Firstly I would like to say a big thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity to read an ARC of this book :)

The book was really great, it was so different from any other book I’ve read because of the storyline.

Cassandra, a typical highschool student gets to live another woman’s life when she goes to sleep at night. The twist? She is in the 1920's and has to watch everything play out in a first person perspective. Everything is going well until Sophie's world takes up Cassandras completely. She becomes obsessed, which messes up her own life.

What I really liked was that the plot twists weren’t really easy enough to guess before they happened (or maybe I was just sucked into the book, and wasn’t thinking about what could happen next).

At one point in the book I was REALLY shocked. I stopped reading to think, because I couldn’t understand how the book could continue after that… But it continued really well, and kept me interested.

The only thing that I didn’t like as much was that there were some mistakes in the grammar or the chronology of a sentence. But it is understandable as the authors first language isn’t english.

I think I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending

This part of Taylor Swift's song played in my head while I was reading Cassie's life. I love this kind of book; it's really making you think and somehow solve the mystery while reading.

Sophia
I feel really sad for her. She wanted to be free only to end up in another cage because she followed a man she thought would bring her freedom. I mean, what does she know, right? She was young and desperate and very new to those emotions. It's quite sad how her life ended up not the way she wanted it to.

Cassandra
I was really worried for her when things started to unravel. I thought she was going to make the same mistakes as Sophia but gladly she caught on it.

Writing
This is my first time reading something from the author and she did not disappoint. I love the way the story was written. I was really immersed with Cassandra as she dreamed about Sophia's life; I felt like I was dreaming with her. The emotions felt real, especially on the part where it clicked in my head the parallels between the two characters. However in the first few chapters (Around 23%), I found it hard to continue reading because it felt slow (took me another day to pick it up again and continue) but I'm really glad I pursued it because I couldn't drop the book after and had to finish the rest in one day.

This is the type of book that just made me close my reading app and then my eyes then take a deep breath to let the scenes sink in my head. It was that good.

This was my first ARC novel and I was uncertain what to expect. I was not aware of Laura May as an author so was unsure of her writing style or even what genre this novel would be. I’m so happy to say this was a fantastic introduction to ARC reading.
I was beyond surprised as I began this novel. At first the character, Cassie, came across to me as a bit flat. She travels back in time within her dreams to view the life of Sophia. Cassie at the start is a teenager attempting to maneuver through her own life while dealing with heavy life issues she witnesses of Sophia. When Cassie is living in NYC and living her life as an adult, the writing grabbed me in and suddenly I could not put it down.
There are triggers of emotional abuse, gender issues and sex in the book that the reader needs to be aware of at the start as we were.
This is definitely a novel I would share with my friends. I am looking forward to reading more of Laura May’s novel very soon.

This book made me smile, cry and wanting to end a bastard (pardon my French). This story will make you feel all the possible feelings let me tell you that. Also I love all the beautiful Riga and New York details described in the book, even tho I have never been there it made feel like I knew the places so well.

Having one life when you are awake and living second one in your dreams is such a new and amazing book idea that I devoured this book so fast. I just couldn't stop.

A huge thank you to the Author Laura May for sending me an ARC of this book. Off the bat, I was really interested in the concept with a dual timeline and the characters remembering their past lives, I thought that was a super unique perspective to write from. We read from a young woman, Cassandra, who lives in modern times and she started having these odd, realistic dreams of a young woman in the 1920's.

While this duality was exhausting, Cassandra loved seeing this other woman's life, and her romances and dreams coming true when she met a boy who she moved to New York City with, when things took a turn for the worst.

Once familiar characters entered her own life, Cassandra realized she was in the same dangers as the woman in the 1920's, and was determined not to fall to the same fate.

I really enjoyed this read, I was kept guessing the entire time and it was fast paced and well planned out with many twists and turns.

What a "wow" read for me! I cried. I laughed. I gasped. I really felt transported at times.

Cassie, a typical American teen, finds herself transported 80 years in the past to Latvia every night she dreams. In her dreams she follows a girl in her daily life. I was wondering if this would encourage or inspire Cassie to live a bigger life herself, but it doesn't. It takes over her entire life. She checks out with her friends and parents, consumed by Sophia's story. And as the reader, so I was I. As much as Cassie didn't want to wake up, neither did I.

The second half of the book was better than the first. 10 years later Cassie finally finds herself making choices for herself and living life, except it feels... oddly similar.

I really felt the lust take over and the obsession get out of control. Sophia found real love too late, but is it too late for Cassie too?

Read this as an ARC reader and I have to say I totally got lost in this book. The story of Cassie and Sophia was very capturing and I related a lot to Cassie with how she was feeling while living Sophie's life (trying not to spoil too hard is very difficult here haha). The progress that we see with Cassie's character all the way throughout the book has you feeling so proud of her and right up to the end I was giggling with happiness over her development!

Cassandra is living a double life, day time and night time. We see her sucked into the life of Sophia who is living in the 1920's in Lithuania. Cassie see's through Sophie's eyes at night and feels what she feels, while also trying to balance her own life and studies.

The second half of the book had me wondering where it was going to go and I could not be more happier with how the story developed it was such an unexpected turn of events and it really made Cassie's character shine through.

This book is out in January 2024 and I will definitely be recommending it to everyone when it is released!

A beautiful story that thrusts you back in time and makes you yearn for these characters to have their happy ending.

I went into this novel not knowing a lot about the story line or the style of Laura’s writing. I will say i was pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed it. It was a fairly quick read, but the pacing was so good. i didn’t feel like it was too long/short. I also love a time period shift in novels so this really scratched that itch! For some reason it briefly reminded me of The Midnight Library by Matt Haig but of course being its own brilliant take on living different lives.

Laura does a brilliant job at making all of the characters so layered that even the “villain” in the story makes you think twice about your absolute hatred of him at times. I loved the gender swap at the end with Will being Rachel in their modern day lift. I felt like it was a such a sweet sentiment of loving a person, not a gender.

When I first read the summary of this story, I hoped with all of my heart that I was going to be good. And I must say, I was not disappointed! This story was beautifully written and I loved the ending. I wish I got a little more of the main character’s life at the beginning or the book instead of it primarily focusing on the dreams. However, the prose of the dreams at the beginning is still worth reading. Highly recommend!

I was so blessed to receive an advanced digital copy of “I See You In My Dreams” and it was so good!!! It was nothing like I have ever read before and I stayed up all night to finish it because I just had to know what happened next. It was so sweet and I just love the ending, I love a book so much when it has a clear happy ending. All my questions were answered and my worries were put to rest! I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy because I can see this becoming a comfort read for me.

I went on to chapter one thinking I was about to get myself into a suspenseful YA historical fiction novel. I was immensely wrong - so so wrong. This book is not possible to categorize, but it is definitely New Adult, with some spicy scenes well dispersed throughout.

My friend Danielle put it best - “I See You In My Dreams moved away from its own genre with every turn of the plot and I did not mind. I loved it in the end.”

I highly recommend this book for incredible story arcs, transitions, and mind-blowing surprises. This story does touch on some heavy topics, so please check the trigger warnings. I would love to share everything, but going in with an openness to romance, dark themes, mafia dealings, and dual timelines is all you really need to know to prepare you for this exciting story.

The one thing that would give this story a bit more impact would be the handling of self discovering one’s sexuality. As the characters age, it would have been more endearing to see growth in the way they discussed or recognized gay, lesbian, bisexual, and pansexual identities.

The author really heavily touched on a safe versus unsafe relationship. And she delves into the psychology of staying. The red flags look very pink when wearing the rose colored glasses of a new fresh relationship. Laura May wrote a phenomenal book - worth a read for sure!

I have to be honest I went into this arc completely blind- I had no idea what it was about and I decided to surprise myself and not read into it before diving into the book.

I have never read a book like this one before. Ever. It is so distinctively unique and once you start reading and think you know what is about to happen- it takes you by surprise and delivers double what you thought you had to prepare yourself for.

This book was interesting, captivating, it hooks you in from the very beginning and keeps you hooked till the very end. A story about time traveling, discovering yourself as well as other people, loyalty and love.

It was such a touching, surprising story that was so new and fresh it made me want to keep reading!

I cannot recommend this book enough!
If any of what I said above peaked your interest you should definitely consider getting the book once its released on the 23rd of January, 2024.

i really enjoyed this book! it was definitely a little something different than what i normally read and it moved at a quick pace that had me hooked.

i wasn’t expecting any of the plot twists- my jaw literally dropped to the ground at several parts of this book.

i also really liked seeing the characters develop. i thought they were well thought-out and overall, this was a quick & enjoyable read that i would definitely recommend if you like romance with a hint of drama & multiple timelines concept.

I love the uniqueness of this story. It really transported me to Riga and NYC.

While Cassie was living her double life as Sophia, I was too!! I felt it all, especially when William was shot and Sophia used the gun on herself. I had to take a breather, my heart hurt.

I hadn’t expected Sophia to be Cassie from her previous life, I assumed she was her great grandmother.

But when she saw Daniel’s green eyes on Jason, it finally clicked for me.

I’m so glad Cassie found her night sky.

I truly loved this book.

I was kindly sent the ARC of this book! I loved the premise of this book and thought it was different to what I usually go for.

I really liked how the first half of the book was seen through mainly Sophia’s POV and then in the second half is from Cassies. I liked the change in time from the 1930s to the present.

At first I was a little uncomfortable with Sophia sleeping with Daniil despite only being 17 but understand it was probably normal for that time.

It made me really happy to see that Williams “reincarnation” was a woman to change things up.

This book comes out on 23rd of January 2024 so make sure you support when it is released! I highly recommend.

Such a great book! I’ve never read a book with this type of storyline before, and it was written extremely well.
The storyline kept me interested throughout, and there’s no way at the beginning of the book that i could have predicted how it would end. Also some great lgbtq+ representation, and I definitely recommend this book to everyone!

First I want to say thank you for this wonderful book! This was my first ARC and it didn’t disappoint.

You know how when you have a dream thats so vivid but you can’t control your words or action? Like third eye opening kinda vibes? This is just like that.

Cassandra is a high school student that gets transported into the body of a teenage girl, Sophie, when she goes to sleep at night. The twist? She is in the 1920’s and has to watch everything play out in a first person perspective.

Sophie is a dreamer who is growing up in a secluded; sad life and wants to travel away from her small town. Cassandra is pretty introverted and hates to travel. Sophies longing to see the world motivates Cassandra a bit to explore things in her life.

All is going well till Sophie’s world takes up Cassandras completely. She becomes obsessed. Especially with the massive twist that happens in Sophies life (that winds up shifting Cassandra’s too!).

This book was beautiful and written pretty well for this to not be the authors first language. I would have given it 5 stars, but I wished the real time characters (Cassandra and her friends) had more plot/backstory.

Seeing things through Sophia's eyes begins to influence some of Cassie's decisions. As she becomes more and more entranced with Sophia's life from 80 years in the past, how will Cassie's waking life compare?

I See You In My Dreams is so unique; I've never read a story like this before. I enjoyed it so much!! I feel like the book flows really well, especially with the time jumps between dreams and reality. The amount of detail was perfect. I could picture Sophia's life like I was the one dreaming, not Cassie! The plot and characters were really well developed. I did find it a little predictable, but readers, don't let that deter you!! It didn't detract from the story at all, like it might a murder-mystery or something like that. I still wanted to read to the very end 🙂 Overall, I definitely recommend! First off, would really like to thank Laura for allowing me to read and ARC of this book. I was drawn in by the concept and characters. As the story progressed, I had a hard time putting it down. Even though I had some ideas of what might happen next, I found myself continually interested in where the story was going to go. I was also happy to see that the story was wrapped up nicely at the end so that I could just sit with it and feel satisfied with what I read. Overall, I very much enjoyed this one!

This is the very first ARC I’ve ever received and I was so excited to jump into it! I had no idea what to expect and the book surely kept me on my toes. I love the contrast between both FMCs. How similar their stories ended up being. I found it super relatable how Cassie would dive into her dreams and that’s all she wanted to think about. That’s how I feel about books sometimes. I also love the LGBTQ+ inclusivity of this book. Totally think you should pick this up!

Cassandra is a normal teenage girl. Until one night she dreams, and they are vivid. She sees herself as a girl named Sophia from Riga, Latvia, in the 1930s and lives her life. Every night she dreams of her. Watches as her life goes by. This affects Cassandra in her waking life, where all she wants to do is go back to dreaming. Why is she having these dreams? What do they mean? Then one day they stop. And years later it seems Cassandra is meeting people who look like the ones from her dreams. What could it mean? How will it all play out?

The premise of this book is interesting. The idea of having these vivid dreams about another’s life from another time. Reading about Sophia’s story was super interesting. I knew kind of where it was going but it was definitely fun to read about a different time and place. The author did a good job with the past story and making it seem very real. I do wish that during Cassandra’s time there was more about it affecting her waking life. She talked about it but I felt like there could have been more. I also wanted more dialogue when it came to Cassandra in the first half. It was a lot of description but not a lot of dialogue. Overall this was an interesting story and if the premises sounds intriguing to you then I would read it!

This book was so interesting and had such a unique premise. Cassie is the MC, and she has these vivid dreams about a woman named Sophia. A bunch of crazy stuff happens and I don’t want to say too much for the sake of spoilers, but it gets good! There’s a bit of magical realism, which is something I always love.

I was a little lost at the beginning because we’re barely introduced to Cassie at all before she’s randomly dreaming about Sophia. I would’ve loved to have gotten some background on Cassie first before the dreams started happening, but things got a lot better as the story progressed.

Once I got a bit further into the story, I became so intrigued and loved where the author decided to go with it. I want to say so much more about what I enjoyed, but I don’t want to give anything away.

I do think that the book needed some more editing done, but it didn’t take away from the reading experience for me. The plot really worked for me and that made this a winner in my eyes.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and had a great time reading it! It has a interesting structure, in which we get a dual timeline in the form of a teenage girl living both her own life and that of another woman through her dreams. I think I was about halfway through it before I really started to get an idea of what was going on and where we might be headed next in the story, which means this one really kept me guessing for a while!

Some of the themes are pretty dark so definitely check out the trigger warnings, but I thoroughly enjoy books with darker elements so it was a perfect read for me.

I’m new to the whole reviewing of books but I loved this book

From the get go of this book it gives you a sense of adventure. Sophia and Cassie both lead pretty quiet secluded lives. That is until Cassie falls asleep in 2009 and wakes up seeing though Sophia’s eyes - a Latvian living in 1930. Sophia yearns for more of the world and encourages Cassie to get out of her comfort zone. That is until Cassie stops living her life to observe Sophia’s.

This book has many twist and heartbreaking turns but overall this is a book I will be recommending to everyone I know

I really enjoyed Laura May's first book so I was eager to read this one and it didn't disappoint! The concept is very unique, and I kept wanting to read on to find the connection between the two worlds. Laura knows how to bring her readers in and keep them there until the very last page. I'm just sorry that the book ended and now I have to wait again until Laura has another book come out. Highly recommend!

I was offered the opportunity to preview this book after having previewed another book from the author. The synopsis definitely had me intrigued and I was curious to see how it played out. It was not anything I would have expected and I was definitely surprised by how Cassie’s dreams collided with her real world/life. I always appreciate representation, an area this author has delivered in both books so far. Overall, it kept me engaged because I had absolutely no idea where it was going and had to find out. It was definitely different from anything I have ever read, so if that interests you, check out I See You in My Dreams when it debuts on January 23rd!
