I am the author of Fleeting Breeze—a brutally honest memoir written not to heal, but to destroy. My writing is not meant to inspire or comfort. It is meant to confront the darkest parts of existence and strip away the illusions of hope.
Before Fleeting Breeze, I published my debut work, To My Mother—a tragic tale exploring the depths of despair and the cruel indifference of life. While it touched upon themes of loss and hopelessness, Fleeting Breeze is a rawer, more personal account.
I write because the world I inhabit is already shattered. My words are nothing more than fragments of a broken mind trying to bury the last traces of light.
If you choose to read my work, understand that it is not meant to save anyone. It is meant to embrace the darkness and find solace within it.
This is a useful book to provide students and others with a foundational understanding of AI.
The book is clearly laid out with sections and sub sections. It covers the history of AI, basic concepts, algorithms, data, decision trees, neural networks, clustering, regression, and ends by covering the future of AI, including some of the ethical considerations around privacy, security, and potential misuse.
Real world case studies are provided throughout the book; this allows the reader to connect their learning with everyday items they are familiar with, for example Siri, Alexa. Advantages and disadvantages of various techniques are also provided. There is a contents page, but the sections are not labelled there, which was my only criticism when navigating through the book.
The book is written in an accessible way, and acronyms are defined. Readers are provided with an introduction to some of the basic concepts and jargon that they will be exposed to if they plan to study or work with AI, for example Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), etc.
The book goes into quite a lot of detail in some chapters, for example, the ‘Clustering’ chapter covers distance metrics and feature scaling, as well as determining the number of clusters, and clustering algorithms. These more detailed chapters are likely to appeal more to students or professionals working in the field of AI, rather than casual readers who just want to understand a little more about AI.
Overall, I thought it was a well-thought-out book, providing a good overview of AI.
Enjoyed this book as a quick "introduction" to AI that is easily read and digested. I will caveat though by saying "for people like me!" Yes, it frames AI well, but it also goes fairly deep, and fairly abruptly, into some quite complex Data Science terms and techniques like clustering, regression and binary trees. I love all that data stuff so it was great for a refresher, however those who was a discussion on more of the accessible LLM tools may find this lacking, or not see the relevance.
Some other feedback - the book would benefit massively from diagrams!! It currently has none, and I firmly believe you can't describe binary trees or K-means clustering without them.
Otherwise, if you are interested in the lineage and complexities of AI, ML and Data Science, give it a whirl.
