After the Seelie king Torin nearly froze me to death, I plunged through a portal into my true home. Turns out, my hometown is a wild Unseelie kingdom known as the Court of Sorrows. When Torin follows me and sees my new horns, he quickly realizes that his intended bride is an enemy of his realm. In fact, his name for my kind is "demon."
But even if I have the horns of an Unseelie, I'm not welcome here, either. Queen Mab and her monstrous soldiers are delighted to torment us, accusing me of being a traitor. If we want to get out of the Court of Sorrows with our lives, the only hope we have is to stay as close to each other as possible--even if it means fleeing on horseback and sharing a bed. Every moment is bittersweet since it could be our last--and Torin is condemned to kill anyone he loves.

This is prob closer to a 2.75 star rating. I don't know what happened between book one and two. We went from a competition to win the kings hand to toxic families, torture, a revolutionary coup, and two more POVs that seemed unnecessary. Thos second novel felt a bit all over the place and toe, doesn't really relate to the first book.
⭐️ 2.5 - Okay, I was super let down by this book because I really enjoyed the first one. Honestly, a big part of why I disliked it came from the fact that I couldn’t stand this dramatic adaptation. I think that if I physically read this book, instead of listening to it, I would have given it ⭐️ 3. Between the creepy Obi Wan Kenobi voice and all of the weird inhaling noises, it was just a big no for me. Overall, I do think the book was rushed and jumped around from character to character at weird random points. Please if you start this series, for the love of God… don’t listen to the dramatic adaptation of this book!
3 ⭐️’s from me. Really it should be a 2 ⭐️, but the ending and Graphic Audio production bumped it up. This book (and duology) was really just a second rate romantasy. Nothing was unique, different, or stood out. Nothing about this duology was a shining moment.
I wouldn’t recommend to a friend. Nor would I ever do a re-read. The first book was better (slightly), so I wanted to find out what happened in book 2. Well, it was a lot of running away from danger, getting caught, fighting out of danger, then repeat. Big boss battle at the end.
The writing could’ve been better, along with a stronger, more sophisticated plot. Sorry, just not for me!
"Ava, you have made me thoroughly undone in every possible way. I am returning to my kingdom a ruined man. But with you, I don’t think I have a choice. You’re a command I can’t refuse."
Review: I enjoyed this, though not as much as the first book. It had less humor and more politics, and for me, the humor was what made the first book so enjoyable. The tension between the main characters also seemed to fade, and the pacing felt a bit off. However, I did appreciate the addition of more POV's, and the conclusion to the story was perfect.
- Romantasy - Modern world / Fae world - Moody Fae King - Funny FMC - Secret deal - Marriage competition - Frost daddy - Slow burn
The ending of this book brought this back up for me in terms of the rating. Otherwise I might not have finished it. The romance between the two main characters seemed superficial and sort of forced and very much rushed. I have never sped up a book before on audible, but I did for this one for most of it as it was all over the place in terms of pace.
It’s predictable and rushed. There is 0 chemistry between te main characters. They go from hating each other to loving them unconditionally within seconds.
The voice actors and producers are doing magic with what they have to work with, but even them seem confused at points.
Named characters we've never seen before just appear? Like... when did you get their name? Then they're in mortal peril but they decide to joke or fuck as if they were chilling. There are so few descriptions I'm not surprised the author seems confused as where they are or what they're doing. This is a hot mess. The court of shadows? Wasn't it sorrows? Who knows. Who cares.
Starving? Still not eating. Also, it seems like the author discovered water while writing this book 😂.
Also: Bitch becomes queen to stop winter, then doesn't stop winter and people are ok with it...? Is there lead on their water?
The curse is gone... without killing the source?
Anyway...
Listened at 2X and had to skip part of the 2nd chapter because listening at a regular speed would've been too much. The second star is for the graphic audio making it tolerable.

Not as good as the first one, but still decent! I wasn't so surprised at the turn this took – I kind of figured out quite early in the last book that everything wasn't as it seemed with Ava.
A really quick, fun and cute romantasy! Definitely worth a listen on Graphic Audio!🧚🏼♀️
Think of a modern Hunger Games, Divergent, and Acotar mixed together and you get Ambrosia.
The second installment of Frost and Nectar was really good. I listened to the Graphic Audio dramatized version and the voice actors did really well. Definitely fell in love with Torin’s voice haha. Like in the first book I do wish it was longer so we can feel more of a connection to the characters and get more of a backstory. I also like the modernity of the world. At first I wasn’t sure about the pov from Shalini but I ended up liking it in the end because we got to understand her more and I absolutely adore her and Aeron 😂 definitely underrated characters. The character growth was good and it was good to see each character find out what they were looking for and how to get it. Ava is definitely a bad*** fmc.
I enjoyed this one much more than the first one. Ava was a lot less annoying and the plot had more substance. I didn’t love when it randomly shifted to Shalini’s POV but I understand why it was necessary to show what was happening in the Seelie Court. I wanted to know what was going on after Torin and Ava left but I didn’t really care about any of the side characters (sorry 😅) so I definitely would have preferred another chapter from Ava or Torin’s POV at the end instead of another Shalini chapter.
Basic plot: After nearly getting frozen to death by Torin's curse, Ava finds herself in unseelie lands, trying to survive.
We get to find out quite a bit more about Ava's background here. Like the previous book, this one was fast paced for the most part, but there were long periods of waiting. Both Ava and Torin just kept getting their asses handed to them, which does add urgency and realism, but also didn't always add to the plot. There were some convoluted justifications for things, and while I get that fae don't think how humans do, I feel like this book pushed that envelope a bit far.
Excellent dramatization of book two of the Frost and Nectar duology. For a reading book, I would have awarded three stars, but GraphicAudio helped elevate the prose. As I am aware, GraphicAudio does not read every word of a book they choose to dramatize. Thank goodness because I was irritated enough by the fill-in material of Ava's girlfriend and other areas that dragged a bit. I can only imagine how much I would have skimmed if I had read it. So, a good ending for this duology as it drew various dangling bits together and ended with lessons learned and main characters surviving. Phew.
STOP THE INSANITY!! 🤪 Look - I love GraphicAudio (most of them) - but I was losing my mind with the over the top obnoxious smelling/sniffing sound effect!! Also, I’m not 💯 sure but there appeared to be many voice inflections by the FMC that indicated ‘do-overs’ which is a first as I’ve never heard this before.
The story itself was ok but I feel the true meaning and and wrap up was a miss that left me 🤨🤔
I read this via Audible. It was the first "dramatized" book I ever read. I do not think it was my thing so I did not take that into account in my review. I actually picked up this version by accident, so it was a learning moment for me (lol). Generally, I like the story in this book. It had a creative world setting, the MC is fairly well developed and I tend to really like the "fish out water" trope.
Actually didn’t really enjoy the story. The graphic audio was similar to the first with the odd background music and a lot of sniffing and weird breathing that I couldn’t get on board with again. But my main issue was the plot line. We’re gonna get captured three times? Then the “battle” isn’t much at all? I expected better because I enjoyed the first book story line pretty well. Was honestly just ready for this one to be over with.
Ima be real, I listened to it while working so I didn’t pay that much attention The problem wasn’t the dramatized adaptation, it was just the writing I guess Idk, the problem might be me, still thought the story was far fetched and everything got magically resolved at the end for no fucking logical reasons
3.5 ⭐️ Again this rating is based on the dramatized audio version. I did enjoy this but I feel like I would have had a wayyyy better experience if I had read the book instead. Which I will eventually. The voices of all male characters ruined it the audio for me. They all sound dowdy and unappealing.
Didn't like it nearly as much as I did the first one. Some things got answered but I still had a lot of questions. The cycle of events in the Unseelie was just neverending, and I felt like nothing really happened in a book made sense.
Lots of action and twists. There were dark moments and there were many tender ones. I loved it when the protagonists were finally able to be vulnerable with each other. Definitely a fun series to read!
This lost a bit of the fun from the first one in the series. It was still enjoyable though, and the plot made sense. The twists were a little predictable, but overall it was a nice story that didn't make me think.
I was surprised that I liked this book more than the first. I’d give this more of a 3.5. The fighting scenes were great I liked her powers. Charming little duology I’m not mad I picked it up. Cute and funny.
