In this second edition you will find tons of real-life layout ideas design journaling and type tips 8.5x11 and 12x12 layout designs and nine theme album concepts. In this book Cathy keeps it clean keeps it simple keeps it pure Cathy.
Finally! This is exactly what an idea book should be.
I own many scrapbooking books which are filled with instructions on creating the same style as the author. This has always been very impractical to me since I already have a design asthetic which I love.
However, Cathy uses this book, not to force-feed her own layouts to you, but to inspire you to use classic elements of design and apply them to your own pages, no matter how you choose to scrapbook. it is also appropritate for all skill levels.
Besides that, her writing style (much like her blog) is personable, witty, funny and rings true. She had found a perfect blend of practicle, usable advice and instruction without ever seeming pushy or self-righteous.
Amazing scrapbooking resource I would recommend to all crafters.
I have a zillion different scrapbooking books and magazines, and I'm always on the lookout for more. I think my search has ended.
Cathy Zielske writes with warmth, humor, and creativity. She offers tons of tips and suggestions, as well as concrete guidelines for scrappers to follow. She enables you to adapt the layouts you see on the pages of your favorite magazines to your own style. This book offers more of what she wrote in the first volume, but it also goes further, getting into greater detail about how Cathy creates her fabulous style.
I may never buy another idea book -- nahh, of course I will! But this one will have a place of honor on my shelf.
Well, I really really like Cathy Zielske and having just finished her first book, I turned directly to her second. She's a graphic designer by heart and as such has a lot of great advice regarding type and simple, yet pleasing page design. Interesting also to see how she has evolved from book one - now she's "channeling her inner Swapp" a lot more so you see a lot of handwriting on her pages - and also, 12x12 pages all of a sudden (gasp!).
Oh my goodness! If you scrapbook you NEED to read this book. I warn you though. It ruined me. I mean, it was an amazing book that opened my eyes to the wonderful world of simplicity and documenting stories with photos to compliment vs. what most scrapbookers do is document photos with a few words to compliment. Read it! Love it! Refrence back to it and you will be so blessed in your creativity for sure! I rave about this book all the tiem to anyone remotely interested.
Cathy is super talented and very down to earth. Her style is fun, fresh, and realistic. She has excellent suggestions and enables you to feel free to break out of the box - especially if you're in the scrapping every single picture chronologically and sticking to events rather than moments. I've been very inspired to try new things.
Every scrapbooker should read this! Cathy is an amazing designer, and she uses the design principles in her scrapbooking. After you read this book, you'll know how to use those principles in your own layouts, making them better (and really, you can keep your own style, though I must say I LOVE LOVE LOVE Cathy's style).
It's been a while since I read this book, but I remember feeling very inspired to journal more with my scrapbooking and it gave me more amunition as to why I scrapbook. Love the author: her style of writing and her voice is great!
Must read. Exactly what I need. Clean and simple scrapbooking. This book is probably one of the best I've read because it inspired me to get the memories out, on the page. That is what matters most. Not the style or trendy pages, but my stories.
Probably my second favorite scrapbooking book, just under Becky Higgins Sketch book. Cathy Zielske's book is very inspiring and I love how REAL (true to herself) she is in everything she does!
I like Cathy's style, but I've been scrapbooking for years, and most of the stuff was not new to me. She is very encouraging, especially about including yourself it your work.
You just can't get much cooler that Ms. Zielske - and she really managed to add to C&SS rather than repeat herself! A serious book of inspiration for digital & paper scrapbookers alike.
