I didn't read the blurb because this author is an automatic read for me. Plus I quite enjoyed book 1, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway if I did because I would have read this one anyway. Unfortunately I didn't like this one as much as I anticipated.
Grayson (30) & Jovana (22) meet at a bar and have a one night stand, he immediately gives her the boot after and she's super pissed, rightfully so. Flash forward 2 months and a scandal has his company, Hooked, needing her help and so they enter into a contract for a fake relationship.
Normally I don't mind the fake relationship trope, but I much prefer both parties to fully be on board with the plan and that was not the case here. I wasn't feeling the reason, or the big push, for it. I am, however, happy with how it played out in the end.
Playboy, anti-relationship, Grayson, is a big time a-hole and I wasn’t feeling him at all. Once he figures out his feelings for her he's all in, though, even if it takes an awfully long time.
I gotta hand it to Jovana, she stuck it out and in the end gets what she wants, but man oh man, he was difficult to deal with. I really enjoyed her relationship with her parents and her bff, Sloane, which showed more of her sunshiny character.
Overall, this was well written and certainly what I've come to except from this author, but I just couldn't get behind the content or the actions of the characters. Although this one didn't fully work for me I'll for sure read the next book (and anything else she writes), which is will follow single dad, Holden. Edit - just found out there will not be a book 3 anytime soon, poor Holden 😭

Being a social media influencer, Jovana could improve Grayson's image. So they start playing the long game - dating, getting engaged and eventually marrying. But what happens when they both start to catch feelings? Will their relationship end at the end of their contract - one year or will they try to make something real out of their relationship?
I have read Marni Mann's books in the past and enjoyed them! I did like the set up for Mr. Wicked and the banter between Grayson and Jovana was fun. I do feel like the romance was very insta-love which made their relationship not so believable. I wanted more angst between the two and the ending felt rushed. Overall, this was a quick read I'm looking forward to the other books in the series.

Wow. I don't usually leave bad reviews (really, I am super easy to please), but this was awful. First, the characters. The FMC is an annoying influencer who falls in love with the MMC after two minutes and gets mad at him for not loving her back immediately, while the MMC is a misogynistic A-hole and an irresponsible idiot. Of course both of them have supermodel good looks because of course she has to be super hot to attract the MMC's attention.
The fake relationship scheme is absurd. Who are these so called friends? Is this company really going under because of a PR not-quite-scandal? Are they really forcing him to get married because he was living it up in a yacht? Could any of these characters be more douchey?
The writing itself was meh. I am an avid romance reader, and I don't mind repeating the same tropes and storylines if the plot is good and the characters are likeable. In this case I believe we can be spared the vapid billionaire romance.

MR. WICKED is an elite grumpy/sunshine, fake relationship (PR nightmare), reformed playboy and heroine that doesn’t take shit from anyone. I ATE THIS UPPP!

Grayson and Jovana spend a 🔥 night together, but he makes it ABUNDANTLY clear afterward that whatever they shared was only for one night. Jovana blindsided by this leaves his condo waving 🖕🏼 at him.
Imagine her surprise when she finds out that Grayson, who by all accounts is basically deathly allergic to commitment, is responsible for the marriage arm of Hooked and is on a yacht with 6 women toasting “long live bachelorhood”. Not a good look for Hooked. And the only way to fix it and help the company…you guessed it, get married. To whom? I’ll give you one guess….
Idk how @marnimann does it but every book she writes I absolutely love! This is the second book in the Hooked Series- a series of interconnected standalones. And let me tell you, Grayson is the biggest alphahole, but Jovana doesn’t back down to him and I love it!! Thank you so much @marnimann and @valentine_pr_ for the advanced reader copy of this book. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes. Usually the tension and miscommunication bubble over quickly for a fun story. Unfortunately I couldn’t get over the MMC. He didn’t veer from his asshole tendencies and it made me lose interest in the book.

He's the epitome of a rich bachelor, enjoying his money, success, women and freedom. But what happens when there is someone that makes him feel EVERYTHING and all he wants to feel is NOTHING?
Grayson is our second man of the Hooked series, but don't worry, this book completely stands on it's own and you can easily start with this one. He's seen what a woman can do to a man and the last thing he wants is more than one night with any woman. When he and his co-founders of Hooked are at their local bar, he spots a dark haired beauty that he knows he MUST have.
"From the moment I saw you across the bar....I couldn't stop thinking about how you would taste..."
"No date. No small talk. No wine, even. Just my body."
"I'll give you wine, if that's what you want."
"Is that another compromise?"
"For the record, I don't beat around the bush, Jovana. I stomp right through it."
Grayson is a man that knows what he wants and he goes after it. And even if he lets Jovana know exactly what HE wants, she also knows what SHE wants and she thinks she can get it. She's fiery and can go toe to toe with him in every way. When their one night is done, she's the one leaving, middle fingers in the air because although he was truthful, there was chemistry and there was passion between them that he could not deny. But deny it he did. Because that's what Grayson does. One night. No repeats. No attachments. But can Jovana play his game??
Shortly after their one night, Grayson puts his successful company in a bad predicament that is making their dating app tank. He is a PR nightmare because of a video gone viral claiming his allegiance to being a bachelor. The only thing his partners and PR company can come up with to change the narrative is for him to "find love" and get married. The ultimate bachelor that never wanted to marry is being forced into a life he never wanted for himself.
I had to laugh at the fact that Grayson's antics got him into something he never wanted, yet he was forced to play the game. And that game led him right back to Jovana. She was quite a bit younger than him, but I loved that Jovana knew what she wanted out of life and never gave up on Grayson or her ultimate goals. She basically forced his hand and made him open up to trust her and build a sort of friendship with her. I loved how easy their relationship became after he realized their chemistry was real and Jovana wasn't like anything he'd experienced before. Not only did they have sexual chemistry, they had an easy friendship. Jovana just had to melt the grumpy bachelor down. And to see the grump fall for the woman that always knew they had IT? Perfect!
Mr. Wicked has everything we've come to love in Marni Mann's books. The immediate attraction, the heat, the chemistry, the witty banter and the successful alpha male being brought to his knees by the equally powerful female. Jovana and Grayson are FIRE, but it was those in between times that melted me.

Marni Mann is one of my favourite authors so I was excited to read this and it did not disappoint! As always, the author delivered an outstanding story that held my attention from page one right through til the very end.

Grayson is an alpha billionaire and the CEO and one of the founders of Hooked, a popular national and international dating app that matches you up with your perfect match depending on what you are looking for. However, he doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t hook up with any women using his own app. He is well known in the city of Boston, you could say he is somewhat of a celebrity so when he and Jovana, a sassy, smart and funny waitress and influencer cross paths they end up having a one-night stand. Grayson is honest with Jovana and informs her not to expect anything more than a one-night stand and as expected and completely understandably, she is insulted and quite hurt.
Days later Grayson finds himself in the media and it’s not for good reasons. He has been spotted and photographed with six women on a yacht… Which now has caused a shitstorm for his dating app and subscriptions are declining. To try and control the situation, a PR fix is needed and Grayson and his best friend (Laura) have come up with a plan. He needs to get married and show everyone that his app works. The thing is… Grayson would rather swallow razors than get married. He is trying to find this plan as much as possible but he is coming to realise that there is no other way to save the company.
When Laura and her friends meet Jovana, they see that she is the perfect fit and she can see that there is an undeniable attraction between her and Grayson. Can they convince Jovana to go along with this crazy plan?
I’m not going to dive in any deeper… But I will say, the chemistry between Jovana and Grayson is obvious. You can tell they are meant for each other with their witty and playful banter. It takes a bit for Grayson to let his guard down but when he does the connection and attraction he has with Jovana is pure and I loved reading that side of him.
All in all, this book was amazing, but I expected nothing less from Marni. She’s an amazing storyteller and continues to show her amazing talent with every book she releases.
I highly recommend this book!

This book is a fun, quick read. I adore a grumpy MMC, and Grayson was perfect! It picks up right where the first book left off, but you can read it on its own too. I enjoyed watching Grayson and Jovana's relationship grow. Grayson was all grumbles at first, but Jovana stuck with him, even if she kept her feelings under wraps. The chemistry between them is off the charts, and Grayson's mouth might make you blush. But Jovana is sweet yet strong enough to handle him.

If I could give this book and the Wicked Stars I would. I devoured this passionate and insatiable romance. Marni Mann literally slayed! The perfect read for all my fellow smutty romance connoisseurs.

This is book 2 in the hooked series and while it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a standalone, these characters are so lovable why not read the whole series!

Frankly, I was totally hooked by this ridiculously entertaining story as Grayson navigates his new reality, and comes face to face with what he detests the most!
I absolutely loved these characters, they were perfectly imperfect and in their quest to fulfill an obligation a series of misshaps made their story shine.
Well paced, funny, heartfelt and angsty, Grayson learns some very poignant things about himself and Jovana as he enters his package deal with Jovana. We learn so much about Grayson and his painful past that really showed his view on relationships. He may have met his match in Jovana. Tough, sassy, sweet and humble she believes in love and she’s about to change the stubborn ways of Grayson.
But is attraction enough?
Oh there’s an added twist that I never saw coming and it added another level to this story that made us even more delicious.

I'm afraid this one just wasn't for me.
I absolutely loved the premise. I love the tropes for reformed playboy and marriage of convenience etc, but I have to admit it was a struggle to get through it from the very beginning.
I understand it had to be established that he's a playboy with his own agenda but I just found him extremely unlikeable. I looked hard for redeeming qualities to give him a chance but there was nothing. I'm really not sure why the FMC was so enamored with him because I found him full of himself and cocky, but not in an attractive way. I fail to see how he was "charming" at all.
Not for me this time, I'm afraid.

This is the first book I've read by Marni Mann, and although 'Mr. Wicked' is the second in the 'Hooked' series, it can be read as a standalone. The series revolves around three best friends who create a dating app called Hooked.
This book follows Grayson, one of the Hooked partners, who has no interest in finding love, whether through his own app or otherwise. When Grayson is caught contradicting the purpose of the app with his bachelor lifestyle, particularly given that he created the marriage arm of the app, the PR firm suggests he settle down in a fake relationship and marry a woman to prove his belief in Hooked.
Enter Jovana, a social media influencer and waitress whom Grayson met months prior during one of her shifts. Although their connection was immediate, Grayson was only interested in a one-night stand, while Jovana sought a meaningful relationship.
With a proposition she cannot refuse, Jovana agrees to marry Grayson, hoping to transform their fake marriage into a real one, believing that Grayson harbors deeper feelings for her.
Despite being nicknamed 'Mr. Wicked' due to his mischievous antics, Grayson finds himself genuinely caring for Jovana, who has a kind and nurturing personality, albeit sometimes feisty. And even though their chemistry is sizzling, the in-between moments where Grayson starts acknowledging his true feelings for her make his reputation redeemable.
I highly recommend the audiobook version narrated by Andi Arndt and Ryan West. They both do a fantastic job at bringing the characters to life. If you enjoy books featuring alpha billionaires, age gap (M30, F22), fake marriage, and spice, you will definitely enjoy the blissful 12 hours of this audiobook!

Mr. Wicked is the second book in the Hooked series and it does not disappoint. Grayson is the ultimate playboy. He doesn’t do commitments and lives for one-night stands. But, when he meets Jovana, all bets are off. She is the plot twist he never saw coming. Jovana’s bright attitude and witty banter are a force to be reckoned with and Jovana isn’t afraid to go after what she wants.
Together, Grayson and Jovana had the most incredible and explosive chemistry. But, don’t let that fool you, because Jovana isn’t going to fall for Grayson’s charms a second time around. If he wants more from her than what they give to the public eye, he’s gonna have to work for it. And boy did I love seeing Grayson work for it.
Marni Mann never disappoints with her sinful alpha male characters and the women who tame them. Mr. Wicked provided the perfect blend of steam and spice. If I had to make one complaint, it would be about the whole marriage of convenience aspect of this story. I do feel like that solution was a bit drastic and that there could have been other solutions for the PR nightmare Grayson created. That being said, it did the job and added some great tension to this story.
All in all, Mr. Wicked was a terrific read from beginning to end. I loved getting lost in these characters and can not wait to read the next book in this series. If you’re looking for a sexy, alpha billionaire, grumpy sunshine romance, you’re definitely going to want to get your hands on this book.

Marni my spicy queen never fails. I loved Mr. Hook Up and I couldn’t wait for Grayson’s story. The grumpy/sunshine trope is my jam. I devoured this book and fell hard for this alfahole.
Grayson Tanner is the co-founder of the Hooked dating app. He has found himself in a PR crisis. This billionaire bachelor was captured on a viral video toasting to bachelorhood on a yacht surrounded by six ladies. He swore he would never get married. Not a good look for the creator of the marriage arm for the app. This incident harmed the company. They started to lose members at a rapid pace. The PR team had to step in to change his image in order to help save the company. One way to change his image would be to get married. The woman they want him to marry was a one night stand he had recently. Jovana Winters is someone he can’t seem to stop thinking about. She’s a romantic at heart. Can she change his image and his feelings about marriage?
I loved Grayson and Jovana’s banter. She knew how to handle him. When Jovana would talk back ,he didn’t know how to react. Those moments were priceless. Grayson ,with all his talk and Alfa male status is a big softy when it comes to her. I loved those moments. Now, let’s talk spice. The spice hits in true Marni fashion, right at the beginning. Damn these two were hot together. I can’t wait for Daddy Holden’s book. Bring on the single dad. I’m excited for it.

I was happy to be able to do another early read for Marni. The Hooked series is so fun! I loved Easton but man oh man Mr. Wicked aka Grayson was the alpha hole I didn’t think I needed!

These two were so much fun to read. From the moment they met, you felt the chemistry between the two of them. I loved their relationship together, how they understood each other, how Jovana was able to show Grayson how it felt like to be truly cared for and how even a friendship with her was worth it. She was truly different. Ugh. Grayson Tanner has won over my heart, sorry Easton!

This was a first time reading Marni Mann for me, and I am hooked! I love her writing, she drew me in right from the first chapter.
Grayson is a sworn bachelor due to what happened to him when he was a child. Jovana is an eternal love bug. When their eyes meet across the room, there are instant sparks, let the flirting begin. But after hooking up with Jovana, Grayson informs her that she shouldn't expect anything more than just the one night. She is understandably insulted and hurt, because she is the everlasting optimist and believes in love.
When Grayson finds himself in a situation and needs Jovana's help, she turns the tables on him and starts calling the shots. He's confused about why he finds that so attractive. He finds himself feeling things that he's never felt before. He quickly realizes that she's nothing like the others. “Her expression intriguing. Her eyes enticing. Her lips taunting. This woman had powers like I’d never seen before.”
I love the story of how Grayson comes around and realizes that Jovana really is total sunshine and that she brings out the best in him. The chemistry between them just get stronger with each interaction. The dialogue was funny and their bedroom antics were spicy.
I'm definitely going to be reading more of Marni Mann in the future.
