Join The Bad Guys on their next escapade, coming to Netflix in 2023! In this novelization of the events of The Bad Guys holiday special, there’s nothing The Bad Guys love more than Christmas morning – because while everyone is home opening presents, it's the perfect time to execute a city-wide holiday heist. It’s the crew’s favorite yearly tradition! But when Christmas is unexpectedly canceled, The Bad Guys must do the reignite the city's holiday spirit by giving instead of taking. Based on the bestselling series by Aaron Blabey!
I think I prefer this to what we got on Netflix. In novel form, I could imagine the characters with their movie voices, and there were little moments and bits of dialogue in this novelization that were not in the Netflix version. The little note pages, like the list of names they had workshopped for the name of their holiday heist, or each of the characters favorite snow cone flavors, were fun touches. There was also an exclusive chapter at the end of the book about the bad guys attempting a heist on New Years Eve, which is NOT in the Netflix special at all, and was a really fun surprise. It was a pretty quick read, so I’ll probably be reading this every year. Overall a really fun read, and improves upon the animated version in my opinion.
It was kind of weird to read The Bad Guys without pictures! There were definitely parts where pictures would have helped the story (like when Shark was dressing up in disguises) but it was still easy to understand. There are also a few lists in the book that kind of throw the flow of the story off. But overall, I think this was a nice little Bad Guys holiday story.
