For a fleeting moment, I had magic. Powerful magic. But the Dark Prince’s enemy stole it from me, making them the most powerful being in the world. Their primary goal is to destroy everything close to the Dark Prince, and that includes me.
With the threat of a magicless world, the prince’s life in danger, my loved ones at risk, and the impending destruction of the underworld, we’re in for a hell of a fight.
This time, however, my goals don’t align with the prince’s and he isn’t my strongest ally. It turns out we’re each other’s greatest weakness.
McKenzie Hunter is the author of urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and paranormal romance books. She discovered early that new adventures were just a page-turn away; all she had to do was read a book. She’s had her share of escapades from hanging out with vamps, joining the chaos of shifter packs, creating spells with witches, and avoiding deals with the fae.
When she isn't working on her next book, she’s reading, binge-watching TV, or disappearing into her own world during nature walks (probably on the lookout for magical beings—or maybe not).

This is so not the ending that I think the book should have had. It was a fun read but there where some moments that just lost me and I didn't know what was going one. I also think it need a better ending.
I have enjoyed this series. I have really enjoyed Luna and Dominic. This story from the very beginning was different and what I needed. Just as you think you know what is going to happen, nope something else is thrown in the mix
This was an okay end to the series. I do wish the MFC got to keep her magic but oh well. The traitors got their comeuppance in the long run so there’s that. Overall a mid series to read
Not a very impressive ending tbh. I hate when I read a series that starts off great, then ends on a really flat note.
It literally makes no sense that they would be in love and build a life together when she absolutely abhors his world and everything in it. She ended up being a total wet rag and I just don’t see how he could love her when she literally hates everything about his world and everything and everyone in it. There’s just no way. How boring. He could do so much better!

A taste of magic is an absolutely fitting and fantastic addition to the series! I really enjoyed the evolution of the world building and I enjoyed that it’s unique in its structured and controlled management . I really loved the inner power struggle within Dominic’s family and find his mother quite fascinating. She doesn’t openly display her capacity for violence but it’s inherently present in her movements and calculated actions. I liked seeing that element of elegance and power and think she might be quite terrifying to know what she is truly capable of. Her desire to create creatures is fascinating to me and the fact Luna is now is one of them. What does that mean really. Is she as powerless as she thinks she is?? I do wonder I find it unlikely that his mother would want a weak mate for him and I believe she was enhanced in her rebirth. I also get the feeling that although they find her an enigma for not asking to keep her powers I believe they had had that in place and she will find she isn’t as powerless as she thinks m. Oh how I can’t wait to find out!!! If we are so lucky to get another installment. Oh pretty pretty please 🙏🏻…
I loved the twist as the end with the book and Dominic calling her his little witch near the ending I’m hoping it’s a little teaser for the fact she isn’t magically ungifted and now it’s time to hear the truth. I guess we will hopefully see. Either way they have lived a year making their life work as a couple in both worlds and I think they are both good for each other.
I do feel Luna can’t seperate herself from the world of magic once you step in as a power player unwilling or not it’s hard to go back to normal life. Everything that you know is changed forever and she gave up very little in the relationship so I’m curious to see if that continues or if she will have to fully make a choice to be in one world or the other even if it means loosing Dominic.
Awe the beauty of it all so many avenues that could possibly be explored or not.
It’s amazing as it is even if it isthe end I would be delightfully satisfied because I enjoyed it so much. I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if there are a dozen more books to come so my fingers are definitely crossed. Get the series it’s amazing and you will love it. You can never go wrong with McKenzie Hunter and I highly recommend her books! This is the third book of three in the series so be aware there might not be more m. However as a very avid fan I would love to see a glimpse if the future some day.
"A Taste of Magic" by McKenzie Hunter is a spellbinding and exhilarating journey into a world filled with magic, danger, and a gripping battle for power. From the very first page, I was completely captivated by the intriguing premise and the author's ability to weave an intricate and thrilling story. Luna's journey in this book is nothing short of epic. I was immediately drawn into her struggle to regain her stolen magic and the stakes couldn't be higher.
The plot is beautifully paced, with twists and turns that will leave you guessing until the very end. The author's ability to balance world-building, character development, and an engaging plot is truly commendable.
In "A Taste of Magic," McKenzie Hunter has crafted a story that is equal parts thrilling and heartwarming. It's a tale of magic, loyalty, and the power of choice. I couldn't put it down and think this was a wonderful finale for a captivating series. If you're a fan of urban fantasy with a touch of romance and a lot of magic, then this book is an absolute must-read. I can't recommend it highly enough!
Devious deities, monstrous magicians and more than a sprinkling of spice.
This is the final installment of this PNR series and it didn’t disappoint. If you like your paranormal romance with devious monsters and a dash of spice, then this is a series for you.
Our FMC, Luna, is in a sticky situation. She has no magic; it has been stolen by a powerful Dark Caster who would happily leave the supernatural world without magic. Everyone in the supernatural world blames her. Most of them would happily see her dead, including family members of the Prince of Darkness, who has claimed her as his own.
Will she be able to reclaim her magic or is it gone forever? Can her relationship with the Prince survive? Can she, herself, survive?
I love the way this ended. It could have gone down a wholly predictable route but it didn’t.
The reading order is as follows:
Book 1 : A Touch of Brimstone Book 2 : A Hint of Darkness Book 3 : A Taste of Magic
I am speechless. McKenzie has do it again!!!! Just when I think I’ve read her best work she goes and proves me wrong. This book series is amazing Action packed! I have really enjoyed this series. I have really enjoyed Luna and Dominic. This story from the very beginning was different and what I needed. Just as you think you know what is going to happen, nope something else is thrown in the mix. even if it is the end I'm delightfully satisfied because I enjoyed it so much. I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if there where dozen more books to come so my fingers are definitely crossed. Get the series it’s amazing and you will love it. McKenzie Hunter has penned a quite satisfying conclusion to her Magic of the Damned trilogy. i thoroughly enjoyed Luna's efforts to navigate the maze of political intrigue and violence that the world of magic consists of while being a voice for human safety. Dominic is a dream of a hero, fighting his natural inclination to just kill everyone and end the problem because he values and listens to Luna. The betrayals come hot and heavy, with great twists and turns but Dominic and Luna stand strong together as their love deepens. Can Luna walk away and return to the life she so desperately wants to go back to, even though it means losing Dominic? I love the way the book wraps up all the loose ends so both win and they get their richly deserved HEA.
I loved this trilogy but hated that the MFC lost her magic!! That bummed me out so bad I almost couldn't finish the book! She didn't even try to get it back and was proud of that!! Ugh!! I wanted to throw the whole book away but I was super invested in the whole world! Really a very well written story with great characters! Not gonna lie, I imagined the dad as hades from the Disney movie Hercules. I know it isn't even close to the description from the author but I couldn't help it 😅 All in all, great story, good read, excellent ending. Just so mad about that one part.!!

Definitely an interesting world/setting in this series. It doesn't have the typical interactions between humans and others. I enjoyed how this, the third book, continued to develop the world and how the main character switched between her world and a world where vampires, shifters, etc. exist. I also enjoyed the dynamic between Dominic and his family and how it played out throughout the course of the book.
Fantastic ending to a fabulous series! I have enjoyed this series from start to finish, a truly spell binding experience, full of surprises and I just love Dominic and Luna, they are quite the power couple!
Emoni had me giggling 🤭 at her witty responses and the storyline and action scenes had me captivated. If you like action, romance, magic and surprises that you don’t expect then definitely check these out!
I guess I was hoping she would get her magic back, but I understood her choice. I did love how Dominic played his family perfectly. I also was pissed Luna's brother betrayed her after she trusted him that wasn't cool and hopefully showed Luna her family was prone to the same shit as Dom's on a smaller level. Anyway it was a good ending to the series.
I love this author and her books are some of my favorites! This book for me wasn’t one of my favorites. It was okay for but I didn’t really get into for most of the book although I did enjoy the ending! I felt like I had force my way through the book at some points. I usually finish her books in 1-2 days but this book took me months! I am so glad I finished this series and overall I enjoyed the series. 4.25 stars ⭐️
This was book 3 of Makenzie Hunter’s Magic of the Damned series. I felt so sorry for Luna and Dominic throughout the whole series, but especially this book because every time they seem to have a plan in place, to get out of the mess they’re in, new walls were thrown in their face! And the BETRAYAL of the people who they trusted so deeply was just absolutely gob smacking! I love that we got to see more of Luna’s brother and her BFF more in this book. For a while I was worried that the book wasn’t going to end in an HEA, and while it didn’t end the way I thought it, everything worked out! I also listened to this book through Audible, and again Amelia Hugh did not disappoint!
As the conclusion of the three part series, this book successfully brings an end to the struggle between the dark casters, other supernaturals and the royal family. It is hard to like any of them at times but the author allows you to see the world from their viewpoints. Dominic again is diligent in his quest to keep Luna safe which is challenging. Their relationship continues to grow and brings warmth to the cold world that readers see within the supernatural community.
It's hard to follow what is going on at times. The narrator is not that great with reading multiple characters. I couldn't tell sometimes if it were the FMC or her friend talking when they were having a conversation. The whole series was just a little to slow and on the boring side to me, it had so much potential! The ending was bleh. I struggled getting through all 3 books. What should have taken me 2 possible 2 and a half days to finish, took me over a week!
A Taste Of Magic - McKenzie Hunter Book 3 of the Magic Of The Damned Series
My Review: My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶 Pages: 206 Genre: Fantasy / Paranormal Tropes: Enemies To Lovers, Royal Romance
This is the final book in this series. Luna and Dominic battle together in the underworld but their goals don’t align. Those who stole Lina’s Magic want to destroy Dominic and the underworld. It terrifies Luna to think of them all living openly in the mortal world.
Betrayals along the way shock Luna but her goal remains steadfast. The Dark Casters cannot win.
Along the way Luna also realized she cannot survive living with Dominic in the underworld. Their love can only continue if he is agreeable to living in the mortal realm with her.
To find out who betrays Luna, who wins the war and if Prince Dominic agrees to Lina’s conditions in this series epic finale.
Loved the finale to this series. No loose ends, very satisfying ending, but also left it open enough that it could be revisited in future too. There were plenty of thrills to be had along the way, some good action and no shortage of steam. Can't wait to see what the next series this author releases brings us. 😍
Well, things didn't turn out exactly as I wanted, but I loved the turn of events with Dominics' father! Still, I do not trust Helena, Dominic's sister. I don't want to give antihistamines away, but I will let you know I was so engrossed I finished all 3 in 48 hours! A worthwhile read that you won't be able to put down.
This was a great series and satisfying end. The character and world building was well written throughout. What I enjoyed the most was the atypical ending. On troupe but unexpected directions that keep the integrity of the main character. I always enjoy this authors writing and story telling. Give this series a read, it will be worth it.
I loved the story the author created and the dynamics between the characters. The main character was just a little too innocent in her beliefs for my preference but I'm glad that the author held steady with that view point about humanity and kindness without wavering.
Dominic and Luna want to be together but with everyone wanting to kill or use Luna he is has to dig deep to come up with a plan to protect her and at the same time destroy his father and the Dark Caster. His family dynamics are complicated. Luna's goal is to do what she can to protect humans from the supernaturals.
Luna is back at it with this epic conclusion. Lots happen and the plotter thickens. I am not spoiling anything. Just read and make your own opinions. I would suggest doing a reread of book one and two so that they are fresh in your mind. I’m sad to see this story end because I want more Luna.
The series is getting kind of boring and a little over complicated. I found myself trying to get through it quickly just so I could finish it. I don't think I'll continue on.
Excellent series. Luna and Dominic had a wild ride. There relationship, for all of the Drama worked. Unfortunately greed and power always want to cause hate and discontent. Love and balance still conquers all.
This book was no exception. Lots of ups & downs and thrilling plot twists to keep you turning pages and reading way past the time you should be asleep.
The storytelling is absolutely mess, and it is difficult from time to time to follow what is going on. Moreover, it is a mixture between romantic novels and fantasy that might be left the reader ever more confused of what's happening.
As with every series I get frustrated when I have to wait for the next book. So this time I waited for all the books to be published. I finished the series in 3 days! Love McKenzie Hunter!
Excellent ending book to this series. I love Luna and Dominic's story. A definite adventure, lots of action and spice. The supporting characters are great. Dominic's family do put the fun in dysfunctional!
