When I read Murphy's earlier book about the subconscious mind back in my teens, I thought it was a good reminder to sometimes listen to your intuition and reaffirm the power of your subconscious to yourself. I thought it was a good reassurance that your mind doesn't just consist of your conscious observations, but also who you are and the life path your energy emits as well as dimensions you may not be able to observe just yet. When I got to this book, I started questioning its purpose. It is great for those who want to develop a positive outlook and grow spiritually, but once Murphy connects the subconscious to wanting physical things and aspects that will develop your dependencies, I knew it wasn't for me. I guess I like to do the work to make things better and understand how it affects others when it comes to acquiring what I want, but the main reason I want to learn how to use my subconscious is for spiritual growth and to be able to access my pineal gland for the natural balance of neurotransmitters. It is great to keep positive energy throughout your life, but seeing only rainbows and butterflies when wanting things such as "abundance and financial security" while there are pressing problems right in front of our eyes is not exactly what I'd want to train myself to do. It reeks of heathenry and lack of modesty. I absolutely love the notion of keeping your mind clear of negativity and in this world, it can hard to do and take time to master, but don't clear the mind of negativity by ignoring it completely. Having the courage to face it can help someone who could be forced to live in it, such as a child growing up in a war-torn country, famine, or brothel without knowing any better. I liked Murphy's book that I have in Czech and translates to something like "Energy from the Cosmos", but I cannot find it here. I thought that was a better book of his, more on eliminating attachment and freeing your mind. I think that using your subconscious mind to aid your conscious to stay confident and fight negativity in the world caused by problems to address or gain better self-awareness could be a better use of the techniques this book communicates, but we are all different after all and everyone is entitled to their own version of happiness :)
