Many enjoy the Huntingdon Hart Casefiles (which are Quick Reads) just as they are. For those who want bigger doses of Hunt, the Casebooks are recommended. Each Casebook consists of a number of connected Casefiles, often with additional case notes or other background material added. A new Casebook comes out each month.
This Casebook contains Hunt's First Three Cases, a Sneak Peek at Case #4, and a special gift for those who enjoy thrillers.

I love reading fun cozy mysteries about quirky characters as well as more thoughtful books - and visiting a travelogue of exciting faraway places - every place mentioned in any of my stories is somewhere I've lived, or visited often and know well.
I write the kind of books I like to read. If you've seen the books I've reviewed here, then you'll know that's a pretty eclectic collection!!
Like Màiri I love eating pizza and ice-cream and drinking cappuccino with friends - or even drinking cappuccino alone at Barnes and Noble (my accompanying friends are between the pages of the books I'm reading there)
Hunt is an ex-spy and current go-to guy. Intelligent, suave, handsome; he claims to be all this and more. These three short stories cover his first three cases. It took me a while to grasp the humour, but once I did, I really enjoyed them. Cleverly written and interesting cases, and who wouldn't fall for a man in love with a much older woman? Very enjoyable.
The Case of the Missing Peke: Huntingdon Hart Investigates: Casefiles of an Occasional Detective (Huntingdon Hart Investigates: The Casebook of an Occasional Detective 1) , my seventh enjoyable short (30-page) read from author Kate Darroch that I finished in less than half-an-hour.
The Case of The Manic Magpie: Huntingdon Hart Investigates: Casefiles of an Occasional Detective (Huntingdon Hart Investigates: The Casebook of an Occasional Detective 2), my eighth enjoyable short read (27-page) from author Kate Darroch.
The Case of the Clever Cat: Huntingdon Hart Investigates: Casefiles of an Occasional Detective (Huntingdon Hart Investigates: The Casebook of an Occasional Detective 3), my ninth enjoyable short read (24-page) from author Kate Darroch. As I’ve now read nine of this author’s books and enjoyed then all I’m on a mission to read all 10 of her books I already own and see where I go from there. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Death in Paris: Màiri Maguire Cozy Mysteries (Màiri Maguire Cozy Murder Mysteries Book 1) next on my TBR list and I'll have to get The Case of the Dazzling Duck: Huntingdon Hart Investigates: Casefiles of an Occasional Detective (Huntingdon Hart Investigates: The Casebook of an Occasional Detective 4) to finish reading this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.
HUNTINGDON HART INVESTIGATES: The Casebook Of An Occasional Detective by Kate Darroch. Follow Huntington Hart (ret. MI5) through his first three detective cases. These stories are quick reads, which I expect the other case stories to be as well.
Huntingdon Hart has taken a job to find a missing Pekingese, easy peasy, right? Along the way he adds finding a diamond broach to the job as he attempts to win the heart of his lady love, Duchess Sophia.
I've enjoyed each of the cases stories Hunt has investigated so far, even though there is a lead into the next case to solve.
These stories are strictly first person point of view with a lot of inner thoughts. I would love to hear what they were thinking about Huntington, especially his frenemies.
If you want something to read that doesn’t need a lot of thought, these will entertain you.
I've enjoyed each of the 3 cases Hunt has investigated so far, they are quick, clever reads. However, this box set is perfect for a binge-read to appreciate Hunt at his best. He's smart, good-looking and a clever sleuth. He's also hiding something of a bigger picture - the organisation he works for is a mystery. But ... His best characteristic is his love and adoration for the mature woman! I can't wait to read more about him and his cases, bring it on, please, Kate!
Ms. Darroch writes clean stories with likeable characters that aren't stuck on themselves. Good humor, interesting and easy flowing story lines that are relaxing, not taxing.

All Souls Night in Glasgow - A quickly read short story with interesting story lines and interesting characters. There is a glossary included for those confused by UK/Scottish vocabulary. Source: My library. 4*
Death in Paris - A quick, relaxing read with interesting story lines and the same characters as in All Souls, set in the 70s. Source: My library. 4*
Huntington Hart Series: Hunt's First Three Cases Book Set - A simplistic tongue-in-cheek series that is quickly read, a few pages each, with each story just flowing into the next. You will need the next book to follow up on the set up. No brainers, more focused on humor and a younger man's quest for the affections of an older woman. I am not sure if Hunt has a previous book/series from the bits that sometimes accompany a new character. Source: The author, ARC. 4*

Huntingdon Hart ex spy is now a private investigator. These are shorts from his casefiles of which these are three of. Thriller type cosy mysteries that are fast paced intriguing and fun with a little intelligence thrown in . Well written -well goes without saying when it carries Kate Darroch on the cover, entertaining stories.
A tongue-in-cheek humorous British cozy, with a main character who believes he is a cross between James Bond and Sherlock Holmes. I’d say his opinion isn’t shared by as many people as he believes, but that’s part of the humor. Lots of fun, but not much of a plot.
Hunt is such a character. He can find just about anything. When solving his first case, he falls in love with an older woman. She sees him as the hired help, not as the passionate man he is. He solves three quick cases and tries to win his lady love in these stories. Hunt is lots of fun.
