afterthoughts after his 😬. Just one example of how this book wasn’t very balanced when it came to the H’s. She has like two scenes with poor Ollie the whole book lol.

I did finish though and did enjoy it for what it was: a instalust college RH with an astronomy loving h and four dudes who make up a college rowing crew that is training and competing for a spot in the Olympics. But readers take note that this is not a true omegaverse read!

Light and fluffy low-conflict omegaverse college romance. Like, almost every point of conflict that came up was then immediately resolved. And the one conflict that lasted more than a chapter or so was just dumb:

Anyway, I did like the detail that pack formation was rare and kind of looked down upon societally. Of course any conflict about that is resolved fairly quickly, because the D is just that good. The D solves everything. Anorgasmic? This D will make you come. Never had a heat like a normal omega? A shot of vitamin D will bring that on.

Why did you read this book?
It was a decently rated reverse harem.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an ebook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Fantasy, Romance, Adult

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILER
I think my favorite part of this book is when she gets tricked into the first date.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who like erotica, omegaverses, and reverse harems.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILER
Meh, this was like any other RH omegaverse. I liked the fact that the omega decided she would continue to further her education into a STEM field and not become barefoot and pregnant. The rest of the story is predictable and has some light drama and misunderstandings. It was a nice easy read. In my opinion, it lacked passion. I felt like the several of the intimacy scenes were rushed. I would have really liked more from this book.

Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? (If yes, does the author add something unique to them?)
It’s an omegaverse, so the omega, alpha, and heat troupes all apply.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
There are several very detailed scenes. Menage, Male on Male, light BDSM, and Knotting.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
It starts a medium then goes to hot.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender?
There are four love interests all male. Zane, Ducan, Ollie, and Seb. All of them alphas.

EXTRA
Any trigger warnings?
Mental Health: Emotional Abuse, Controlling Parents, Panic Attacks, Non-consent behavior
Sexual Content: Explicit Sex Scene, Masturbation, Blowjob, Sexual Predator,
Other: Slut Shaming, Body Shaming, Female Oppression,

This is an enjoyable OV read with characters who treat each other with respect, which is a huge plus for me when it comes to OV romance. I loved that the setting was a college and that omegas are accepted there (points to Haze for a heat being an excused absence for both alphas and omegas!).

There were some jarring elements, though. For a college student desperately concerned about her academic performance, Rosie suddenly goes to spending all her time with four alphas. There are indications of classes and tutoring, but when did she get to study with the demands these guys placed on her?

I felt the same about the alpha pack and their rowing. They seemed to do crew and fool around with Rosie, and when the heck were the classes and studying that led to these men being high academic achievers (while aspiring Olympians, which strained credulity)? While I understand that a romance's focus needs to be, you know, the romance, I needed a bit more to indicate well-rounded lives for the protagonists.

Rosie, in particular, lives in fear at the beginning of In Deep that she's going to be subsumed by her omega nature if she's with an alpha. But then when that actually starts happening to her, she's blasé about it. Even her best friend says that she barely sees her anymore because Rosie is so involved with her alpha pack. I would have liked to have seen Rosie be more challenged by this.

So it's great to see a positive approach to OV relationships like Haze writes here. I just wished, as students, that a bit more was given to balance out the OV aspects with academics.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book is a well written OV reverse harem with characters I really liked. I guess that I do not read many books with young adults in college. The fact that this is about an Omega finding several Alphas is what caught my eye. I am glad that I did not pass it up because I really enjoyed it. Rosie has different life and career goals than are expected of her. Zane, Ollie, Duncan and Seb are doing things their way also. Their story has courage, strength, stubbornness, conflict loyalty, misunderstandings and friendship. When you add in the omegaverse aspect thing can get pretty steamy. They develop individual connections as well as a group. Ironic that Rosie has four relationships when she had such an aversion to being tied to one.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
