“I’m just waiting for the clock to strike twelve and this nice ass Benz turns back into a hoopty.” — Navee Carver Late nights and early mornings are the most important times of the day when you’re on a paper chase. Navee, having just been released from prison, that was all she was on. In a marathon to reclaim the last five years of her life, she is willing to do just about anything to have a little bit of something. Late nights were Dream’s stomping grounds because that was where the demons roamed in fast cars and with a pocket full of money. He was the king of the street night races. With the money came fame and his thuggishly handsome face had him straddling the fence on being a lover boy and just playing games. In her quest to get her life on track, Navee is also desperate to reconnect with the person who last owned her heart, but so much has changed. And when Dream realizes she’s pining for the love of his rival, he becomes a gremlin, bulldozing his way into her life and heart but is it ill intent or something more? When the clock strikes twelve, the money chase begins— and a thrilling game of cat and mouse ensues when Navee and Dream cross paths. Wild friends and demon time binds them, crossing them up at every turn. Long Nights create a bond of lusty motives, and raw emotions. Friendships will be tested and new love revealed. As the saying goes what happens in the dark must come to the light especially when long nights turn into early mornings— revealing everyone’s true intentions.
The story started out really good and then lost focus. I still don’t know what the plot of the book is nor the direction the author was going in with this story.
Long Nights was a fun read! Navee was released from a 5 year prison stint, she reconnected with two of her besties, Candi and Jazze. They picked up where they left off as friends and the fun begins! I was worried she’d fall for her ex but thank goodness, that wasn’t the case. Navee ended up dancing at the club, after she had a hard time finding employment but that opened opportunities for her. Dream and Navee’s relationship was sweet; he didn’t judge her for her past. Dream was such a snack, he was secure in himself and fell hard for Navee. His relationship with his brothers was refreshing and I liked how their personalities were different. Every time Dream called Navee “Dusse” I kept picturing a strong drink- idk why but that’s where my mind went. Maybe the name symbolized how thirsty he was for her, lol! I think overall, the story was entertaining, there was a good amount of drama, laugh out loud moments, and secrets. I would have liked the ending to show more of Dream and Navee as a couple but I enjoyed it. The author did a great job showing and telling the story on page. I could vividly see things as they happened, including Navee as a dancer and how she was a natural talent. On to book two! 🫶🏾
I can definitely see the growth in Evelyn’s work because this one was something alright. My biggest gripe is the Candi and Thyren storyline didn’t make sense. If you knew yall was having threesomes prior to your incarceration what was so difficult to say “Navee I got pregnant the night before you went to jail, I gave the babies up for adoption and I’m sad about it” like the fact they was being weird made it worse than it needed to be. Navee was justified in whooping Candi out cus everyone had been asking her for dang near 10 chapters if she was good and she kept saying yeah so… Jazze nasty and at 25 should be able to tell Natty she ain’t really like him DNF’d book two cus why you in a triangle lmao it’s not even love if you only love one man. Overall all of them was immature things were introduced and went no where. Like did Hannah ever stop being weird? Did Deasia ever get beat up? Why Dream aint beat the breaks off Thyren cus he was pillow talking crazy and embarrassed the heck out of Navee. Overall this just wasn’t the best example of Evelyn’s skill. Especially if you read the 8th Wonder series and came back here to see more of her work.

Author Evelyn Latrice took us pin a drama field, crazy ride. Navee childish a** worked my nerves. The beast that she even entertained that phuck boy Thyren after he left her high and dry had me smdh. She really had a whole lot of growing up to do playing with Dream like he wasn't the truth. Dream was exactly what his brake is💕. I loved everything about him. He was honest, loyal, loving, nurturing, vulnerable even tho his brothers have him ish for it. He fell fast and hard for his Doused, and played no games behind her, not even with his momma with her disrespectful a**🙄. Candi was out there bad, and really allowed her demons from her past to take over her mental. Her finally revealing part of her truth to Navee helped them both heal in a way. Jazze playing with fire messing around Naveen and Drama😔. Both men love her, and instead of her being honest with Naveen about her true feelings she just keeps stringing him along knowing he won't walk away unless she tells him to. It's A Must Read...
First of all I don't know where to begin . I loved everything about this book. Dream and Navee were meant to be. I can't wait to see what's next. Enjoyed it !!
I loved this book. These characters definitely made me mad a lot, but they all redeemed themselves. Navee is fresh out of prison and thought she was gonna get her old boo back, but that was an epic fail. I hated her ex with a passion. Dream was exactly who she needed even though she was scared to open her heart again. Dream was so emotionally intelligent for him to be so young. I loved how he was with Dream.
On to Navee's friends, Jazze and Candi, these two were a hot mess. They were both keeping secrets from her that should've been told early on. I understand Candi keeping her secret, but the way she was coping was not good for her. Jazze's secret wasn't as bad as Candi's, but she still should've told her early on instead of Navee literally catching her in the act.
Lastly, Dream's brothers Drama and Ambiton were some characters. Even though Ambition is the oldest, he had a lot of maturing to do. Him and his toxic relationship with Erika was a mess. Drama was just that drama, and I loved him. He had one sister Candi and then turned around and wanted the other sister Jazze. These brothers were everything, but their mama was trash to the women in their lives.
Overall, I loved this book. This was a new to me author, and she did not disappoint. This was one messy good read, and I loved every minute of it.
This was my first read by this author, and I have to say she knows how to set a story up well. That intro captured my attention. However, the structure of the story and pacing made this an okay read. It felt like too much was happening and some of it didn’t flow well for me. I understood Navee’s limitations after serving 5 years. Yet she was annoying, especially how she reacted to her friend.
The secret between Candi and Thy was odd. The whole sexuality thing- randomly mentioning the women being bi. It was like that nugget was mentioned several times. But it didn’t add any value to the story.
Not sure but something didn’t curl all the way for me. Not sure if I’ll read pt 2. Because I knew Jazze was still playing games and I don’t want to be further annoyed by immaturity.
Lawd these was some little whores in this book🤣🥴. Thyren was dead wrong and Navee was a fool for even letting him get close after everything he did and didn’t do. I’m sorry but I can’t get down with Jazze at all and ion care if my family cool with it who does that 😒 but keep calling Candi a whore. She wrong for playing with Natty feelings though then gonna act like she ain’t know what Navee was talking about. I’m lost on why they kept the secret when it was something that happened with everyone in the room. Dream was cool I love a man who’s in touch with his emotions but I’m with Drama how you gonna walk away from sis like that smh. Deasia and Hannah can kick rocks they both did wayyy too much for their positions.
Well okay, ménage à trois Monday’s & Freaky Friday vibes 🥴🤔⁉️ …Unfortunately, Navee’s character (as well as her two best friends & their social group of acquaintances with benefits 🥴🤦🏾♀️‼️) was insufferable sixteen out of the seventeen chapters of this book “Long Nights (Nights & Mornings - Book 1)”. Thereafter, Navee should have gone to therapy & or even to a women’s transitional residency facility to prepare for and facilitate a smoother transition into mainstream society/her community. How was she expected to be successful without the necessary tools to get acclimated to a modern society & acquired a marketable trade/knowledge or a viable skills set🥴⁉️Hmmm, Navee & Dream’s story was disjointed & just didn’t make sense 🤷🏾♀️‼️
Baby, Listen!!! This here book had me from page 1. Nevea (Cupcake) let love blind her from the realness of consequences. She took a rap for her man, and his dirty behind left her for dead.
When it’s time to for release, we see her best friends Jazze and Candi show up for her in a major way. Yet, their lives are just as mudded up as Cupcake’s. At a car race Cupcake meets Dream and his brothers, Drama and Ambition. Jazze has had dealings with Ambition and Candi with Drama. But Jazze has been sleeping with Cupcake’s brother Natty. Meanwhile, Drama is in love with Jazze. Chile it one a windmill of chaos in this story. I need Jazze and Drama’s story ASAP!
I truly do not like the fact that Jazze was okay with sleeping with a man that her sister has been indulging in rather it was her man or not!!!… My heart broke for Natty when Drama walked into that room!!!.. I’m so happy that Navee although close, knew that her relationship with Thy was at the end of the road and the only reason she should be looking back is to see how far she has left him behind!!!… Dream and Navee are such a cute pair and I love how comfortable Dream is with expressing himself!!!…
Navee's transition was hard, back to life on the outside; however, the love of her friends and family was felt once she touched down. I will say the ending felt rushed. I know there is a part two, so I will dive into that read soon, but everything seemed to be wrapped up really nicely. Like there is an explanation for everything. Either way, I am somewhat invested, so I will see what is next for this world of characters.
I really enjoyed this book, though it was a little bit wordy is some places. It was very interesting to read about life after lockup is for someone in that age group. It made me realize just how detrimental that time of life really is, and just how much of an impact can be made within those years. Thank you for writing this and now I’m about to go read part 2!
I absolutely love Evelyn Latrice. Her characters have a way of cracking your heart open and taking up space that will stay with you always.
While all her books can be read as stand alone, I've found that several are inter-connected. I read Yours to Have Mine to Hold last year. In this book our girl Candy is healing and starting over. I loved this woman soo much and was rooting for her recovery and HEA.
It was in that book where the FMC of Long Nights was put on my radar.
Navee is Candy's childhood friend, and it's mentioned that she had gone to prison for 5 years. So, you know I had to get the tea. Navee is young, so young that her story hurt my heart. She went to prison at 17 and now that she's out she feels lost.
Our boy Dream is just OMFG Yummy. He and his brothers were so fun to see interact. He is a business owner and the leader of a car club.
Muscle cars, street races, strip clubs, and World Star Fights was the vibe. Navee adjusting to the outside, moving on from her ex, and struggling with the decision of keeping things casual or giving it a real shot while finding herself was all enduring.
This is a duet that again can be read as standalones, however I would not suggest it. We get to see Navee's relationships with her big brother, and friends. Dream's brothers and crazy mom are something else as well.
I wanted to ugly cry while reading this. This story emphasis that every woman deserves love, respect, and all the good things.
So many times we block our blessings because of past grievances. The author gave great insight on love and loss and because I don’t want to give too much away, I suggest you read for yourself.
Grace should always be given everyone makes mistakes and struggles with heartbreak or secrets. Letting go of the past can be hard to move forward we need to leave our past to evolve in our future.
The drama! This book was actually really good. A serious plot twist with the twins. Hopefully, she can let go of the guilt. I’m glad that everything worked out in the end
Navee was really a sucker for love and slow to learn lessons from being just that. Dream wanted her and was good for her luckily. I understand her ties to Thy but dang how much will she allow a ninja to play her…
I really enjoyed this book. The ending felt a little rushed but overall it was a good read. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book. I'm loving me some Drama.
