ੈ✩‧₊˚ my thoughts
This was definitely brain rot.
You get what you ask for, I guess. I was looking for a brief brain-rot type read, and OV books usually do that for me. This was not great, though. The concept, I think, worked well, but the execution was terrible. And the more I sit with it, the angrier I get about it.
The character relationships felt so incredibly rushed. I understand that with scent matches, relationships can move fast, but falling in love after 1 interaction is a bit much for me. Also, I hate when authors insert the motivations of certain characters into the thoughts of the MC when they hardly know one another; it just feels cheap and like lazy writing.
The FMC also hardly seemed affected by her trauma. I find it hard to believe that someone can be held captive for 7 years, be beaten by foster parents and then be this happy-go-lucky type person with basically zero traumatic effects. I wish the results of Blake’s traumatic past had been handled better, because what is the point of writing the traumatic past if it doesn’t in any way affect or inform the character’s personality or actions?
Also, why was everyone crying all the damn time? Emotions are great, and I love me an emotionally available man who isn’t afraid to cry, but this pack was sobbing every few pages, and it took away from the true emotions of the scenes. If everyone cries about everything, is anything really worth crying over?
And don’t get me started on the huge plot holes in this book. To start, Hades and Blake supposedly meet in foster care as 10/11-year-olds, and at some point, young Hades thinks that he has met his pack. Later on in the story, it is revealed that . But that literally makes no sense in the story because A) Hades and the pack don’t meet until he is about 11ish, B) they meet because of some cross-country hockey game or something, and C) Hades is adopted by Rook’s mom the night that Blake goes missing. This is just one of the many continuity issues in the book.
Also, how is it possible that . Like, how stupid do you think your readers are?
This could have been better than it was. With several extra rounds of editing, I think the concepts in this book have potential, but it needs some serious work.

DNF at 24% // I have DNF-ed like less than five books in the last three years, and I typically love omegaverse. This book feels like it was written by a teen trying to get in every joke and pop culture reference they know.
I'm rating this because I read 65% and that was ENOUGH. Read all the other 1 & 2 star reviews. They were not wrong. The people that genuinely liked this book, I question what on earth led to that conclusion. Just...bad.
This was a really enjoyable Omegaverse novel. It had some basic tropes, but was written well, and introduced us to likable characters.
**SPOILERS**
Blake an Omega meets Hades (“D”) in foster care when she’s 10 yrs old. They become best friends and are inseparable considering how awful their living conditions are. The foster family is abusive and terrible. Hades manages to escape, thinking that his best friend Blake is right behind him, but later learns she didn’t get out of the home. He’s reassured however when his new adopted family inform him that they have a family who is willing to adopt Blake and he’ll get to see and “stay” with her. You see, Hades, and Alpha already knew, somewhere inside him, that Blake was “his.” Sadly, Blake disappears and seven years go by, all the while Hades, who now has a pack, has been searching the world with his pack for this missing girl he fell in love with as a child!
Through strange (but predictable) circumstances members of Hades Pack locate and discover Blake, who has been held captive for seven years by an Omega Trafficker (a beta that sells Omegas!). He has kept her hidden and when she reached the “right age” he drugged her to induce her heat! With the help of members of Hades Pack she escapes and ends up in the “laps” of the Beaumont Pack (Hades pack) the Alphas (and one Beta) who saved her.
The rest of the book is a sweet journey, with some angst and drama. Blake realizes quickly that she is a scent match to the Beaumont pack and she lets them claim her. She also comes to discover that her new pack are best friends with a pack that turn out to be her long lost brothers, seeing as she was kidnapped when she was just a young child.
I enjoyed Blake and her guys. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, which included her brothers and family and other operatives at the rescue company that they all own. I just thought that the last third of the book felt REALLY RUSHED! There was so much to get through, since Blake’s kidnappers hadn’t been located, etc. but everything comes to a head at the end WAY TOO QUICKLY!! And also leaves loose threads everywhere. Yes, I realize that even though this is a standalone novel, there is another book coming that will probably be about Blake’s friend in captivity, Cove, and hopefully, Rook’s uncle, Roman (who I really hope is not actually dead) and potential pack! But even though there is another book coming out…there were too many loose threads left hanging or tied up way to easily and predictably in “Forget Me Knot: Billionaires of Lockwood book one.” I would’ve preferred that some of the drama in the book to have been shelved (not included in the novel) if it wasn’t going to be explored thoroughly and explained in a manner that was satisfying and made sense! As I said, it really felt as if the last third of the book did its best to gloss over the “drama AND trauma” of Blake’s kidnapping and subsequent rescue and reacquaintance with her Pack, family and friends. Especially considering one of the families friends had an Omega daughter who was awful and evil, and helped (even inadvertently) in Blake’s kidnapping because she was jealous of Blake. Victoria was literally mentioned one time in the middle of the book via a phone call, and then when introduced “for real,” got a quick catty introduction to Blake and her guys, never to be read about again until THE VERY END OF THE BOOK when it’s discovered to “helped” aid in Blake’s kidnapping. It just would’ve made more sense if she had been “fleshed out” more as a villain. She was just such a basic and BLAH villain, one we didn’t even get to read much about, even, that it was almost as if her character wasn’t even necessary!!
The same can be said of Blake’s main tormentor, her foster father. We “hear” a lot about him, but barely get to read anything about him or “know” his evil character because he’s just kind of “thrown into” the novel haphazardly! It makes her (Blake’s) subsequent capture and being auctioned off (in a house where she befriends another Omega, Cove) really anti-climactic! Seriously, one minute she’s blissfully happy with her Alpha, the next we’re knee deep in a decades long (perhaps longer) trafficking ring that hasn’t really been explored at all throughout the book except from a couple mentions, and then one BIG scene at the very end of the novel.
So, in conclusion, the book is an easy Omegaverse read. It has romance, steamy scenes, all the predictable themes in an Omega novel, like pre-heat, heat, nests, knotting and claiming bites, but you still finish the book not feeling fully satisfied.
The writing itself wasn’t bad. The story idea wasn’t bad. The lack of attention to detail and the gaping plot holes were…. Astounding.
She’s abused and drugged by a foster parent, but refuses medical aid and police intervention.
She’s never told that Rook is wealthy, but within a day he’s praising her for not ever asking him for anything, despite his wealth.
She informs Rook she would never take advantage from him, and she has her own money saved. What? From where? You’ve been held captive in a basement since childhood. You doing pyramid schemes, selling lip gloss from the basement?
What bad guy that kidnaps you at 11 holds off from sexual abuse until the magical day of your 18th birthday? That’s just not realistic.
Where did she get the backpack she escaped with? Again, she’s been locked up since 11. No school. No social events. No reason for them to buy her school Why was it assumed she was kidnapped at 11, immediately? Foster mom said neighbor informed her she saw FMC run out of house at midnight. This would require neighbor to back up foster mom’s lies to the cops and lawyers right? Except neighbor doesn’t get questioned. So Hades just buys what the abusive foster parents say without issue? And knowing they are abusing, how are they not the number one suspect for foul play?
The interplay between the lead characters comes off as young teenagers. Knowing OV books are super steamy, reading characters whose speech and thought patterns indicate extreme youth makes me super squicky.
Plot: Blake ends up in foster care at a young age and the only ally she has in the house is Hades. Hades knows he'll present as an alpha and he suspects Blake will be an omega - his scent match. When he goes out one night, he's arrested and subsequently adopted by his rich friend's parents. As a result, he isn't able to get Blake out of the foster house, and she is stuck there for the next seven or eight years, locked in the basement and held captive. She escapes on her 18th birthday and is immediately found by two alphas who just happen to be Hades' packmates. From there, she must learn to be a part of a pact while staying out of the danger that is coming for her.
Commentary: Problems: Blake manages to save up money? She tells one of the guys that he doesn't have to buy stuff for her because she has some money saved up. But she's been held captive essentially since she was 10 - she certainly hasn't had a job. She later mentions that she has been stealing small amounts of money from her foster father and hiding that away. It can't have been much and she would never have had access to a bank or anything like that. What a weird way to show that she wasn't with them for their money. The very fact that she had no idea who they were was enough to show that.
She has been held captive for 8 years with the threat of turning 18 over her head - we all know what her foster father intended for her. Despite that, she falls into bed with the heroes with no hesitation.
There is no rhyme or reason to what she does or doesn't know. She implies that she learned as much as she could even though she couldn't go to school. Ok, understood. But her understanding of the world was still really patchy and none of it made sense.
These early-20's boys are already packed up and happen to be billionaires. Theyre billionaires because one (more?) of them had a trust fund and they started a company. But the company is involved in charitable work and it has managed to make billions? And they're less than 25 years old? I mean, it can happen, but not really.
The plot was stuffed full. There was a cascading series of coincidences that smack of Wattpad - her new mates just happen to be there when she's escaping; they just happen to be best friends with a pack of brothers who happen to be Blake's real family; one of her mate's uncle was the one who rescued her when she was little after she was in a fire from her first kidnapper's home; her new mortal enemy (another omega) happens to know her second kidnapper (foster father) and where the pack will be taking her - it doesn't end until the last page.
The characters were all really childish - and no wonder - they were all 18-25! But giving them these dangerous situations and traumas, and still having them sound like college kids at a frat party, was a strange choice. It was so new adult that it hurt, despite the multi-billion dollar business and the double kidnapping that should have had multiple law enforcement agencies and mega-healthcare up in their business.

HOLLY, OMG GIRL! First of all, thank you so much for the ARC! I need everyone to run, and read this book! Did I mention it’s available on KU????
Why did no one tell me about Omegaverse books!?!?!? I thought we were friends! This is the first Omegaverse book I’ve ever read, and now I’m hooked! 😮💨
I am unwell after this book. Those scenes had me like 🫠. A literal puddle y’all! The Jacob’s ladder piercing????? And then another of the guys having piercings as well????? I died and went to heaven! Omegaverse heaven!
“I know you can’t mark me or bond me like you can with the others but I needed a mark, too.”
The writing in this book was amazing! I was hooked from the very beginning. The chapters are all in a different character’s POV, but I didn’t feel confused even once! I could read each character in a different voice in my head, and all the different POV’s just made the book so much greater for me! I personally love getting scenes in different perspectives, and Holly did a great job making them feel different based on which character’s POV we were reading.
I love how all of the guys each got a first with the FMC! In books with multiple partners, it can be hard to let each of them share their own personal moments together. That wasn’t the case with this book. I didn’t feel like one of the guys had more time than another, and I loved it! I also always have a favorite guy in reverse harem books, but I truly cannot choose a favorite. All of the guys were so amazing and made me fall in love with them! I refuse to choose, it’s impossible for me.
“How does he taste shortcake?” “Wanna taste?”
“What can I say? My pack is hot. A little heteroflexibility never hurt anybody.”
The plane scene with Hades, Blake, and Achilles????? I need holy water! I also need to find a way to jump into this book, and experience it for myself.
“She’s like the sun to your rain.”
“I loved you first, but they loved you before they knew you.”
This book was seriously so amazing! If you’ve never read an Omegaverse, please let this be your first! I promise you will not regret it. If you have read an Omegaverse book before, I promise you’ll still love this one! Do yourself a favor and get this book! I cannot wait for the second book in this series! 2024 please hurry!
I have struggled on what to say about this book, because I think I went into it expecting a more deep emotional journey. And what it is is quick, light and very convenient. Is YA omegaverse a thing? Because this would fit this.. It also has a lot of very contradicting plotholes.
I dont mind a quickly developing story, but it felt like it was intended to be emotional, but it was all just too fast, everything was said and not shown, everyone was SO understanding and perfect that it really lacked all depths, even in the characters.
There were some major things that just made no sense. She has been kept in a basement for seven years, and not even tried to escape? Even if she could have easily fit through the window and she had nights out on the roof? Its just odd. Wouldn't take a chance on the street or hope the police would help her, be better than wait around in the basement to turn 18?
And he just kept her locked in there? He was molesting another child before getting his hands on her (which he seemed to have wanted), but he just kept her around down there, not doing much to her if anything, waiting for her to turn 18? Why not sell her or start breeding her when she started presenting as an omega instead. Thats so confusing to the storyline.
And she could go from 6th grade, be locked in a basement and then go straight to college? I dont care how rich they are, she should seriously be struggling to catch up to where she should be academically, not go take dual advanced degrees?
Everything else is just very convenient. That everyone they met was family in some way or the bad guys, and memories surfacing timed perfectly to the story. Got it all nicely wrapped up at the end though.
But mainly what I was missing was the depth. She had zero struggles after her imprisonment, went right out and lived her best life, and good for her. She was up to date on current affairs, just dont understand sayings etc. And trusted everyone from the start too. I just wanted more of the emotional side, a bit less lighthearted and more ...grit?
I would still read more in this series, but now my expectations are adjusted and I know what kind of story I'll get.
Fantastic premise…sloppy/poor execution. I’m sorry…you took your newly freed from a basement omega to WB studios in a hoodie…and only panties underneath? And didn’t notice? And then ripped them off her, bonded with her in a dark corner and took her straight to your HQ in a hoodie…and nothing else? That is beyond ridiculous. Like you took her to meet her brothers WITH NO UNDERWEAR ON?! That’s crazy.
The whole Victoria storyline should have been cut and the Phil/omega trafficking storyline should have been expanded and explained better.
Also I’m from the south but “y’all” cannot be on every page. The constant nicknames/nickname changes between 6 people quickly got old and annoying to the point I could barely tell which alpha was actually which alpha, not to mention who the beta was. By the end of the book I could name maybe two of the alphas and the beta in the pack.
Despite several problems in different areas one area where the author knocked it out of the park, especially for a first time author…was the spice. Top tier scenes all around and they got better as the book progressed. [which saved the book from landing on my DNF shelf]
I do have high hopes for this author and hope the writing will grow with each new book. I’m cautiously looking forward to the next book despite the pitfalls of this one. Hopefully the over the top soap opera stuff will be drastically toned down and smoothed out, which will greatly help the flow of the book.

I fell in love with Blake & her guys 🥺❤️
If you want a medium-fast burn Omegaverse romance with a mix of sweet/swoony MMCs and hot/dominant MMCs look no further.
The story follows Blake and her journey and her 5 guys but really is so much more than that. It’s about finding her freedom, learning about love, and what it means to feel safe and part of a family. Blake’s journey is both heartbreaking and beautiful. It was really interesting to see her character growth and watching her learn about the world after being sheltered most of her life.
I love the guys 😍 : Rook, Kai, Kas, Hades, Achilles
Achilles might be my favorite though! As the only Beta he has a unique role in the pack and acts as the stabilizer in the pack. How he cares for Blake and is so in tune with her emotions and needs is heartwarming. I loved their scenes together.
Daddy Rook 🔥😍 (that’s all I need to say)
The TWINS (I’m a sucker for a set of twins and Kas and Kai definitely deliver)
Hades 🥺🥹 - my baby Hades is who we meet first as he meets Blake when they are children through the foster system. He endured so much which we get a glimpse of in the beginning of the book.
The spice is out of this world 😍 Holly definitely delivers here. For those who have read A/B/O books, their is knotting, and c*ck warming. Absolutely love that we got a mix of group scenes and individual moments between the characters. There is not full on M/M.
Overall, great debut novel from Holly! Excited for the next book in 2024
Blake, our FMC has been through so much in her life. Blake’s story is both heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. My heart broke plenty of the time hearing of her past & trauma but I loved getting to see her growth, not only with herself but with her men as well🤍
I absolutely fell in love with Blake and her guys!! Rook, Kai, Kas, Hades, and Achilles are out of this world. I loved getting to see the connection with Hades & Blake from both childhood to adult hood. Kai & Kas I mean come on who doesn’t love twins?😏 Daddy Rook definitely has my heart🥵. Finally Achilles, man how he cares and is so in tune with not only Blake’s emotions but the guys as well has my heart fully. The spice??? omg🔥 just read & find out I promise you will not regret it😉
I absolutely cannot wait to see more of the O”Conner brothers in the next book, Knot a Chance🤩

I absolutely loved this debut book of Holly’s! I haven’t read many omegaverse books, but this one got me hooked!
This book is about a girl named Blake, who has a not so good past and childhood. When she turns 18 she’s able to get away from the bad things she has experienced and immediately gets swept away into all the things she’s been missing. This is when she meets the five loves of her life. They quickly show her what life should be like, all while someone or something is trying to take her away from them. But these men aren’t letting that happen. Also… the spice 😏🔥🔥🔥🔥
Like I said, this book was so great and I read it in one day! It had my undivided attention until I was done with it. I think every omegaverse lover should read this book immediately.
Congrats Holly on your debut, thank you for letting me be an arc reader! I cannot wait to see what happens next in book 2!
This is everything you want in an omegaverse! I LOVED some more unique aspects brought to the genre. This honestly might have my favorite beta ever. And there’s a certain twist on a stereotypical alpha that is just so fun to explore.
Reasons I loved this: -the FMC is forgiving. I tend to get frustrated when main characters are resistant just for the sake of conflict but Blake is not that way. She is so understanding which I loved that it could keep the relationship developing and their connection growing. -the romantic suspense element did not overtake the relationship or bonding on page time. You still get all the swoony moments. -this is a total comfort read. If you’ve ever wanted to read someone who basically has never been taken care of for most of her life finally get the love and care she deserves this one is for you. I just love all that coziness.
Thank you so much to Holly for allowing me to be a beta reader! The changes to the official ARC were well done. I’ve loved every version of this story so far and it’s an amazing addition to the genre.
Hades was the only person to ever care about Blake but after betraying her, Blake is lost and alone for seven years. Now, Hades is back and has pack and they all want to take care of her. Blake is physically safe for the first time in her life, but what about her heart? Can she forgive Hades and accept the rest of his pack?
Forget Me Knot was my first ever omegaverse book and it will definitely not be my last! Holly Ranger created characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. These men will do absolutely anything to take care of their omega, even through all the twists and turns this book has. I loved the aspect of them all having different scents and together smelling like a bakery. I’m so excited to see what else Holly writes, especially for this series!
***I did receive this as an arc but this is an honest review***
I loved this and I don’t often say that about omegaverse. It wasn’t super dark it was quite sweet with the instalove. It wasn’t just the usual ov female sub 💩. There was a 🌶️ scene with an alpha male having the female omega domme him(yum) please include more in future books like no one writes this and it’s 🔥 I like that the mm that was in there wasn’t about side relationships, they were all about the fmc. You don’t see that much in rh anymore, too many times I’ve seen a fmc turn into a third wheel. I really enjoyed this 10/10 recommend. There was daddy stuff in this book but the author wrote it in a way that didn’t push it too far and creep me out…you pull out binkies or diapers and no thank you lol
Ok, so, for an insta lust/love book, it was cute. Overall, for the base story, I liked the concept...
What I didn't like would be the extreme disrespect of attention to detail.
The timeline was rocky.
The attention to names, was atrocious.
There were other issues that I mentioned in my updates but, I have to stress to all authors, paying attention to details is paramount when telling a story. Some ppl can just gloss over mistakes but believe me when I tell you, there are many ppl just Luke me that prefer consistency. And some may not be as nice as I feel I am about explaining the issues.
However, that all being said....
It WAS.a.cute story and I MAY be interested in reading the next one.
If you’ve ever been a victim of DV/Ab*se, these are the kind of men you want by your side. Five beautiful men rescue Blake from her years of captivity and they are the most supportive, loving group of people. They’re patient and kind, and let her blossom on her own while taking care of her the whole time. I love it when big alpha males are absolute saps for their woman. I obviously had my favorite (Daddy Rook🥵) but I loved each and every one of their personalities. Blake was also a great character. Despite being in an ab*sive situation for so long, she was also compassionate and comforting to her boys. The best way I can describe their relationships is healing love, and I am obsessed. The story was engaging and interesting and I can’t wait to continue reading the next book, Knot A Chance, which follows the O’Connor brothers!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 Forget Me Knot by @authorhollyranger Omg this book was so good! I hate that I had it in my library for so long and let it slip through the cracks. I cried multiple times reading this 💜 the pack was so freaking good to her! This was my first Omegaverse book, and I was actually really surprised by how much I loved it! I am definitely going to read more! Can’t wait for the next one so I can see what happens with the O’Conners! 💜
FMK completely blew my expectations! I loved every second of this book and could not put it down once I started! You are immediately sucked in from the beginning with a heart wrenching prologue of Blake and Hades being separated by a tragic event and rushing to know happens next. The story then follows 5 (oh yes 5!) men and Blake in their journey to heal the past and find out what it means to meet your perfect match(es). The men are quite literally perfect! And Blake even though she was a victim for basically her whole life she still had the sass and dominance that I love to see in a FMC. I wish this story was longer so I could be in their world and surrounded by all their delicious scents!
FMK is filled with mystery, suspense, and spice; lots and lots of amazing spice!
Holly, thank you so much for sending me an ARC and congratulations on your debut novel, you did an amazing job!! 💕
Okay! Where do I begin? If you love a why choose trope with a bad ass FMC this is a book for you. Blake is nothing short of someone who defies odds and is a survivor. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, I never knew what plot twist she was going to throw at us next. This book made me laugh, cry, and want more. All the characters were well built and I swear as I was reading I could smell each and every one of them. Those men were nothing short of a dream, and each and everyone had a personality so different but complimentary to each other. They built something beautiful out of something so tragic. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Holly puts out for book two. The theories have already spiraled in my head. 100/10 recommend you read this book!
I really enjoyed this story! I’m not very well-versed in the wide world of Omegaverse, but this was a great one to start with (and what a debut!) 💕
The suspense, the healing, the SPICE (lawdddd). Who doesn’t want five sweet smelling perfect men?? The characters were all caring and funny (and spicyyy 👀), and I’m so curious to see how the next book will go!
Read this if you like: •Omegaverse •Scent Matching •Why Choose •Found Family •Hurt/Comfort •Multi POV •Good Girl
Thank you to Holly for gifting me an ARC for an honest review! 💕 I’m so excited for you 🤗
This is a lovely sweet omegaverse (with dark undertones) from a new author. Great standalone read. Holly Ranger will go on my automatic ‘to read’ list now.
I received an advanced reader copy for Forget Me Knot and I am in love. These characters are so relatable and just lovely. Holly totally outdid herself with this book. Her writing is top notch! I am beyond excited for the sequel. Blake and her crew are the epitome of fated mates. They made me feel all warm and fuzzy! Congratulations on a slam dunk!! You’re gonna do big things! 🖤
I hate not finishing a book but this one just wasn't good. I got about 60% into the book before I had to tap out in annoyance.
Although I liked each of the Pack members individually, I found that Blake was a bit off in all aspects. She was locked in a basement for 7 years, yet somehow showed no signs of trauma at all. Nobody just comes out of an experience like that without having some sort of trauma or ptsd, and yet there she was acting fine and dandy immediately with only the rarest moments of where she gets triggered. She's also just way too open emotionally after having just met a group of strange men, since her captor was a man. That plays into the unrealistic portrayal of her showing basically no trauma even immediately after the fact. I'm all for an insta-love storyline, but with the focus of the plot being around the fact that she was kidnapped and held captive, I think there should be some better character growth on Blake's part about her opening up to being loved.... not her literally throwing around "i love you's" within a few days of meeting the pack. Also, she's 18 and has been locked away since she was 11 and immediately pulled out of school since there were no records of her, yet somehow knew references to pop culture as well as words such as "tryst" and other unique synonyms... but didn't know that she shouldn't talk to strangers? She also said that when her captor was asleep she would climb onto the roof to look at the stars... yet she never thought to run away? Her captor kept her locked up and did nothing but beat her up for 7 years until she was 18? None of it made sense. There were just so many contradictions in this it was annoying. Her captor, from a scent/DNA sample was flagged as being a known trafficker yet somehow was not in jail and still able to foster children? At one point there's a huge revelation and Hades is like "yeah do you remember when we were little and our friends twin was kidnapped at pre-school?" which completely contradicts how Hades 1) didn't meet the rest of his Pack until he was 13, 2) wasn't adopted to that Pack until he was 14, and 3) his Pack lives in another part of the country and only met him when they had a hockey game where he was living.... so literally in no circumstance does that quote and revelation make sense coming from Hades because he wasn't around at that age.
There was just way too many contradictions and underdeveloped plot points, in addition to the fact that this felt like it was written as a pre-teen fanfiction with how much absolutely random and unnecessary plot points were added in.... I just couldn't finish it.
Probably written by a teenager. The plot is cringy. If you have a girl whose been mistreated and abused for years she’s not going to act perky and giggly. I wish I could have my 30 minutes back. I just couldn’t finish.
