Out of the half a million writers attempting to write 50,000 words in 30 days for National Novel Writing Month each November, only 10-15% of them succeed. However, these odds can be vastly improved by having the right strategies in place to break the challenge down throughout the month so you’re putting yourself in the very best position to be a NaNoWriMo winner!
‘Write, Eat, Sleep, Repeat…’ aims to help you prepare for and take part in NaNoWriMo in the smartest way possible, and to provide you with the tools and methods you need to give you the best chance of success.
With sections on preparing for NaNoWriMo, staying motivated and what to do if you get behind, as well as real-life anecdotes, motivation, and expert tips from seasoned NaNoWriMo champions, "Write, Eat, Sleep, Repeat" is your passport to NaNo victory.
Emma grew up and lived in London, before falling in love and moving to Wales to marry her own hero. Emma now lives with her husband, 4 children, and many animals a few miles outside of a small Welsh market town. She can often be found in rivers attempting to control two overexcited chocolate labradors.
Seven charming romances are currently available from the Amazon bestselling authoress:
Number 1 Australian kindle bestseller, 'His Secret Daughter', is the heart-rending story of Iris, a woman falling in love with the father of her child. The only problem is she never told him they had a daughter.
The beautiful landscape around her home gave Emma the inspiration for 'The Green Hills of Home', a tale of love and duty in which country girl Gwen struggles to save her family home and avoid her feelings for her handsome, suave new boss. Is he quite all he seems?
'Snowed in for her Wedding Day' is a novella picking up Gwen's story as her wedding day approaches, but with terrible weather, and an absent groom, will she have the happy ending she so deserves?
'Just Desserts' is a novella about confused chef Leah, who's falling for her handsome French co-worker Jean-Claude, but meant to be marrying to Dan in just a few weeks! Who will she choose?
'Her Perfect Hero' was released in July 2015 as 'I Need a Hero', it's a lovely comic romantic read for anyone who's ever searched for Mr Right (and failed to find him!). Despair of Bronte, a romance writer, incapable of spotting when the perfect man is right next door! Full of horses, country houses and dentists, just beware of the foul-tempered cat Mr Darcy!
'Starstruck', proves that falling in love with a rock star is harder than you'd think! When newly divorced Kate finds school friend, now super famous rock star Joseph Wild, on her doorstep, her whole quiet, ordinary life is thrown into disarray. Is the attraction between them enough to make up for all the hurdles they have to cross if they want to be together?
Latest release, 'Her Sister's Baby' is a beautiful and emotional story about grief, the promises we make and finding love in the most unexpected of places.
Emma likes (in no particular order): cake, books, Cary Grant films, prosecco, chocolate, guinea pigs, knitting, quilting and happily ever afters!
What I loved about this book is that Emma wrote it as part of her first Camp Nano about her first NaNoWriMo, it gave the book authenticity. Like I was sitting down with her at her favourite coffee shop drinking a reward coffee and chatting about our NaNo experience.
The hook is organized for easy reference which will be good to get quick answers during NaNoWriMo and most of the tips and resources are in easy to refer to lists, but my favorite tip was in the body of the text about mid-way through...
"...to spend a few minutes at the beginning of a writing session jotting down some quick notes on what you’re going to write."
I've heard this too, but today I needed the reminder. Well, off to write my NaNo project.
Write, Eat, Sleep, Repeat by Emma Bennet is an easily digestible book full of tried and true tips to win at NaNoWriMo, an annual writing challenge where writers strive to create a 50,000-word manuscript in 30 days. This practical guide includes sections on preparation, motivation, and application along with providing inspiration and insights from winners of NaNoWriMo. Emma even shares her own Camp NaNoWriMo writing experience that resulted in this useful little book.
I read Write, Eat, Sleep, Repeat in preparation for my first Camp NaNoWriMo. I enjoyed the format of this book, found several helpful tips, and appreciated the resource section with its lists of general writing books, writing tools, and where to find YouTube channels that host writing sprints. I love Emma's humor, positive attitude, enthusiasm for the written word, as well as her ideas for staying positive and motivated. I think Write, Eat, Sleep, Repeat is a good reference book for beginning writers who are looking to develop a writing routine and for seasoned writers who want to try the NaNoWriMo challenge.
A chatty little guide to National Novel Writing Month with plenty of words of wisdom for those who are new to NaNo and those who, like me, have had a go at it before. Maybe using some of these tips from the author’s experience I’ll have a chance of reaching the target this year? This is a quick read and the author seems to have covered every angle to help you prepare effectively and to manage the ups and downs of the NaNoWriMo challenge. After finishing it I feel motivated and am gearing up for this year’s challenge. Maybe I’ll even do Camp next year for the first time? If you’re at all interested in giving NaNo a go, or just thinking about ways to improve your productivity and writing routine, invest in this guide.
A very handy and inspiring guide to succeeding at Nanowrimo. The perfect book to read while I'm getting ready for the busiest/craziest month of the year.
I've won Nano a few times in the past, but haven't been so successful in recent years. Hopefully implementing what I've learned here will help me get back on track. You have to balance making enough time for writing a LOT of words, while also leaving some time for life essentials (like baking your pet a birthday cake).
A very welcome addition to my writing craft book shelf!
I loved this book - it's full of bitesize pieces of advice, not just for NaNoWrMo, but also for any writer! But, if you are doing NaNo, you'll probably want to check out the chapter where other authors offer their own insights into the craziness of NaNo! Overall a brilliant book - to the point and one I'd highly recommend!
