The demon is out of my head, but my problems are only beginning.
The veil between worlds is ripping open, and all kinds of nastiness is getting through. Normally, I'd say no problem. It's our job to keep Salem safe.
But I just found out there's a curse on my coven, and the demon I exorcised is the only one who can save us. Well, he and his two brothers, whom we also have to summon. Yay.
As if handling one Prince of Hell isn't enough of a hassle. But if we can't find them, I'm doomed to murder my entire coven.
The danger keeps piling up, people are dying, and we're no closer to ending the curse than we were a month ago.
Oh, and that demon who swears he can help? He's hotter than hellfire and wants to make me his own.
He says I’m the order to his chaos, but we could be a match made in hell.
USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Pulkinen has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.
Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves red wine and chocolate, and in her free time, she likes to read, take pictures, and spend time with her family.

🙄𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝑹𝑬𝑨𝑫 𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒓, 𝑳𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑵 𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒕? (𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡- 𝐵𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑜𝑟 𝐴𝑢𝑑𝑖𝑜?) The audio was very enjoyable! I'm very glad I listened to it however I think you could read it or listen to it and get the same level of enjoyment.
⚔️WARNING⚔️ -This is a series and must be read in order, the story builds and unfolds as each book goes on.
🎧𝔸𝕦𝕕𝕚𝕠 𝔹𝕠𝕠𝕜 ℝ𝕖𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨: of the 3 book collection- Absolutely amazing! Great narrator and great stories! I loved the inflexions and tones of the narrator's voice, it was refreshing to be able to tell one character from the next, especially male and female.
The books themselves were so well-paced and easy to get lost in! The world-building was clear and detailed and yet it wasn't heavy or overwhelming.
I loved the banter and ex-boyfriend energy of shade, his character was especially strong and I felt and believed everything about him. I enjoyed how cocky he was and his powers and strength really suited him.
On the subject of characters, I felt the character growth throughout the story. Each side character had a role to play they were never forgotten about, they also grew and developed and had a rightful place in the plot.
I hold my hands up as a now and forever devoted fan of Carrie Pulkinen, whatever she writes, I will read.
🌍 𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕 𝕓𝕦𝕚𝕝𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘, 𝕨𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘: Each book had a great feel to it, the pacing was so well done that you were constantly entertained and enthralled by the story. It's med-fast with no slow spots and the spice is well written into the plot. I enjoyed the spicy scenes- of which there were a few, it didn't go on for as long as I personally like (meaning they were just so hot for each other that they got it on rather than a slow tense build up or teasing start) but that's a personal preference obviously. Each scene was hot and steamy and oh so delicious, Carrie writes her spice like you're a naughty voyuer, standing cloaked in the shadows...
Cough cough... OK, moving on, the world-building in these books is authentic and spooky. Being set in Salem gives the reader a basic foundation of the world so no big info dumps or giant chunks of detail are warranted. Instead, we are gifted smooth transitions from one place to the next, and details of the magic being used take up most of the depth. It was highly enjoyable to see the story unfold with such a variety of magic being used and even more so- to have that variety being cast in different ways! I adored the healer's powers and the potions needing to be used, but the tattoos were my favourite magic! There was also powders being thrown and spell work being incanted, plus all sorts of dark and demon magic too!
🧝♂️ ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤: The characters absolutely made the story feel alive, we were taken on a tour of Salem by a wide range of main and side characters and each one held a good portion of the story and had a good reason for being there. Some books I read seem to set up side characters all over the place but don't give them a purpose or a storyline to hold, not this author though. We are introduced to them slowly and within the plot or subplots, so again there are no chunky bits to remember or get through.
😥 𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝕟𝕠 𝕗𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕤? This is a selfish reason- I wanted more... I know these are short stories but I wanted more lore and history and background. However, after getting to the end of book 3 I can see that this will all unfold as I continue reading through the series...
🪧𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: Whether it's spooky season and you want the vibes, or it's January and you need a distraction, this series will hold you in a bind and not let you go! It's full of lol banter, tension, spice and great characters with a diverse magic system full of wards, potions, incantations and exorcisms!
⭐️⭐️ I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands
⭐️⭐️.5 It was OK. I wish I hadn't started this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail] Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!
🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥 This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!

Commanding Chaos, and Audiobook by Carrie Pulkinen, is the continuing, mind-bending, enthralling story of Chaos and Ash. They continue to look for the missing items to bring them back together and break the curse. But, they are thwarted at every turn! Someone or something is determined to prevent them from achieving their goal!
Exciting, entertaining, shocking, edge-of-your-seat tension, and so many twists and turns….you won’t know what hit you when you reach the end….well, the cliffhanger…. Excellent story!!!
This Audiobook was narrated by Holly Jackson who was, as always, fantastic!!! She portrays the perfect comedic…but serious situations that the characters find themselves in. She is excellent!!!
This is book two of the Fire Witches of Salem and the main characters are sisters Ash and Ember Holland, as well as the demon Prince of Hell, Chaos, who she exorcised and is responsible for the veil between worlds is being ripped apart. To break the curse upon the sister’s coven, they need to summon Chaos’ two brothers, or Ash will become a murderer and kill all in her coven as a result of the curse. Ash and Ember are both fire witches from a very powerful line, the only two left in Salem, and Ash is also an Ink Master, which is how she ended up with Chaos’ sigil on her arm! They can’t tell anyone else in their coven, Shade, Miles, or Ginger, who Chaos is and have to pretend he is a distant relative or friend of the family, and shroud his demon essence. They have to fight against lots of different demonic creatures and beings that have come through all the holes in the veil. Chaos has promised to help her family and break the curse, swearing he won’t hurt any of her family if she releases him. He wants to free Mayhem and follow the map she has to his skull, but he has to stay his hand as he realises how fragile the sister’s human bodies are, as they need to rest and recover from fighting creatures coming through the veil. Ash and Ember stole a page from a book in the Boston Magic Society witches coven library, as well as three cards, all about their family and the curse one of their past members placed upon their family. The Boston witches practice black magic, whilst Ash and Ember are white witches. The rest of their coven have no idea what they have done, but have some sense that the sisters are hiding something from them. Chaos can still influence Ash through the sigil on her arm, but he finds his magic is reversed which is a surprise to him. He has a lot to learn about the modern woman and what she likes and doesn’t like, especially when he uses his magic to calm her down, thinking he is helping!
They eventually manage to get out to the site of Mayhem’s skull, only for Ash to feel something is off, but Chaos is too impatient to be reunited with his brother and rushes in, setting off a trap. Someone had clearly gotten there a few days before them and taken the skull. Going to the next point on the map, based on a pentagram, sees them find someone has beat them to it again, but some others from probably the same group arrive just after them, clearly wanting the same prize as them! Ash, Ember and Chaos return home to recover, with Ash finally unable to ignore her draw to Chaos and they finally have sex, only to be disturbed once finished by an unwelcome guest, not her sister as first thought. It seems there is more than one of their own coven who has been dabbling in the dark arts, not just the one they found killed in some sort of dark ritual in a graphic manner! Now Ash, Ember and Chaos have more than one foe to face down and defeat, but even they don’t know the full extent of who is behind the actions in their coven and if they are linked to the Boston witches. They chase after one member, to keep them quiet about what they have realised about Chaos’ identity, but that just draws them into more danger and finding out who exactly is behind it, from within their very own coven! A shocking discovery and someone who has been hiding their magical powers from them all. They have already got Mayhem and now they will try and kill Chaos and the rest of the coven! If Ash and Ember can get out of this one, they will have a lot of explaining to do and a dark witch to catch! An interesting mix of witches and demons, with interactions that shouldn’t happen, but do, with betrayal and possession confusing the real truth. Other options will need to be utilised and the initial plan to break the curse will still need to be competed, if it can. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
***This review is for the book and audiobook*** Ash and Ember are Fire Witch sisters, immune to fire, that live in Salem, Mass. The story starts with Ash having just exorcised the demon Chaos from her head, and he appeared before her in human form. Ash and Chaos were in secret instalust with each other. Chaos, a prince of hell, had left his sigil mark on Ash’s arm, leaving them connected and their lives bound. He cannot live in this realm without her, and if a witch vanquished him, Ash would die.
Ash and Ember need to find their sister and end the curse against their family and coven. Chaos needs to find the skull of his brother Mayhem and free his brothers. They make a deal to work together. The other members of their rag-tag group that help include Chris, Shade, Ginger, and Miles. You will be shocked when you find out who betrays the group.
Commanding Chaos is a hilarious paranormal rom com about witches and demons. It is a hilarious story that keeps you enchanted until the end. The story pulls readers in with tension, plot points, and character building. Pulkinen excels at world building. I enjoyed the witty and snarky banter between the characters. The narrator, Hollie Jackson, had a pleasant voice and she was enjoyable to listen to. The audio quality was exceptional. The narrator’s voice quality and character distinction, pacing and rhythm, and emotional delivery were all on point. I loved the different accents, and they made the book even more enjoyable. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and think the excellent narration added to the experience for me. If you are looking for a well-written, well-narrated paranormal romance story full of interesting characters, I would recommend this book for you.
Now that Chaos is out of Ash's head you think that things would die down a bit, but no. She and her sister have to help Chaos find the last of his brothers' skulls is order to repair the damage that has been done to the veil. Oh and there is also breaking the curse that was placed on the Holland bloodline. But just when they think that's all they have to do another wrench gets thrown into their plans. Someone has killed one of their coven members and they used dark magic to do it. Ash and her gang has to battle the monsters showing up in the ever opening rifts of the veil, find the skull to summon the demon and figure out who the dark magic wielding murderer is. Sounds like a walk in the park. Oh and did I also mention the ever growing sexual tension between Ash and Chaos that her sister is concerned with. Ash sure has a lot on her plate. This book was a real page turner, so much so that I had a hard time putting it down. The characters are all pretty relatable. You could really tell there is chemistry between Ash and Chaos even though they are from two different worlds and everything is telling them they should not be together. But you can't stop passion when it ignites into a bursting flame. A flame that results into a very steamy scene.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "COMMANDING CHAOS" This is one wild crazy adventure taken to try & break the curse so full of intrigue, steam, action, danger threats, secrets, mystery, dark magic, angst, twists & surprises that keeps you glued to your seat to the end. Ash isn't like her sisters she has problems with powers finding out it has something to do with the curse, finally Chaos is out of her head he needs him & his brothers Mayhem & Discord to somehow break the curse their the only ones to do it. Ash & Chaos are attracted to one another she a tough cookie takes nothing from no one, he reacts not thinking his his actions hurt others, but there's danger something or someone doesn't want them together. I definitely recommend to get this phenominally well written adventure you can't put down will Chaos & Ash be able to figure things out in time her Coven is cursed, will they find the artifacts their looking for to break the curse its a must you don't want to miss. I'm so looking forward to "CLAIMING CHAOS" after that cliffhanger need to know what happens next can't come soon enough awesome read. RIVITING TWISTED PARANORMAL ADVENTUROUS ROMANCE I LOVED IT 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
Right from the start we pick up immediately from the ending of book one and the action never stops! Can I say I was happy Ash and Chaos gave in to their desires? For the ending though, I was thrown for a twist! Ending on a little cliffhanger, I am eager to read book three right away. What a fun series!
Commanding Chaos is the second book in the Fire Witches of Salem series.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
So, Chaos is now out of Ash's head, but the problems in Salem are just beginning. The veil between the worlds is opening allowing all sorts of beings to come through. Ash just recently learned that there's a curse on their coven and that Chaos is the demon to end it, with the help of his two brothers anyway. And, as if that wasn't enough, Ash is very drawn to the demon who wants to claim her.
I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest, unbiased review. This is the second book in a new series by Carrie Pulkinen, Carrie is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors and this book's a prime example of why. Carrie combines the paranormal with the "real world" and gives us an absolutely fantastic tale. I was drawn into this magical story and kept hooked from beginning to end. The intrigue and suspense combined with the steamy romance is captivating. I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series which is best when read in order.
We venture further into the adventures of the coven with Chaos and Ash. The coven is under threat from breaks in the veil. Chaos and Ash find they are getting closer but he is a demon from hell and eventually will have to go back so Ash tries to keep her emotions under control but with this very hot demon it is almost impossible. They have worked out that it is likely Ash's sister is in hell with his brother Discord and they are now on a quest to find the skull which belongs to his other brother Mayhem. Ash finds out about her true ability with fire along with a few other surprises - not all of them good and another witch is on the same quest and they must stop her but find they are always one step behind. Another great read taking us further along the journey to try and heal the veil and find Ash's parents and sister.

This is book 2 in Pulkinen's Fire Witches of Salem series and a wonderful addition / continuation to the series. Our main characters Ash and Chaos continue to break a curse and save the world and encounter twists and turns all while fighting the growing pull they have toward each other. I adore the non curses Ash delivers that brings with it some humor amidst the drama, mystery, danger, suspense and more. Pulkinen delivers a wonderful paranormal world with a great balance of sweet and steamy romance as well. The narration on the audio version was well done also. I'm looking forward to more in book 3 and hopefully see how these two save the world and find their HEA!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Ash finally did the exorcism to get Chaos out of her. Now she needs rest. Meanwhile the riffs are still happening only getting worse. Chaos is going an existential crisis as he realizes he has come to admire and like Ash. Ash doesn't realize that she is using her powers more. Like Chaos she's in crisis mode because she feels drawn to him. Now the Boston witches are after them. True to his chaos seems to follow Chaos around. Will they be able to get to his brother's Mayhem's skull? What about all the feelings going around? Oh boy! Another fantastic book in the series. The story is unique and mesmerizing.

This book contains more action and intrigued, a mystery that one thinks have been solved, yet the first impression might not always be the correct one.
The hunt for the skulls continue and the story is really good, but it is quite prolonged, maybe more than necessary, and that is the only reason i give this book 4 out of 5 stars. But, this second book contains more of a mystery solving story than the first book did, and the chemistry between chaos and Ash is still as strong as ever. And yupp, i am buying the third book, because from the twist in this story, i need to read what happens next!
I would recommend this book for either 13+ into paranormal, or anyone into witches romance with demons, or maybe both.
i really enjoyed this book! this second in the series was as great as the first! the story held my attention and i finished it in one day! I loved the characters and the introduction the new characters. i loved the mystery as this was an underlined funny romance of a demon and a witch but also was a mystery, thriller to solve! it left you hung for the third book in the fire witches of Salem and I cannot wait to start it asap! this book was given to me by story origin and my opinions and thoughts are my own! If you like a thriller with a bit of witty charm, a bit of underline romance, and a lot of magick this book is for you! i think you willl love it as much as i did! Be prepared the story does leave you wanting more!
In this book we find out more about Ash and Ember’s coven mates. Chaos has a lot to learn about the modern world/woman. He tries to help by using his magic to calm Ash down, but she doesn’t like it. Chaos is helping to look for his brother Mayhem’s skull. He doesn’t wait, causing issues. Ash and Chaos are learning to work together, but they have a long way to go. On top of everything they still have to fight monsters coming through the rifts. I definitely did not see the ending coming. This book is definitely action packed and will keep you engaged. I highly recommend meeting Ash, Chaos and her coven. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The way these two work though?! I mean it's been a long time since I've seen a couple I rooted for and wanted to work out.
He's not bullshitting. Yes he wants to find the skull, sort shit out, but he helps her. He learns. He listens. He tries. HE IS A PRINCE OF HELL AND YET HE TRIESSSSS.
He protects and her adores her and believes in her strength and already integrates himself into her personal bubble. It's just adorable.
I know I know the adventure itself is wild and figuring it out with the spells and the veil and shit hitting the fan is something but they are my focal point. I'm not afraid to admit that.
I just love Chaos and Ash!! This book met all of my expectations that I had after reading the first. There was some spice, there were some plot twists, and there was the light hearted humor that I love. The middle of the book was a little harder to flip through compared to the beginning and the end because some of the situations are kind of redundant (which is necessary though!!) but it was harder for my brain to stay focused for those parts.
Overall I loved this & I need more!.

Chaos might be out of her head now, but there is still plenty of trouble heading their way. Can they find out who is out to get them? Ash and Chaos are feeling an attraction, will it get in the way of their plans to find Chaos' brother? I loved the steam (between Chaos and Ash), the action, danger, banter between Chaos and Ash, and the strength/determination of Ash (she wants to prove herself and save people). I am looking forward to the next instalment.

The final line of this book killed me. I'm already heading into the next book because of it. This book will pull you into a world where not everyone is as they seem and the same dirty trick could happen multiple times. Our FMC? An organizational freak who is learning to trust herself. Our MMC? The demon who will do just about anything to keep her from getting hurt. And the rest of our coven? What secrets could they all be hiding? Because let's be honest, everyone has a secret.
This is the continuing story of Chaos and Ash. The author takes them on a journey looking for the way to break the curse. She pulled me in and kept me reading with all the twists and turns along the way. It's well written with descriptive scenes and is a great read. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is an entertaining, fun paranormal mystery romance. Mind you, it is not a stand-alone. The three Holland sisters are powerful witches although Ash has had trouble tapping into her strength, and she found out that it has to do with a curse. The demons Chaos, Mayhem and Discord have something to do with it. This is the second book of three in the Ash and Chaos storyline, and it is best to read in order. I was surprised by the twists and am looking forward to the rest.
All these characters are on point. I enjoy Ash as she is as sassy as they come and doesn’t let anyone bother her. Chaos is a demon who reacts first and doesn’t know his consequences play a roll in hurting others. They have a growing attraction towards each other but the danger is slowly creeping up on them if they don’t figure it out in time.

This was another exciting installment of this series and I, once again, was hooked right from the beginning. Chaos and Ash continue to try and find the artifacts to break the curse but something or someone was able to thwart them... Expect to get caught up in this intense read that was filled with action, intrigue, suspense, humour, twists and steam. And a cliffy, so watch out ;P I can't wait for the next book to come out :D
Book two and we hit the ground running. It’s a fast paced adventure full of mystery, intrigue, angst and twists and turns that will keep you spinning. Chaos is finally out of Ash’s head but things are still going on as the veil between worlds is ripping open and the coven have been cursed so Chaos needs his brothers Mayhem & Discord to break the curse. It’s an exciting and captivating addition to this incredible series and I look forward to reading more!
Danger, distrust, chaos - Ash, Chaos and a reluctant Ember continue their search for Mayhem's skull while closing errant rifts to the Underworld. But there is discord with the rest of the Salem witches and why is the Boston coven lurking? Do they know what the Holland sisters did to their library? Uh oh! An action-packed paranormal thrill ride from start to finish, with a side of witch-demon lovin'.

Oh my gosh, I am so enjoying Ash and especially Chaos! These two are so fun. I just love the way Hollie Jackson presents Chaos. Her voice for him is qwerty and laid back. It's even sexy somehow. He's so matter of fact and to the point. I like her different accents and voices. 5+ stars for her.
Carrie Pulkinen really knows how to entertain. She has me enjoying a genre I'm not usually interested in. Paranormal.
I was gifted this audio book from the author through Story Origin.
The second book continues as fast and gripping as the first. With a lot of unforseen twist and turns it was hard to put this book down. And on top a blooming, but forbidden love between a witch and a demon? I can hardly wait for the next book, and hopefully it will answer all the questions I have!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The twists just keep coming you just don't know who to trust and what's going to happen next. Still has humor yet so much more intrigue than the first book. Relationships are growing and changing. I'm anxious to see what happens next. Definitely hooked!.

Right out of the gate the action starts with more intensity and mystery than before and still has the witty banter of the first book. I was on the edge of my seat until the end then boom...cliffhanger! I can't wait to see how this turns out next!!.
