Wars broke out among the Lycan packs, and King Marco had to assign new Alphas to the fallen packs to re-establish peace. His son, Lycan Prince Nico De Lucia, would be one of the new Alphas but was required to first find his fated mate within the next 2 weeks or his father would choose a mate for him. Nico has been dreaming of his mate, yet he cannot seem to locate where she is.
Police officer Carrie Mansfield, a human, is having dreams also, not understanding what is happening to her. When the police converge on a warehouse, Carrie gets mortally injured in the gunfight by trying to protect a rookie officer and the only way to save her is for Nico to bite her and have her turn into a Lycan. But without the Lycan Council of Elder’s permission, he can be severely punished and banished. Will Carrie accept what has happened to her? Will she survive? Will Nico’s family be able to figure out why his hateful relative Nonna Clara, the grandmother of the king’s mate and a member of the Council of Elders, is trying so hard to force Nico to stand trial immediately while he is fighting for the life of his mate?
Nico and Carrie are both dreaming of their mated bond but something is clouding their identity and location. Nico has been given a two week limit on finding her before his father will pick someone for him. When she is gravely injured on her cop job, he feels the connection even stronger and is able to find her before she dies, but biting her and making her lycan is the only way to keep here alive. With his uncle fighting against his father's rule, will they be able to survive? Will she be able to accept the transformation? What of their other powers and his mothers foresight? Can she bring her background ideas into play to help her new family? The characters are terrific, with a great world, personalities and backstories that bring depth to them. The storyline has multiple plots running so it is fast paced with marital deadlines, frightening events of revenge, a strong mate story, and the start of a new generation. Lots of drama, danger, hidden agendas, battles, twists, secrets, pledges, revelations, lots of steamy moments and more that kept the pages turning. Absolutely a must read. Fantastic, addictive series.
