Book 2 of The Calling series was so much fun to read. It has great pacing and side characters. The found family trope is done so well. I found it to be a perfect sequel that was quick and exciting to read. I loved where the story went, too. The author even gave a sneak peak into book 3 at the end. I loved the end, and I am so excited about book 3. She has done an amazing job on her debut YA series. I would give this one to my young teens to read, mom approved. These days, I am double checking YA books before handing them to my young teenagers. You can find this series on kindle unlimited! Happy reading! 📚🪱

Uncovering the truth might be more than they bargained for.

“How can I survive another day in this constant torture? Knowing you feel the same, yet not being able to be with you. Every day I walk among the gardens, pretending you are there with me. I sit among the hedges, waiting for you to come find me. Do not waste another day, put me out of my misery. Come to the gardens. I’ll be waiting.”

Oooo I liked this one! Even better than the first. Full of action and never a dull moment. I missed some of the group from the first book, but I know they are somewhere preparing for what’s to come. More characters were introduced, and in a new location. Lots of questions get answered as well , which put some of the pieces together. I wish the last book was out, that sneak peek was killer- can’t wait to see it unfold.

PS - there is an extra bonus chapter for each book when you finish if you click on the code at the end. #worthit

The Finding is an exciting installment in The Calling series. It’s always a blast to pick up a story with characters who are familiar, who you can root for, and also learn more about along the journey. I definitely noticed an improvement in the author’s writing, even since The Calling released May 2023, which was a huge bonus!! I love when authors make a jump in their storytelling in such a short amount of time :D There were high stakes, great action, and a great cast of characters.

No issues with content (this book is absolutely a clean read!), but a few personal preferences with the plot and pacing kept me from giving this book five stars :)

Can’t wait for the third installment to release (yes, I was so happy I got a glimpse into book three at the end, cause once you read the ending, you’ll know what I mean).

Thank you so much to the author for an eARC. All opinions are expressly my own.

How do I even write a review for this?! I am 🤯🤯🤯

Book 2 was even better than book 1!! The Finding picks up right where The Calling left off. We are immediately thrown right back into the story, and it starts with bang. This whirlwind of a story has a running start and never stops. The character growth is stellar and the new characters that are introduced fit perfectly into the story. Talia is a main character who’s story has you wishing you could get your eyes to read faster to know what happens next. I literally finished in less than 24 hours. I’m hooked on this series and wishing the next two books were already here! {For sensitive readers, be warned that the violence in this book is significantly more than The Calling. However, I did not think it was done distastefully and it was needed to advance the characters stories.}
Overall, The Finding is on my list as one of the best books I’ve read this year!!
*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are entirely my own. The Finding will release on Nov. 28th, so you have plenty of time to read book one and dive into the world of Landore!

Thank you so much to L.C. Pye for this ARC of The Finding! This is the second book in The Calling series and comes out Nov 28th 🥰 It’s a young adult fantasy series with no spice. This was such a great read!

This has multiple POVS and short chapters. The plot flowed nicely and it was easy to follow though very intriguing! I loved the plot twists and the big cliffhanger.

I loved seeing different POVS and seeing into Raphs mind. We get to experience how he ends up planning to help someone he really cares about. I was also so glad to see Talia’s best friend Jules!

Overall, I really enjoyed this! I can’t wait to read the next book when it comes out 🥰

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

I personally found this far more engaging than the first installment, a clear testament to Pye’s rapidly improving skills as a writer (and I thought there wasn’t much room for improvement!) The pacing of the book flowed nicely and one of the things that set it apart from its predecessor was the new mix of characters.

We are introduced to several new faces and while in The Calling, Talia meeting her seven strangers all at once made it a bit difficult to keep track of who’s who, the characters are fleshed out better in The Finding.

*Spoilers Ahead*

Jules’ interactions with Adira and the rest of them warmed my heart. The world of Tommy and the kids made me interested to learn even more about Raph’s past. And Kasper! I am still a hundred-percent shipping Talia with Ralph but Kasper is so interesting.
The king made my blood boil. Talia’s ladies in waiting and the dealings with the rebels kept the palace scenes from slipping into monotony and cliches of her princess etiquette training.

My favorite scene, as short as it may be, was Raph’s moment of jealousy at seeing Talia next to the prince 🤭

And you bet I highlighted,
“But you still came.”
“Always, your highness.”

Overall I cannot wait for the third novel. Pye’s writing appears to be getting better by the book!

This book was absolutely AMAZING! I was lucky enough to be apart of the ARC and read it all in one day. I seriously could not put this book down. My favorite thing about this series is it’s a quick read that moves along fast instead of dragging, but it keeps you on the edge of your seat not wanting to put the book down so you can figure out what’s next.

This book picks up right where book one left off and it is a good reminder that not everyone is always what they seem to be. It also shows how you must always keep hope and believing and trying no matter what the odds may be. The character growth is phenomenal and the villains are amazing! There’s so many turns, the moment you think you know what’s going to happen something else happens.

I can’t post spoilers but the Prince is my favorite character, I feel like there’s more to him than what’s being told through Talia (or what she thinks of him). I’m excited to see where his character goes in the next book. I also really love Raph and his back story. In this book you get to really know him and how he came to be the way he is. Talia’s character is phenomenal! I’m very excited to see what’s next for her and for her to learn more about her history and possibly her family.

I love the way L.C. Pey describes scenes or characters in the book, it really helps me picture what’s going on. I can’t wait for book 3 to come out now! This is hands down my favorite series since Harry Potter. I highly recommend it!

Ok, again I am a little biased as I got to beta read this. But it was so fun to read the finished version. There was so much added that we talked about that just made this story even better. It’s cool to watch an author continue to grow.
But this story. I love it! I love it even more than book one. I obviously loved any moment with Gil. But I started also loving Prince Kasper. I loved watching these characters grow. And the plot & pacing was amazing. Even though I roughly knew what was going to happen, I was still on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait to read book 3.

I have to start by thanking LC Pye as I received an e-arc copy of The Finding from the author in return for an honest review.

I had originally wrote a full length review of this novel but I accidentally deleted it all so for now we will settle with a short summary of what I said. I thoroughly enjoyed the sequel to the calling. It was very different from the first book but it was still Intriguing. There were a few plot twists while reading which shocked me and i still really enjoyed the characters. Overall I think this series is definitely worth it, especially if you’re getting into fantasy or enjoy dystopian. I cant wait for the next book in the series to release.

I’ve been waiting to read this book since March. @l.c.pye gave me the opportunity to not only read her first book as an ARC, but her second book as well!! I am so thankful for her letting me read this book. She is one of my amazing author friends who has helped me with my journey to becoming an author.

Now, about the book. Just WOW. I was not expecting anything at all about what I read. While still being YA, this book brought darker themes and heavier topics.

We got to learn more about the characters from book 1, and all the secrets that were revealed were jaw dropping.

We got introduced to a morally grey character and … I know we’re not supposed to like him but I do. I ship him and Talia SO HARD!! (Sorry L.C.)

I am excited to see where this story goes. I still love Raph. He has my heart in a choke hold with those letters (IYKYK). I can’t wait to see what happens with Raph and Talia and this new morally grey man who I know I’m supposed to hate but i don’t.

While I absolutely adored this book, there were scone moments where it felt rushed and I was confused about sudden emotion changes. I had to reread to make sure I didn’t miss something. This book is super fast paced, so be aware.

I finished this book in a day. It was a quick read and it was so fun. I love the dystopian feel that it gives. I was getting massive The Selection meets Rapunzel vibes. I highly recommend this series. 4.5/5

🌟4.5/5🌟

Wow what a book! The Finding is the second book The Calling Series by L. C. Pye which is a YA dystopian fantasy series with an emphasis on the found family trope, as well as including others such as grumpy x sunshine, slow burn (spice free) romance and multiple povs.

The first book can definitely be seen as divergent meets Robin Hood with a mix of the hunger games in there, whilst I would say the themes in book 2 also align with the hunger games but include Anastasia meets six of crows meets heist vibes. It was so good to be sucked back into a world that’s familiar with characters I’ve grown to love, which you just end up loving that bit more after book 2! It really felt like reconnecting with family which I always love in a book, it’s why I love the Grishaverse so much. I loved how we got to witness the growth of these characters and find out more about some of their backstories, but I also enjoyed the new characters we were introduced to in book 2 (one male prince in particular). They were refreshing and exciting, and their interactions with the FMC were very interesting to say the least.

You can definitely see an improvement in the authors writing style in book 2 compared to book 1, which is a huge achievement considering they’ve only been released 6 months apart! This series, and this book in particular is an action packed, adventure filled page turner that is so addictive you could devour in one sitting. Once again the ending has left me on the edge of my seat wanting more and I’m so excited to see what’s next for this series!

Thank you L. C. Pye for letting me be an arc reader for your wonderful book series, I enjoyed it so much! Here’s to book 3!🤩👏🏼

Oh my gos how do I even start this review because I am completely floored by how amazing book two was. It was the perfect sequal to the calling. And all I can say is LC you hit another home run with this book. If I could give you ten stars I definitely would. This book was so addictive, i was so excited to turn the page and find out what happens next. I literally couldn’t put the book down. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. But until then read your triggers and happy reading.

I AM SO READY FOR THE NEXT BOOK!
• So so much was revealed in this book that made me so excited for the series, learning some about Ralph’s backstory and seeing him play leader definitely made me fall in love with him more! I absolutely loved his perspective in this book!
• I have a brand new respect for Jules, I love how we see her struggle with nightmares after the kidnapping, her determination to learn more about the group. Her personality compliments Talia’s so well
Oh my gosh where to I start?!
• I absolutely loved Talia’s story, it was so interesting in the last book she learned how she could be useful with a bow and wanted to be helping out and then to be completely turned around having servants and her ladies maids do everything.
I loved both of her ladies maids with all my heart, I love how they both were hesitant to talk/trust her until she offered herself when one of them is being punished for her.
* I loved how the author portrays her anxiety, food tasting like ash once she begins to swallow *
KASPER
DONT get me started.
He absolutely threw me for a loop, I was so conflicted, going into it hating him because he was Jules kidnapper BUT- in the first book he kept Sal away from her and all the girls. I definitely got some tortured misunderstood from him, from how he spoke to her, how he wanted to bring her to her room instead of Sal being near her.
10/10 can’t wait for the next book

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. okay again what a greaaaaat book. having ralph’s pov for this one was EVERYTHINGGGG. being able to see talia go through her “training”/palace life was very interesting. also how awful the king truly is and i couldn’t help but hold out hope that prince kasper would somehow snap out of the way he was raised to be and do something ! having some of our seven strangers was nice although i missed alon and his whole presence. i did find it a little slower paced as all i wanted was the plans to commence and start but it was fun and if i could i would’ve read all of it in a sitting. the ending however 10/10 !!!! loved it. it was epic. i was like FINALLLYYY after trying so many things, success.

i cannot wait for the third book to come out

- one thing i was excited for and wished we had more of was that while having raphs pov we could have had more of his reactions/thoughts about talia and the situation she was in. only once really did we get a “i am worried” and when jules told him what happened to her at the beginning it was as if he was unphased and later it was out of his mind until he saw her again. i understand in the first book we had a lot more of both of them onscreen together so with talia we had constant inner monologue on her thoughts of him but i felt it lacked on his side towards her.

I received an ARC of this book, but the opinions within this review are my own.

I want to start by saying I really struggled with whether to leave a two or three star review. However, I consider three star reviews fit for books I would recommend or read again. Unfortunately, I can’t say that about this book.

When I read book one, the writing style seemed very juvenile. It included multiple grammatical/syntax errors and was clearly written by a debut author. I was excited to read book two in hopes there would be growth in writing style. Regrettably, that wasn’t the case.

Though the potential for book two was there, it fell flat in delivery. I hoped to see more character depth this time around, yet Jules and Talia still came across very one dimensional.

Overall, I expected more from book two. It was an easy read and was finished in about 1 1/2 hours - but not in a good way. Nothing about the book was cause for pause, thought or consideration.

I do think L.C. is creative in her storyline, and must have some great book ideas. For her future books, she could benefit from a stronger beta/gamma team. I look forward to seeing her continued growth.

Book review: The Finding by L.C. Pye❄️🤍✨

The Finding is book two of The Calling Series by L.C. Pye. The book starts off right where the first book ends off and pulls us straight into the action. With multiple POVs, new characters and returning characters, secrets, world building, and much more, the story never ceases to entertain and intrigue the reader, leaving us wanting more with each chapter.

One thing that I commend L.C. Pye on, is paying homage to the characters and elements we fell in love with in the first book while simultaneously bringing about a new feel with book two’s exploration of a new setting, new characters, and a new experience for the MC. I also loved the shortness of the chapters and the never-ceasing action/mystery that takes place.

The Calling Series has easily become one of my favorite comfort regal reads of the year, and I can’t wait for book three🤩.

Memorable Quotes:
“If I wasn’t kept busy every moment of the day, I would have more time to read.” (Relatable)
“My seven strangers haven’t forgotten me.”

This book was given to me as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book in The Calling series. Anastasia themes, royal intrigue, daring escapes and a clean slow burn romance. This has multiple POVS and short chapters. The plot flowed nicely and it was easy to follow though very intriguing! I loved the plot twists and the big cliffhanger.
We are introduced to several new faces and while in The Calling, Talia meeting her seven strangers all at once made it a bit difficult to keep track of who’s who, the characters are fleshed out better in The Finding. This book picks up right after The Calling. I loved that we got a Raph pov and got to see more of his story and background. It was nice to see where all the gang landed after parting ways in the last book. This story was fast-paced and kept you wanting to read "one more chapter".
I’m hooked on this series and wishing the next two books were already here! (For sensitive readers, be warned that the violence in this book is significantly more than The Calling. However, I did not think it was done distastefully and it was needed to advance the characters stories.)

A captivating book 2 in the Calling series.

The Finding starts right where book 1 leaves off. We learn of the fate of Thalia after the ending of book 1. Thalia is now in for a world of political intrigue, drama, and secrets. She has to fight for herself and her freedom all the while playing the political game requiring wit and strategy.

Raph is still one of my favorites. I enjoyed seeing his thoughts and feelings in more detail. He is trying to correct and save Thalia while managing his feelings of past decisions he has made.

Woo wee, we are introduced to a new morally grey man.. I know we shouldn't like him.. but what can I say? I love a morally grey man. I really hope we see more of them later.

This book takes a different look at it. The adventure isn't all over the map but strategizing and sneaking within and just outside four walls. There isn't as much banter but still keeps you captivated with their passion and determination to succeed. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.

I had the honor of receiving this as an ARC ebook, and I am happy to give it an honest review.

The Finding is book two in The Calling series by L C Pye . It picks up right where The Calling left off and we are instantly back with characters we know, and can’t wait to see what’s going to happen to them next!!! This story took off quickly and never stopped for a second and pulled you in to all the action. It was a little darker and a bit heavier than the first book, but it did not detract from the story.

The character growth was excellent, and all the new characters that were introduced were just as interesting as the existing ones. I liked the writing style with different POV’s and the shorter chapters made the story flow very smoothly and fast. The world building was amazing and the mystery, intrigue, plot twists and another cliffhanger just added to the suspense all the way through and made this a very enjoyable book!!!

I would definitely recommend this book if you like all of the above and want to be kept on your toes and on edge waiting for book three!!!!!

This story is primarily set in the capital, with Talia adjusting to her new life as the lost princess, and coming to terms with her forced engagement to Prince Kaspar. With POV chapters from Talia, Rath, and Jules, we find out a little more about Rath's back story, with hints at a sister, or perhaps mother (girlfriend?) who he lost to people poaching kids.

The main plot centres around Talia's (mostly) unsuccessful plans to escape from King Madden, and Rath's and the gang's plans to try to rescue her. The Northern rebels are introduced, but we don't get to see much of them on page (I'm assuming they'll play a bigger role in the next book).

I found Kaspar the most intriguing of the characters. We get hints that he is not everything he seems, and I would be interested to learn more of his story.

I love a good dystopian novel, but I have to admit, I struggled to get through this one. I enjoyed the characters from the first book enough that I wanted to see what happened to them. Unfortunately there didn't seem to be many new revelations in this book.

L.C. Pye does it again with another fantastic, easy, and enticing YA Fantasy!

The Finding was the perfect pair to The Calling.

Talia has found her shelf stuck under the vicious King Maddon’s rule and to make matters worse she becomes sworn to marry the Prince, who is known as the King’s Wraith. Meanwhile we follow her friend Jules and Raph as they try to rescue the stolen girls and her.

Overall this read was so incredible and so adventurous. I finished the whole thing within a few hours!!!! I WAS ADDICTED!!!!

I have some suspicions about what will happen in the next book and I’m really hoping I’m correct. *cough* Kasper is not all bad *cough* 🤣 or maybe I’m just reaching for my favorite which are dark, brooding, and morally-grey men🤭

Thank you so much to the author for granting me the opportunity to read this book early! I can not wait for The Choosing and to continue reading every thing else L.C. Pye puts out into the world!

L. C. Pye has a real talent for storytelling. The Calling series pulls tiny threads from several other book series I’ve read and creates a lovely new tapestry with them, so the story feels comfortable and familiar on one level as well as new and exciting on another.

The Finding begins in the exact scene where the Calling ended, drawing us directly into the thick of things. The author does a wonderful job of further acclimating the reader to the new setting among the royals and nobles, while deftly switching character points of view, introducing secrets and intrigue. Her world building is excellent and does not detract from the storyline.

The FMC Talia is forced to play the part of princess that had been missing for the last 18 years, in addition to learning the finer points of court politics, and working ceaselessly to figure out how to escape. Learning and listening and plotting. The friendship she forged with the maids assigned to her was a great light needed in the dark, backward, controlling strictness of the palace. They had genuine love and concern for one another, proven over and over.

A new potential love interest enters the scene, morally grey for sure. But is he as untrustworthy as he seems?

The book also continues to follow the group Talia searched with in book 1, adding the now located Jules to the crew. They search and turn up at the castle and strategize ways to get past, defeat, and end King Madden.

There’s a great cliffhanger ending that will leave you longing for resolution in book three!

not great.

Won’t keep reading. What started off as fun and exciting quickly turned boring and repetitive. The escape plans are the dumbest plans I have ever seen, and she is dumb. She can’t even act like everything is okay well and is the most suspicious person ever. The King literally said he would kill her parents and she comes up with the DUMBEST way to escape and it fails. She can’t even pretend to not be plotting her escape and is practically useless the whole book.
The constant escape plans were annoying, and when parts fell through she tried to fix them the dumbest ways possible instead of taking time to come up with a good plan. It’s like 101 on how to get caught. I scrolled through half the book. I don’t think anything actually happened this book except her planning escaping??? Tbh I was rooting for her and the Prince to get together. Raph is so boring and uncommitted. Will not continue reading and will not recommend.

Most Underrated Fantasy Series I’ve Ever Read

Oh. My. Good. GRACIOUS.
I am soooo in love with these books.
My only issue came up when I realized this book wouldn’t be the end - and book 3 isn’t out yet!
Folks. The stakes were RAISED. I love it, I love it, I love it. They make awesome plans and they fail and they try again so I can keep cheering for them. I am in love with the little dash of political intrigue that adds so much complexity. The characters are all so unique and still so true to the friends I made in book 1.
The slow burn is still getting me. Oh my HECK, you guys!! I love their love so much. It’s so new and tender but it scares the crap out of them! They treat it so carefully, like it’s the precious thing it should be. I couldn’t stop swooning and crying because it’s so well done and rips my heart out out everywhere.
So good.
Oh man. So good.
PLEASE hurry up with book 3!!

I had the honor to revive an ARC for this book and here’s my honest review SPOILER FREEE

I swanned through the calling in 1 Day and after that steep cliffhanger I was listing for this bad boy well let me tell you.!!

The Finding tasked place IMMEDIATELY where the calling leaves off and so you just keep reading the continuation ( LOOOOOVE THIS)

Way More character development and points of views PLUS this book has way more darker gruesome scenes and expect blood and hate

It is such a fun story and I’m so invested in what will happen next .. while reading this book I get a sense of feel and Depot scenes and Ambiance’s from

RAPUNZEL
SPIRITED AWAY
BRAVE
THE HOUSE IN THE PRAIRIE

I’m already Lusting over book #3 won’t spoil the title until THE AUTHOR decides to share it herself but please give this book a read

The Finding is the second installment of The Calling series! I absolutely loved book one but I found book two to be even better! Normally with series, I feel like they aren’t as good the more they go on, but not here.

The Finding immediately picks up where The Calling left off. I love when books do that. I’m also a fan of multiple POV’s. I feel like it just gives us more of a connection to the characters when we can hear directly from them.

L.C. does a fantastic job at writing a clean, but action-packed novel that your good with letting your teen/tween read. No need to worry about spice scenes or language. She definitely keeps it entertaining though! Book 3 comes out in 2024 and I can’t wait to read it!

Read if you love Dystopian Fantasy
POV: multiple
Spice: 🫑

I received an ARC of The Finding in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you, L.C!
