"A cast of characters that keep you laughing, guessing, and turning the pages."
From Book A girl would have to be crazy to move to a town that had once killed her long-ago grandmother for being a witch. Especially since attitudes toward witchery haven’t changed much for some residents. But the quaint New England village with its historical stone bridges and tree-lined streets could charm the sense out of anyone, including Hazel.
Besides, she’s good at keeping secrets, and the quiet town is the ideal place to open a tea shop. She swears she won’t stir up trouble…in a cauldron or otherwise, while she quietly digs for information about her grandmother.
Then someone poisons her customer’s husband, messing with her perfectly-laid plans, and she ends up on the suspect list. To make matters worse, the handsome police chief, who doesn’t like witches, decides he likes her.
Lucky for Hazel, a snarky orange tabby, who may or may not be older than time, and a ghost from the past reluctantly agree to help her. She figures she’ll be fine…as long as they discover the murderer before she’s forced to cast another spell.

I like that Hazel was kind but also determined to see justice done. The fact that Peter welcomed her assistance was different and cool. She was inquisitive and they bounced ideas off each other. The fact that she was a witch was something she had to work through before any relationship could work. Share not share? Is he a witch hater or can he be open? That was a tough one to navigate while trying to grow her business and fit in with neighbors who may or may not have witch blood. She made some mistakes but her heart was always in the right place.
Good character development over the string of stories. Interesting choices as to who gets killed and who is accused. I enjoyed Peter becoming more fully himself, but thought Hazel was so annoying as she pushed into every investigation and just had to know everything and thought she could help solve it all. I liked the witch environment and was interested that some witches could join the healing of the town, and others just couldn't. And there was no need for book 12 -- a new character to kill. Overkill, methinks, just to show the ghosts playing? Nope.
I got the series because it was inexpensive, but got hooked! Each book keeps you wondering and wanting more.As one book ended, another started (following the same story)I would recommend the series to anyone who likes mystical and mysterious stories.I can’t wait for the next series to come out.I’m going to buy them!
I have read many stories about witches and witchcraft. These stories are the perfect genre to entertain. I enjoyed this series and may read some of this authors other selections. If its your first time reading Cindy Stark, then enjoy .
Yes, this book is full of witches and magic but it's not only relevant around Halloween! Lots of twists and turns develops wonderful rich characters. I highly recommend this complete series.
This was an excellent series! It was a new look at a horrible time to be a witch. I enjoyed the story as it expanded as the characters came together. The bottom line, I loved the series but thought the ending was a bit weak.
I love all the Cindy Stark series it's like returning to visit friends every time I open the book. I would love more of her paranormal series but I'll be happy with any of her books. Thank you for all of the hours of enjoyment you gave me Ciindy.
Wonderful story, kept my attention to the point I couldn’t put it down, it has humor, drama, mystery and is well written. Loved this series, can’t wait to get into the next one.
Fabulous mix of plot ideas with magic and mystery at the forefront. Enjoyed the history aspect of witches haunted and persecuted, having to hide and keep things secret. That some of those doing the persecution were actually guilty of the very thing they accused others of. Interesting with wonderful characters some quite quirky and others ruthless. Great reading.
