"Eclipsing memories" is primarily divided into two parts; "Reflection of life" & and "whisperings of soul". "Reflection of Life" and "Whispers of Souls" are literary works that delve deep into the philosophical essence of human existence.
In "Reflection of Life," the author skillfully mirrors the intricate tapestry of life's journey, prompting readers to contemplate their existence and connect with the universal themes of joy, sorrow, and the profound beauty of the ordinary.
Conversely, "Whispers of Souls" explores the ethereal realm of the human spirit. These works remind us that life's essence lies not in grand moments alone but in the subtleties and mysteries that define our existence.
"Eclipsing Memories: A Journey Through Time and Self" is an anthology authored by Sumaira Shamim that delves into the intricacies of life, interpersonal relationships and experiences of life. The anthology is divided into two parts "Reflections of Life" and "Whispers of the Soul," and both these parts are written in a clear vivid language.
The first part, as the name suggests contains poetry about reflections on life and life experiences. Each poem was based on diverse human emotions like love, family, femininity, love for the country and invokes a sense of familiarity and belonging.
The second part was my favorite and is dedicated to different things that the author feels attracted to. Written in the form of letters, this part contains letters addressed ranging from concepts like infancy and unborn friend to a black cat and her favorite chair. The letters were so simple yet so powerful.
What I loved the most about the book was the simple langauge that was used. Despite having very simple language, it overall weaved a really interesting tapestry. I really liked the The tone was very casual and candid, and I enjoyed reading it.
However, I did feel that some poems could've been even better with a little more work. Nevertheless, I had a great time reading it.
Been reading this book And I've to say what an amazing experience it was. I am still at a loss for words when it comes to describing this work. I’ll start by saying that the message was so true all throughout these pages. It is a book for struggling souls trying to balance their life. The range of lessons shown in these hits its mark time and time again, and makes this a widely accessible piece. The author's words seamlessly fill one’s soul with the comfort it is craving, as well as the healing you didn’t even know you were in need of. This book is embedded with wisdom to motivate and elevate you to help you think and grow wholeheartedly. The first time I read this book I found it so deep and relatable. It's so beautiful and rare to experience something like that. this book itself is a journey. I found myself more than once and over and over again as I read through the pages and so will you. It is always a pleasure to read Pakistani writers. The words written will represent you and will speak for you and in it you will find your voice and the words you are unable to express but can only think of. You will see your reflection and recognize your truth in a way that will encourage you to be more of who you are and what you stand for and less of what others think you should be. I appreciate such thoughtfulness. This book is tied in with finding that when everything stops and out of nowhere appears to be unique. It is tied in with tracking down your own enlivening. It has been beautifully written. It is undoubtedly a must read for all.🩵

The tone of the book is a blend of reflective, celebratory, and melancholic. The writer used vivid imagery, powerful metaphors, and unique expressions that contribute to the overall beauty of the writing. She brilliantly convey complex emotions or ideas with clarity and finesse. I love that she uses the rhyme in the poems that adds an extra layer of artistry and inviting readers to savor the beauty of language and rhythm.
Eclipsing memories is an assortment of poetry, letters and articulated pieces of writing that invoke reflection and resonation.
It begins with praise of God, who has the ultimate authority of everything in existence, including that which lies beyond our recognition.
The author has penned down some heart-felt commendations for the people who influenced her growth and nourishment.
The book further goes to discuss themes of childhood, misconceptions due to innocence and our precious land. The latter part consists of letters to various elements that have contributed greatly to the imagination and creativity of the author herself.
---------------------------- I genuinely enjoyed reading the entire book. It was a delight to have some of the contemplative and wistful portions to resonate with me. Nothing elevates a book's value like relatability:)
I loved the latter part of the book more, maybe because I'm not that fond of poetry. But considering it's the author's debut book, she's done a remarkable job for which I'll applaud her. And of course there's always room for improvement when it comes to creativity 😊.
To look at certain things from a perspective is an experience I'd never miss out on. Which is why, I'm really glad for the opportunity to review this book.
My favourite pieces were, Amber Embrace: A Time Unwound, Intelligent Calculations, and The Enchanted Garden.
There were some printing errors and some fonts weren't theme cordial. If corrected, the would indeed improve.
"Numbers and figures, they recite, But understanding? Now, that's a fight.
They rattle jargon like a hollow drum, While true wisdom remains far from some."
Consisting of two sections, Eclipsing Memories presents emotions of a poetess about different human experiences. First section mainly contains poetic pieces while the second part has letters written to different people, animals and things. There is beautiful description of familial love, friendship and community. Some poems conveyed conflicting emotions of adulthood so well. I love how poetess focused on themes of loss of innocence, art of understanding, shallowness of humans, fears and resilience of women and stereotypes prevalent in society.
Some poems needed more work because they felt incomplete. If author would've thought a little more, she could have concluded them well. I came across some grammatical errors as well which could've been removed through editing. Despite this, I enjoyed reading this book and Sumaira really does have potential to be a great writer! My favorite writings are Amber Embrace: A Time Unwound, It Lives Through The Years, Intelligent Calculators, and The Black Cat.
In the realm of introspective literature, these writings on time and self offer a profound exploration of the intricate relationship between our ever-evolving selves and the relentless passage of time. Through evocative prose and contemplative poetry, the author delves into the complexities of self-discovery, growth, and the profound impact of time's inexorable flow. This collection prompts readers to ponder the timeless questions of who we are, and who we aspire to be, making it a thought-provoking journey through the corridors of self-awareness and temporal reflection. While all of them have their merits, the one that resonates with me most is IT LIVES ON THROUGH THE YEARS.This poem beautifully captures the essence of friendship and its enduring nature. It highlights the harmony, understanding, support, and cherished memories that make a friendship strong and lasting. The message that friendship lives on through the years is heartwarming and relatable. It's a lovely portrayal of the timeless bond between friends.

Review: Immersing myself in this book was a beautiful experience. The author has very meticulously weaved every poem. The themes and emotions explored in the poems made them more intriguing. Imagery has been beautifully used and the rise and fall of emotions evoke in readers, a range of feelings from joy to introspection. The poems were all well-crafted with exquisite choice of words and diverse themes.
A well-written self-help book by my fellow bookstagrammer. I don’t usually read self-help books because they aren’t interesting but this one really hits the mark. The author keeps her tone polite while addressing some harsh realities. She pens down her raw emotions that are not only inspiring but also motivating. The way she talks about her parents, her sibling, her city, and our country, motivates the struggling souls and cherry on top, there are short inspiring stories at the end with illustrations. Everything is so beautiful.
